Joseph Hartman
Oct. 21, 1962 - March 10, 2001

A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, March 15, at 10 a.m., at Annunciation Catholic Church, Fox Lake. The Rev. Michael Wild will officiate.

Joseph Hartman was born the fifth of nine children, to David and Carol Hartman, Beaver Dam. After graduating from Wayland Academy in 1981, he moved to Atlanta, Ga., where he studied art at the Institute of Atlanta.

As well as being a renowned artist and interior decorator, Joe served as an art director at the London Art Gallery. The King Plow Art Center displayed Joe's work on an on going basis, and he was one of the main featured artists at Pandora's Box Gallery in Marietta, Ga.

Working as an interior decorator at Forsth Furniture, he designed furniture made from birchwood. Many southern homes are adorned with Joe's skillfully crafted furniture and personalized murals.

Having returned to Wisconsin in 2000, his interest in antiques led him to open the Dragon Fly Antique Shop, Fox Lake. While still in Atlanta, he had booths at Lake Woods Antique Festivals.

Joe was a world traveler who went to Cancun, Mexico, the Caribbean Islands and Europe numerous times. He loved the Ocean.

Joe will be sadly missed and mourned by his parents, David and Carol Hartman, Beaver Dam; three brothers, Luke, Matt and Steve; five sisters, Linda, Amy, Becky, Eva and Kate; special friend, Joe Appleby; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Norma Hasz
FOX LAKE - Norma Hasz, 77, of Fox Lake, died on Friday, March 9, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 13, at 7 p.m., at Randolph Ev. Free Church, Randolph. The Rev. Lee Smith will officiate. Burial will be on Wednesday, March 14, at 1 p.m., in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery, Mount Prospect, Ill.

Mrs. Hasz was born on March 2, 1924, in Mount Prospect, Ill., the daughter of Albert and Emma (Schaeffer) Busse. She was married on Feb. 7, 1948, to Howard Hasz in Mount Prospect, Ill.

Mrs. Hasz and her husband moved to Fox Lake, where they made their home since 1987. She was an active member of the Randolph Ev. Free Church and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 521, Fox Lake. Norma will be remembered for her lively sense of humor, her loving ways of devotion to her family and friends and her love of going out to eat. She will be sadly missed and mourned by all.

Survivors include three children, Joel (Bobbie Jo) Hasz, Delafield, Jeffrey (Pat) Hasz, Poulsbo, Wash., Michele Hasz, Lansing, Ill.; four grandchildren, Sara, Marshall, Taylor and Ethan; one brother-in-law, Ralph Willie; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard, on May 15, 1999; one sister, Marion Wille, and one brother, Wilbert Busse.

Friends may call on Tuesday, March 13, from 5 p.m. until the time of service, at Randolph Ev. Free Church.

Clarence E. Appenfeldt
REESEVILLE - Clarence E. Appenfeldt, 74, of S. Main St., Reeseville, died on Saturday, March 10, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 14, at 11 a.m., at United Methodist Church of Lowell. The Rev. Paul Foulke will officiate. Burial will be in Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Watertown VFW Post No. 3709.

Mr. Appenfeldt was born on June 30, 1926, in Dane County, the son of Edwin and Lily (Yanke) Appenfeldt. He was married in July 1946, to Doris Kurtz.

Mr. Appenfeldt served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, in the Pacific Theater and was wounded in battle. He also served in the National Guard for two years following his return. He worked in Reeseville as a blacksmith for many years, later continuing to pursue his business in Reeseville for many more years as a repair shop and small engine repair. He served as Justice of the Peace in Reeseville for several years, was a past member of the Reeseville Fire Department, a past member of the Reeseville VFW and a current member of the Watertown VFW Post No. 3709. He was a longtime resident of Reeseville and was content to be a part of that nice village.

Survivors include five children, Terence (Kay) Appenfeldt, Beaver Dam, Lynn Appenfeldt, Oshkosh, Debra (Raymond) Schrab, Hartford, Gerald (fiancee Pam Pearsall) Appenfeldt, Florida, and Michael (Virginia) Appenfeldt, Reeseville; eight grandchildren, Mishell (Brian) Draeger, Anna Arndt, Chris, Joe and Jake Appenfeldt, Chloe and Gus Schrab, and Nick Appenfeldt; three great-grandchildren, Samantha, Erika and Mitchell Drager; one brother, Carl (Betty) Appenfeldt, Florida; two sisters, Phyllis Bartz and Beverly Appenfeldt, both of Watertown; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Appenfeldt, on Aug. 27, 1978; one daughter, Sherri Arndt, on Feb. 8, 1981; one grandson, John Arndt, in 1973, and one sister, Marion Stuelke.

Friends may call on Tuesday, March 13, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Reeseville, and on Wednesday, March 14, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the United Methodist Church of Lowell.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Lowell or the Cancer Society.

Florence M. Guenther
Florence M. Guenther, 75, of 1254 Wayland St., Beaver Dam, died on Monday, March 12, 2001, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 15, at 1 p.m., at First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. David Bitler will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Guenther was born on Jan. 2, 1926, in Fond du Lac County, the daughter of Albert and Alvina (Burmeister) Priepke. She was married on Oct. 9, 1943, to Harley Guenther in Beaver Dam.

Survivors include her husband Harley Guenther, Beaver Dam; one son, Roger (Judy) Guenther, Beaver Dam; four daughters, Lois (Norbert) Matuszeski, Beaver Dam, Linda Wolc, Fond du Lac, Debbie (Mike) Guenther Gold, Austin, Texas, and Suzanne Guenther, Oshkosh; one sister, Frances Meitzel, Columbus; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Shirley and Beverly.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 15, from noon until the time of service, in the memorial room of First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Rosalie M. Gruber
Rosalie Marie Gruber, 84, of Hillside Manor, formerly of 144 Judson Drive, Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Hillside Manor.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 14, at 2:30 p.m., at Valhalla cemetery Chapel, Milwaukee. Burial will be in Valhalla cemetery, Milwaukee.

Mrs. Gruber was born on July 12, 1916, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Peter and Rose (Kohanek) Gassel.

Mrs. Gruber was employed at Monarch Range Co., Beaver Dam, for 36 years.

Survivors include one son, Jerome (Jacklyn Lee) Gruber, Oklahoma City, Okla.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call on Wednesday, March 14, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service, at Valhalla cemetery Chapel, Milwaukee.

Robert C. Kuehl
IRON RIDGE - Robert C. Kuehl, 64, of 126 N. Main St., Iron Ridge, died on Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 15, at 7 p.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon. The Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Horicon.

Mr. Kuehl was born on Jan. 12, 1937, the son of Clarence and Gertrude (Rackow) Kuehl. He was married on Dec. 15, 1956, to Shirley Ann Sturm in Horicon.

Mr. Kuehl owned and operated Kuehl Builders for 40 years. He was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958, was the former assistant fire chief of Iron Ridge for many years, was a past assessor, trustee and building inspector of Iron Ridge and a past member of the Iron Ridge Recreation Club.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Kuehl, Iron Ridge; four children, Michael (Louise) Kuehl, and Douglas (Catherine) Kuehl, both of Iron Ridge, and Laura Kuehl, and Amy (Timothy) Mamerow, both of Oconomowoc; his mother, Gertrude Kuehl, Hartford; mother-in-law, Vida Strum, Horicon; three sisters, Delores (Tom) Abbott, Darlene (Mike) Wagner, and Doris (Don) Lechner, all of Hartford; two brothers, Roger (Pat) Kuehl and Russell (Beth) Kuehl, both of Hartford; two brothers-in-law, Clarence (Barbara) Kanas, Mayville, and Dick (Virginia) Butler, Horicon; one sister-in-law, Judy Kuehl, Iron Ridge; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Angela, Kevin, Marie, Sophi, Caleb and Emily; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 15, from 5 p.m. until the time of service, at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Lois M. Sennhenn
COLUMBUS - Lois M. Sennhenn, 80, of Columbus, died on Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at the Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 17, at 1 p.m., at the Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus. The Rev. G.F. Cares will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.

Mrs. Sennhenn was born on Dec. 22, 1920, in Columbus, the daughter of Otto and Louise (Ibisch) Hasenfuss. She was married in 1943 to Leonard Sennhenn.

Mrs. Sennhenn was a lifelong Columbus resident, living on the same farm since 1943. She was a member of the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus, as well as the Ladies Aid Society. She was a dedicated chairperson for many years with the Funeral Lunch Committee. She dearly loved her grandchildren and was a very thoughtful person.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (William) Tensfeldt, Madison, and Janet Sennhenn, Cortez, Colo.; three sons, Robert (Joan) Sennhenn, Steven (Julie) Sennhenn, and William (Patricia) Sennhenn, all of Columbus; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Stephanie, Nathan, Courtney, Spencer, Bradley, Brittney and Neal Sennhenn; one sister, Josephine (Orville) Dahl, Beaver Dam; one brother, Herbert Hase, Oakdale, Calif; one very special sister-in-law, Laura Sennhenn, Columbus; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard, on July 22, 1997, and one sister, Wilma Hasenfuss.

Friends may call on Saturday, March 17, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus.
Memorials may be made to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus, or the Columbus Community Hospital.

Betty Shields
BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Betty Shields, 82, Broomfield, Colo., formerly of the Waupun and Fond du Lac area, died on Sunday, March 11, 2001.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 16, at 11 a.m., at the Forest Mound cemetery. The Rev. Doris E. Hanson will officiate.

Survivors include one daughter, Joanne (Mark) Yelich, Broomfield, Colo.; one son, Edward A. Shields, Arvada, Colo.; three grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, is serving the family.

Helen Marie Olson Schilling
Helen Marie Olson Schilling, 86, of 415 DeClark St., Beaver Dam, died on Friday, March 9, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

A memorial service celebrating Helen's life and spirit will be held on Saturday, March 17, at 3:30 p.m., at Trinity Church-United Methodist, Beaver Dam. The Revs. Gregory Jewison and Gordon Sorensen will officiate. Friends and relatives may greet the family prior to the service beginning at 2 p.m. Following the service a meal will be served in Fellowship Hall.

There will be a private service for the family at Oakwood cemetery to inter the cremains. The Rev. Gregory Jewison will lead the service.

Mrs. Schilling was born on Jan. 23, 1915, in New Prague, Minn., the daughter of Emil and Anna (Remes) Komarek.

Mrs. Schilling attended the New Prague schools and the University of Minnesota. On Oct. 31, 1937, she was married to Harold J. Olson. In 1951, the couple with their two sons, James and William, moved to Beaver Dam. For a number of years Helen worked as a secretary for W.C. Woods Insurance Agency, then as a secretary to principal Robert Gartzke at Washington School, and later as a teacher's aide from which she retired in 1977. The family was active in Trinity Church-United Methodist. Both she and her husband served as volunteer youth directors for a period of time. Helen was a member of the choir, the United Methodist Women, The Mary Circle, and the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1964.

Her husband, Harold, died on May 2, 1976, of a heart attack. On July 16, 1977, she married the Rev. Marvin A. Schilling of Milwaukee. Upon his retirement, the couple moved to Beaver Dam.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Marvin A. Schilling, Beaver Dam; her sons, Attorney James (Judy) Olson, Beaver Dam, and Attorney William (Cathy Spann) Olson, Madison; one daughter-in-law, Nancy McBrair Olson, Beaver Dam; three sisters-in-law, Alida Remes, Denver, Colo., Norma Timm and Hattie Tamm, both of Beaver Dam; her step-sons, Dr. Donald G. (Mary) Schilling, Granville, Ohio, the Rev. David M. (Elaine Combs) Schilling, New York, and Dr. John (Linda) Schilling, M.D., Middleton; her grandchildren, Sarah (Jeff) Olson Moriva, Edgerton, Jennifer Olson, Raleigh, N.C., Anne Olson, Arcata, Calif., Nathan Craig, Chicago, and Vivian Olson, Madison; her step-grandchildren, Drs. Derek (Ana Pairet) Schilling, Palo Alto, Calif., Dr. Thad (Julia) Schilling, Boston, Mass., Dr. Joel (Denise) Schilling, M.D., St. Louis, Mo., Kati (boyfriend Brian) Schilling, Chicago, and Jonathan Schilling, New York; one great-grandson, Grant Schilling, St. Louis, Mo.; nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Milton Remes; her first husband, Harold J. Olson; one grandson, James Nels Olson; one brother-in-law, Clarence Schilling, and a brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Esther Kloehn.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Church-United Methodist, Beaver Dam, or to the charity of one's choice.

Kenneth E. Cundy Sr.
WAUPUN - Kenneth E. Cundy Sr., 78, of 819 Wilcox St., Waupun, died on Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at the Waupun Christian Home.

The funeral will be held on Friday, March 16, at 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville. The Rev. Stanley Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Mayville.

Mr. Cundy was born on Nov. 13, 1922, in Neda, the son of Hiram and Mamie (Carne) Cundy. He was married on May 19, 1945, to Lillian Ehlert in Hustisford.

Mr. Cundy retired from Mayville Metal in 1987. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Cundy, Waupun; four children, Joyce (Robert) Drozd, Horicon, Bruce (Mary) Cundy, Brownsville, Kenneth (Cathy) Cundy Jr., Mayville, and Rodney (Ruth) Cundy, Hartford; one brother, Claude (Doris) Cundy, Olympia, Wash.; one half-brother, Gilbert (Elizabeth) Cundy Sr., Beaver Dam; two half-sisters, Hortense Franz, Beaver Dam, and Dorothy Schwartz, Woodland, Wash; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, and two half-brothers.

Friends may call on Friday, March 16, from 4 p.m. until the time of service, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville.
