Ethel E. McMillan, 75
Ethel E. (Rennhack, Lauersdorf) McMillan, 75, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Reeseville, died on Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at the Continental Manor, Randolph.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, Sept. 3, at 2 p.m., at First Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Paul Lindau will officiate. Burial will be in Lowell cemetery.

Mrs. McMillan was born on March 14, 1925, in Reeseville, the daughter of Roy and Ruth (Klentz) Rennhack. She was married in 1941, to Arnold Lauersdorf in Lowell. She was married on Aug. 22, 1971, to Raymond McMillan in Beaver Dam.

Mrs. McMillan was a resident of Beaver Dam for 29 years, moving from Reeseville. She worked at MetalFab Inc., Beaver Dam, before retiring in 1972. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond McMillan, Beaver Dam; three sons, Robert Sr. (Joanne) Lauersdorf, and Frank (Barb) Lauersdorf, both of Reeseville, and Dale Lauersdorf, Beaver Dam; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five sisters, Toby (George) Strohbusch, Lola (Sherwood) Muenchow, and Sandy (Tom) Helmbrecht, all of Beaver Dam, Joanne (Ed) Stone, Lowell, and Karen (Richard) Klumpsten, Fox Lake; five brothers, Buckwheat (Gloria) Rennhack, and Victor (Debbie) Rennhack, both of Beaver Dam, Howard (Mary) Rennhack, Reeseville, David (Bonnie) Rennhack, Lowell, and Raymond Rennhack, Columbus; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Arnold Lauersdorf, on Feb. 22, 1971; one son, Larry, in 1969; and three brothers, Donald, Ralph, and LeRoy "Junior" Rennhack.

Friends may call on Sunday, Sept. 3, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at First Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Marcella W. Powell
RIPON - Marcella W. Powell, 89, long time resident of Juneau, died on Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at Parkview Care Center, Ripon.

The funeral was held on Monday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. The Rev. Thomas Biedenbender officiated. Burial was in Juneau cemetery.

Mrs. Powell was born on Sept. 23, 1910, in Juneau, the daughter of Emil and Alvina Becker. She was married on Oct. 4, 1946, to William Powell in Beloit.

Mrs. Powell was a graduate of Juneau High School and attended UW-Stout and Lawrence University. She was the deputy clerk for the city of Juneau from 1952 to 1972. She was a long time member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one son, Thomas (Linda) Powell, Ripon; two grandchildren, Kimberly and Andrew Powell Ripon; one sister-in-law, Arvilla Schrandt, Juneau; one niece, Dianna Gaugert, Beaver Dam; one grand-nephew, Dean Gaugert, Juneau; one cousin, Verona Becker, Juneau; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Martin Becker; and her husband, Bill, on May 31, 1987.

Friends called on Monday, Sept. 4, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau.

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau, is serving the family.

Maurene Spence-Wallin
MAYVILLE - Maurene Spence-Wallin, 79, a resident of the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Horicon, died on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at the nursing center.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Zion Lutheran Church, Horicon. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery, Webster, at a later date.

Mrs. Wallin was born on Dec. 9, 1920, in Sabinal, Texas, the daughter of Howard and Mae (Owens) Spence. She was married on Jan. 4, 1946, to Ernest Wallin in St. Paul, Minn.

Mrs. Wallin was a resident of Horicon since 1962. She worked at the John Deere Horicon Works for 20 years, was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Horicon, and was a block captain for the Neighborhood Watch program in Horicon.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest Wallin, Fond du Lac; two daughters, Barbara (Norman) Schwantes, Menomonee Falls, and Suzan Meyer, Fond du Lac; one son, James Wallin, Appleton; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, George Spence, Hondo, Texas; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Horicon, or the Horicon Neighborhood Watch program.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon, is serving the family.

Linda L. Cash
Linda L. Cash, 52, of 401 Stark St., Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center, Oshkosh.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Paul Lindau will officiate. Burial will be on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m. in Alexis cemetery, Alexis, Ill.

Mrs. Cash was born on Dec. 25, 1947, in Detroit, the daughter of Anthony and Wavenelle (Cole) Hottinger. She was married on Sept. 6, 1985, to Ron Cash in Aiken, S.C.

Mrs. Cash was a 1969 graduate of Galva High School, and resided in Beaver Dam since 1991. She worked at the Beaver Dam Care Center as a CNA.

Survivors include her husband, Ron Cash, Beaver Dam; one daughter, Barbara (William) Chambers, North Augusta, S.C.; five grandchildren; her mother, Wavenelle Hottinger, Galva, Ill.; one sister, Judi (Larry) Stuart, Libertyville, Ill.; three brothers, Dan (Jabe) Hottinger, Oshkosh, Michael (Debra) Hottinger, Westchester, Pa., and William (Pam) Hottinger, Altona, Ill.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony in 1986; and one brother, Thomas.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Eunice I. Tessmann
FRIESLAND - Eunice I. Tessmann, 95, of Friesland, died on Friday Sept. 1, 2000, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam, where she resided for the past two years.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday Sept. 6, at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Friesland. The Rev. John Unnasch will officiate. Burial will be in Randolph cemetery.

Mrs. Tessmann was born on June 26, 1905, in the town of Marcellon, Columbia County. She was baptized by the Rev. P.H. Pankon, on Oct. 1, 1905. She was married on Nov. 19, 1930, to Ervin Tessmann at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church by the Rev. August Paetz.

Mrs. Tessmann lived in the township of Marcellon and the Friesland area, and in 1968 moved to Friesland until making her residence at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam, in 1998. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, an active member of its Ladies Aid and a long time active member of Aid Association for Lutherans.

Survivors include two sons, Dean (Janet) Tessmann, Burnett, and Glenn (Loretta) Tessmann, Cambria; four grandchildren, Brian of Madison, Barry of Waukesha, and Shawn and Shane of Burnett; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Tyler, Waukesha; two sisters, Jessie Rohrbeck, Portage, and Alma Babcock, Pardeeville; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Krueger, Pardeeville, and Marion Krueger, Watertown; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Edna, in infancy; her husband, Ervin, in 1967; two brothers, Roger and Carl; and one sister, Bernice.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Sept. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria, and on Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Friesland.

Jean A. Stenz
MAYVILLE - Jean A. Stenz, 68, of N9025 Highway Y, Mayville, died on Sunday Sept. 3, 2000, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m., at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, LeRoy. The Rev. Charles Wester will officiate. A private family burial will take place on Sept. 7, at St. Hubert cemetery, Hubertus.

Mrs. Stenz was born on Aug. 12, 1932, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of James and Minnie (Grahek) Hamill. She was married on Aug. 2, 1952, to Walter "Wally" Stenz in South Milwaukee.

Mrs. Stenz was a 1951 graduate of West Milwaukee High School. After her marriage, she moved to Hubertus with her husband, living there for 20 years. They resided in Hartford for 11 years, then moved to Mayville. She was employed as a rural mail carrier for 26 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church. LeRoy, and the National Letter Carriers Association.

Survivors include her husband, Walter, Mayville; four sons, Leon (Amy), and David (Denise), both of Crandon, Walter III, Jacksonville, Fla., and Thomas (Shelli), Fort Worth, Texas; three daughters, Jill (Hugh) Holmes, Hartford, Judy (John) Osmus, Mayville, and Mary (Donny) Janzer, Iron Ridge; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Robert (Peggy) Hamill, Brookfield, and James (Diane) Hamill, Oshkosh; one sister, Mary Kay (Peter) Cebula, Montello; mother-in-law, Evelyn Stenz, Hartford; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Michael.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. until the time of service, at S. Andrew's Catholic Church, LeRoy.

Malcolm D. McMillan
MAYVILLE - Malcolm D. McMillan, 79, of Mayville, died on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville. The Rev. Eileen Kuehnl will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the John E. Miller Post No. 146, Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mr. McMillan was born on Jan. 4, 1921,in Mankato, Minn., the son of Daniel and Helen (Taylor) McMillan. He was married on Sept. 29, 1956, to LaVita Miller Hug in Mayville.

Mr. McMillan was a 1939 graduate of Rio High School. Following that he attended LaCrosse State College from 1939 to 1940 and graduated from Wayland Academy Junior College in 1942. He was employed as a National Sales Representive for Monarch Range Co., and was later employed as a law enforcement officer for the Beaver Dam and Mayville police departments.

He served as a 1st ward alderman for the city of Mayville, served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic at the Army Airforce Base Hospitals in Albequerque, N.M., and Santa Anna, Calif. He was a member of the Wayland Academy Alumni Association, Beaver Dam Elks Lodge, and served as a trustee on the Board of Governors.

Survivors include two sisters, Elaine (Glenn) Dorn, Beaver Dam, and Katie (Tom) Soles, Fond du Lac; three brothers, Eugene (Inez) McMillan, Winston (Violet) McMillan, and Richard (Pat) McMillan, all of Beaver Dam; two close nieces, Kelly McMillan, Beaver Dam, and Teri McMillan, Grayslake, Ill.; treasured friend, Caroline Birr, West Bend; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, LaVita; and one sister, Marjorie Quandt.

Friends may call on Thursday, Sept. 7, from 4 p.m. until the time of service, at Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville.

Jean E. Webster Davis
ARLINGTON, VA. - Jean Elizabeth Webster Davis, 81, Arlington, Va., a homemaker who was active in community groups, died on Aug. 24, 2000, in Arlington Hospital, after suffering a stroke.

Mrs. Davis was born in Brooklyn, Wis., and grew up in West Bend where her father operated a dairy farm. She was married to Vernon E. Davis.

Mrs. Davis was a 1938 graduate of West Bend High School and the next year enrolled as a student at the Groves-Barnhart School for Secretaries in Madison. From 1939 to 1943 she worked for the West Bend Aluminum Company and for the Enger-Kress Company.

She had lived in Arlington since 1954, settled in the Washington D.C. area in 1943 while she was serving in the Navy WAVES during World War II. She earned an honorable discharge from the WAVES in 1948, shortly after marrying Vernon E. Davis, a native of Louisville, Ky.

In the 60's, 70's, and 80's, she was active in the Virginia Extension Homemakers, serving the Garden City, Arlington, club as secretary and president. In the 1970's, she was the Extension homemaker president. Her major contribution was to assemble and edit Arlington's Extension Homemaker's cookbook, Kitchen Treasures.

Since the mid-70's, she had been active in the Women's Committee for the Arlington Symphony and the Arlington Historical Society. In the 90's, she was active with the Navy Women's Association. She also held memberships with the Smithsonian Institution, the Washington Performing Arts Society and the National Organization for Women.

Her life ended peacefully after a four-year history of strokes and complications thereof.

Survivors include two sons, Warren F. Davis, Arlington, Va., and Alan W. Davis, Richmond, Va.; one sister, Doris Williams, New Raymer Colo.; one brother, Robert (Beverly) Webster, Watertown; one sister, Mary (Raymond Abitz) Webster-Abitz, Juneau; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; and her parents, Helen and Wayne Webster.

Beverly K. Buentello
Beverly K. Buentello, 52, of N8607 Sunset Beach Road, Beaver Dam, died on Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, at her home with her husband by her side, following a two and one-half year battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 6 p.m., at Grace Presbyterian Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Jack Harrison will officiate.

Mrs. Buentello was born on Oct. 6, 1947, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of John and Alma (Minnema) Koopmans. She was married on Aug. 18, 1967, to Augustine Buentello Jr. in Seminole, Texas.

Mrs. Buentello was a 1965 graduate of Cambria-Friesland High School, and then attended Teaching College in Columbus, then the UW-Oshkosh. She worked at Finlay Industries, Beaver Dam, for 17 years, before retiring in 1997. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Beaver Dam, and the Woman's Bowling Association for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, knitting, playing piano, listening to music and was an avid reader.

Survivors include her husband, Augustine Buentello Jr., Beaver Dam; one daughter, Sandra (Clarence) Hensler, Rio; one son, Michael (Jennifer Leese) Buentello, Chandler, Ariz.; one grand-daughter, Kyleigh Hensler, Rio; five sisters, Janice (Wesley) Greenfield, Waupun, Joleen (Jerry) Stadler, Oshkosh, Shirley (Jim) Krueger, Cross Plains, Marilyn (Dennis) Gorsuch, Cambria, and Kathleen (Charlie) Esselman, Dalton; two brothers, John (Amy Salzberg) Koopmans, Albany, and Dale (Deborah) Koopmans, Cambria; her mother, Alma Koopmans, Cambria; mother-in-law, Adalia Buentello, Del Rio, Texas; father-in-law, Agustin Buentello Sr., Del Rio, Texas; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, John, in 1998; and one nephew, Steven Stadler, in 1990.

Friends may call on Wednesday Sept. 6, from 4 p.m. until the time of service at Grace Presbyterian Church, Beaver Dam.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.
