Katherine C. Klein
Katherine C. Klein, 73, of West Bend, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center.

She was born Aug. 23, 1928, in West Bend, to the late John and Louise (nee Kalies) Klein.

Katherine was a life-long resident of West Bend, and her favorite hobbies included collecting stamps and stuffed animals, mainly Beanie Babies.

Survivors include a brother, Jerome (Gerry) Klein of New Smyrna, Beach, Fla.; a niece, Colleen (Kevin) McCarthey of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death was a sister, Cecilia Klein.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Church (due to the renovation work at Holy Angels Church).

Fr. Gerald Brittain will be the presider, and burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery.

Visitation at the church only will be Friday from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m.

Masses or memorials to the Chris Kalies Scholarship Fund are preferred.

The Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, is serving the family.

John M. "Jack" Seltrecht
John M. "Jack" Seltrecht, 62, of West Bend, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, in the town of Kewaskum.

He was born Feb. 9, 1939, in Greenfield, to the late William and Gladys (Searls) Seltrecht, and was raised in Campbellsport.

He was married to Barbara J. Weasler and Angela Richards.

Jack lived in various towns throughout Wisconsin. He was a dairy farmer and farm hand for over 40 years, and was currently employed at the Thull Farms in the town of Kewaskum.

Survivors include six children, Gina (Walter) Hautamaki and Barry (Jessica) Seltrecht, both of Exeland, Bonita (Mark) Hood of Wausaukee, Tod (Robin) Seltrecht of West Bend, Christopher Seltrecht and Amanda Seltrecht , both of Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; a sister, Audrey Volpahl of Madison; two brothers, Delbert Seltrecht of Grafton and Clifford (Sharon) Seltrecht of Sheboygan; a sister-in-law, Sharon Seltrecht of Wausau; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were a sister, Darlene, and a brother, William.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday,Nov. 27, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.

Pastor Oscar Kraft will officiate, and cremation will take place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials are appreciated.

Helen R. Bendt
Helen R. Bendt, nee Sage, 70, of West Bend, died of emphysema on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Mapledale Manor of Kewaskum.

She was born March 27, 1931, in Painesville, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Theo (nee Mulkin) Sage, was raised in Pennsylvania and later in Long Branch, N.J.

She was married to Harold Enger in 1952 and Curtis Bendt in 1966.

Helen was employed at the Naval Ammunition Depot in New Jersey.

A few years later, after moving to Menasha, she was employed at various companies, including Marathon, Bostrom, Seat Manufacturing, W.J. Keefer and Associate of Whitefish Bay, and later Maysteel of Mayville and Menomonee Falls for 21 years, retiring in 1993.

Survivors include two children, Max (Renee) Engel of Mayville and Sue Puestow of West Bend; four grandchildren, John (Kirsten) Engel, Amy Engel, Andrew Engel and Zachary Puestow; three sisters, Barbara Rapraeger of Menomonee Falls, Betty Woidtke of Painesville and Rae (Pam) Parker-Sage of Beaver Dam; a brother-in-law, Michael Kallay of Painesville; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a grandson, Joseph Engel; and a sister, Marie Kallay.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.

Cheryl Matusiak will officiate, and entombment will take place in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend, at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorials are appreciated.

Joan A. Broehm
Joan A. Broehm, 67, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Hospice Home of Hope.

She was born Nov. 5, 1934, in Fond du Lac, to the late Douglas M. and Irene M. (McLaughlin) Supple, and graduated in 1952 from St. Mary's Springs Academy.

In 1953 she married Gerald O. Broehm. He passed away on Nov. 21, 1979.

Mrs. Broehm was a member of St. Patrick's Church-Holy Family Parish.

She was employed as a bookkeeper by various businesses in the Fond du Lac and Washington County area for 35 years, retiring in 1994. After retirement, she was employed by Target.

Survivors include a son, Stephen of Fond du Lac.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave., Fond du Lac. A parish vigil will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Liturgy of the Word services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Rev. John Radetski of Holy Family Parish will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Hospice Home of Hope.

Carl J. Weiss
Carl J. Weiss, 41, of West Bend, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 29, 1960, in Waupun, to Donald and Therese (nee Oechsner) Weiss, and graduated from Mayville High School in 1979.

At the time of his death he was a sales manager for Soerens Ford in Brookfield, and had previously worked for Royal Ford in West Bend and EVS in Lomira.

Carl was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, LeRoy.

Survivors include his parents, Donald and Therese Weiss of Mayville; sisters and brothers, Patricia (James R.) Koehn of Fond du Lac, Stanley (Wendy) Weiss of Theresa, Dale (Heidi) Weiss of Mayville and Arnold (Mary) Weiss of Fond du Lac; nieces and nephews, Ashley, Angela, Brittany, Natasha, Miranda, Jacob and Nicholas; other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Arnold and Emilia Weiss and Andrew and Josephine Oechsner, and a sister, Barbara, in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m. at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, to St. Andrew's Catholic Church in LeRoy at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Fr. Charles Wester will officiate, and burial will be in St. Andrew's Cemetery, LeRoy.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., with a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m., and also on Friday from 9 to 10 a.m.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or St. Andrew's Restoration Fund.

Julia M. Ritger
Julia M. Ritger, nee Felten, 95, of the town of Addison, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 29, 1905, in the town of Polk, to the late Nickolas and Anna (nee Konrad) Felten, and married Alex J. Ritger on Oct. 27, 1925 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Anthony.

He passed away on June 1, 1980.

Julia was a life-long resident of the West Bend area and spent her entire life on a farm.

Survivors include a daughter, Marion (Norbert) Beine of West Bend; six grandchildren, Cindy (Keith) Gierach, Jim Beine, Sandy (Jim) Weiland, Bonnie (Ron) Friedl, Betty Smith and Mary Kay Wiedmeyer; 10 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Ritger of Sun City, Ariz.; other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were a son, Roman "Chuck" Ritger, a brother and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Angels Church.

Rev. Gerald Brittain will be the presider, and burial will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Angels Cemetery.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 6:45 p.m.
