Robert E. Kovalaske
STOUGHTON - Robert E. "Bob" Kovalaske, 56, of Stoughton, died on Aug. 16, 2000.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m., at Pederson Funeral Home, Watertown. The Rev. Robert Kosky will officiate. Burial will be in Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia.

Mr. Kovalaske was born on April 20, 1944, in Beaver Dam, the son of Erwin and Ruth (Benninger) Kovalaske. He was married on June 29, 1986, to Patricia Braaten, in Madison.

Mr. Kovalaske was employed as a fabricator at Blackhawk Automation, Sun Prairie. He formerly owned and operated Midwest Southern Transport. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea from 1962 to 1964. He attended Waterloo High School and MATC.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Kovalaske, Stoughton; two daughters, Paula Kovalaske, and Debbie Kovalaske; three sons, Robert Kovalaske Jr., Jason Kovalaske, and Jessie Kovalaske; five step-daughters, Dinelle Kovalaske, Kim Kannenberg, Kimberly Wheeler, Lisa Daujotas, and Tracy Fuller; 17 grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Joyce) Kovalaske, Waterloo; five sisters, Ruby (Robert) Cumberland, Elysian, Minn., Barbara (Andy) Bachman, Elkhorn, Shirley (Don Lamp) Scheuemann, and JoAnn (Robert) Angus, both of Watertown and Mary Kovalaske, Atlanta, Ga.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one niece; and one nephew.

Friends may call on Monday, Aug. 21, after 11 a.m. until the time of service, at the Pederson Funeral Home, Watertown.

Norma B. Voss
FOND DU LAC - Norma B. Voss, 91, of 541 Monmouth St., Fond du Lac, died on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 6 p.m., at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. Burial will be in the Union cemetery, Theresa.

Mrs. Voss was born on Jan. 30, 1908, in the town of Herman, the daughter of Albert Sr. and Ida (Lindert) Kaepernick. She was married on Jan. 8, 1927, to Roland A. Voss in Iron Ridge.

Mrs. Voss was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Survivors include two sons, Earl Voss, Fountain Hills, Ariz. and Alan Voss, Mayville; four daughters, Joan (Lester) Twigg, Eagle River, Norma "Dolly" Worden, Fort Worth, Texas, Betty (Clarence) Lawver, and Geraldine (Richard) Marten, both of Fond du Lac, one sister-in-law, Clara Kaepernick, Beaver Dam; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland, in 1983; one son, Norman; four brothers; three sisters; one grandson; and one great-grandson.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Aug. 16, from 5 to 6 p.m., at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.

Duane A. Schroeder
MILWAUKEE - Duane A. Schroeder, 69, of Milwaukee, died on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, after a 10 month battle with colon cancer.

There will be no funeral services. Mr. Schroeder requested that his body be donated to the Milwaukee Medical College.

Mr. Schroeder was born on March 26, 1931, in Beaver Dam, the son of Arthur and Beatrice (Kline) Schroeder. He was married on March 12, 1955, to Mary Lou Redeker.

Mr. Schroeder attended primary school in Beaver Dam and when his family moved to Waupun, he attended Waupun High School, class of 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1950 to 1953. Upon his return from the service he began a career in trucking. After his marriage he continued as a professional driver for 33 years, until 1986, when he retired from Barry Trucking of Milwaukee.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Lou, Milwaukee; three sons, Richard Schroeder, Big Bend, Douglas Schroeder, Milwaukee, and Michael (Debbie) Schroeder, Arizona; two granddaughters, Mykel and Desiree Schroeder, Arizona; one sister, Donna Schroeder, Denver; two brothers, Darryl (Jackie) Schroeder, and David (Sue) Schroeder, both of Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made to your local hospice.

Leonard L. Ballweg
COLUMBUS - Leonard "Lenny" L. Ballweg, 70, of 248 River Road, Columbus, died on Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Columbus Community Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m., at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus. The Rev. Bruce Hennington will officiate. Burial will be in St. Jerome cemetery, Columbus.

Mr. Ballweg was born on Jan. 28, 1930, in Roxbury, to Anton and Florentina (Breunig) Ballweg. He was married on Sept. 22, 1953, to Catherine Vander Sanden, in East Bristol.

Mr. Ballweg was a 1948 graduate of Columbus High School. He was a chef at Ballweg's Restaurant, Columbus, for 20 years, then was employed by Continental Corp., now Maysteel Corp. of Columbus, was employed by Van Holtans in Waterloo until his retirement in 1992, and was a bus driver for Head Start for the past eight years. He served in the National Guard, was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree, where he was commander of the Honor Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Ballweg, Columbus; three sons, Larry (Therese) Ballweg, Onalaska, Joe Ballweg, Rio, and Jim Ballweg, Columbus; two daughters, Diane Ballweg, Columbus, and Carol (Tom De Young) Ballweg, Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Sylvester (Lydia) Ballweg, Columbus; four sisters, Maria Drolshagen and Barbara (Herbert) Cooper, both of Columbus, Rita (Bernie) Schlimgen, Mission, Texas, and Bernadine (Dick) Mueller, Watertown; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Cecilia Ballweg.

Friends may call on Thursday, Aug. 17, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, with a rosary service at 7:45, and on Friday, Aug. 18, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus.

Audrey J. Peterson
BURNETT - Audrey J. Peterson, 58, of W6184 Depot St., Burnett, died on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at her residence.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m., at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett. The Rev. James Daugherty will officiate. Burial will be in Stone cemetery, Burnett.

Mrs. Peterson was born on Oct. 18, 1941, in Burnett, the daughter of Harold and Josephine (Helbing) Nitschke. She was married on April 25, 1964, to Robert Peterson in Madison.

Mrs. Peterson was a graduate of Horicon High School. She was employed as an inventory analyst at John Deere. She was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She retired from John Deere after 29 years of work.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Peterson, Burnett; two sons, Todd (Julie) Peterson, Burnett, and Tom (Julie) Peterson, West Bend; her mother, Josephine Schwantes, Burnett; two brothers, Kenneth (Alice) Nitschke, Burnett, and Curt (Kay) Nitschke, Mayville; five grandchildren, Tiffany, Tanya, Troy, Travis and Abby Peterson; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Nitschke; and one sister, Jane Peachey.

Friends may call on Thursday, Aug. 17, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Friday, Aug. 18, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett.

Memorials may be made to the air conditioning fund at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett.

Mildred M. Nutting
MILWAUKEE - Mildred M. Nutting, 95, of 2627 W. Lapham St., Milwaukee, died on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Linden Grove Health Care Center, Menomonee Falls.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m., at Randolph Community Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Randolph cemetery.

Mrs. Nutting was born on Oct. 12, 1904, in Neosho, the daughter of John and Ida (Marks) Wiser. She was married on July 27, 1922, to Ray E. Nutting, in Randolph.

Mrs. Nutting grew up in the Neosho area and resided in Randolph after her marriage. She then moved to New York state to be closer to family and became a full-time nanny and housekeeper. After several years in the New York area, she moved back to the Milwaukee area in the 1950s and was employed with Allis Chalmers for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Milwaukee.

Survivors include seven grandchildren, Linda Aplezis, Flushing, New York, James Brown, New York, Margaret Rodey, Mary Nutting, Susan (Jim) Shackelford, Thomas (Julie) Nutting, and Mark Nutting, all of the Milwaukee area; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Alice Ruenger, Markesan; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Ray Nutting; one daughter, Marjorie Brown; and one granddaughter.

Friends may call on Saturday, Aug. 19, from noon until the time of service at Randolph Community Funeral Home.

John T. Kolb Sr.
MAYVILLE - John T. Kolb Sr., 60, of 1641 Dayton St., Apt. 12, Mayville, died on Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m., at Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville. The Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be in the Juneau City cemetery.

Mr. Kolb was born on July 31, 1940, in Knowles, the son of Mathias J. and Charlotte (Reany) Kolb.

Mr. Kolb graduated from Juneau High School in 1958. He was employed at Mayville Metal Products for 40 years. He was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon, and a member of Mayville Golf Club. He was an avid fisherman at the Oxbo in northern Wisconsin.

Survivors include his children, John (Sarah) Kolb Jr., Horicon, Sherrie (John) Rosenau, Van Dyne, Lori (Kevin) Hill, Juneau, Debra (special friend, Walter Ballard) Eilbes, Concord, N.C.; sisters and brothers, Betty (Palmer) Tietz, Juneau, Matt (Mary) Kolb, Juneau, and Pat (Dan) Oliver, Beaver Dam; one brother-in-law, Tom Godsell, Juneau; one son-in-law, Fran Eilbes, Mayville; 16 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Gloria Godsell; and one daughter-in-law, Lisa Kolb.

Friends may call on Monday, Aug. 21, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.

Edgar R. McDonald
Edgar R. McDonald, 91, of 117 Stone St., Beaver Dam, died on Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 4 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Woodland. The Rev. John G. Bonow will officiate.

Mr. McDonald was born on Nov. 20, 1908, in the town of Yucatan, Minn., the son of John and Esther (Ankerson) McDonald. He was married to Mabel Henschel Braunschweig, on July 3, 1976.

Mr. McDonald owned and operated a Texaco Service Station in the Chicago area for 30 years. He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Woodland.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel, Beaver Dam; children, Judy (Larry) Mittelstadt, Fond du Lac; Donald (Darlene) Braunschweig, Woodland, Peggy (Terry) Davolt, Shawnee, Kan., Kenny (Diane) Braunschweig, East Troy, and Mark Braunschweig, Chatsworth, Ga.; one sister, Flora Minnick, Alberta, Canada; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters; one daughter, Emily Escobar; and two grandchildren, Aaron and Peggy Escobar.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 1 to 4 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Woodland.

Gordon W. Frank
Gordon W. Frank, 74, of 209 Webster St., No. 65, Beaver Dam, died on Friday Aug. 18, 2000, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Dan Massie will officiate. Inurnment of the cremains will be in St. Peter's cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Frank was born on Jan 15, 1926, in Beaver Dam, the son of George and Emma (Nehmer) Frank. The family moved to Astico in 1931 when his father built the Shamrock Tavern. He was married to Kathryn E. Hasenstab, on Oct. 30, 1948, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post No. 146, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Frank attended Danville Country School through seventh grade, then attended Zion Lutheran Parochial School, Columbus. He attended Columbus High School with the class of 1943, until enlisting in the U.S. Navy on Oct. 1, 1942, at the age of 16. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946. He was certified as Master Bombardier. During his enlistment in the U.S. Navy, he was stationed at Port Townsend and Seattle, and Oak Harbor Seaplane Base at Whidby Island, Wash. In November 1943, he was stationed in the Aleutian Islands of Amchitka and Attu for one year. He flew in a PBY amphibian seaplane and patrolled the Russian Coast down to Northern Kurile Islands in Japan. Upon returning to the United States, he was then stationed in the South Pacific and home based at Clark Field, Luzon, Philippines. There he flew missions in B-24's from Shanghai, China down to French Indo China and Formosa.

He was employed at Kraft General Foods, Beaver Dam, for 28 years, retiring in March 1985. After retirement, he and his wife spent the winters in Texas and Arizona, and traveled extensively throughout the United States.

He was a Little League baseball coach for three years, and for 12 years was a U.S. Olympic boxing coach. He was a member of the U.S. Amateur Boxing Federation, American Legion No. 0146, Beaver Dam, a charter member of Veterans of Underage Military Service, a member of the EAA and attended the EAA convention each year beginning with the first fly-in meeting in 1953 at Milwaukee Curtis Wright Field and continuing to attend each year at Oshkosh. He was past Grand Knight with the Beaver Dam Knights of Columbus, and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Kathryn Frank, Beaver Dam; two sons, Gary (Kathleen) Frank, Green Bay, and David (Elaine Sharp) Frank, Madison one daughter, Diane (Bill) Wetherbee, Double Oaks, Texas; five grandchildren, Jacqueline, Ben, and Cheryl Frank, Green Bay, and Kelsey and Kaitlin Wetherbee, Double Oak, Texas; one brother, Daryl (Diane) Frank, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Emma Frank; one son, James Frank, on Dec. 19, 1997; one brother, Norman Frank; and one sister, Sharon Frank.

Friends may call on Wednesday Aug. 23, from 9 a.m. until the time of service, at St. Peter's School cafeteria. A luncheon will be served in the cafeteria after the service.

Maebelle J. Paitrick
Maebelle J. Paitrick, 87, a resident of the Beaver Dam Care Center, died on Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at the Care Center.

There will be no funeral service.

Mrs. Paitrick was born on June 10, 1913, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of George and Bessie (Richards) Draheim. She was married on Dec. 31, 1930, to Marvin Paitrick, in Waukegan, Ill.

Mrs. Paitrick attended the Beaver Dam public schools and graduated from Wayland Academy. She was also a graduate of Wayne School of Nursing, Chicago, and was then employed at the Lutheran and St. John's Hospital (Beaver Dam Community Hospital) in Beaver Dam, and at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau, for 18 years. She was a den mother of Cub Scouting for 10 years, was a life member of the Auxiliary of Mothers of Purple Hearts, the VFW Auxiliary for 43 years serving as its past president, and the Fall River VFW No. 8090. She was also a life member of the DAV Chapter No. 50 Auxiliary serving as its commander for 4 years, and the World War I barracks auxiliary No. 2409, serving as its past president, past district president, and the State Guard.

Survivors include her children, Patricia (James) Giebel, Fond du Lac, Marvin (Emily) Paitrick, Nekoosa, George (Marverne) Paitrick, and Robert (Terry) Paitrick, both of Beaver Dam; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, in February 1956; two grandsons, Dale and Steven; and one sister, Ethel.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.
