Vernon K. Evans
OSHKOSH - Vernon K. Evans, 67, of Oskosh, formerly of Waupun, died on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at the Park View Health Care Center, Oshkosh.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. Ken Loehrke will officiate. Burial will be at a later date, in Oakwood cemetery, Berlin.

Mr. Evans was born on Feb. 15, 1933, in Berlin, the son of Wynn and Olga (Berglund) Evans.

Mr. Evans attended the schools in Berlin and graduated from Berlin High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He later worked as a correctional officer at Dodge County Correctional Facility in Waupun and retired in 1988. He was a long- standing member of the National Rifle Association, an avid hunter and loved to observe nature.

Survivors include one son, Robert Evans, Oshkosh; one daughter, Amy (Robert) Kidd, Slinger; two grandchildren, Caitlin and Zachary Kidd; one sister, Vivian Ewald, Berlin; one cousin, Irvin (Pat) Moldenhauer, Waupun; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Saturday, Dec. 30, from 9 a.m. until the time of service, at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun.

Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

Wilbert A. Rutz
IRON RIDGE - Wilbert A. Rutz 72, of Wildcat Road, Iron Ridge, died on Thursday, Dec, 28, 2000, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at 11 a.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon. The Rev. M. Eugene Kinney will officiate. Burial will be in St. Malachy cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted by the Hustisford American Legion Post No. 420.

Mr. Rutz was born on May 3, 1928, in Richfield, the son of Albert and Jessie Rutz. He was married on Dec. 7, 1950, to Phyllis DeMund in Iowa.

Mr. Rutz was a 1947 graduate of Horicon High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a staff sergeant and was a member of the Hustisford American Legion Post No. 420. He was employed at John Deere Horicon Works for 45 years, retiring in 1992. He also worked as a consultant for Time Savers in Horicon, and owned and operated Rutz Refrigeration. He was a single airplane pilot and a member of the Aircraft Owner and Pilot Association.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Rutz, Iron Ridge; one daughter, Patricia "Patty" (Dick) Hill, Neosho; one son, Michael (Susan) Rutz, Oak Creek; two grandchildren, Zachary and Lexana Rutz; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arnold and Ray; and one sister, Olive Pieper.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 2, from 9 a.m. until the time of service, at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon.

Orville H. Riege
Orville "Orv" H. Riege, 68, of W8965 Oak Lane, town of Beaver Dam, was born into eternal life on Dec. 29, 2000, at his home with his family and friends by his side.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Lindner will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam. American Legion Post 146 will conduct graveside military honors.

Mr. Riege was born on May 2, 1932, in the city of Beaver Dam, the son of Harry and Adela (Binder) Riege. He was married to Angeline Rohde, on Nov. 9, 1957, in Beaver Dam.

Mr. Riege graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1950. He was employed at A&P Grocery Stores for 20 years, Schuler's Super Valu, co-owned and operated Orv and Wally's and then later Orv's United Foods for 18 years until his retirement in 1992. He served in the United States Army from 1952-1954. He was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church his entire life, where he served on the church council and school board. He was a member of the Beaver Dam Lion's Club serving a term as president and zone chairman. He was the 1st supervisor of the town of Beaver Dam from 1993 until present. He was an avid sportsman and outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and friends. He was also a member of American Legion Post 146.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Angie, Beaver Dam; two sons, William (Brenda) Riege, and Robert (Kelly) Riege, both of Beaver Dam; one daughter, Julie (Scott) Sether, Beaver Dam; two granddaughters, Blasia Riege and Jenna Sether, Beaver Dam; two step-grandsons, Todd and Benjamin Sether, Beaver Dam; sisters and brother-in-law; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ralph; his mother and father-in-law; one brother and a sister-in-law.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Joseph C. Goeller
Joseph Carl Goeller, 73, of N6583 Shaw Hill Road, Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate.

Mr. Goeller was born on Jan. 20, 1927, in Lincoln, Neb., the son of William and Mary (Mihm) Goeller. He was married to Ida Berndobler on Feb. 8, 1947, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Goeller farmed in the Beaver Dam area for most of his life, and also worked at Monarch Range for 8 years. He was a past member of the board of directors of the Jefferson County Farm Service. He was a past member of the town of Beaver Dam Planning and Development Committee. He was also a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ida Goeller, Beaver Dam; four sons, Richard (Cyndy) Goeller, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Clifford (Kris) Goeller, Orlando, Fla., Steven Goeller, Beaver Dam, and Kenneth (Rita) Goeller, Beaver Dam; one daughter, Mary Goeller, Green Bay; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Rinderle, Milwaukee; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Casper "Tony" Goeller, and one sister, Mary Emma Schibly.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at the church, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Corey M. Maleck
Corey Michael Maleck, 21, of 902 S. University Ave., Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at his home.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m., at Faith Community Reformed Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Don Bader will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mr. Maleck was born on Oct. 16, 1979, in Beaver Dam, the son of Michael and Nancy (Claggett) Maleck.

Mr. Maleck was a 1998 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church, and attended Special Touch Summer Getaway for 15 summers.

Survivors include his parents, Michael and Nancy Maleck, Beaver Dam; two sisters, Tina Maleck, at home, and Becky (Keith) Hoefs, Burnett; one brother, Eric (Jill) Maleck, Randolph; maternal grandparents, Philip and Loretta Claggett, Waupun; paternal grandfather, Michael F. Maleck, Beaver Dam, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and care-givers.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Charlotte Maleck in 1988, and one sister, Jaclynn in 1991, and a special friend, Linda Leistekow in 1995.

Friends may call on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the church at the time of service. Family will receive friends after the service at the luncheon.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

David J. Steffes
David J. Steffes, 64, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Sharon, died on Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Howard Young Medical Center, Woodruff.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m., at Toynton's Walworth Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Shufeld will officiate. Burial will be in Brick Church cemetery.

Mr. Steffes was born on Dec. 8, 1936, in Hinsdale, Ill., the son of Bernard and Marjorie (Garrison) Steffes. He was married to Marilyn Miller on Feb. 15, 1958, in Naperville, Ill.

Mr. Steffes was a member of the National Guard, and executive supervisor for Chrysler in Belvidere retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Sharon Fire and Rescue and a member of the Harvard Moose.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; one son, Scott (Kathy), Beloit; one daughter, Debbie (Rick) Young, Sharon; four grandchildren, Tyler and Lindsey Young, and Jake and Luke Steffes; one sister, Mary Ann Schuppner, Belvidere, Ill.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Toynton's Sharon Funeral Home.

The family asks that memorials be made to the Sharon Fire and Rescue.

Helen V. Voelker
COLUMBUS - Helen V. Voelker, 81, died on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Columbus Community Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus. The Rev. Bruce Hennington will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.

Mrs. Voelker was born on July 8, 1919, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Arthur and Celia (Lucek) Machkovch. She was married to Bernard Voelker, on Feb. 21, 1943, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, after they met at a summer dance held at the Legion Hall, Beaver Dam.

The couple owned and operated Sparky's Floor Covering Shop in Columbus for over 25 years, retiring in 1978. Retirement years found the couple spending time with her family, enjoying summer weekends at their Green Lake cottage, with fishing, and also gardening at home. She was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and its Altar Society and was a founding member of the Sparkettes Homemakers.

Survivors include six children, Paul (Tara), Columbus, Leonard, Westfield, James, Columbus, Rick (Gina), Columbus, Ann Voelker and Lynn (Greg) Belanger, both of Sun Prairie; 11 grandchildren, Joshua (Laura), Mike, Amy, Steven, Angela and Heidi Voelker, Jennifer and Amanda Belanger, Tom, Elizabeth and Willie Katz; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Herbert and Bernard; two sisters, Leona Engebretson and Madge Neiman.

Friends called on Tuesday, Jan. 2, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service, at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Jerome Endowment Fund.

Addie C. Vick
RANDOLPH / OTSEGO - Addie C. Vick, 96, died on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at the Continental Manor, Randolph.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 4, at 1:30 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Doylestown. The Rev. James Bolda will officiate. Burial will be in Otsego cemetery.

Mrs. Vick was born on Sept. 1, 1904, in Owatonna, Minn, the daughter of Herman and Wilamenia (Schultz) Stange. She was married to Richard J. Vick Sr. on Dec. 16, 1925, in Doylestown.

She was a longtime resident of the Otsego area. She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Doylestown.

Survivors include six sons, Wallace (Shirley) Vick, Fall River, Loren Vick, Watertown, Norman (Shirley) Vick Sr., Columbus, Donald Vick, Columbus, Arden Vick, Pardeeville, and Donavon Vick, Otsego; one daughter, Marilyn (Marvin) Winter, Beaver Dam; one sister, Mabel Kvale, Columbus; one daughter-in-law, Darlene Vick, Rio; one son-in-law, Steven Weisinger, Pardeeville; 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, on Oct. 17, 1972; two sons, Warren and Richard Jr.; one daughter, Joanne Weisinger and one daughter-in-law, Florence Vick.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Vangen Funeral Home, Rio, and at the church on Thursday after 12:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Doylestown, in her memory.

John P. Klein Jr.
KEWAUNEE - John Phillip Klein Jr., 56, of 1115 Milwaukee St., Kewaunee, died on Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 1 p.m., at Buchanan Funeral Home, 1425 Ellis St., Kewaunee. The Rev. Daniel Dewane will officiate. Inurnment will be in Knollwood Mausoleum.

Mr. Klein was born on Aug. 3, 1944, in Newark, N.J., the son of John "Jack" P. and Doris (Craig) Klein. He was married to Linda Marie Fleschner on Feb. 13, 1999, in Kewaunee.

Mr. Klein graduated in 1962 from Beaver Dam High School with a letter in football. He worked at Breuer Metal Craftsman as a welder for 1 1/2 years and as a plant engineer for Monarch Range Co./Monarch Ware in Algoma from 1963 to the present. He enjoyed hunting and trap shooting for many years at Pumpkin Center. He also followed his fathers footsteps as an amateur radio operator (K90GT). He was a member of the Rock River Radio Club, was an avid fan of cooking channels and loved to cook for other people.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; one step-daughter, Susan (David) Ouradnik and their children, Stephanie, Edward and Courtney; one step-son, David (Aimee Allen) and son Logan; one sister, Kathleen Klein, Beaver Dam; two brothers, Robert (Mary) Klein, Dycksville, and Charly (fiancee, Patty) Klein, Beaver Dam; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one nephew, Joseph Charles Klein.

Wilbert G. VandeStreek
RANDOLPH - Wilbert G. VandeStreek, 63, of 502 2nd St., Randolph, died on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m., at Cambria First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Julie Waterdu will officiate. Burial will be in Friesland cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post No. 9510 of Randolph.

Mr. VandeStreek was born on April 12, 1937, in Waupun, the son of Arthur and Tena (Aalsma) VandeStreek. He was married on July 1, 1960, to Doris Alsum in East Friesland.

Mr. VandeStreek was an area resident all of his life. He served his country with the U.S. Army from March 1957 to March 1959 in Germany. Following the military, he was employed with Speed Queen of Ripon 1959-1960; from 1961-1967 he was employed with Busse Brothers of Randolph; he farmed in the Randolph area from 1967-1980 and from 1980-1986 he was disabled with a heart condition. In 1986 he engaged in driving truck with Adams Transit Company until recently. He was a member of the Randolph Ev. Free Church from 1998 and a former member of the First Christian Reformed Church from 1960-1998.

Survivors include his wife, Doris, of 40 years; three children, Joel (Laurie) VandeStreek, Markesan, Jay (Elizabeth) VandeStreek, Oshkosh, and Jena (Jeffrey) Schwartz, Beaver Dam; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Bernard "Butch" (Wanda) VandeStreek, Waupun, and Conrad (Nancy) VandeStreek, Fox Lake; one sister-in-law, Marjorie VandeStreek, Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Norman.

Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 5, from 9 a.m. until the time of service, at Cambria First Presbyterian Church.

A memorial fund is being established for the Randolph Christian School.

The Randolph Community Funeral Home is serving the family.
