Jean is also survived by the children of Jim Schaeuble, Ryan (Amy), Sean, Chad and Heather (Matt Haase).

Jean was a very busy woman her entire life, and she made a lasting impact on the lives of everyone she met. Jean was born April 19, 1918, in Combined Locks, and when she was 2, her family moved to Crivitz, where she grew up. She graduated from Crivitz Grade School and worked on the farm for her parents. Jean moved to Milwaukee at the age of 19, where she received a beautician's license, then became a practical nurse, caring for Dr. Ruth Armitage. Jean moved back to Kaukauna to join her parents when her last surviving brother, Kenneth, died at the age of 16. While helping her parents run the Out of Town Club, she met Harry Wuyts, her future husband. When he joined the Army Air Corps and went to North Africa in 1942, Jean returned to Milwaukee and became one of the original "Rosie the Riveters," welding airplane parts for Allis Chalmers. When Harry returned home in 1945, they were married in June and began farming in the town of Lawrence, where they would work, raise a family and live happily for 32 years.

Many couples started their own happy lives together by sharing a delicious, beautiful wedding cake, hand-crafted by Jean. In addition to cakes and farming, Mom was a 4-H leader and served on the Brown County Planning Commission for Dairying Improvement. She was also a member of the Brown County Homemaker Society, National Catholic Rural Life, the Saint Isidore Society, the St. Joseph's Guard of Honor and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She was President of the De Pere Deanery Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, and was President of the Wisconsin chapter of the 1918 National Birthday Club. She was a stellar volunteer for St. Jospeh's Parish in De Pere for over 20 years, devoting much time to the Mission Society, setting up the kitchen in the new school when it was built in the 1960s, and cooking for dinner dances and many other church events including the Pascal Meal.

Jean was the cook at the Outagamie County Teacher's College in Kaukauna in the early 1970s and ran the Brown County Senior Citizens Nutrition Program in Wrightstown in the late 1970s. She realized a lifelong dream in 1978, completing her education and receiving a high school diploma at the age of 60. Jean worked for her daughter, Marge, at Threads Monogramming and was fond of the annual trips to EAA. Jean also worked at the Oneida Casino as a designer/seamstress and volunteered at the Neville Museum in Green Bay.

In 1996 Jean married Tom Phillips of Green Bay, with her children and grandchildren in attendance.

Jean's favorite colors were lavender and green; her favorite flowers were lily of the valley, lilacs and roses. Jean was a staunch believer in education and loved to read. Zane Grey was one of her favorite authors; she used to say that "you could just hear the fire crackle" when you read one of his books. She loved to travel and enjoyed driving; she called her car "Jezzie." She loved the Packers - LeRoy Butler and Don Majowski were her favorite players. Jean's hobbies included sewing, crocheting, making lace, gardening, cooking and writing. Everything she did was done with her full attention and best effort.

Everyone who loved Jean so dearly will miss her terribly, but are equally grateful for her impact on their lives. We'd like to erect a statue in her honor, but she wouldn't want everyone just standing around looking at a statue when there's work to be done. We can hear her saying, "Don't just stand there, DO something!" So, please do something, and join us for a celebration of Jean's life.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, De Pere. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 7 p.m. Entombment in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.

Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Rennes Health Care Center in De Pere, Dr. John Warren and Lisa Stockman for the kindness and wonderful care you gave to our Mom. We appreciate all of you very much. A scholarship fund is being set up in Jean's name. Contributions to this scholarship fund can be sent to Marge Switzer, 2410 S. Webster Ave., Green Bay, WI 54301.
