Richard C. "Dick" Vore

Richard C. "Dick" Vore, 87, of West Bend, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.
He was born July 14, 1914, in Watertown to the late Herbert and Lessie (nee Conn) Vore, and married Esther F. Hartmann on Feb. 19, 1938 in Watertown.

Dick graduated from Watertown High School in 1932 and in 1945 his family moved to West Bend.

He was a member of the National Guard and was active with the 105th Caliber Band.

Dick worked at the The West Bend Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1978.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Leon (Mary) and LuAnne Salmon, both of West Bend; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Fuge of West Bend; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Marvin, and a sister, Jane Benke.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, West Bend.

Pastor Terry Berg will officiate, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park.

Visitation at the church only will be Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of services.

The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.

Hilary Joseph Batzler

Hilary Joseph Batzler, 72, of Burlington, passed away in an auto accident in the town of Polk, Washington County, on Monday, Oct. 1, 2001.
He was born on April 7, 1929, in St. Kilian, to the late Oscar and Loretta (nee Kohl) Batzler, and married Joy Marie Riffel on Oct. 9, 1954, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Nenno.

Hilary was musical and loved to play his accordion, often with his sister Mary Ann accompanying him on the piano.

He was happiest when he was able to spend time with his children, stepchildren and grandchildren.

Hilary was able to make a trip to Abilene, Kan. in June of 2000 for the high school graduation of his granddaughter, Natosha Batzler. It truly was an adventure traveling with little grandchildren for 12 hours as they made their way to Kansas. He even had a good time.

Hilary was employed at the Ladish Co. in Cudahy for many years until his retirement.

He married Darlene Otto of Milwaukee on April 6, 1974, and together they lived in Waterford for many years until moving to Burlington.

Survivors include five children, Deborah A. (James) Lewis of Juneau, Steven G. (Sue) of West Bend, Darryl T. (Cathy) of Waterloo, Craig A. (Tabitha) of West Bend and Clayton J. (Pat) of Knowles; three stepsons, William (Sharon) Otto and Roger (Jan) Otto, both of Milwaukee and Leslie (Flo) Otto of Hooks, Texas; brothers and a sister, Harry (Olive) Batzler of Campbellsport, Manuel (Dorothy Bartoli) Batzler of Lomira, Mary Ann (George) Weninger of Thorp; 12 grandchildren, Elisha, Elizabeth, David Lewis, Nicholas, Natosha, Myranda, Cade Batzler, Heather, Anthony, Sara Batzler, Brandon and Andrea Batzler; four step-grandchildren, Tracy (Samuel) Broyle, Jason, Joshua and Jacob Otto; four step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Darlene.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Highway 67, town of Ashford, with Father Barta presiding.

Visitation at the church will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

The Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, is assisting the family.

Sylvester "Si" Wundrock

A Mass of Christian burial was held Wednesday at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church for Sylvester "Si" Wundrock, who died on Oct. 1, 2001 at the age of 85. Private interment will take place today at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery.
Schramka-Densow Funeral Home of Thiensville assisted the family with arrangements.

Mr. Wundrock was a Marine veteran of World War II and active with the Catholic War Veterans.

Survivors include: wife Lucille (nee Kerndl); sons John (Mary Beth) Wundrock, Dan (Mary) Wundrock; grandchildren Mark, Jennifer, Andrew, Amy, Susan, Molly, Kristin, Beth, Katherine and Peter; great-grandchildren Casey, Michael, Cassidy, Emma, P.J., Sidney, Justin and Olympia; brother Herbert (Irene) Wundrock.

He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Francis endowment fund are appreciated.

Dudley Stecker

A Memorial Mass was held on Sept. 15 at St. Francis Borgia Church for Dudley Stecker, who died on Sept. 11, 2001. He was a long-time resident of Cedarburg and friend of many. He will be dearly missed.
Mr. Stecker was the beloved husband of Angeline "Jean" (nee Hamm); dear father of Alan (Lori), Robert (JoAnn), Jan (Bob) Fisher, William (Jennifer) and Gary (Joanne); loving grandfather of A.J. and Adam; Michael, Kelly and Nicole; John and David Fisher; Jacqueline; Haley and Cari; dear brother of Edmund (Jeanette), Robert (Erna) and Eugene; brother-in-law of Gladys and Nancy.

He was preceded in death by one son, John, and two brothers, Gerritt and Russell.

Julia S. Helm

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church for Julia S. Helm formerly of Thiensville, who died on Sept. 27, 2001, at the age of 94. Private entombment was held at Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery.
Schramka-Densow Funeral Home of Thiensville assisted the family with arrangements.

Survivors include children Betty (Wally) Hauser, John "Bud" (the late Catherine) Helm Jr., George (Sandy) Helm, Jackie (Kurt) Kaltenbrun; grandchildren Lee Ann (Bill) Brown, Kim Helm, Sharon (Steve) Knuth, Mark (Lisa) Helm, Gary (Vicki) Helm, Cindy (Dar) Shaurette, Dawn (Bob) Schueller, Mary (Dan) Schulties, Scott Helm, Ryan (Jenny) Kaltenbrun; step-grandchildren Dave, Jim, Dan, Ron and Tom Hauser; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Marie (Harold) Grady.

She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Helm and sister Flora Poggenburg.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.

Mildred Kloehn

A funeral service was held on Monday at Wisconsin Memorial Park-Chapel of the Flowers in Brookfield for Mildred Kloehn, who died on Sept. 27, 2001, at the age of 85. Burial followed.
Schramka-Densow Funeral Home of Thiensville assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Kloehn was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader and was co-president of Story School PTA. She retired from Ideals Publishing Company. She was a long-term caregiver for her husband, brother and mother-in-law.

Survivors include: sons Edward (Ellen) Kloehn, Robert (Judy) Kloehn; daughter Susan (Gil) Palmer.

She is further survived by grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice are appreciated.

Frieda L. Freiberg

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Luther Manor Faith and Education Center in Wauwatosa for Frieda L. Freiberg, who died on Sept. 29, 2001, at the age of 95. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Private interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Rev. Paul Peterson will officiate at the ceremony.
Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Freiberg (nee Witschonke) was born April 19, 1906 in Green Grove. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Survivors include: daughters Joyce (Thomas) Christie of Cedarburg and Alice Stecker of Harrisonburg, Va.; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name can be directed to the Luther Manor Foundation or Faith Lutheran Trust Funds.

Clara E. Bentz

A funeral service was held Monday for Clara E. Bentz (nee Gierach) at David’s Star Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kirchhayn. She died Sept. 28, 2001 at Lasata Care Center at the age of 90.
Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 4 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Interment will be at the church cemetery on Tuesday.

Mrs. Bentz was born Dec. 8, 1910, the daughter of the late Ludwig and Alma Gierach. She married Paul Bentz on June 26, 1937 at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Clara was a member of the Ladies Aid at David’s Star Ev. Lutheran Church.

Survivors include son Ronald (Jean) Bentz; grandchildren Kelly (Russ) Nell and Katie Bentz; great-grandchildren Brittany, Trisha and Travis; brother Harry Gierach; sisters Meta Wilger and Mabel Winter; brother-in-law Walter Bentz.

She was preceded in death by a son, Raymond; a sister, Hilda and a brother, Melvin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to David’s Star Ev. Lutheran Church or Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School appreciated.
