Eunice D. Nico
JUNEAU - Eunice D. Nico, 80, a resident of Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau, formerly of Fox Lake, died on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at the nursing home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at 1 p.m., at Annunciation Parish, Fox Lake. The Rev. Michael Wild will officiate. Burial will be in Annunciation cemetery, Lost Lake.

Mrs. Nico was born on June 3, 1920, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Arthur and Jennie (Drury) Buttke. She was married on April 11, 1942, to Damien Nico in Mapleton.

Mrs. Nico was a resident of the Lost Lake, Randolph and Beaver Dam areas since 1942. She worked at Stokely's and Green Giant canning companies, and was a member of Annunciation Parish, Lost Lake.

Survivors include her children, Catherine (Walter) Kohrt, Beaver Dam, Judith Nico, Fall River, Arthur (Dorothy) Nico, and Terry (Connie) Nico, both of Juneau, Carol (Tom) Mulligan, Newbury Park, Calif., and Sadie (Randy) Fletcher, Dalton; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol (Phil) Schmid, Sun Prair one brother, Kenneth (Geri) Buttke, Woodland Hills, Calif.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Damien, on Oct. 27, 1999; and one brother, Arthur Buttke.

Friends may call on Friday, Oct. 13, at Annunciation Parish, Fox Lake, at the time of service.

Memorials may be made to Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Clarence Brabbit
WAUPUN - Clarence Brabbit, 65, of 115 Taylor St., Waupun, died on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at his sons home.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 12:30 p.m., at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. Douglas Westenberg will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Mound cemetery, Waupun.

Mr. Brabbit was born on Sept. 6, 1935, in Winona, Minn., the son of Lloyd and Gladys (Bresaw) Brabbit. He was married on Aug. 28, 1954, to Ann Shirley Burkhammer in Winona.

Mr. Brabbit lived most of his married life in Waupun. He was employed by C.D. Smith Construction, Fond du Lac for several years before retiring from there. He was a member of the Eagles Club, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include one son, Clarence (Julie) Brabbit Jr., Juneau; three daughters, Kitty Richter, Waupun, Donna Bastian, and Joanne (Charles) Jellings, both of Beaver Dam; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Lloyd Brabbit Jr., Green Bay; two sisters, June Kohner, and Jean Eide, both of Winona, Minn.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter; and two brothers.

Friends may call on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. until the time of service, at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun.

Anthony F. Veling
Anthony F. "Bud" Veling, 81, a resident of Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam, formerly of 314 W. Maple Ave., Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at the manor.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery, Beaver Dam. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post No. 146.

Mr. Veling was born on May 3, 1919, in Beaver Dam, the son of William and Mabel (Reider) Veling. He was married on May 11, 1940, to Eleanor Madigan in Dubuque, Iowa.

Mr. Veling was a lifelong resident of Beaver Dam. He worked for Monarch Range Company for 40 years, retiring in 1980. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the John E. Miller American Legion Post No. 146, Beaver Dam, and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Veling, Beaver Dam; his children, Karen (Chet) Link, Beaver Dam, Terry (Linda) Veling, Lakewood, Calif., and Fred (Patty) Veling, Beaver Dam; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Marion Abler, Beaver Dam; one nephew, Robert (Judy) Rabehl, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Emil Veling; two sisters, Verdella Abler, and Amanda Polzin; and two brothers-in-law, Gilbert Abler, and Arnold Abler.

Friends may call on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 9 a.m. until the time of service, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Walter E. Gould
HORICON - Walter E. "Gene" Gould, 61, of Horicon, formerly of Darlington, died on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at Divine Savior Hospital, Portage.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m., at Fayette United Methodist Church, Darlington. The Rev. Dale H. Pace will officiate. Burial will be in Fayette cemetery, Darlington.

Mr. Gould was born on Jan. 4, 1939, in Monroe, the son of Robert and Sarah (Corbin) Gould.

Mr. Gould lived in the southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois areas all his life.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Gould, Horicon; his father, Robert (Hazel Ward) Gould, Darlington; four children, Julie (Doug) Tuttle, Horicon, Roberta (Bill) Douglas, Platteville, Walter E. Gould III, Rockford, Ill., and Richard Michael (Tara) Gould, De Kalb, Ill.; one step-daughter, Julie Ann Fecht, Janesville; two brothers, George (Mary) Gould, Darlington, and Mike (Pam) Gould, Fayette; two step-brothers, Walter (Patricia) Ward, San Antonio, Texas, and Neil Ward, Mt. Horeb; three sisters, Nancy (Bernie) Ruf, Darlington, Kathryn Coheen, Tucson, Ariz., and Connie (David) DePover, Juneau; many grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Friday, Oct. 13, from 3 to 8 p.m., at the Erickson Funeral Home, Darlington.

Memorials may be made to the Walter E. "Gene" Gould memorial fund.

Erma D. Ruske
JUNEAU - Erma Dorothy Ruske, 91, of 198 Home Road, Juneau, formerly of 317 DeClark St., Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Paul Lindau will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, township of Trenton.

Mrs. Ruske was born on Jan. 15, 1909, in the town of Westford, the daughter of William and Helena (Spielman) Banes. She was married on Nov. 9, 1935, to Fred Ruske at First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Ruske was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, and a charter member of the Ladies Aid at the church. She and her husband farmed for many years in the Juneau area.

Survivors include one daughter, Marion (Eugene) Bauer, Beaver Dam; one son-in-law, Donald (Karen) Knueppel, Beaver Dam; one daughter-in-law, Lela Ruske, Waupun; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred, in 1998; one son, John; one daughter, Dorothy; two sisters, Gladys Miller, and Verna Swan; two brothers, Jack, and one in infancy; and two great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Connor Hedeen.

Friends may call on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Arthur H. Dehling
CAMBRIA - Arthur H. Dehling, 89, formerly of Waushara County and Cambria, died peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at the Columbia County Health Care Center, Wyocena.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 11:30 a.m., at the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Cambria. The Rev. Roger Wahl will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery, town of Newton, Marquette County.

Mr. Dehling was born on July 15, 1911, in the township of Deerfield, Waushara County, the son of Albert and Lena (Groskreutz) Dehling. He was married on Sept 7, 1940, to Gertrude Emma Schwanke at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Newton.

Mr. Dehling was raised in the Richford area and attended a local country school. He and his wife farmed in Waushara and Marquette counties until moving to the village of Cambria in 1969. He was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Cambria.

He will be sadly missed and mourned by his daughter, Donna (Arvin) Kohnke, Cambria; one son, Eugene (Jeanette) Dehling, Alamogordo, N.M.; four grandchildren, Sandra (Luther) Pohl, Susan (Daniel) Oelke, Sherry (Ken) Maness, and Scott (Erin) Dehling; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Della (Arnold) Dretske, Berlin; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gertrude, on July 6, 1996; and one brother, Gaylord Dehling.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Cambria.

The Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria, is serving the family.

Jerome Vande Streek
WAUPUN - Jerome "Jerry" Vande Streek, 67, 401 Grace St., Waupun, died on Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in Grayson County, Texas.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m., at St. Martins Catholic Church, Highway 67 east of Lomira, Ashford. The Rev. Wayne J. Barta will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mr. Vande Streek was born on March 23, 1933, in Waupun, the son of William and Norma (Johnson) Vande Streek. He was married to Darlene Harrington, on Jan. 12, 1957, in Waupun.

Mr. Vande Streek was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and his family was most important to him. He was a Waupun resident all of his life. He soloed for his pilots license at the age of 16. He was an Air Force veteran serving from 1952 to 1956. He was the owner of the Vande Streek Oil Inc. of Waupun. He was employed with the Reabes Air Service of Waupun, where he continued to be an avid pilot. He loved sailing and riding his BMW motorcycle through the Kettle Moraine area. He was a member of St. Martins Catholic Church, Ashford. He was a former member of the Jaycees

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Darlene; four daughters, Susan (Paul) Yaskanich, Mt. Vernon, Wash., Sharon (Robert) Foley, Santa Rosa, Calif., Kathy (Mark) Popp, Richfield, and Karen Vande Streek, San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren, Christopher and Jonathan Suttles, Kimberly Foley, Amy and Paula Uker, and Ashley Popp; and one great-grandson, Braiden Uker.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun.

Memorials are being established in Mr. Vande Streek's name.

Ruth M. Wescott
RIO/WYOCENA - Ruth M. Wescott, 86, a resident of the Columbia Health Care Center, Wyocena, died on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Columbus Community Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Oct. 16, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rio. The Rev. Donald Weicki will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery, Rio.

Mrs. Wescott was born on Aug. 12, 1914, in Portage, the daughter of William H. and Edna H. (Pope) Ludwig. She was married to Donald Wescott, on July 28, 1934, in Portage.

She was a 1933 graduate of Portage High School. She worked at many jobs during her lifetime, including the shoe factory in Portage, the gas station in Fall River, and as a nurses aid at the nursing home in Wyocena. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rio, and it's Altar Society. She was a member of the Senior Citizen's group in both Columbus and Portage.

Survivors include four sons, Spencer (Nancy) Wescott, Rio, Donald (Tykie) Wescott, Arlington, Kenneth (Lynn) Wescott, Hartford, and Michael (Tracey) Wescott, Columbus; two daughters, Janice (Julius Jr.) Jameson, Rio, and Carol (Joseph) McLaughlin, San Francisco, Calif.; one sister, Lucille Simpson, Oxford; one brother-in-law, Lawrence (Alice) Porter, Rio; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, on Sept. 12, 1984; one daughter, Marilyn in 1963, and one brother, Raymond.

Friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the (New) Vangen Funeral Home, Highway 16, Rio. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or the Rio Library.

Robert L. Spranger Sr.
Robert L. Spranger Sr., 62, of 410 Roedl Court, Beaver Dam, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at the Beaver Dam Care Center, Beaver Dam

The funeral will be held on Monday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, Randolph. The Rev. John Burgbacher will officiate. Burial will be in the Randolph cemetery, Randolph.

Mr. Spranger was born on Nov. 4, 1937, in Racine, the son of Robert S. and Rosetta M. (Pulda) Spranger.

Mr. Spranger was born in Racine and moved to the Fox Lake area in 1971. He resided in the area until his retirement, in 1998, from National Rivet after 25 years. He retired to the Nekoosa area for a year and returned to the Beaver Dam area in 1999. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving with the 101st Airborne Division. He loved to hunt, fish, golf and bowl. He was a member of the Beaver Dam Chapter of the AA for 28 years. His favorite past time was sitting outdoors by the bonfire.

Survivors include his children, Robert Spranger Jr, Madison, Shelli (Mark) Turner, Germantown, Sherri Spranger, Madison, and Rick Spranger, Randolph; two grandchildren, Brooke and Logan Turner; two brothers, Gerald (Lynn) Spranger and Dennis (Jan) Spranger, both of Racine; one sister, Laurie Krause, Milwaukee; the mother of his children, Joyce Spranger, Randolph; realtives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, and one brother.

Friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, and on Monday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorials may be made to the Beaver Dam Chapter AA or the American Cancer Society.
