Alice E. Frei
MARKESAN - Alice E. Frei, 94, of Markesan, died on Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at the Markesan Residents Home following a short illness.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, at 1:30 p.m., at the Zion Lutheran Church, Fairwater. The Rev. Tom Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairwater cemetery.

Mrs. Frei was born on Oct. 16, 1906, in the town of Green Lake, the daughter of August and Minnie (Plagenz) Albrecht. She was married to Albert Frei on Oct. 6, 1935, at Zion Lutheran Church, Fairwater.

Mrs. Frei was a member of the Manchester and Markesan senior citizens centers. She was a former member of the ZCLW, formerly the Ladies Aid, and the Fairwater Rod and Gun Club.

Survivors include three daughters, Marion (Gerald) Luebke, Juneau, Shirley Busse, Buena Park, Calif., and Sandra (John) Stafford, Dalton; two sons, Eugene (Joyce) Frei, Fond du Lac, and David Frei, Campbellsport; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; four sisters-in-law; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, on Oct. 6, 1994; five brothers; one sister, and two grand daughters-in-law.

Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 5, from noon until the time of service, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Fairwater.

A memorial has been established.

The Wachholz Family Funeral Home, Markesan, is serving the family.

Martha DeVries
WAUPUN - Martha DeVries, 101, a resident of the Christian Home, Waupun, died on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at the nursing home.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Norman Haan will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs.DeVries was born on Jan. 20, 1899, in the Netherlands, the daughter of George and Hattie (Kok) Medema. She was married on Dec. 31, 1918, to Geram DeVries in Friesland.

Mr. DeVries and her husband farmed in the Alto area and later the Fox Lake area until moving to Waupun in 1944. She was employed at Waupun Memorial Hospital for 18 years. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun and a former member of the Mary Martha Circle.

Survivors include four sons, Theodore (Marion) DeVries, George (Julia) DeVries, Melvin (Janet) DeVries, and Kenneth (Evelyn) DeVries, all of Waupun; one daughter-in-law, Alice DeVries, Waupun; 14 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Josie Keough, Tullahoma, Tenn, and Mena Knoll, Crete, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Kathy Medema, Berwyn, Ill.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Geram; three sons, John, and two in infancy; one granddaughter, Charlene Bilthuis; two brothers, Herman Medema and Francis Medema; and one sister, Jennie Slager.

Friends may call on Thursday, Jan. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, and on Friday, Jan. 5, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, at the First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun.

Patricia Healy
EUSTIS, FLORIDA - Patricia Healy, 68, of 520 S. Center St., Eustis, Fla., died on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m., at the graveside in Greenwood cemetery, Eustis, Fla. Her son, Daniel F. DiVenanzo will officiate.

Mrs. Healy was born in Los Angeles, Calif. She moved to central Florida in 1994 from Reeseville.

Mrs. Healy was a tax preparer for the Mt. Dora, Fla., office of H&R Block. She was a volunteer for the Christian Home, the Bible School thrift shop and the Lake County Humane Society both in Eustis; also a volunteer with the Cub Scouts of America and Big Sisters of America. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Dames of the Magna Carta and the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Survivors include two daughters, Patti Lee DiVenanzo Dougherty, Naperville, Ill., and Sandra DiVenanzo Zimmerman, Pekin, Ill.; three sons, Daniel Divenanzo, Eustis, Fla., George Lynn, Oshkosh, and Chris Lynn, Eustis, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.

The Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Directors, Eustis, Fla., are serving the family.

Violet E. Steinbach
WEST BEND - Violet E. Steinbach, 81, of 101 Cedar Ridge Drive, West Bend, formerly of Mayville, died on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital, West Bend.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, at noon, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville. The Rev. Ocsar Kraft will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Mayville.

Mrs. Steinbach was born on July 19, 1919, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Emil and Frieda (Ende) Broecker. She was married on June 20, 1953, to Gustav Steinbach in Mayville.

Mrs. Steinbach was a 1937 graduate of Mayville High School. She was employed at MEC of Mayville for 22 years as a credit manager. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, West Bend, a former member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville, St. John's Bible Study, St. John's Dorcas Society, and she taught Sunday school at St. John's School.

Survivors include one son, Jeffrey (Vita) Wind, Toronto, Canada; one sister, Lorraine Spain, Carmichael, Calif.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gustav, in 1986; one brother, Glenn; and one uncle, Ernst Ende.

Friends may call on Saturday, Jan. 6, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville.

Memorials may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, West Bend, or St. Joseph's Hospital, West Bend.

Josephine C. Meyer
RANDOLPH - Josephine C. Meyer, 72, of 500 S. High St., Randolph, died on Tuesday, Jan 2, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m., at the First Reformed Church, Randolph. The Rev. Calvin J. Vande Zande will officiate. Burial will be in Randolph ‚emetery.

Mrs. Meyer was born on June 25, 1928, in South Holland, Ill., the daughter of Andrew and Sarah (Boerhave) Boender. She was married on Aug. 15, 1950, to John Meyer in De Motte, Ind.

Mrs. Meyer was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She always enjoyed family activities with her children and grandchildren. Josephine loved to travel, especially the winters in Florida. She enjoyed working with ceramics and playing cards with her family and friends. She was a member of the First Reformed Church, Randolph.

Survivors include one daughter, Sarah (Jake) Hoffman, Randolph; two sons, Nicholas (Mary) Meyer, and Joe (Jaci) Meyer, both of Randolph; eight grandchildren; one sister, Joyce (Marv) Terpstra, De Motte, Ind.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, on Nov. 13, 2000; her parents, Andrew and Sarah Boender; one brother, Cornelius Boender; and one sister, Elsie Ooms.

There will be no visitation before the service, however, friends are invited to join the family immediately following the service for a luncheon and fellowship in the church hall.

A memorial fund is being established in Josephine's name.

The Randolph Community Funeral Home is serving the family.

Robert A. Kuenzi
Robert A. Kuenzi, 93, a resident of Hillside Manor, formerly of 212 E. Mill St., Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at the manor.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, at noon, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery, Beaver Dam, with military graveside services conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post No. 146, Beaver Dam, and the Clarence Keske VFW Post.

Mr. Kuenzi was born on Oct. 22, 1907, in Beaver Dam, the son of Fred and Eva (Pfragner) Kuenzi. He was married on May 26, 1951, to Adeline Washtock, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Kuenzi was a lifelong resident of Beaver Dam. He worked at Weyenberg Shoe Factory, Spring Street plant, Beaver Dam, for 45 years, before retiring in 1972, and also worked as a mechanic at the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in the Pacific Theatre in Australia and New Guinea. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, the Knights of Columbus and the Clarence Keske VFW Post, Beaver Dam, as well as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include one son, Robert (Vicki) Kuenzi, West Bend; one daughter, Michele (Mike) Ptaschinski, Beaver Dam; two granddaughters, Krista and Kayla Kuenzi; one sister, Marie Kuenzi, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Adeline, in 1988; three sisters, Clara Rushlow, Ann Guse and Elsie Hammer; and five brothers, Elmer, Walter, Frank, Nicholas and John Kuenzi.

Friends may call on Saturday, Jan. 6, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the Diabetes Association.

Elaine M. Bradley
COLUMBUS - Elaine M. Bradley, 72, of 401 Parkview Drive, Columbus, died on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Jan. 8, at 10:30 a.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, Columbus. The Rev. Robert V. Moberg will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.

Mrs. Bradley was born on Feb. 21, 1928, in Madison, the daughter of Frank and Mabel (Halverson) Olivia. She was married on March 20, 1948, to Paul Carpenter in Madison. She was married on April 28, 1984, to Duaine Bradley in Columbus.

Mrs. Bradley graduated from Madison East High School. She and her first husband owned and operated Club 16 Supper Club in Columbus for 15 years, and then she was employed at the Department of Revenue in Madison. She worked at Fireman's Tavern, was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Columbus.

Survivors include her husband, Duaine Bradley, Columbus; her parents, Frank and Mabel Olivia, Columbus; two sons, Dwight (Linda) Carpenter, Rockwell, Texas, and Dale (Colleen) Carpenter, Columbus; one daughter, Debra (Stan) Benzine Columbus; six step-children, Denise (Russell) Sponem, Jefferson, Donna (Dennis) Kustin, Folsom, Calif., Russell (Linda) Bradley, Columbus, Tony (Carol) Bradley, Rio, Kim (John) Shannon, Sacramento, Calif., and Kristen (Ted) Dhein, Milwaukee; six grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Duane Hauser, Columbus; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul, in 1982, and one sister, Gwendolyn Snart.

Friends may call on Sunday, Jan. 7, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, and on Monday, Jan. 8, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, at Faith Lutheran Church, Columbus.

Arno C. Buehler
SUN PRAIRIE - Arno C. Buehler, 89, a resident of Sun Prairie Health Care Center, formerly of Columbus, died on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m., at Marshall United Methodist Church. The Rev. Wendee Nitz will officiate. Burial will be in Medina cemetery, Medina.

Mr. Buehler was born on Feb. 25, 1911, in Medina, the son of Charles and Minnie (Albrecht) Buehler. He was married on Jan. 4, 1932, to Martha Hornby in Rockford, Ill. He was married on June 15, 1990, to Lila Galston in Marshall.

Mr. Buehler was employed at the Marshall Creamery in Marshall for 16 years and was employed at Wisconsin Porcelain in Sun Prairie for 34 years before retirement. He was a member of Marshall United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth (Gwen) Buehler, Two Rivers; one daughter, Beverly (Robert) Lange, Marshall; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; two brothers in infancy, Leonard and William; and two sisters, Olive Strass and Gertrude Albrecht.

Friends may call on Monday, Jan. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, and on Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at Marshall United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Marshall United Methodist Church.

Darrel W. Koepp, 53
Darrel W. Koepp of West Bend, 53, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001.

Private services were held Friday at 11 a.m. at The Philip Funeral Home Chapel of West Bend.

Cremation will take place at Parkview Cremations of Fond du Lac.

G. Bruce Kraft, 64
G. Bruce Kraft of West Bend, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at the age of 64.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend with Father Jeffrey Haines officiating.

Burial will take place at Washington County Memorial Park on Monday at 10 a.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday from 4 p.m. until the time of services. Memorials are appreciated.

Viola Johnson
WAUPUN - Viola Johnson, 97, of the Christian Home, Waupun, died on Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at the home.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 21, at 11:45 a.m., at the Union Congregational Church, Waupun. The Rev. Michael Bausch will officiate.

Mrs. Johnson was born on Sept. 1, 1903, in Waupun, the daughter of William and Helen (Kolterman) Spanagel. She was married on Sept. 28, 1929, to Raymond Johnson in Waupun.

Mrs. Johnson worked as a bookkeeper at Waupun General Repair, which her husband ran. She was a member of the Union Congregational Church, Waupun, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Waupun, Chapter 144.

Survivors include one son, David Johnson, Waupaca; one brother, Edgar (Henrietta) Spanagel, Bloomingdale, Del.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, and two brothers, Robert and Wilbert Spanagel.

Memorials may be made to the Union Congregational Church, Waupun, or Waupun Christian Home Chapel Fund.

The Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, is serving the family.
