Donna G. Cose
JUNEAU - Donna G. Cose, 68, of 618 E. Oak St., Juneau, died on Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at her home.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 6 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville. The Rev. Charles Wester will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Graceland cemetery, at a later date.

Mrs. Cose was born on March 16, 1932, in Kekoskee, the daughter of Edward and Adela (Zehren) Gust. She was married on July 28, 1951, to Richard K. Cose at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mayville.

Mrs. Cose was a 1950 graduate of Mayville High School. She was employed by Clearview Nursing Home from 1966 to 1996. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Cose, Juneau; three children, Terry Cose, Milwaukee, Shelley (Dennis) Mallon, and Jo Dee (Jeff) Haase, both of Beaver Dam; three sisters, Gladys LaVarda, Lomira, Florence Froemming, Mayville, and Evelyn (Harvey) Sterr, Fond du Lac; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Zwieg, Mayville, and Kathleen (Dennis) Brandt, Corona, Calf.; one brother-in-law, Roger (Veronica) Cose, San Diego, Calif; mother-in-law, Lorraine "Sue" Ricci, Corona, Calif; seven grandchildren, Erin (Lenny) Hoehne, Patrick Mallon, Timothy Cose, Emily Cose, Andrea Haase, Matthew Haase, and Katie Haase; one great-grandchild, Madalynn Hoehne; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Edward.

Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville.

Memorials may be made to Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.

Violet A. Mertes
Violet A. Mertes, 91, of Beaver Dam, died on Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at Beaver Dam Care Center.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Mertes was born on March 23, 1909, in Port Washington, the daughter of Michael and Sidona (Leider) May. She was married in 1933, to N. Martin Mertes.

Mrs. Mertes graduated from Wayland Academy. She was a portrait photographer in her father's studio, prior to her marriage. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, Daughters of Isabella, Catholic Women's Society, past president and member of M.P.T.I Homemakers Extension and a member of the Beaver Dam Senior Citizens Club.

Survivors include two sons, Don (Shirley) Mertes, Rothschild, and Dick (Julie) Mertes, Greenfield; two daughters, May Rose (Wayne) Werner, Mayville, and Lou Ann (Jay) Spaanem, Madison; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, N. Martin Mertes, in 1973, and one sister, Elvira May, in 1921.

Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Angeline Grahn
WAUPUN - Angeline Grahn, 82, of Waupun, died on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waupun. The Rev. Michael Moran will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Waupun.

Mrs. Grahn was born on May 1, 1918, in Edgar, the daughter of Anthony and Balbena (Wirkus) Hornung. She was married on April 15, 1944, to Wilbert Grahn in Elmhurst, Ill.

Mrs. Grahn taught at Pin Hill and Lake Mills schools before her marriage. She and her husband farmed and raised seven children. In 1984, they retired from farming and moved to Waupun. In 1990, she served as the cook at the rectory of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waupun, of which she was a member. She was active in the Altar Society, Human Concerns Committee and served as a Eucharistic minister. She also did volunteer work at the Christian Home, Waupun.

Survivors include two sons, Loren (Kris) Grahn, Oshkosh, and Mark (Marlene) Grahn, Randolph; five daughters, Mary (Phillip) Nisiewicz, Greendale, Rae Jean (John) Bett, Waupun, Marlene (Roy) Bolton, La Grange, Texas, and Gail and Janet Grahn, both of West Allis; 19 grandchildren; two brothers; three sisters; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert, in 1988, and two sisters.

Friends may call on Friday, Feb. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, with a service wake to be held at 7:30 p.m.

Dorothea E. Jacquot
JUNEAU - Dorothea E. Jacquot, of Juneau, died peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.

A memorial service will be held this summer in June.

Mrs. Jacquot was born on Oct. 9, 1913, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Irving and Marion (Nadolsky) Knorr.

Survivors include one half-brother, Harry Petrofski, Oak Creek; one half-sister, Josephine Gehrke, Juneau; one son, Jerome H. Zahn, Jackson; three daughters, Rosemary Vander Galien-Nickel, Beaver Dam, Patricia A. Jacquot-Weber, Appleton, and Sandra K. Jacquot-Bischoff, College Place, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; Beatrice E. Wendt, Mary Ann Noe, Cindy Young, David Vander Galien, Donald Vander Galien, Ronald Lichty, Jeffery Lichty, Randy Lichty, Kathy White, Judy Conter, Evelyn Zahn, Michael J. Zahn, and Stacy Viegas; 18 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Harold Zahn and Palmer Jacquot; one daughter, Margaret Huph; and one half-brother, Marcel Petrofski.

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau, is serving the family.

Mae L. Schwartz
HORICON - Mae L. Schwartz, 70, of 610 Mill St., Horicon, died on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m., at Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon. The Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery, Horicon.

Mrs. Schwartz was born on Aug. 8, 1930, in Plymouth, the daughter of Emil and Olga Wegner. She was married on Sept. 25, 1954, to George Schwartz in Horicon.

Mrs. Schwartz was a resident of Horicon most of her life, graduating from Horicon High School in 1948. She was a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon, and a member and past president of the Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 157.

Survivors include her husband, George Schwartz, Horicon; three children, John (Cindy) Schwartz, and Michael (Wendy) Schwartz, both of Horicon, and Jeffrey (Jena) Schwartz, Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Robert, in 1970.

Friends may call on Saturday, Feb. 24, from 9 a.m. until the time of service, at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon.

Memorials may be made to St. Stephen new church building fund.

Anita H. Breslow
JUNEAU - Anita H. Breslow, 84, of 199 Home Road, Juneau, formerly of 616 N. Main St., Mayville, died on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m., at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Geoffrey Hoy will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Mayville.

Mrs. Breslow was born on March 7, 1916, in the township of Theresa, the daughter of Louis and Ida (Gutenschwager) Pribnow. She was married on Oct. 16, 1937, to Gerald Breslow in the township of Lomira.

Mrs. Breslow farmed with her husband in the township of Lomira. She was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville, and a member of Mayville and Horicon Senior Center. She loved playing cards and enjoyed her family.

Survivors include five children, Geraldine (Ralph) Luebke, Deloris (Merlin) Zastrow, Lloyd (Jermaine) Breslow, all of Mayville, Arlene (Ronald) Brinkmann, Hartford, and Merlin (RoxAnn) Breslow, Mayville; two sisters-in-law, Helen Schellpfeffer, rural Horicon, and Margaret Wendler, Fond du Lac; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald, in 1977; twin sister, Lydia, in infancy; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call on Sunday, Feb. 25, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

William E. Pullam
JUNEAU - William E. Pullam, 71, of 172A E. Oak St., Juneau, died on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

A prayer service will be held on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. Inurnment of the cremains will take place at a later date.

Mr. Pullam was born on July 13, 1929, the son of Oscar and Myrtle Pullam. He was married to Marlene Friese.

Mr. Pullam was a graduate of Mayville High School. He was a former machinist at Mayville and Watertown Metal.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Pullam, Fond du Lac; eight children, Michael (Linda) Pullam, Beaver Dam, Cindy Sabel, Fond du Lac, Linda Brawner, Joshua, Texas, Dennis Pullam, Beaver Dam, Chris (Terry) Sabel, Fond du Lac, Steve Sabel, Beaver Dam, Dan Pullam, Beaver Dam, and James Pullam, Juneau; one brother, Roy Pullam, Watertown; one brother-in-law, Jerome "Shorty" Friese, Beaver Dam; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Cheryl Jean.

Friends may call on Sunday, Feb. 25, from 4 p.m. until the time of service, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Martina K. Guenther
FALL RIVER/COLUMBUS - Martina K. Guenther, 81, formerly of Fall River, died on Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at The Columbus Center, following a battle with cancer.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Doylestown. The Rev. Donald J. Wiecki will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Guenther was born on June 21, 1919, in Crofton, Neb., the daughter of Anton and Mary (Reisch) Hames.

Survivors include three sons, Marvin (Pat) Guenther, Michigan City, Ind., Charles Guenther, and Brian (Doris) Guenther, both of Fall River; three daughters, Angela (Bob) Baluff, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Gloria (Michael) Lubenau, Fall River, and Linda (Brent) Harry, White Bear Lake, Minn.; one sister, Margaret (Paul) Donnor, Nebraska; 15 grandchildren ; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, on July 12, 1997; one son, Gordon; and two brothers Victor and Walter Hames.

Friends may call on Sunday, Feb. 25, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., at the Vangen Funeral Home, Rio.

Evelyn Hayes
CHICAGO - Evelyn Hayes, 80, of Chicago, died on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at the Christian Home, Waupun.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Hayes, Fox Lake, and William Hayes, Chicago.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun.

Charlotte W. Berger
JUNEAU - Charlotte W. Berger, 91, of 420 W. North St., Juneau, died on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 4 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. The Rev. Douglas Westenberg will officiate. Burial will be on Saturday, March 3, in Bay City, Mich.

Mrs. Berger was born on July 5, 1909, in Bay City, Mich., the daughter of Carl and Clara (Rehmus) Schroeder. She was married on Dec. 27, 1928, to Elmer Berger in St. John's Church, Amelith, Mich.

Mrs. Berger lived in Bay City, Mich., most of her life, moving to Juneau in the early 1990s. She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau, Trinity Lutheran Church, Bay City, Mich., the Ladies Aid of both congregations, and a member of the Junior Women's Club, Bay City, Mich.

Survivors include four children, Gerald (Marie) Berger, Milwaukee, Helen (Ferd) Schultz, Juneau, Judith (Bruce) Bender, Fond du Lac, and Frederick (Ilene) Berger, Sugar Bush; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; one sister, Clara Kitzinger, Holt, Mich.; one brother, Morton (Bettie) Schroeder, Appleton; one brother-in-law, Wilson (Sue) Berger, Bay City, Mich.; one sister-in-law, Verna Wieck, Saginaw, Mich.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Berger, in 1983; one son, James Berger, in 1997; and one grandson, Dennis Berger.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 2 p.m. until the time of service, at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau.

Hazel L. Zandler
COLUMBUS - Hazel Louise Zandler, died on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m., at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus. The Revs. Robert Wilke and G.F. Cares will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.

Mrs. Zandler was born on Dec. 26, 1919, in Sun Prairie, the daughter of Albert and Marie (Berge) Rattmann. She was married on June 17, 1944, to Harold E. Zandler at Stinson Field, San Antonio, Texas.

Mrs. Zandler was a volunteer at Bethesda Lutheran Home. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Columbus, and its Ladies Society.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Zandler, Columbus; two sons, John (Bernadine) Zandler, Columbus, and Stephen (Lynn) Zandler, Beloit; one daughter, Betty (David) Spear, Green Bay; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Eleanor (Ray) Anderson, Edgerton; one brother, Robert (Geraldine) Rattmann, Cambridge; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Zandler; one sister, Helen (Robert) Tipple; and two brothers, Harold and Raymond Rattmann.

Friends may call on Monday, Feb. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus, and on Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus.
