Donald F. Thayer Sr.
DAUPHIN, Pa. - Donald F. Thayer Sr., 77, of Dauphin, Pa., died on Monday, March 5, 2001, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Monday, March 12, at the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, Harrisburg, Pa. The Rev. James C. Bonsell will officiate. Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National cemetery, Annville, Pa.

Mr. Thayer was born on Dec. 30, 1923, in Altoona, Pa., the son of William H. and Thyra (Grubb) Thayer Sr.

Mr. Thayer was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Paxton United Methodist Church, a life member of American Legion Post No. 1001, and a life member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine M. Thayer, Dauphin, Pa.; one son, Donald F. Thayer Jr., Waupun; one daughter, Nancy T. Tallman, Dauphin, Pa.; three grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 11, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, Harrisburg, Pa.

Memorials may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, 3908 Corey Road, Harrisburg, PA, 17101, or to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Pennsylvania, 245 W. Governor Road, Hershey, PA, 17033.

Ralph C. White
Ralph C. White, 78, of City View Assisted Living, Madison, formerly of W7708 Highway S, Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at University Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Friday, March 9, at 11 a.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Eileen Kuehnl will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, township of Trenton.

Mr. White was born on Oct. 11, 1922, in Iowa, the son of Frank and Minnie (Barndts) White. He was married on Dec. 20, 1942, to Margaret Schoenwetter in the village of Lowell.

Mr. White worked part-time as a farmer and full-time at John Deere. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Beaver Dam, where he sang in the church choir for many years.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy White, Madison; two sons, Jack (Mary) White, Fox Lake, and David (Linda) White, Marshall; one brother, Richard (Mary) White, Beaver Dam; five grandchildren, Kerry (Craig) Hornick, Reeseville, Mike (Barb) White, Sun Prairie, Jeremy (Karalee) White, Cottage Grove, Corey (Dawn) White, Rockdale, and Doug (Ann) McKay, North Carolina; four great-grandchildren, Jake and Hannah Hornick, and Alex and Kali White; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; three brothers, and three sisters.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 8, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Friday, March 9, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Beaver Dam, or the charity of one's choice.

Maxine H. Oestreich
Maxine H. Oestreich, 76, of Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at John Lincoln Hospital, Phoenix.

A private family service was held. The Rev. David Bitler officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery, Horicon.

Mrs. Oestreich was born on July 12, 1924, in Horicon, the daughter of Arthur and Esther (Otto) Schessow.

Mrs. Oestreich was past president of Juneau Memorial Post No. 10423 VFW Auxiliary and was a longtime member of the First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include one son, Lester (Laura Whited) Oestreich Jr., Beaver Dam; one daughter, Sharon (Larry) Nissen, Phoenix; two granddaughters, Meghan (fiance Ryan Duerst) Nissen, Phoenix, and Katie Oestreich, Beaver Dam; brothers, sisters, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester Oestreich Sr., in 1997; two sons, and one daughter.

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau, served the family.

Louis E. Sharpee
RIO - Louis E. Sharpee, 74, of Rio, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Meriter-Park Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 10, at 11 a.m., at Spring Prairie Lutheran Church, Keyeser. The Rev. O. Rolf Olson will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Prairie Church cemetery.

Mr. Sharpee was born on Aug. 5, 1926, in the town of Hampden, the son of Endre and Clara (Mickelson) Sharpee. He was married on March 19, 1955, to Mary Helen Caldwell.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Sharpee, Rio; two sons, Ronald (Debra) Sharpee, DeForest, and Michael (Vicki) Sharpee, Rio; two daughters, Susan (Jerry) Guenther, Madison, and Kathryn (Dennis Kindschy) Sharpee, Sun Prairie; one brother, William Sharpee, West Bend; two sisters, Gladys Vine, Madison, and Clarice (Philip) Muntz, Nova Scotia, Canada; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Palmer and Olin, and two sisters, both named Amelia.

Friends may call on Friday, March 9, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Spring Prairie Lutheran Church, Keyeser.

Memorials may be made to the Spring Prairie Lutheran Church general fund.

Royce C. Polfuss
GREEN BAY - Royce C. Polfuss, 71, of Sobieski, died on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000.

Mr. Polfuss was born on March 19, 1929, in Juneau, the son of George and Hattie (Verg) Polfuss. He was married on Feb. 14, 1953 to Hilde Luedtke at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau.

Mr. Polfuss was a 1947 graduate of Juneau High School. He worked for the Dodge County Highway Department until he joined the U.S. Army in 1951, serving in Korea. He left active duty in 1952, remaining in the Army Reserve until 1959. He was called to active duty again in 1961, being honorably discharged in 1962. He retired from Ameritech in 1986.

Survivors include his wife, Hilde Polfuss, Sobieski; two sons, Michael Polfuss, Sobieski, and Daniel (Laura) Polfuss, Mount Prospect, Ill,; two daughters, Heidi (Stephen) Schuette, Suamico, and Lori (Kevin) McPoland, East Kingston, N.H.; three sisters, Estelle Edelman, Lenexa, Kan., Ruth Kuchenreuther, Brown Deer, and Mary Zuelsdorf, Horicon; two brothers, Ernie Haertel, Beaver Dam, and Donald Polfuss, Horicon; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Firehammer.

Lance A. Penkoske
WEST BEND - Lance A. Penkoske, 22, of West Bend, was born into eternal life on Wednesday, March 7, 2001, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Milwaukee.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, March 11, at 7 p.m., at the Phillip Funeral Home, 1420 W. Paradise Drive, West Bend. Burial will be on Monday, March 12, at 10 a.m., in Washington County Memorial Park.

Mr. Penkoske was born on June 19, 1978, in Fond du Lac, the son of Donald and Jean (Christian) Penkoske.

Mr. Penkoske was a 1998 graduate of West Bend East High School. He was employed at Simplicity Manufacturing of Port Washington. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, West Bend. He loved motorcycle riding and was an avid snowmobiler.

Survivors include his parents, Donald and Jean Penkoske, West Bend; one sister, Jennifer Penkoske, West Bend; maternal grandparents, Walter and Dorothy Christian, Clintonville; paternal grandfather, George Penkoske, Mayville; snowmobile and motorcycle riding buddy, Dwane Kuehl, Filmore; faithful companion, Tia; aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ruth Penkoske.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 11, from 4 p.m. until the time of service, at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend.

Norma H. Johnson
Norma H. Johnson, 89, formerly of Horicon, died on Friday, March 9, 2001, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

The funeral will be held on Monday, March 12, at 11 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Horicon. The Rev. Samuel A. Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery, Horicon.

Mrs. Johnson was born on Jan. 26, 1912, in Mayville, the daughter of Fredrick and Martha (Luebke) Pieper. She was married on Sept. 25, 1929, to Clarence Johnson in Flint, Mich.

Mrs. Johnson lived in Horicon since 1933. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Survivors include seven children, Delores (Robert) Sharkey, Marlene (Gerald) Marsh and Judith (Errol) Thompson, all of Horicon, Robert (Jan) Johnson, Chesterton, Ind., Richard (Donna) Johnson, Barrington, Ill., Charles (Sarah) Johnson, Beaver Dam, and Shirley Radke, Marina del Ray, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond Pieper, Beaver Dam, Harvey Pieper, Horicon, and Gilbert (Beverly) Pieper, Madison; two sisters, Verona Krueger, and Evelyn (Reinhardt) Kiesow, both of Horicon; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, in 1985; one great-grandson, Vincent Gerard Portelli, in 2000; two brothers, Arthur and Erwin, and one sister, Erna Shepard.

Friends may call on Monday, March 12, from 9 a.m. until the time of service, at Zion Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church building fund.

Laura J. Huntington
PLYMOUTH - Laura J. Huntington, 79, of W4421 Sumac Road, Plymouth, on Friday, March 9, 2001, at her home, after a short illness of cancer.

The funeral will be held on Monday, March 12, at 5 p.m., at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3910 Erie Ave., Sheboygan. The Revs. Loren Nelson and Terry Nennich Jr. will officiate. Cremation will follow. Inurnment will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Huntington was born on Nov. 21, 1921, in Oconto County, the daughter of Otto W. and Emily (Altergott) Krause. She was married on May 29, 1949, to Leland R. Huntington in Sheboygan.

Mrs. Huntington attended Weeden Station grade school and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1939. She graduated from the Sheboygan Falls Normal School in 1941. She taught for various school systems for eight years. After marriage the couple resided in Beaver Dam for 33 years, before moving to Plymouth in 1982. She taught at the Wisconsin Academy Church School, Columbus, for 15-1/2 years. She was a member of Sheboygan Seventh Day Adventist Church, was the church clerk for several years and served as chairman of the Church School Board. She was a member of the Mullett Maidens Homemakers Club. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, homemaking and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Leland Huntington, town of Lima; one daughter, Loralee (Terrance) Nennich, Bagley, Minn.; three grandchildren, the Rev. Terrance (Carrie) Nennich Jr., Hinckley, Minn., Tamilee Nennich, St. Paul, Minn., and Timothy Nennich, Bagley, Minn.; one sister, Erma Jean Krause, town of Lima; one sister-in-law, Gerri Lafever, Ringgold, Ga.; one step-nephew, James (Kathy) Wilson, East Bethel, Minn; relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Monday, March 12, from 3 p.m. until the time of service, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Sheboygan.
Memorials may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Sheboygan. The Suchon Funeral Home, Plymouth, is serving the family.

Margaret R. Schultheiss
NEWTON, N.J. - Margaret R. Schultheiss, 83, died on Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley, Littleton, Mass.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 17, at 2 p.m., at the Olivet Congregational U.C.C., Columbus. The Rev. Denise J. Cole will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Madison. A memorial service will be held at the Stillwater Presbyterian Church, Stillwater, N.J., at a later date.

Mrs. Schultheiss was born on Aug. 17, 1917, in Columbus, the daughter of George J. and Ina Mae (Moore) Miller. She was married to Earl A. Schultheiss.

Mrs. Schultheiss and her husband lived in Brownsville, Texas, Palo Alto, Calif., Huntington, Station, N.Y. and Stillwater during their 40 years of marriage. While living in Stillwater, she was active in the Stillwater Presbyterian Church and various volunteer organizations, including the Sussex County Nutrition Project and a local singing group that entertained at surrounding nursing homes in Sussex County.

Survivors include two sons, John (Donna) Schultheiss, Victoria, Texas, and David (Susan) Schultheiss, Brentwood, Tenn.; two daughters, Marcia (Doug) Timbie, Califon, N.J., and Debra (William) Alesbury, Acton, Mass.; nine grandchildren; one sister, Joyce M. Jones, Mequon; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, in 1981; one sister, Aurora Meland, and one brother, Russell Miller.

Friends may call on Saturday, March 17, from 1 p.m. until the time of service, at the Olivet Congregational U.C.C., Columbus.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Massachusetts Chapter, 36 Canyon Ave., Cambridge, MA, 02140, or the Stillwater Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 107, Stillwater, N.J., 07875.

Alice Stiemsma
CAMBRIA - Alice Stiemsma, 78, formerly of Cambria, died peacefully on Saturday, March 10, 2001, at the Continental Manor, Randolph.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 14, at 11 a.m., at the Friesland Reformed Church, Friesland. The Rev. Ronald Vender Werff will officiate. Burial will be in Alto cemetery.

Mrs. Stiemsma was born on Feb. 4, 1923, in the town of Westford, the daughter of Newt and Winnie (Jansma) Aalsma. She was married on June 20, 1945, to Peter Brandsma. She was married on May 13, 1972, to Ervin Stiemsma.

Mrs. Stiemsma attended a local country school and helped with the chores on the family farm until her first marriage. After, she and Peter farmed until his unexpected death in 1964. She and her children then moved to the city of Waupun where she owned and operated a restaurant. She left the restaurant business when she married Ervin. She farmed along with him until 1976, when they retired and moved to the village of Cambria. She was a member of Friesland Reformed Church and a past member of the church's Dorcas Circle. She also served her community on the Cambria Park Board for several years as chairperson and will always be remembered for her hard work and dedication to Tarrant Park in Cambria, as its grounds keeper for many years. Alice will be sadly missed and mourned by all.

Survivors include nine children, Pete (Sharon) Brandsma, Green Lake, Wayne (Cece) Brandsma, Byron, Ill., Fred (Jackie) Stiemsma, Beaver Dam, Carl (Rita) Stiemsma, Cambria, Sherrill (Stan) Cupery, Cottage Grove, Terry (Don) Parker, Madison, Diane "Dede" (Terry) Dykstra, Friesland, Denise (Tim) Ashley, Cambria, Tina (Larry) Bahr, Randolph; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marion (August) Boorsma, Randolph; two brothers, Joe Aalsma and Herman (Alice) Aalsma, both of Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Peter, in 1964; her second husband, Ervin, on March 31, 1996; two brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call on Wednesday, March 14, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, at the Friesland Reformed Church.

Erma H. Zunker
WYOCENA - Erma H. Zunker, 83, formerly of Columbus, died on Friday, March 9, 2001, at Columbia County Health Care Center, Wyocena.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 13, at 3 p.m., at the Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus. The Rev. Robert Wilke will officiate. Burial will be in Otsego cemetery.

Mrs. Zunker was born on Nov. 11, 1917, in Otsego township the daughter of Frank and Lillian (Schultz) Keip. She was married on Dec. 5, 1939, to Albert Zunker.

Mrs. Zunker was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus.

Survivors include one daughter, Marlene (Jim) Blank, Minocqua; three sons, Harvey Zunker, Denver, Donald (Donna) Zunker, Little Suamico, and David (Mary Ann) Zunker, Oshkosh; four grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, on Dec. 2, 2000; one brother, Ernest Keip, and one sister, Eileen Mather.
Friends may call on Saturday, Tuesday, March 17, from 1 p.m. until the time of service, at the Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus.
