Wilmer H. Ramthun
Wilmer H. Ramthun, 87, of Kewaskum, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend.
He was born on Feb. 19, 1914, in the town of Kewaskum, to the late Otto and Alma (Backhaus) Ramthun, and farmed in the town of Kewaskum for many years.
Mr. Ramthun was a member for over 50 years at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Survivors include two sisters, LaVerne (Lloyd) Petermann of Campbellsport and Delores Ebert of Kewaskum; a brother, Harry Ramthun of West Bend; two sisters-in-law, Deane Ramthun and Bernice Ramthun, both of Kewaskum; a brother-in-law, William Edwards of Kewaskum; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, Otto, Elmer and Ervin "Chesty" Ramthun; a sister, Violet Edwards; a brother-in-law, Elwyn Ebert; and two sisters-in-law, Catherine "Tudy" Ramthun and Marie Ramthun.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum.
Rev. Eric Kirkegaard will officiate, and burial with military graveside rites will follow in Peace United Church of Christ Cemetery, Kewaskum.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until the time of services.
Esther C. Schopp
Funeral services were held Sunday for Esther C. Schopp, who died Sept. 20, 2001 at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg at the age of 93.
Visitation and the funeral service were held at the Mueller Funeral Home, Cedarburg. The Rev. Janis Kinens officiated. Interment took place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Grafton.
Mrs. Schopp was born in Milwaukee on Dec. 10, 1907, the daughter of the late Ernest and Clara (nee Richter) Schauffert. She married Edward Schopp, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Ken (Betty) Schopp of Cedarburg; a daughter-in-law, Jane Schopp of Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren, Keith (Kelly) Schopp, Cindy (Jeff) Wandschneider, Cara (Greg) Martin, Chris (Brian) Worzalla, Doug Schopp, Jon Schopp, Mark (Leslie) Schopp and Brian (Hillary) Schopp; and nine great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by a niece, nephew, cousin, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ralph, and a sister, Ruth Otzinger.

Evelyne K. Arthur
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001 at Loyal Cemetery in Loyal for Evelyne K. Arthur who died on Sept. 18, 2001 at Mequon Care Center, at the age of 94.
She was born on Nov. 25, 1906, the daughter of the late Gustav and Martha (nee Voss) Kurtzheim.
She worked as an elementary school teacher and also sold real estate.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Sylva V. Skinner
Sylva V. Skinner, nee Johnson, of West Bend, formerly of Sheboygan died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at he residence.
She was born in Jonesdale, Wis., to the late Bennett and Anna (Johnson) Johnson and raised in Madison.
After her marriage to Paul F. Skinner on May 9, 1936, in Milwaukee, the couple lived in Janesville, Marinette, Milwaukee and, since 1954, in Sheboygan.
Her husband passed away on March 10, 1993.
Survivors include a daughter, Paulann Phelan of Albuquerque, N.M.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death was a sister.
She was a member of the Lakeland College Auxiliary and The Women's Club of Sheboygan.
Private services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 10 a.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend.
Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend.
Memorials to the Salvation Army or Red Cross are appreciated.
Sigurd K. "Sig" Rudorf
Sigurd K. "Sig" Rudorf, 83, of Big Cedar Lake, West Bend, died Saturday, Sept. 22,2001, at the Cedar Lake Home Campus.
He was born Dec. 8, 1917, in Oberursel I/T Germany, to the late Heintz and Wilhemina (Friedel) Rudorf, and married Dolores J. Duehning on Aug. 17, 1941, at Slinger.
A resident of the Big Cedar Lake area since 1930, Sig was a vice president and executive of A.O. Smith Corp. of Milwaukee until retiring in 1982.
He was very active in community affairs.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sylvia Post of Rumsey, Calif.; a son, Paul (Kay) Rudorf of Sun City, Ariz.; five grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Private services were held on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Bay, West Bend.
Cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend.
The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend assisted the family.
Norine M. Esser
Norine M. Esser, 89, of Milwaukee, was welcomed into God's arms on Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at the Milwaukee Catholic Home.
Norine was born April 4, 1912, in Hartford to the late Arthur and Lena (nee Neu) Esser.
She devoted her entire life helping others as a registered nurse.
Survivors include a sister, Olive Beine of Slinger and a sister-in-law, Irene Esser of Hartford.
She is also survived by her guardian and nephew, Kevin Esser of Milwaukee, and other loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding her in death were her only brother, Norman Esser, and her brother-in-law, Herbert Beine.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Shimon Funeral Home Hartford.
Father Michael Petrie will officiate, and interment will be in St. Kilian Cemetery.
Family will greet relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials to the Red Cross Sept. 11 Fund are appreciated.
Henry Michael Burkel
Henry Michael Burkel, 87, of Friendship, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at the Adams County Memorial Hospital, Friendship, following a long illness.
He was born March 7, 1914, in Cudahy, to the late Nicholas D. and Mary K. (Glish) Burkel, and married Ruth V. Zopf on Oct. 28, 1939.
Henry was a manager of a Farmer Feed Mill in West Bend until retiring in 1985.
He and Ruth moved that year to the town of Preston in Adams County.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a past member of Mound View Golf Course.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Donald Burkel of St. John, Ind., Patricia (Roger) Olig of Allenton, Rosalyn (Drew) Otte of Barrington, Ill. and Michael (Cynthia) Burkel of West Bend; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Private family funeral services were held at Roseberry's Funeral Home and Crematory in Friendship.
Father Dennis P. Stanchik officiated, and interment was in St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery, Friendship.
