Ray Noster

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton for Ray Noster, Grafton, who died Nov. 10, 2001 at the age of 78.
Mr. Noster was born on April 10, 1923 in the town of Fredonia to Hugo and Marcelle (Cholet) Noster.

He married Bernice Oberheu in Grafton on Sept. 1, 1951 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this fall.

After time in the U.S. Army he worked as a foreman at Ataco Steel. In addition to the Noster Polishing Co. in Grafton, he also operated a Phillips 66 station in Cedarburg and a Pate station in Grafton. He owned and operated Cedarburg Container Corp., hauling to many states and Canada. For many years after, he was an independent trucker, owning his own rig and hauling steel to many points in the United States.

Many people will remember him as caretaker of St. Paul’s Cemetery in Grafton, a job he loved and took great pride in.

He loved children, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Noster is survived by his wife, Bernice; his children, Cheri (Allen) Buchholz of Cedarburg and Sandy (Mike) Anzia of West Bend; son-in-law, Wylie (Jean) Bledsoe of Fond du Lac; grandchildren Bobbie Buchholz, Marcie Buchholz, Sam (Rosie) Bledsoe, Nelda Bledsoe, Joey Bledsoe, Corey Bledsoe, Dan (Beth) Anzia, Debbie (David) Gettleman, Dawn Anzia and seven great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by his brother and fishing partner, Alex (Doris) Noster of Random Lake, and sisters Janet Sommerfeldt of Sheboygan and Georgette Yokom of Colleyville, Texas, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Odekirk, and daughter Phyllis Bledsoe.

Memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton appreciated.

Aurelia M. Fish

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Church of Allenton for Aurelia M. Fish, who died on Nov. 12, 2001 at the age of 88. Father Richard Breitbach will officiate at the ceremony, with The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend assisting the family with arrangements. Fellowship with the family will follow the Mass.
Mrs. Fish was born Sept. 8, 1913 in Cedarburg, to John (Marie Frank) Armbruster. She married Ralph E. Fish on Jan. 24, 1938 in Milwaukee.

She attended UW-Madison and graduated with a degree in education. She was the first woman to be a Gallup pollster before World War II. She was a member of the Alumni of University of Wisconsin Association.

Survivors include daughters Kathleen (Joseph Pasqualone) Fish of New York, N.Y., Suzanne Elizabeth Fish of Allenton; sister Grace Pretty of Cedarburg; brother Robert (Mary Aileen) Armbruster of Cedarburg; sister-in-law Marge Armbruster of Cedarburg.

She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother John, and brother-in-law Tom Pretty.

Memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice are appreciated.

Evalyn Jean "Jeannie" Eernisse

Evalyn Jean "Jeannie" Eernisse of Port Washington died on Nov. 10, 2001 at the age of 57 after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer.
Mrs. Eernisse was born Aug. 13, 1944 in Richland Center, daughter of Levi Miner Glick and Eva (Grimm) Glick. She was a 1962 graduate of Cedarburg High School and married Marc Eernisse on Oct. 8, 1966 at Community United Methodist Church in Cedarburg.

After raising four children, she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Cardinal Stritch University in 1994 and taught in the Port Washington-Saukville School District for a short time.

She was a member of the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church in Port Washington where she enjoyed a close circle of "lady friends." She was an avid reader, gardener, quilter and homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed long walks.

Survivors include husband Marc Eernisse of Port Washington; children Jennifer (Paul) Thill of Belgium, Jill Eernisse of Cedar Grove, Joseph (Kory) Eernisse of Port Washington, Jayne Eernisse of Port Washington; grandchildren Marissa, Amanda, Mason and Olivia; parents-in-law Earl and Georgia Eernisse of Port Washington; sisters Ronna (Werner)Wagner of Slinger, Mari Lea (Michael) Viesselmann of Cedarburg; brother Donnie Glick of Cascade; aunt Margaret Gillingham of Richland Center; and sisters-in-law Linda (Mark) May of Grafton; Sue (Toby) Thobaben of Sheridan, Wyo., Ann Eernisse of Cedarburg.

She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at United Methodist Church in Port Washington. Burial was at Holden East Cemetery.

In keeping with Jean’s strong belief in higher education, memorials can be made to the Port Washington-Saukville School District Scholarship Fund.

Shelby S. Austin

A Celebration of Life will be held today at 4 p.m. at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, corner of Highland Road and Green Bay Road, Mequon, for Shelby S. Austin of Cedarburg, who died Nov. 11, 2001 at the age of 17 as a result of an automobile accident. Rev. John Gable will officiate at the ceremony. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM.
Ms. Austin was born Jan. 2, 1984 in Glendale, Calif., the daughter of Scott and Sherri (nee Sims) Austin. Shelby was a student at Middleton Cross Plains High School during her freshman and sophomore year, where she participated in track, cross country and tennis. She was currently a senior at Cedarburg High School and was active in cross country. Shelby loved to travel, the outdoors, music and the arts.

Survivors include parents, Scott and Sherri Austin of Cedarburg; sister Melissa Sims Austin; grandparents, Duane Sims, John M. and Dorothy J. Austin; great-grandmother Elvira Peake, all of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; and her best friend, Derek Dobratz of Cedarburg.

She is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by grandmother Phyllis Sims.

Memorials to Save the Pandas, c/o World Wildlife Foundation appreciated.

Gladys Diane Farnham
Gladys Diane Farnham, nee Schleif, 67, of LaMirada, Calif., formerly of West Bend, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, in LaMirada.

She was born in West Bend on Aug. 17, 1934, to the late Walter and Erna (nee Rusch) Schleif, graduated from West Bend High School in 1952 and was awarded the Schowalter Nursing Scholarship.

Gladys then attended the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1955.

She married Arthur Farnham in 1955 and they soon moved to California. Gladys continued her nursing career there until retiring in 1999.

Survivors inclue two children, Dianette (Brian) Strange of Malibu, Calif. and Fred Farnham of Chino Hills, Calif.; three grandchildren, Brianna, Johnny and Mackenna Strange; three brothers, David (Mary) Schleif and Neal (Evelyn) Schleif, both of West Bend, and Ross (Sandi) Schleif of Franklinton, La.; a sister-in-law, Ella Schleif of West Bend; two aunts, Dora Schleif of West Bend and Elsie Schleif of Milwaukee; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Services were held in LaMirada, along with private family services and burial of her cremated remains in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend.

Memorials to the American Lung Association or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation are appreciated.

The Myrhum-Patten Funeral and Cremation Service assisted the family locally.

Larry H. Tainter
Larry H. Tainter, 58, of West Bend, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 14, 1943, in Hartford, Ala., to Wilber and Juanita (nee Wright) Tainter, and at a young age moved with his family to Janesville.

He graduated from Janesville Craig High School in 1961 and attended Milton College.

On Aug. 7, 1965, he was united in marriage to Frances Hilt at Trinity Episcopal Church in Janesville.

Larry started his employment with WCLO Radio in Janesville in 1962 and eventually became the news and program director.

In 1976 the family moved to West Bend and Larry became the manager of WBKV Radio until 1990. In 1990 Larry and Frances bought A-Alert Driving School in West Bend which they still own and operate.

Through the years Larry has been a member or served in the Army National Guard, United Way of Washington County, West Bend YMCA Board, West Bend Moose Lodge, West Bend Kiwanis Club, Ambassador of the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce, Washington County University Council, and was currently a member of St. James Episcopal Church in West Bend, and the Driving School Association of America, Inc.

His hobbies included computers and electronics.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jody (James) Tainter-DeBow of West Bend and Kari (Gerald) Windisch of Hartford; four grandchildren, Jenna Windisch, Emily DeBow, Tristan DeBow and Jake DeBow; his mother, Juanita Tainter of West Bend; a brother, Jerry (Bonita) Tainter of Cambridge, Ohio; three sisters-in-law, Delores Tainter, Mary Sererance and Bonnie Hilt, all of Janesville; five brothers-in-law, Frank (Gerry) Hilt, Richard (Katie) Hilt, William (Cheri) Hilt, Thomas (Elizabeth) Hilt, all of Janesville, and Charles (Dagmar) Hilt of Hayward; an aunt, Ouida (Curtis) Ingram of Baymette, Ala.; along with the special family pet, P.C., other relatives and many friends.

Preceding him in death were his father, Wilber; three brothers, Arland, Eugene and Charles; his parents-in-law, Emmanuel and Marie Hilt; grandmother, Vitrell York; grandfather, Forester Wright, and an aunt, Imagene Speer.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, West Bend.

Mother Martha Berger will be the presider, and cremation will take place at Myrhum-Patten Cremation Service with burial of the cremated remains in St. James Columbarium.

Visitation at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home, West Bend, will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service to follow.

Memorials are appreciated to St. James Episcopal Chruch, or the Cancer Care Center at St. Joseph's Community Hospital.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Heartland Hospice for its caring and support.

Larry will be deeply missed by his family, but will always live on in their hearts.
