Marie W. Eliason
MILWAUKEE - Marie W. Eliason, 76, of Milwaukee, died on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m., at the Stoughton United Methodist Church, 525 Lincoln Ave., Stoughton. Burial will immediately follow, in Riverside cemetery, Stoughton.

Mrs. Eliason was born on Jan. 3, 1925, in West Kewaunee, the daughter of Brenton and Emma (Schroeder) Wiese. She was married on Nov. 16, 1952, to Rev. Al B. Eliason.

Mrs. Eliason and her family moved from the family farm to Columbus, then to Beaver Dam, where her father established the Home Dairy. After her father's death in 1935, mother and daughter lived in Wausau, where Marie graduated from high school and worked in the personnel division for Employees Mutual Insurance Company. She was active as her church organist, choir director, youth counselor and secretary. She continued to serve through music and dramatic programs, teaching and administration work in United Methodist churches in the Wisconsin communities where her husband was appointed, notably, Markesan, Fond du Lac, East Troy and Milwaukee (Central UMC). After her husband's death in April 1992, she continued to participate in church and community. She moved to the Milwaukee Catholic Home in October 1998 and enjoyed many activities there.

Mrs. Eliason is remembered and survived by one daughter, Christen M. Eliason, Washington, D.C.; cousins, friends and caretakers.

She was preceded in death by her father, Benton Wiese, in 1935; her mother, Emma Wiese, in 1991 (buried with her father and grandmother, at Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam); and her husband, Rev. Al. Eliason, in April 1992.

Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 8, from noon until the time of service, at Stoughton United Methodist Church.

The Olson-Holzhutter-Cress Funeral Home, Stoughton, is serving the family.

Robert C. Drake
PORTAGE - Robert C. Drake, 71, of Portage, died on Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, after a courageous battle with cancer.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at 11 a.m., at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home, Portage. The Rev. A. Stanley Christiansen will officiate. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Mr. Drake was born on March 7, 1929, in Clyman, the son of Raymond and Elona (Schmeling) Drake. He was married on June 6, 1954, to Marlene Dietrich at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Oak Grove.

Mr. Drake was 1948 graduate of Juneau High School. He drove in the feeder division for United Parcel Service for 30 years, retiring on April 1, 1992. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, a member of the Portage Rod and Gun Club and Circle of Honor of U.P.S. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and woodworking. He was a loving husband and father, a proud grandfather and a wonderful friend to all who knew him. His dignity and enthusiasm for life and love of family and friends will remain with us for eternity.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Drake, Portage; three children, Jeffrey (AnnMarie Carlson Drake) Drake, Minneapolis, Kimberly (Douglas Barnes) Drake Barnes, and David (Kim Anderson Drake) Drake, both of Madison; one brother, Royal (Marilyn) Drake, Waupun; one sister, Shirley (Tom) Johnson, New Berlin; one sister-in-law, Anita Drake, Mukwanago; four grandchildren, Kathleen, Natasha, Jeremy and Alyssa; step-mother-in-law, Frances Dietrich, Harrisville; cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Francis and Vernon Drake, and Leon Drake, in infancy; and one sister-in-law, Jardina Drake.

Friends may call on Friday, Feb. 9, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home, Portage.

Raymond J. Thiel
Raymond J. Thiel, 69, of Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, surrounded by his family, at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, at 11 a.m., with closing services from the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, at 10:30 a.m., to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Charles Scheuerell will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick's cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Thiel was born on April 23, 1931, in Beaver Dam, the son of Edward and Rose (Gresch) Thiel. He was married on Feb. 13, 1954, to Janet Arnet at St. Patrick's Church, Whitewater.

Mr. Thiel was a lifelong resident of Beaver Dam. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War, from 1949 to 1952. He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He was employed by the city of Beaver Dam from 1953 until his retirement in 1993. He worked at the water utilities and retired as the superintendent of the department. He was a life member of the American Water Works Association. Mr. Thiel was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Thiel, Beaver Dam; three children, Michael (Kerri) Thiel, Oak Creek, Laura (James) Drake, West Salem, and Daniel (Suzanne) Thiel, Beaver Dam; eight grandchildren, Aaron and Andrea Thiel, Ryan Mullens, Erika and Jordan Drake, and Nicole, Dannielle and Mackenzie Thiel; one brother, Francis (Lee) Thiel, Fond du Lac; seven sisters, Lorna Starks and Dorothy Italiano, both of Beaver Dam, Gladys Wheeler, Simi, Calif., Ruth Hoeft, Minnesota Junction, Janet Clark, Naples, Fla., Mary (George) Leonhard, Wausau, and Susan (James) Rank, Cambridge; one sister-in-law, Judith Schaller, Muncie, Ind.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Ralph, Donald and Leroy.

Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Friday, Feb. 9, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A parish vigil will be held on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 7:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Renovation Fund or the Beaver Dam Hospice Program.

Francis L. Nowak
Francis L. Nowak, 75, of 201 Wayland St., Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Nowak was born on March 4, 1925, in the town of Westford, the son of Andrew and Gertrude (Neuman) Nowak. He was married on May 5, 1951, to Arlene Klas in Beaver Dam.

Mr. Nowak was a lifelong resident of Beaver Dam. He worked at Metalfab Co., Beaver Dam, for 42 years, retiring in 1990. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, where he served as an usher.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Nowak, Beaver Dam; two sons, Ronald Nowak, Oshkosh, and Michael Nowak, Lacey, Wash.; four daughters, Christine Braskamp, Janesville, Katherine (Steve) Rusk, Torence, Calif., Sally Nowak, Tacoma, Wash., and Donna (Melvin) Goss, Beaver Dam; six grandsons, Duane (Carrie) Braskamp, Greg and Andy Nowak, and Brandon, Kyle and Mitchell Goss; two sisters, Marie Thompson, Des Moines, Iowa, and Josephine Salzman, Fall River; two sisters-in-law, Mary Nowak, Beaver Dam, and Connie, Nowak Albuquerque, N.M.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Douglas Nowak.

Friends may call on Sunday, Feb. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home Beaver Dam.

Walter H. Reinhard
TOWN OF CALAMUS - Walter H. "Butch" Reinhard, 54, of N6436 Forest Road, town of Calamus, died on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 11:30 a.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Philip Heyer will officiate. Burial will be in Lowell cemetery.

Mr. Reinhard was born on March 16, 1946, the son of Harris and Bernice (Schaefer) Reinhard. He was married on Nov. 19, 1977, to Ronda Zeatlow at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Reinhard was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. He worked on his family farm and other local farms, he also worked in masonry and for Beaver Tree Service earlier in his life. He liked woodworking, fishing, camping and spending time with his grandsons.

Survivors include his wife, Ronda Reinhard, Beaver Dam; one son, Keith (Stacy) Reinhard, Beaver Dam; his mother, Bernice Reinhard, Beaver Dam; two sisters, Anna (Robert) Schutte, Beaver Dam, and Linda "Barbie" (Don Jr.) Willis, Apache Junction, Ariz.; two grandsons, Dylan and Austin Reinhard, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and one niece in infancy.

Friends may call on Saturday, Feb. 10, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Lorraine M. Schaefer, 81
JUNEAU - Lorraine M. Schaefer, 81, a resident of Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau, formerly of Beaver Dam, died on Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at the nursing home.

There will be no funeral service. Mrs. Schaefer will be cremated.

Mrs. Schaefer was born on July 20, 1919, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Wiselus) Schaefer. She was married to Donald Schaefer.

Mrs. Schaefer was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School, then lived in Milwaukee for many years before moving back to Beaver Dam, in 1992.

Survivors include three sisters, Sylvia Romeo, Pewaukee, Genevieve Soboleski, and Gladys (Bud) Schoenwetter, both of Beaver Dam; one brother, Jack (Dorothy) Kutcher, Beaver Dam; one sister-in-law, Nancy Behrend, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; two sons, Charles and David Schaefer; two brothers, Don (LaVern) Kutcher and Cal Behrend; two sisters, Marge Else and Adeline (Aelred) Baszynski; and three brothers-in-law, Leo Soboleski, Rueben Else, and James Romeo.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, or the Alzheimer's Association.

Charles R. Zuhlke
HORICON - Charles R. Zuhlke, 74, of Clinton St., Horicon, formerly of Burnett, died on Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon. The Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mr. Zuhlke was born on March 23, 1926, in Montello, the son of William and Mae (Sutfin) Zuhlke. He was married on Aug. 12, 1950, to Lois Dobbratz in Randolph.

Mr. Zuhlke served in World War II in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946, then in the Air Force from 1947 to 1950. He worked for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources at Horicon, in fish management for over 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW of Horicon, the 40 & 8 of Dodge County and St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Christa (Jon) Curry, Horicon, and Lori Zuhlke, Mayville; one son, Larry (Sherry) Zuhlke, Burnett; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert (Frances) Zuhlke, Prescott, Ariz., Clarence (Ann) Zuhlke, Randolph, and Harold (Mary) Zuhlke, Beaver Dam; four sisters, Ella Mae Christensen, Westfield, Doris Standish, Madison, Irene (Ken) Matuseski, Beaver Dam, and Charlotte (Harry) Boomsma, Randolph; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois, in 1998; one son, Charles; three brothers, Edward, John and Walter; four sisters, Leone Albright, Winifred Koepke, Mildred Hill and Sarah Zuhlke; and one daughter-in-law, Catherine.

Friends may call on Monday, Feb. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Tuesday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Memorials may be made to St. Stephen Church new building fund.

Glenn H. Wendorff
MAYVILLE - Glenn H. "Windy" Wendorff, 71, of 110 N. Clark St., Mayville, died on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Edward Blonski will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Mayville.

Mr. Wendorff was born on July 24, 1929, in Hartford, the son of William and Emma (Handel) Wendorff.

Mr. Wendorff was a retired truck driver. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, a member of the Mayville American Legion Post No. 69 and a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Survivors include one brother, Earl (Lucille) Wendorff, Mayville; four sisters, Marcella Hildebrandt, Mayville, Eunice Beck, Theresa, Pearl (Rueben) Bintzler, Grafton, and Jeanette (Gerald) Schellpfeffer, Cottage Grove; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Feb. 13, from 9 a.m. until the time of service, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church Mayville.

Memorials may be made to St. John's debt fund.

Donna Bauer
TURTLE LAKE - Donna Bauer, 65, of Turtle Lake, died on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m., at the Union Congregational Church, Waupun. The Rev. Michael Bausch will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Bauer was born on April 15, 1935, in Waupun, the daughter of Edward and Ester (Frye) McDowell. She was married on April 16, 1955 to Robert Kraemer in Waupun. She was later married in 1991, to Randall Bauer

Mrs. Bauer worked at the Schrank Clinic, Waupun, as an office manager and later retired from the Department of Revenue, Madison. She enjoyed visiting casinos throughout the United States, was an avid reader and especially enjoyed being at the lake in the summer.

Survivors include one son, Garth (Peg) Kraemer, Neshkoro; two daughters, Dawn (Mark) Johnson, Waupun, and Ellen (Dennis) Plantz, Chilton; four grandchildren, Wesley Kraemer, Hillary Johnson, and Cameron and Ryan Plantz; one brother, Lynn (Pat) McDowell, Rice Lake; two sisters, Audrey (Lester) Pettack, Green Lake, and Karen (Tony) Bentz, Beaver Dam; two step-sons, Greg (Mary Beth) Bauer, and Allen (Holly) Bauer; one step-daughter, JoEllen (Tim) Schultz; nine step-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by both husbands; an infant brother; and her parents.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Feb. 13, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Union Congregational Church, Waupun.

Norma Kukuk
Norma Kukuk, 88, died peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam, where she had resided since September of 2000.

In accordance with Mrs. Kukuk's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Burial will be in early spring, at Riverside Memorial Park, Fox Lake.

Mrs. Kukuk was born on Nov. 27, 1912, in Portland, Maine, the daughter of James W. and Elinor (Chapin) Craig. She was married on Aug. 31, 1945, to Harry Kukuk in Los Vegas.

Mrs. Kukuk attended schools in South Portland and Leminster Maine. She worked for People's Drug Store in Washington, D.C., and a national war plant in Los Angeles in the mid 1940s. After marriage, she and her husband made their home in Madison and Beaver Dam before making their permanent home in Fox Lake.

Mrs. Kukuk was a sweet, petite lady with a lot of "spunk." She was always there to help someone. She was an active member of the Fox Lake Lions Club and attended Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt. She also loved flowers, gardening and traveled through out the United States. She will be sadly missed and mourned by family and friends.

Survivors include one brother, Warren Hall Craig, Petersborough, N.H.; four nieces, Janice C. Davis, Loudon, N.H., Lois (Stuart) Smith, Columbus, Betty Kloostra, Waupun, and Audrey Unertl, Beaver Dam; one sister-in-law, Daisy Kukuk, Columbus; special friends and caretakers, John and Sheila DaValt, and Ardell and Jenice Bowie, all of Beaver Dam; many fellow Lions and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Harry, on March 28, 1962.

In accordance with Mrs. Kukuk's wishes, there will be no visitation.

The Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake, is serving the family.
