Evelyn L. Olson

Evelyn L. Olson, 76, of West Bend, died unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001.
She was born Aug. 26, 1925, in Waukesha, and was a graduate of Waukesha High School and Spencerian Business College.

In her earlier years Evelyn enjoyed traveling abroad until she joined her parents' business, The Timber Lodge on Lake Julia in Rhinelander, in the late 1950s. The business had been founded in 1947.

Evelyn loved cooking and assisting in the operation of the business and became the sole owner-manager in 1988.

The Timber Lodge was well known for good times and excellent food while under Evelyn's management which lasted until the sale of the business in 1999.

Survivors include her sister, Ruth Grosse of West Bend; a brother, Alfred (Carol) Olson of Alexandria, Va.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Axel E. and Julia M. (nee Riegler) Olson of Rhinelander, and a brother-in-law, Richard Grosse of West Bend.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Harder Funeral Home, Brookfield, on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Wisconsin Memorial Park Chapel of the Flowers, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield.

A visitation will be held at the cemetery chapel on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m.

Entombment will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, West Bend, would be appreciated.

Earl L. Eisentraut

Earl L. Eisentraut, 83, of Random Lake, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at Valley View Medical center in Plymouth.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1917, in the town of Farmington, to the late Charles and Mabel (Marshman) Eisentraut, and married Dorothy Hoffman at Immanuel Lutheran Church, West Bend.

The couple made their home and farmed in the town of Farmington.

His wife passed away in 1955.

Mr. Eisentraut was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Random Lake.

Survivors include two children, Charles (Marge) of Fredonia and Linda (James) Klug of West Bend; a special friend, Anna Kumrow of Kewaskum; five grandsons, David and Rob Eisentraut, Brian, Matt and Jeff Klug; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death by three sisters, Arlene Fabian, Iva Diener and LaVerne Diener.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Random Lake.

Rev. Earl Kruse will officiate, and burial will follow in Boltonville Union Cemetery, Boltonville.

Friends may call on Friday at the church from noon until the time of services.

The Miller Funeral Home, Kewaskum, is serving the family.

Clarence R. "Shorty" Gnerlich

Clarence R. "Shorty" Gnerlich, 75, of West Bend, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at his residence.
He was born June 3, 1926, in Horicon, to the late Gustav and Laura (Dahm) Gnerlich, and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

After his marriage to Rose R. Ravanelli on July 23, 1949 at Mayville, the couple lived in Mayville, later moving to West Bend in 1956.

He was employed as a shipping and receiving clerk for The West Bend Co. for over 38 years, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church of Wet Bend, the VFW Post #1393 of West Bend, the 25-Year-Club of The West Bend Co. and The Loyal Order of Moose #1398 of West Bend.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Gloria (Stan) McWilliams of Albuquerque, N.M. and Dennis (Linda) of Stevens Point; three grandchildren, Michelle (Michael) Litten, Jennifer (Brian) Carson and Melissa McWilliams, all of Albuquerque; three great-grandchildren, Autumn Litten, Lauren Litten and Skylar Carson; two sisters, Verna Kunz of Oakfield and Alice Elitzer of Fond du Lac; two brothers, Lester (Marion) Gnerlich of Iron Ridge and Lawrence (Mildred) Gnerlich of Mayville; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Gnerlich of Mayville; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was a brother, Leslie.

Closing of the casket prayers will be Saturday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church, West Bend.

Father Gerald Brittain will officiate, and interment will follow in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 8:30 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 8:30 p.m.

Memorials are appreciated to Heartland Hospice or to the Kettle Moraine Cancer Clinic.

Hertha "Kitty" Seideman
Hertha "Kitty" Seideman, a resident of Austin, Texas, for 25 years, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001.

"Kitty" (Hertha Alvina Wilhemina Krueger) Seideman, was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Newburg, to the late Richard and Sarah Krueger, the younger of two children.

Kitty married her high school sweetheart Charles H. Seideman on Oct. 6, 1945, in Little Rock, Ark., and they had six children over a period of 11 years.

Survivors include her husband, Colonel Charles H. Seideman (retired U.S. Army); their five surviving children and their spouses, Dr. Sandra Thomas, M.D. of Buchanan Dam, her husband, Dr. Griffith Mose Thomas II, M.D. and their children, Griffith Mose Thomas III (Hunter), Lana Louise and Sarah Mason; Dr. Steven C. Seideman, Ph.D. of Inman, Kan. and his wife, Cynthia, and their children, Jenaya Dobberstein, Brie Meuschke and Mariah Van Horn; David L. Seideman of Austin and his wife, Louise, and their children, Shae Burnett Reilly and husband Michael, and Kate Johanna Seideman; Dean Scott Seideman of Houston and his children, Christopher, Taylor and Samantha; D. Mark Seideman of Wimberley and his children, Michael and Matthew.

Their eldest grandson, Charles Ray Seideman, preceded his grandmother at age 17, and their eldest daughter, Karen Dee, died in Germany in 1948, and is interred in Newburg.

In addition to being a full-time wife and mother, Kitty did volunteer work for The Reach for Recovery Program of the American Cancer Society.

Memorial services will be conducted at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home on Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas, at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.

Kitty donated her body to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Hill Country Children's Advocacy Center, P.O. Box 27, Burnet, Texas 78611; The American Cancer Society; or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Harry H. Melius
Harry H. Melius, 82, of the town of Polk, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at Hartford Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 1, 1919, in the town of Polk, to the late Christian and Bertha (Kurtz) Melius, and graduated from West Bend High School in 1936.

After his marriage to Doris L. Plan on Sept. 14, 1946, in St. Paul, Minn., the couple lived in the town of Polk where they co-owned and operated the family dairy farm for over 60 years.

Harry was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Slinger, served on the Faith Church Consistory and enjoyed its dartball league.

He was an avid baseball player, and was a past member of the Rockfield baseball team, past president of the Washington County Farm Bureau and was a member of the Slinger School District Board for 18 years.

His wife passed away on July 11, 2001.

Survivors include seven children, Marilyn Nadelhoffer of Hartford, Rita Melius of Slinger, Carol (James) Sachse of West Bend, Paul (Kathleen), Laurie Stretz, James (Beverly) Melius, all of the town of Polk, and Mark (Barbara) Melius of Allenton; nine grandchildren, Kelly Nadelhoffer, Thomas Nadelhoffer, Karen (Kevin) Reinders, Christa Sachse, Michael Sachse, Lisa Stretz, Katie Stretz, Adam Melius and Sara Melius; two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Kimberly Reinders; two sisters, Marian Kuhaupt of the town of Polk and Florence Foerster of Johnson Creek; three brothers, Edward Melius and Arthur Melius, both of the town of Polk and Frederick (Linnea) Melius of Slinger; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death was a son-in-law, Laird Nadelhoffer.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 8 p.m. at Faith United Church of Christ, Slinger.

Rev. Kris L. Borns will officiate, and interment will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in Faith UCC Cemetery.

Visitation at the church only will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials are appreciated.

The Phillip Funeral Home Slinger, is assisting the family.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Hartford Memorial Hospital and at the Cedar Lake Home Campus for all the wonderful care given.

Carrie Lucinda (Rusch) Olsen
Carrie Lucinda (Rusch) Olsen, 88, of West Bend, was born to eternity on Thursday, Oct. 25.

She was the beloved wife of the late Malcolm T. Olsen and Kenneth A. Rusch; dear mother of Judith, Steven (Elizabeth), Peter (Diane) and Paul (Pamela).

She is further survived by 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Audrey (LeRoy) Boehlke; a sister-in-law, Ruth Hansen; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friensd.

She was an assistant manager of the village of Brown Deer, an avid gardener, cookie baker extraordinaire and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, with Pastor Joseph M. Fisher officiating.

Visitation will follow the service.

Inurnment will be in Arlington Cemetery, Milwaukee.

Memorials are appreciated to Cedar Campus Partners in Caring or Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
