Mary A. Tillema
FOND DU LAC - Mary Alice Tillema, 84, died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at Manor Care in Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m., at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau. The Rev. Paul Foulke will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Tillema was born on Dec. 17, 1916, in Columbus, Neb., the daughter of Alan J. and Carrie (Reider) Ross. She was married on Jan. 14, 1936, to Jess Tillema.

Mrs. Tillema was reared by her grandparents, Mary K. and Henry Reider, after her mothers death when Mary was two years of age. She worked at Dairyland Inc., Juneau, from 1957 to 1965, and as district secretary for the Dodgeland School District from 1965 to 1984. She was well known for her kindness, generosity and her love of craftwork. Her children will cherish the many personal treasures she created for them.

Survivors include five children, George (Jan) Tillema, Eau Claire, Ross (Carol) Tillema, Juneau, Thirza (Roy) Kuhlman, Horicon, Jean (Ronald) Mueller, Janesville, and Faye (Kristopher) Hampton, Cottage Grove; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who adored her; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Feb. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau, and on Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 1 p.m. until the time of service, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to an Alzheimer's support group or research organization, or to a charitable organization of one's choice.

Robert P. Sears
Robert P. Sears, 86, of Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

There will be no funeral service. Mr. Sears will be cremated. Burial will be at a later date, at Sacred Heart cemetery, Manawa.

Mr. Sears was born on Aug. 3, 1914, in West Duluth, Minn., the son of Harry and Lucy (Hartough) Sears. He was married on July 5, 1941, to Marie Bozile in Milwaukee.

Mr. Sears worked at Milbrew Co., Juneau, for 45 years, starting as a boiler engineer and retiring as plant manager in 1982, at the age of 68. He was a member of the International Engineers Union and worked with the Civilian Conservation Corp in Hayward. He was proud of his achievements and later returned to see the success of his reforestation efforts. He enjoyed wood carving birds and ducks, building his retirement cabin and its furnishings and was an avid reader. He was a good mentor to all!

Survivors include his wife, Marie Sears, Beaver Dam; three daughters, Marie (Mike) Siegrist, Watertown, Lucy (Jim) Putnam, Clintonville, and Eva (Brian) Burnett, Beaver Dam; one son, Geoffrey (special friend, Ann) Sears, Milwaukee; two grandchildren, Rebecca Hiller, Clintonville, and Brandon Burnett, Beaver Dam; one great-grandson, Christian Hiller; one sister-in-law, Dawn Sears, Fond du Lac; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lillian Sears, and Gladys Behrens; three brothers, Art, Ray and Patrick Sears; and one nephew, Beau Behrens.

Friends may call on Saturday, Feb. 10, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Dr. James E. Albrecht
JACKSON - Dr. James E. Albrecht, 85, of Jackson, died on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran cemetery, Jackson.

Dr. Albrecht was born on Feb. 6, 1916, in Beaver Dam, the son of Herbert and Cora (Keil) Albrecht. He was married on Aug. 18, 1944, to Marian F. Peters at Bay View Bethel.

Dr. Albrecht is survived by three children, Lynn (Dr. Jesse) Vegafria, Peter (Becky) Albrecht, and Dr. Charles (Linda) Albrecht; three grandchildren, David Vegafria, Cora (Dr. Matt) Jones, and Maegwin Albrecht-Struble; one sister, Carol Heffner; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Other survivors include the many former patients and friends who enriched his life, helped him establish his goals, and finally helped him achieve them. His life was dedicated to Jesus Christ and serving his fellow man. He will be sadly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian, in 1992.

Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 15, from 1 to 9 p.m., at the Schmidt Funeral Home, Jackson, and on Friday, Feb. 16, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Memorials may be made to Donated Health Care Services, Jackson.

Thomas K. Hawkinson
RANDOLPH - Thomas K. Hawkinson, 51, of Randolph, died on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Menomonie. The Rev. Lyle Schulte will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery, Menomonie.

Mr. Hawkinson was born on Jan. 19, 1950, in Menomonie, the son of Alvin and Gertrude (Schwartz) Hawkinson. He was married on July 25, 1970, to Linda Urban at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls.

Mr. Hawkinson had been a Randolph area resident the past five and one half years. He was employed with CenturyTel Telephone Company, formerly known as People Communications of Randolph. He was formerly employed with Ameritech for 27 years and retired in 1995. He was an avid Badger and Packer football fan and he held season tickets for the Badger games. He also enjoyed woodworking, golfing, bowling and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Linda Hawkinson, Randolph; two sons, Christopher (Jeanette Walker and children) Hawkinson, Holmen, and Luke (Lissi Danielson) Hawkinson, Madison; one sister, Jean (Jim) Drury, Boyceville; two sisters-in-law, Verna (Clem) Bauzan, Eau Claire and Deb (Dave) Ritter, Onalaska; one brother-in-law, Duane Urban, California; nieces, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother, Peter.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, and on Friday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Menomonie.

A memorial fund is being established in Mr. Hawkinson's name.

The Randolph Community Funeral Home is serving the family.

Viola E. Jones
COLUMBUS - Viola E. Jones, 88, a resident of the Columbus Center, died on Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at the center.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m., at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus. The Rev. Robert Wilke will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel cemetery, town of Elba.

Mrs. Jones was born on Sept. 26, 1912, in the town of York, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Gehrke) Benisch. She was married on June 2, 1936, to Earl "Porky" Jones in Columbus.

Mrs. Jones was employed at the Weyenberg Shoe Co., Beaver Dam, for nearly 30 years before retiring in 1974. She was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus.

Survivors include two grandchildren, John Jones, Appleton, and Jean (Randy) Hamann, Fall River; five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jenni and Joe Hamann, and Charlie and Max Jones; one daughter-in-law, Lilly Jones, Beaver Dam; three sisters, Erma Freck and Gladys (Edward) Volek, both of Columbus, and Marjorie (James) Murray, Phoenix; two brothers, Bennie Benisch and Reinhold (Lorraine) Benisch, both of Columbus; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl "Porky" Jones; and one son, Owen Jones.

Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus.

The Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, is serving the family.

Gilbert A. Bonack
MAYVILLE - Gilbert A. Bonack, 81, of 375 Evergreen Drive, Mayville, died on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Kekoskee. The Rev. Dennis Bratz will officiate. Burial will be in Kekoskee cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post No. 69.

Mr. Bonack was born on Feb. 10, 1920, in the town of Theresa, the son of Herbert and Ella (Westphal) Bonack. He was married on Aug. 17, 1946, to Arlene Fink at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Kekoskee.

Mr. Bonack was a 1937 graduate of Mayville High School. He was a retired township of Theresa farmer. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He was a member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Kekoskee, served on various boards at St. Peter's Church, a member of the Mayville American Legion Post No. 69, and a member of Mayville Senior Citizens.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Bonack; three children, David (Joan) Bonack, Theresa, Lois (Allen) Wetzel, Kekoskee, and Donald (Kim) Bonack, Mayville; one brother, Elmer (Evelyn) Bonack, Greendale; father-in-law, Richard E. Fink Sr., Mayville; sister-in-law, Geraldine (Earl) Weiss, Iron Ridge; brother-in-law, Dick (Dorothy) Fink, Mayville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.

Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, and on Friday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Kekoskee.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church redecorating fund.

Hollis J. Middleton
Hollis J. Middleton, 82, of 146 Webster St., Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at Hillside Manor Nursing Home.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick's cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Middleton was born on Sept. 30, 1918, in Cedar City, Utah, the son of James William Middleton and Beulah (Thelma) Wilson. He was married on Sept. 5, 1980, to Evelyn D. Podolak in Las Vegas.

Mr. Middleton was an electrician at Capital City Local Union No. 159 and a member of the IBEW. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force Division, as a sergeant.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn D. Middleton, Beaver Dam; seven children, James (special friend Linda Van Driel) Middleton, Milwaukee, Mary Beth (James) Bos, Sarasota, Fla., Jayne (Alan) Coles, Oshkosh, Daniel (Ann) Middleton, Milwaukee, Thomas Middleton, Beaver Dam, step-son, Wayne (Jan) Podolak, Fond du Lac, and step-daughter, Patricia (Tom) Recely, West Allis; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence, on May 20, 1971.

Friends may call on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Benjamin I. Cannon
MAYVILLE - Benjamin Israel Cannon, 82, 426 Furnace St., Mayville, died on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m., at United Methodist Church, Mayville. The Rev. Christal Bindrich will officiate. Cremation will take place. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 69 of Mayville.

Mr. Cannon was born on July 2, 1918, in Waupaca, the son of Benjamin Edward and Lucy Faye (Brigham) Cannon. He was married on Feb. 21, 1953, to Adeline Dutzle in Owen.

Mr. Cannon attended school in Greenwood township. He served in the U.S. Army from October 1941 to September 1945. He was in the 22nd field artillery serving in the European theatre during World War II. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. After the service he lived in Melrose Park, Ill., and then moved to Mayville. He was employed at Mayville Metal, retiring in 1983. He also worked as a custodian for the United Methodist Church, Mayville, for several years. Benjamin enjoyed woodworking, camping, bowling and was quite a handyman. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Mayville, and the Bonau-Whereatt American Legion Post No. 69 of Mayville.

Survivors include his wife, Adeline Cannon, Mayville; three sons, Grover (special friend Dale Zirbel) Cannon, LeRoy; Kevin (Bernice) Cannon, and Dale Cannon, both of Mayville; one daughter, Janis (Duane) Sabel, Mayville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, the Rev. James (June) Cannon, Sedrowooley, Wash.; two sisters, Pearl Harker, Sebring, Ohio, and Emma Davis, Roseville, Mich.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Glenn; and three sisters, JoHannah Czochke, Irene Krueger and Alta Cannon.

Friends may call on Saturday, Feb. 17, from noon until the time of service at the United Methodist Church, Mayville.

The Cottrill Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.

Thomas Durant
WAUPUN - Thomas Durant, 72, of Waupun, died on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

There are no services planned.

The Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, served the family.

Genevieve G. Schultz
JUNEAU - Genevieve G. Schultz, 79, of Juneau, died on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. The Rev. Douglas Westenberg will officiate. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception cemetery, Juneau.

Mrs. Schultz was born on Nov. 1, 1921, in Juneau, the daughter of Hubert and Rose Schwantes. She was married on April 1, 1944, to Robert F. Schultz.

Mrs. Schultz was a lifelong resident of Juneau. She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau, and Juneau's Legion Auxiliary. She served as matron at the Dodge County jail during her husband's tenure as sheriff. Her foremost and greatest accomplishment was caring for her husband and six children. She will be deeply missed by many of her friends and relatives. Her love of life and humor touched all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed family gathering and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include six children, Tom Schultz, Tucson, Ariz., Charles Schultz, Juneau, Kay (Mike) Peters, Beaver Dam, Susan (Harvey) Marten, Pueblo, Colo., Linda (Larry) Hafenstein, Juneau, and Ann (Blaine) Krentz, Madison; step-mother, Josephene Schwantes; two half-brothers; two sisters-in-law; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, on Nov. 12, 1997; one brother, Curtis; two half-sisters; and her in-laws.

Friends may call on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 11 a.m. until the time of service, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Clearview Nursing Home's project Merry Christmas or Employees Appreciation Fund.

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau, is serving the family.
