Robert B. Schlicher
OREGON - Robert B. Schlicher, 76, of 5590 Cheryl Drive, Madison, formerly of Beaver Dam and Platteville, died on Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at Oregon Manor Nursing Home, Oregon.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post No. 146 of Beaver Dam.

Mr. Schlicher was born on Oct. 9, 1923, in Fond du Lac, the son of Louis and Ella (Berry) Schlicher. He was married on April 17, 1948, to Patricia R. Fritz in Madison.

Mr. Schlicher was a 1941 Beaver Dam High School graduate, later graduating from UW-Madison. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Pfc., Company B, 354th Infantry Division. He was employed at Beaver Silo Co. for 19 years. He was the first administrator for the Beaver Dam Care Center. From 1968 until 1988 he was employed with the UW school system in the business office. He retired as the comptroller of UW-Platteville. He was active in the Toastmasters of Beaver Dam, Beaver Dam Community Theater and the Platteville Theater Group.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Schlicher, Madison; his children, Allen Schlicher, Woodland Hills, Calif., Mark (Linda) Schlicher, Nashville, Tenn., Jean (David) Martin, Beaver Dam, Kurt (JoAnne) Schlicher, Platteville, Lisa (Craig) Tiedemann, Madison, Scott (Sandee) Schlicher, Oconomowoc, and Diana (Wayne) Peterson, Stoughton; one brother, James (Linda) Schlicher, Ironwood, Mich.; one sister, Marge (Dave) Piszczek, Huntley, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill; and his step-mother, Helen "Mimi".

Friends may call on Monday, Oct. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the funeral home.

Pauline A. Kranz
Pauline A. Kranz, 71, of 129 Vermont St., Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m., at First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Paul Lindau will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Kranz was born on Jan. 14, 1929, in the town of Trenton, the daughter of Frederick and Ella Frances (Gorr) Oestreich. She was married on March 18, 1944, to Myron H. Kranz in Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Kranz was employed at Aunt Nellies in Clyman for 21 years until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include her children, Myron "Joe" (Randeen) Kranz Jr., and Linda (Jack) Yuds, both of Beaver Dam, and Randall Kranz, Racine; sisters and brothers, Pearl (Robert) Limberg, Ethel Wollenburg, and Ginny (Gene) Juoni, all of Beaver Dam, and Milford (Shirley) Oestreich, Campbellsport; three grandchildren, Holly (Mark) Gerber, and Tracie (Joe) Garczynski, both of Waupun, and Tyler Kranz, Beaver Dam; six great-grandchildren, Travis, Ryan, Nicole and Megan Gerber, and Hannah and Allyson Garczynski, all of Waupun; special pet, Teeka; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Myron, on Sept. 21, 2000; one sister, Willette; and one brother, Fred.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Oct.4, from 11 a.m., until the time of service at First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Ruth A. Peters
COLUMBUS - Ruth A. Peters, 79, of 303 Maple Ave., Columbus, died on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at her home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus. The Rev. Bruce Hennington will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.

Mrs. Peters was born on June 19, 1921, in Columbus, the daughter of Frank and Louise (Grueneberg) Christians. She was married on Feb. 16, 1942, to Donald F. Peters in Alexandria, Va.

Mrs. Peters was a 1939 graduate of Columbus High School. She was employed as a dental assistant for Dr. R.C. Howe for many years, and also worked in the office of Hiney Oil Co. for three years. She was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and it's Altar Society, and was past president and a member of Columbus-Fall River VFW Auxiliary Post No. 8090.

Survivors include one grandson, Christopher (Joy) Peters, Minneapolis, Minn.; one daughter-in-law, Yvonne Edmundson, Beaver Dam; one brother-in-law, Robert (Virginia) Peters, Brookfield; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Christians, Columbus, and Corinne Christains, Mesa, Ariz.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; one son, William; seven brothers, Clarence, Ruben, Lester, Donald, Wilbert, Ralph and infant twin Roy; and one sister, Mildred.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Oct.4, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus.

Memorials may be made to St. Jerome Endowment fund or the Columbus Public Library.

Charles E. Rogers
FOX LAKE - Charles E. Rogers, 73, was called home to the Lord on Monday, Oct. 2, 2000.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m., at Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church, Randolph. The Rev. Walter Goers Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Wisconsin Memorial Park, Milwaukee.

Mr. Rogers was born on May 18, 1927, in St. Croix Falls.

Mr. Rogers was a proud member of Operating Engineers, Local 139, a member of Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church, Randolph, and a past member of the church council.

Survivors include his wife, Lucreta (Morris-Delikat) Rogers; one son, Rodney (Christine) Rogers, Germantown; two daughters, Sharon (Fred) Klinger, and Susan (Dennis) Fleischfresser, both of West Allis; grandchildren, Joel (Jamie), Ryan, Christine, Carl, Joseph and Steven; one sister, Viola Johnson; two brothers, Alfred Rogers, St. Croix Falls, and Robert (Del) Rogers, Clear Lake; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth, in 1985; and one son, Jerry.

Friends may call on Friday, Oct. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Randolph Community Funeral Home, Randolph.

Memorials may be made to the Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church, Randolph.

Janice L. Landaal
WAUPUN - Janice L. Landaal, 64, of 516 Hillyer St., Waupun, died on Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun. The Rev. Shelly Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Landaal was born on May 14, 1936, in Mauston, the daughter of George and Lillian (Holien) Lillehammer. She was married on Sept. 11, 1964, to Ronald Landaal at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun.

Mrs. Landaal was a graduate of Waupun High School. She was a member of the Getchel-Nelson American Legion Post No. 210 Auxiliary and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was formerly employed at Shaler, Gysbers Bakery and was a great homemaker. She also loved bowling.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Landaal, Waupun; one son, Jeff (Michelle) Landaal, Zeeland, Mich.; three daughters, Lori (Rick) Golz, Traci (Steve) Flegner, and Cindy (Steve) Zietlow, all of Waupun; nine grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob and Shelby Landaal, Jennifer and Brett Golz, Jonathan and Brittany Flegner, and Reid and Raine Zietlow; one sister, Luann (Eugene) Nimmer, Waupun; one niece, Debbie (Larry) Mischler, Waupun; four sisters-in-law, Mary Nell (Gordon) Braun, Marge (Robert) Redeker, Ardel (Milan) Stelsel, and Ruth Ann (Cal) Flegner; two brothers-in-law, Bud (Sylvia) Landaal, and Byron Landaal; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Thursday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun.

Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church roof fund.

Evelyn A. McConaghy
Evelyn A. McConaghy, of 1105 Homestead Road, Apt. 5, Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

Private family services will be held. The Rev. Kurtis Mau will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, township of Trenton.

Mrs. McConaghy was born in Burnett, the daughter of Leon and Anna (Brunn) Ott. She was married on Nov. 27, 1965, to Hugh McConaghy Jr.

Mrs. McConaghy attended Burnett School and Horicon High School. She was a member of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. While living in Beaver Dam, she and her husband owned and operated MACS Tip Top Tavern for 20 years. She also worked as a checker at Red Owl Foods, Fond du Lac, along with owning a tavern in Oakfield.

Survivors include one sister, Irene Ebert, Beaver Dam; one sister-in-law, Eunice Ott, Beaver Dam; one nephew, Van (Roxann) Rokicki, Beaver Dam; two nieces, Eileen Ott Kron, Waukesha, and Debbie Garczynski, Beaver Dam; many cousins, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugh, in 1982; two brothers, Alvin Ott and Curtis Ott; one sister, Margaret Bartell; and one nephew, Larry Bartell.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Thomas J. Rhodes, 64
MCFARLAND - Thomas Jack Rhodes, 64, of McFarland, died on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m., at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Road. The Rev. John Bergson will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Cottage Grove.

Mr. Rhodes was born on Sept. 9, 1936, in Beaver Dam, the son of John William and Margaret Grace (Soldner) Rhodes. He was married in April 1981.

Mr. Rhodes was raised in Beaver Dam, graduating from Wilson grade school, Beaver Dam High School and was a graduate of UW-Madison. He was confirmed at First Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. He worked for Luken Lumber Co., and owned and operated Construction Contractors before becoming an architect for the State of Wisconsin. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing especially. He was a member of the NRA and the Hope Rod & Gun Club.

Survivors include five children, Kristie (Vince) Klus, Madison, Debra (John) Beard, LaCrosse, Steven (Julie) Dunlavy, McFarland, Byron (Sherry) Dunlavy, Waukesha, and Tod (Denise) Dunlavy, McFarland; one brother, Jack G. (Judi) Rhodes, Beaver Dam; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Jack A. (Rita) Rhodes, Jill (Brad) Beattie, and Jennifer Rhodes, all of Beaver Dam, Joe Rhodes, and Judi Rhodes, both of Madison, and Janinne (Jim) Skorzewski, Miami; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey, in 1997; his father, Jack W. Rhodes, in 1988; and his mother, Margaret Rhodes, in 1965.

Friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m., at McFarland Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be made to McFarland Lutheran Church.

David P. Hammer, 49
MADISON - David P. Hammer, 49, died on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at University Hospital, Madison, surrounded by his family and very much at peace, from complications of a brain tumor.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 1:30 p.m., at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 401 South Owen Drive, Madison. The Rev. Kenneth Fiedler will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Hammer was born on Sept. 24, 1951, the son of George and Elsie Hammer.

Mr. Hammer grew up on the prairie of central Wisconsin and fell in love with the land. He pursued this love, working with agriculture at the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture and with parks at the Wisconsin State Department of Natural Resources. He said in the end, "Tell the world - Love and peace." He was a gentle soul, friend to lost kitties, and we will miss him immensely.

Survivors include his wife, Terry Boehner, Madison; two daughters, Emily, and Nora, at home; four sisters, Marcelle (Joe) Kastenmeier, and Mary (Denny) Grulke, both of Beaver Dam, Barbara Hammer, Madison, and Diane (Lynne) Lueck, Milwaukee; five brothers, Don (Marie) Hammer, Edgerton, Arnie (Jerry) Hammer, Wisconsin Dells, Joe (Kathy) Hammer, Waukesha, John (Sue) Hammer, Appleton, and Ed (Barb) Hammer, Fond du Lac; special in-laws, Loren (Betty) Boehner, Pine River, Minn., Roger Boehner, Minneapolis, Karen Boehner, Paris, France, and David (Chris) Boehner, Forreston, Ill.; a very large extended family, and many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elsie; and one brother, Tom.

Friends may call on Saturday, Oct. 7, from noon until the time of service, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Memorials may be made to Friends of Wisconsin State Parks.

Joan C. Thiede
Joan C. Thiede, 69, of 717 Grove St., Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, and Beaver Dam Community Hospital Hillside Unit.

There will be no funeral services or visitation.

Ms. Thiede was born on Nov. 10, 1930, the daughter of Herman and Celia (Karl) Thiede.

Ms. Thiede was a life long resident of Beaver Dam. She was a 1947 graduate of Beaver Dam High School, and a graduate of the UW-Oshkosh. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the VFW Auxiliary No. 8090, the "Excuse" Club, and the Beaver Dam Writer's Club. She was also an active member in the Beaver Dam Community Theater, and a past member of the Beaver Dam Community Library and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include one brother, Dr. Walter (Anita) Thiede, Pinecrest, Fla.; two nieces, Madalyn C. Conklin, Ft Meyers, Fla, and Ann M. Hintz, Horicon; one nephew, Kurt E. Neitzel, Raleigh, N.C.; two grandnephews, Matthew and David Conklin; one grandniece, Melissa Jo Hintz; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Neitzel, and one niece, Rhonda Neitzel

Memorials may be made to the Beaver Dam Community Library; or the American Red Cross, 36 Board St., Oshkosh, WI.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.
