eorge W. Steffen, 88
George W. Steffen, formerly of West Bend, died on Nov. 15, 2001, at the age of 88 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary and his daughter Sherry.

Loving father of Debbie (Dave) Elliott of Grafton; Pam (Dave) Hozie of Streator, Ill; Patty Steffen of Cedarburg; Mark (Lisa) of Jackson; Michelle Steffen of West Allis and Michael of West Bend. Proud grandfather of Bryan and Chris Steffen; Jason, Matt and Mike Elliott; Scott Hozie, Ben (Angie) Steffen and Eric Steffen; Dana, Shari and Cassie Steffen; Tony and Diana Steffen, Ryan and Randy Steffen. He is also survived by a sister, Lorain Kison.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Wisconsin Memorial Park-Chapel of the Chimes (13225 W. Capitol Drive) with services at 1 p.m. Interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.

The Church and Chapel Funeral Service is serving the family.

Wilma J. Lorenz, 86
Wilma J. Lorenz, nee Meunier, 86, of West Bend, died on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

She was born on May 1, 1915, in Baileys Harbor to the late Edward and Ella (nee Peterson) Meunier, and married Lester Lorenz Sr. on Aug. 28, 1939, in Crown Point Ind.

They lived on Big Cedar Lake until 1950 when they moved and started Les and Willy's Tavern in the town of Herman which they owned and operated for many years.

After retirement they spent winters in Seminole, Fla. and summers at Big Cedar Lake.

Lester passed away on April 13, 1994.

Wilma enjoyed crafts and bowling.

Survivors include two children, Lester Jr. of West Bend and Nancy (Walter) Wiedmeyer of Theresa; nine grandchildren, Catherine (fiance Chuck Immel) Zabel, Julie (Rick) Gedemer, Nathan Wiedmeyer, Connie (Joshua) Phelan, Ryan Wiedmeyer, Corey Wiedmeyer, Gregory Lorenz, Michael Lorenz and Brandon Lorenz; five great-grandchildren, Amanda Gindt, Abigail Carratt, Caleb Gedemer, Joseph Gedemer and Kyah Phelan; three sisters, Mae Adrian and Florence May, both of Brookfield, and June Stephenson of Surprize, Ariz.; two brothers, Martin (Mildred) Meunier of Ocala, Fla. and Elmer Meunier of Waukesha; two daughters-in-law, Jean (Chris) Winkler and Cheryl Lorenz, both of West Bend; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a son, Gregory; a sister-in-law, Donna Meunier; and three brothers-in-law, Howard Adrian, Melvin May and Douglas Stephenson.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m. at the Myrhum Patten Funeral Home, West Bend.

Father Francis Baiocchi will officiate, and cremation will follow at Myrhum-Patten Cremation Service, West Bend.

Visitation at the funeral home will be on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to the Cedar Lake Health Care Center are appreciated.

The family would like to give many thanks to the loving staff of the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

Doris M. Schaus, 62
Doris M. Schaus, nee Gau, 62, of West Bend, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at the Samaritan Health Center.

She was born on Aug. 17, 1939, in Mayville, to Walter and Catherine (nee Mayer) Gau.

In 1957, the family came to West Bend where she was employed at various places for about 10 years.

Doris enjoyed baking and embroidering.

Survivors include two children, Christine Welak of Lomira and Jeffrey Schaus of Milwaukee; her mother, Catherine Gau of West Bend; two brothers, Norman (Mary) of Campbellsport and Norbert (Donna) of Kewaskum; a brother-in-law, Dick Schroeder of Campbellsport; nieces;nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her father and a sister, Loretta Schroeder.

Private committal services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Fond du Lac, with Pastor David Meyer of Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran Church officiating.

The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.

Anna A Kumrow, 83
Mrs. Anna A. Kumrow, 83, of the town of Scott, passed away on Friday, Nov. 16, 2001 at the Lutheran Home in Fond du Lac.

She was born on Dec. 30, 1917 in the town of Osceola, the daughter of the late Karl and Rosa (Kutz) Voigt, and on June 29, 1935 she was united in marriage to William Kumrow at Dundee Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dundee.

Mrs. Kumrow was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott and the Ladies Aid.

She was employed by Picks Manufacturing, Kenro Manufacturing and Hon-E-Kor Country Club in Kewaskum. Prior to retirement, she worked at Regal Ware, Inc. in Kewaskum for 17 years.

She was also a member of the ABC Senior Citizens organization.

Survivors include five children, Roger (Virginia) Kumrow of Adell, Ronald (Gloria) Kumrow of West Bend, Russell Kumrow of Oakfield, Beverly (Charles) Garbisch of Kewaskum and Alice (John) Reiser of Denver, N.C; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Her husband preceded her in death on March 6, 1957. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2001 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott. Rev. William Robinson will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the church on Monday from noon until the time of services.

Memorials to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Aid or The Lutheran Hour are appreciated.

The Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum is serving the family.

Evelyn "Evie" Farshing

Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 16, at Faith Lutheran Church, Cedarburg, for Evelyn "Evie" Farshing of Cedarburg, who died on Nov. 14, 2001 at the age of 85. Interment was at Zur Ruhe Cemetery.
Mueller Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Survivors include: daughter Barbara (Gary) Graack; grandchildren Mike and Andy Graack; sister Ida Walters; brother Art (Jean) Schoenknecht.

She is further survived by other relatives and friends and was the special aunt of many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence.

Jack P. Vogeler

Funeral services were held at St. John Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Nov. 13 for Jack P. Vogeler of Grafton, who died on Nov. 9, 2001 at the age of 78. Burial was at Lakefield Cemetery.
Mr. Vogeler served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942-1946. He was a sales representative for Employers Insurance of Wausau, retiring in 1985. In 1984 he was appointed chairman of the newly-formed Town of Grafton Plan Commission. He served as chairman until 1995 and remained on the commission as a member until 1998. From 1989 to 1998, Vogeler was also the town’s representative to EDGE, Inc., working for economic development in Grafton. He also served for years as a worker at the voting polls.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Lakefield, where he was part of the church choir and president of the congregation for nine years. He was also president of the Lakefield Cemetery Association.

Survivors include: daughter Karen (James) Engel of Random Lake; granddaughter Sarah Engel; brothers James (Elaine) of Brookfield, P. Thomas (Carol) of Plainwell, Mich., cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria (Grisar) Vogeler.

Donald Ulik Sr.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Newburg, for Donald Ulik Sr. who died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001 at the Samaritan Health Center, West Bend, at the age of 79.
Pastor Jon Baumann will officiate, and interment will be in Zur Ruhe Cemetery, Cedarburg. Visitation at the church only will be Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of services.

Mr. Ulik was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Milwaukee, to the late Aloysus and Ella (Tetzlaff) Ulik, and graduated in 1940 from Rufus King High School.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II as a medical technician with the 135th medical regiment.

After his marriage to Helen Homotowski in 1947 in Milwaukee, the couple moved to Cedarburg in 1956 where they operated Ulik’s Grocery Store. She passed away in May of 1970.

On July 24, 1971, Donald married Mildred L. McFarland (nee Hartwig) at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Newburg, where the couple continued to live.

He worked for Best Lumber Co. of Milwaukee as an office manager, retiring in 1986.

Donald loved camping, traveling, woodworking, crafting and card playing, especially Sheepshead.

He was an avid Packer fan and sports enthusiast. Above all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Survivors include his wife; four children, Don (Judy) Ulik Jr. of Neosho, Jane (Emil) Glodoski of Sussex, Carol (Dick) Sturm of Menasha and Gregg (Paulene) Ulik of West Bend; five stepchildren, Dennis (Diane) McFarland of Spokane, Wash., David (Lynn) McFarland of West Bend, Judith (Ray) Mueller of Chilton, Debra Guttmann of Cascade and Pamela (Paul) Czerwinski of Plymouth; 26 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, Donna Getchel; an infant daughter, Katherine; a brother, Chester; two sisters, Ruth (Clarence "Huskey") Wagner and Bernice (Charlie) Kubinec.

He was a member of the VFW # 1393 of West Bend, an active member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, and a volunteer at the Thrifty Nickel for 10 years.

Memorials are appreciated to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran New Church Building Fund.

The Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, is assisting the family.
