Laura G. Reichert
Laura G. Reichert, nee Esselman, 94, of West Bend, died on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center.

She was born on May 20, 1907, in the town of Trenton, to the late Frank and Mary (nee Laufer) Esselman.

Following her marriage to Clarence Reichert on May 22, 1928, at Holy Trinity Church, Newburg, the couple moved to the town of Jackson, and settled in West Bend in 1960.

Clarence passed away on Feb. 28, 1994.

Laura enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead, and also crocheting and sewing.

She was a member of the Christian Women's Confraternity at St. Frances Cabrini Church, and the West Bend Chapter #721 Women of the Moose.

Survivors include five children, Alice Werner of West Bend, Dr. Robert (Helen) of Milwaukee, Kathleen (Michael) Mulvihill of Richfield, Roger (Dr. Mary Hovel) of La Crosse and Dennis (Mary) of West Bend; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marcella Blazel, Ceil Menzel and Rosalie Westphal, all of West Bend, and Marion Jamrosy of Newburg; a brother, Donald (Charlotte) Esselman of Port Washington; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a son-in-law, Lloyd Werner; two brothers, Gregor and Norman Esselman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lawrence Blazel, Floyd Menzel, Wally Beimborn, Al Westphal, Forest Miller, Ben Jamrosy, Techla (Leroy "Shorty") Fischer, Hildagard (Albert) Luebke, Joseph (Kathryn) Reichert, Dr. Jerome (Alice) Reichert and Bernard (Tess) Reichert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church (due to construction at St. Frances Cabrini Church).

Father Jeff Haines will be the presider, and burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.

Visitation at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. until a prayer vigil at 7 p.m., and also on Thursday at the church only from 10 to 10:45 a.m.

Alice Mary DeLaney
Alice Mary DeLaney, nee Casanova, 72, of West Bend, formerly of Milwaukee, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at St. Michael's Hospital, Milwaukee.

She was born on Oct. 25, 1928, in Milwaukee, to the late Mary Casanova, and married Vernon "Bud" DeLaney on Oct. 5, 1946, in Milwaukee.

He passed away on April 13, 1993.

Survivors include two children, Patricia (James) DeLaney-Lang and Michael (Lisa) DeLaney; seven grandchildren, Leah (Samuel) DeLaney-Karge, Matthew DeLaney, Joshua DeLaney, Lisa (Andrew) Graves, James (Mary) Lang, Kathryn (Matthew) Herman and Jonathon (Hillary) Lang; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death was a brother, Arthur Gatzow Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, with interment in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials are appreciated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Robert L. Reichert
Robert L. Reichert, 79, of Kewaskum, died Monday, Oct. 15,2001, at Ruth Hospice in Milwaukee where he had been for the past week.

He was born Aug. 9, 1922, in Sheboygan Falls, to the late Otto and Nellie (De Troye) Reichert.

He graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1941 and attended two years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying dairy science.

On Jan. 13, 1944, he married Marie Henning of Sheboygan Falls, his wife for 33 years.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps as an officer and naval aviator during World War II.

He had several careers including flying as a commercial pilot and certified flight instructor, earning his master cheesemaker's license, as well as representing AAL as a life, health and disability insurance agent.

On Oct. 33, 1977 he married Evelyn Giese Matthies in Kewaskum.

He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Fane and the Senior Citizens Group of Waldo where he served as secretary.

Robert was affectionately known as the "Night Mayor" of New Fane.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Julie (Tony) Elsinger of Germantown and Lauren (Gene) Freier of Appleton; two stepsons, Daryl (Debra) Matthies of West Bend and Dale (Joy) Matthies of Oahu, Hawaii; a stepdaughter, Sue (Richard) Laubach of Kewaskum; eight grandchildren, Donna (Greg) Krueger, Lee Schleicher, Tory (Tammy) Laubach, Tanya and Tiffany Laubach, Tony and Patrick matthies and Lisa Matthies; a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Schleicher; two sisters, Beulah Willadsen of Sheboygan Falls and Claris Gartman of Oostburg; a brother, Rueben (Esther) Reichert of Sheboygan; and a brother-in-law, Charles Lorenz of Kohler.

Preceding him in death were two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Fane.

Pastor Mark Eckert will officiate and burial will be in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

A memorial fund will be established in his name for the American Cancer Society.

The staff of the Wenig Funeral Home, Sheboygan Falls, is serving the family.

Milton H. Beth
Milton H. Beth, 90, of West Bend, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at the Cedar lake Health Care Center.

He was born Dec. 31, 1910, in DePere, to the late Adam and Sophia (nee Benz), and married Martha E. Blindauer on Nov. 4, 1937, in Green Bay.

Martha passed away on June 17, 2001.

Decades ago Milton sang with the YMCA Glee Club, even traveling to Chicago to perform at the Palmer House with the band of Ozzie Nelson and Harriet Hillard. That was before Ozzie and Harriet married and became television stars.

During the 1940s he said with the West Bend Barbershop Quartet and Chorus while his wife sang with the Sweet Adelines. In his latter years he sang with the West Bend Senior Center Chorus.

Milton worked for many years in retail, retiring from Jim Handy Hardware.

Survivors include three children, Richard (Jeanne) of Oconomowoc, Mickey (Bonnie) of St. Germaine and Ruth Ann (Thomas) Classey of West Bend; nine grandchildren, Tim (Laurie) Beth, Tom (Debbie) Beth, Vicki (Dean) Larson, Andy (Wendy) Beth, John (Karrie) Beth, Steven (Sara) Beth, Gregg (Barb) Classey, Glenn Classey and Gary (Tammy) Classey; 14 grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hammes and Gen Strutz, both of Green Bay; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were two brothers and four sisters.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend.

Rev. Michael Petersen of St. Frances Cabrini Church will officiate, and inurnment will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

The family will greet relatives and friends on at the funeral home Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Milton's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

Lois A. Gudex
Lois A. Gudex, nee Dross, 71, of West Bend, passed away on Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.

She was born Jan. 20, 1930 in Milwaukee, to the late August and Martha (Berndt) Dross and was raised on a farm in Rockfield in the Germantown area.

On June 1, 1957 she married Norman N. Gudex at Zoer Ev. Reformed Church of Germantown.

She worked at various factories and restaurants, and enjoyed farming, gardening and the companionship of others.

Lois was a very loving, caring and kind mother and grandmother.

She was very active in her faith and was a member of Our Saviour's UCC of Gemantown and was very active with the women's guild at the church.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey (Pamela) and Jerome (Heather), both of West Bend; five grandchildren, Amelia "Mali," Kyra, Leah, Samantha and Tyler; a sister, Bernice Wendlandt of Cedarburg; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were four brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter, Chloe Rose Gudex.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. at Our Saviour's UCC, W172 N12533 Division Road, Germantown.

Rev. William Utke will officiate, and cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services with interment of ashes in Our Saviour's UCC Cemetery.

Visitation at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church only from 9 to 10 a.m.

Memorials are appreciated.

A special "thank you" to Dr. Renee Lieknes and her nurse, Barb, and also to the staff at St. Joseph's Community Hospital for everything they did.
