David C. Owens
MAYVILLE - David Charles Owens, 73, of 1439 Dayton St., Mayville, died on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 3 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church, Browns Corners. The Rev. Kenneth Roever will officiate. Cremation will take place.

Mr. Owens was born on Dec. 25, 1927, in Columbus, the son of Eben and Vina (Freeman) Owens. He was married on July 8, 1983, to Joyce Brugger in Juneau.

Mr. Owens attended school in Beaver Dam and worked on a farm there for 20 years, also being employed at Monarch for two years. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He then worked at Metalcraft of Mayville for 25 years and retired from Rumar after working there for eight years.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Owens, Mayville; one daughter, Sandy (George) Silcok, Fond du Lac; one son, Frank (Roxann) Owens, Horicon; four step-children, Dawn (Randy) Hartwig, Mayville, Brenda (Randy) West, Fond du Lac, Scott Odebrect, Lawton, Okla., and Todd (Jackie Schuett) Odebrect, Juneau; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosemary (Gilbert) Kwakkel, Ripon; one sister-in-law, Gloria (Sylvester) Margelofsky, Neosho; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Brugger, Virginia Beach, Va.; seven nephews; six nieces; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Diane.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 30, from 1 p.m. until the time of service, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Browns Corners.

The Cottrill Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.

Walter A. Muche
MAYVILLE - Walter A. Muche, 66, of 428 Mary St., Mayville died on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Edward Blonski will officiate. A family burial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at St. John's Lutheran cemetery.

Mr. Muche was born on Sept. 1, 1934, in Mayville, the son of Walter and Paula (Schlegel) Muche. He was married on June 8, 1957, to Donna Neitzel, by the Rev. L.C. Kirst, at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Muche was a 1952 graduate of Mayville High School. After graduation he began working at Maysteel. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. He returned to Maysteel and left after 25 years of employment. He was then employed at Mayville Engineering Co. for 16 years, retiring in 1995.

Mr. Muche was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville, and during his membership he served as an usher, elder and volunteer. He was also a member of the board of trustees, Finance and Nomination committees. He was affiliated with Mayville Rifle Club, Mayville Gun Club and the National Rifle Association. Upon his retirement, he continued to do what he loved most: fishing, hunting, trap shooting, bowling, golf and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Muche, Mayville; one son, Perry (Deb) Muche, Horicon; one daughter, Regenia Muche, Horicon; six grandchildren, Jennifer Anding, Joshua Muche, Michelle (Joshua), Frederick, Shawn Anding, Ashley Muche and Whitney Muche; two sisters, Delores (Gordon) Loehrke, Theresa, and Carol (Larry) Zuberbier, Des Moines, Wash.; one brother, Vernon (Jean) Muche, Janesville; one sister-in-law, Lucille Muche, Tucson, Ariz; seven nephews; six nieces; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Edward Muche.

Friends may call on Monday, Jan. 29, from 4:30 p.m. until the time service at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Memorials may be made to the St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church Pew Fund, or the Short Term Debt Fund

Scott E. Dykstra
RIO - Scott Edward "Hubba" Dykstra, 33, of Rio, died on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Doylestown. The Rev. James Bolda will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church cemetery, near Doylestown.

Mr. Dykstra was born on Jan. 19, 1968, in Columbus. He was married on April 26, 1997, to Jackie Hawley at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fall River.

Mr. Dykstra was a 1987 graduate of Fall River High School. He was the assistant chief for the Doylestown fire department and a first responder for the Rio EMS. He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Doylestown.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Dykstra, Rio; one son, Nathan Dykstra, at home; his father, Gerry Dykstra, Rio; his mother, Nancy Lange, Sun Prairie; two brothers, Todd (Cari) Dykstra, and Chad (Colleen) Dykstra, both of Fall River; relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Monday, Jan. 29, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Vangen Funeral Home, Rio, and on Tuesday, Jan. 30, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Doylestown.

Memorials may be made to the Nathan Dykstra Educational Fund, in care of the Anchor Bank, Columbus.

Harold L. Selchert
WAUKESHA - Harold L. Selchert, 88, of Waukesha, died on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 7 p.m., at the Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. Rod Resheske will officiate. Please meet at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 11:30 a.m., for the procession to Prairie Home cemetery, for a noon burial service.

Mr. Selchert was born on July 8, 1912, in Horicon, the son of William and Lizzie (Muenchow) Selchert.

Mr. Selchert was employed at Hunzinger Construction, retiring in 1974, after 28 years. He was a member of Local No. 113 Labor Union for over 50 years. He was a longtime member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Selchert, Waukesha; one son, Ronald (Kathy) Selchert, Waukesha; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Daniel J. Endres, Oconomowoc; one sister, Virginia Hoefs, Horicon; two brothers, Russell (Doris) Selchert, Dubuque, Iowa, and Gerald Selchert, Wichita, Kan.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Ruth, in 1943, and Helen, in 1976; one daughter, Susan Enders, in 1993; five brothers, Merlin, Clarence, Delmer, Gilbert and Raymond; and one grandson, Lonnie.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 30, from 4 p.m. until the time of service, at the Randle-Dable Funeral Home, Waukesha.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Mildred J. Nelson
RIO - Mildred J. Nelson, 88, of Rio, died on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m., at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Rio. The Rev. Richard Dowling will officiate. Burial will be in Ohio cemetery, Rio.

Mrs. Nelson was born on Sept. 26, 1912, in Otsego township, the daughter of John and Ruth (Hyne) Hendrickson. She was married on Dec. 4, 1929, to Olai Nelson in Portage.

Survivors include three sons, LaVern (Connie) Nelson, Madison, Duane (Shirley) Nelson, Rio, and Charles (Susan) Nelson, Pittsburgh, Pa.; one sister, Marion (Gordon) Sardeson, Rio; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Olai, on April 2, 1993; one brother, L. Elden Hendrickson; and one sister, Ruby Hendrickson.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Vangen Funeral Home, Rio.

Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Rio, or the Rio Public Library.

Linda A. Krause
Linda Alice Krause, 53, of Beaver Dam, died on Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Hospice Care Inc., Madison, after a courageous battle with cancer.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Philip Heyer will officiate. Burial will be in Lowell cemetery.

Mrs. Krause was born on Oct. 28, 1947, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Frank and Alice (Frankenstein) Engebretson.

Mrs. Krause was a graduate of the MPTC nursing program. She was employed as an LPN at Clearview Nursing Home for 10 years and also for one and one half years at the former Lutheran Hospital, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include five children, Rebecca (Brian) Graff, Hartford, Andrew (Karen) Krause, Reeseville, Ruth (Art) Miller, Madison, Luke (Tina) Krause, Juneau, and Heidi (Gerry) Rechek, Fox Lake; her mother, Alice Engebretson, Beaver Dam; brothers and sisters, Carl (Connie) Engebretson, Beaver Dam, Mark (Dori) Engebretson, Portage, Caroline (Bernie) Engebretson, Alaska, Donna VanNocker, Beaver Dam, Nancy (Dave) Chikowski, Brandon, and Cindy (Russ) Rueter, Reeseville; nine grandchildren; special friend, Harold Hilling, Beaver Dam; former husband, Eric Krause; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank, in 1996, and granddaughter, Mikayla Krause.

Friends called on Monday, Jan. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

James L. Grant
James L. Grant, 77, of 915 S. University Ave., Beaver Dam, passed away at home in the company of his family on Monday, Jan. 29, 2001.

Military graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Leipsig cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the Bayside Supper Club immediately following interment.

Mr. Grant was born July 15, 1923, in Beaver Dam, the son of Perl and Jenny (Freeman) Grant.

Mr. Grant graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1941, after which he served courageously overseas in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. He was a sergeant with the 457th Ordnance Evacuation Company, and proudly attended the company's many reunions until recently. He was awarded a belated Purple Heart in 1997 for his noble efforts during the war; the story of the award's long journey received coverage in state and local newspapers and on television. Upon his return home he worked for Northland Greyhound, Del Monte Foods, and Employer's Insurance of Wausau. He then established and operated the Jim Grant Insurance Agency for 35 years. He retired last year.

Mr. Grant was elected to the Beaver Dam City Council in 1984 and 1986 as alderman for the 6th Ward. He also served on the Dodge County Board of Supervisors. For many years he was a member of the Unified Board for health and human services.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Marge (Lucht) Grant, Beaver Dam; two sons, Shawn (Mary) Grant and Scott Grant, both of Beaver Dam, as well as cherished granddaughter, Caralea Grant; one brother, Neil Grant, Beaver Dam; four brothers-in-law, Ralph Johnston, Arthur (Gladys) Lucht Jr., Victor (Dolores) Lucht, and Russell (Dottie) Lucht; two sisters-in-law Helen Grant, and Beverly (Alvin) Kind; many caring nieces, nephews relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Leone (Fred) Luchsinger, Daisy Johnston; two brothers, Harry and Bert Grant; one brother-in-law, Alois (Patricia) Lucht; and one sister-in-law, Irene Lucht.

Memorials may be made in Jim's name to the Special Needs Program at Green Valley, 1223 Madison St., Beaver Dam.

Jim's legacy is one of unconditional devotion to his family and country. He will be remembered as a gentleman of generosity, integrity and a perpetual sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Leonard A. Peichekoske
Leonard A. Peichekoske, 89, of Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at Beaver Dam Care Center.

A private family funeral will be held. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery, Waterloo.

Mr. Peichekoske was born on Nov. 6, 1911, in the town of Calamus, the son of Frank and Angeline (Kowalick) Peichekoske. He was married to Viola E. Mertz in Waterloo.

Mr. Peichekoske lived in the Beaver Dam area all his life. He worked at the Weyenberg Shoe Company for 35 years, until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include his children, Philip Peichekoske, and Carol (Roy) Rohn, both of Beaver Dam, and Eloise (Lew) Garms, Lake Wylie, S.C.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola, in 1991; one sister, Hazel Kowalewski; and one brother, Lester Peichekoske.

There will be no visitation.

Mary Beth Roell
IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. - Mary Beth Roell, 56, of 929 East F St., Iron Mountain, Mich., died on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at her daughter's home in Milwaukee.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary and St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Daniel Zaloga will officiate.

Mrs. Roell was born on Oct. 29, 1944, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Henry and Frances Henes. She was married in May 1965, to Larry Roell.

Mrs. Roell graduated from Beaver Dam High School and Sacred Heart Nursing School in Milwaukee. She worked part time at Hyland Nursing Home, Iron Mountain for many years. She was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Church, Iron Mountain, Chapter CX of the PEO Sisterhood, the Chippewa Club and the S & B Tea Group. She enjoyed quilting, traveling and watching old movies.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Roell, Iron Mountain, Mich.; three daughters, Julie (Mark) Riutta, Iron Mountain, Mich., Kristine (Paul) Kroog, Milwaukee, and; Amy Roell, Palm Harbor, Fla.; one son, John (Amy) Roell, Manchester, N.H.; four grandchildren, Sarah and Neil Riutta, and Katherine and Henry Roell; her mother, Frances Henes, Milwaukee; one brother, Ralph (Kay) Henes, Madison; mother-in-law, Agnes Roell, Channing; special friend, Mary Johnson; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 30, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a parish prayer at 7 p.m., at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich.

Dr. Margaret L. Pluckhan
DENVER - Dr. Margaret L. Pluckhan, 75, of Denver, died on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000.

The funeral was held on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Augustana Lutheran Church, Denver. Cremation followed.

Dr. Pluckhan was born on Nov. 9, 1925, in Watertown, the daughter of Jack and Verona (Rogler) Pluckhan.

Dr. Pluckhan was a 1943 graduate of Juneau High School. She earned her RN and bachelor's degrees in nursing from UW-Madison, her master's degree in personnel and guidance from the University of Colorado and her doctorate in communications methodology from the University of Denver. She held teaching positions at the University of Colorado School of Nursing and Wichita State University. She was employed at Fort Morgan Mental Health Center and Colorado State Department of Health, retiring in 1986.

Survivors include one sister, Lois Pluckhan, Madison; one brother, Jack (Nancy) Pluckhan, Madison, Ga.; one aunt; five nieces and nephews; three great-nieces and nephews; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
