Thea Hartmann
MAYVILLE - Thea Hartmann, 88, of 305 S. Clark St., Mayville, died on Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 24, at 11 a.m., at the Cottrill Funeral Home, Mayville. The Rev. Charles Wester will officiate. Burial will be in St. Theresa's Catholic cemetery, Theresa.

Mrs. Hartmann was born on Sept. 9, 1912, in Berlin, Germany. She was married on April 25, 1970 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waukesha.

Mrs. Hartmann enjoyed cooking, and was employed as a housekeeper/cook for the parish priest at St. Joseph's Parish, Waukesha, before her marriage.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Leona Zingsheim, Theresa, and Virginia (Russell) Sorensen, Wauwatosa; one brother-in-law, Arnold Hartmann, Mayville; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, in 1996; one brother-in-law, and one sister-in-law.

Friends may call on Saturday, March 24, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the Cottrill Funeral Home, Mayville.

Uel F. Carnes
RED BAY, Ala., - Uel Fray Carnes, 83, of Red Bay, Ala., died on Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Red Bay Hospital.

The funeral was held on Saturday, March 17, at 1 p.m., at Deaton Funeral Chapel, Red Bay, Ala. The Revs. Tom Scott and David Corum officiated. Burial was in Red Bay city cemetery.

Mr. Carnes was a native of Alabama and was a security guard with Tiffin Motor Homes for 25 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

Survivors include six daughters, Elios (Ray) Crowder, Barbara McDowell, and Brenda Purser, all of Red Bay, Ala., Carolyn (Robert) Thorn, Vina, Ala., Janie (Rick) Bjork, Winthrop Harbor, Ill., and Charlotte (Oneal) Funderburk, Golden, Miss.; one son, John (Jeneen) Carnes, Beaver Dam; four sisters, Maxine Price, Russellville, Ala., Lurlene Burmester, Lafayette, La., Nell Bullen, Red Bay, Ala., and Floyce Swindle, Southaven, Miss.; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, uncles, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Euel F. Carnes; his parents, Gertie N. and Flora C. Carnes, and three sisters, Lora Wilson, Elouise Carnes and Jane Carnes.

Friends called on Friday, March 16, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Daeton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala. Memorials may be made to Hospice South, Russellville, Ala.

Erwin A. Feller
MAYVILLE - Erwin A. Feller, 82, of 305 S. Clark St., Mayville, died on Friday, March 23, 2001, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be held on Monday, March 26, at 1 p.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, township of Theresa. The Rev. Eldor Harmann will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Mayville.

Mr. Feller was born on Sept. 8, 1918, in the town of Hubbard, the son of Ernst and Edna (Breitkreutz) Feller. He was married on Oct. 14, 1944, to Virginia Schabel in Mayville. He was married on June 28, 1975, to Vinilda Billings in Mayville.

Mr. Feller worked as a milk truck driver for Pabst Farms, Oconomowoc, and for the Dodge County Highway Commission, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, township of Theresa.

Survivors include one step-son, Perry (Diane) Billings, Theresa; one step-daughter, Sandra (Keith) Buss, Lolo, Mont.; four brothers, Merlin (Phyllis) Feller, Alvin (Alice) Feller, and Victor Feller, all of Iron Ridge, and Leslie (Arlene) Feller, Mayville; two sisters, Elda Ewert, Horicon, and Lucille (Edward) Collien, Theresa; 16 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, uncles, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by both wives; two brothers; two sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 25, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, and on Monday, March 26, from noon until the time of service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, township of Theresa.

Herman O. Erdman
COLUMBUS - Herman O. Erdman, 69, formerly of Columbus, died on Thursday, March 22, 2001, at the Columbus Center.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, March 25, at 1 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Doylestown. The Rev. James Bolda will officiate. Burial will follow, with military rites, in Ohio cemetery, Rio.

Mr. Erdman was born on March 11, 1932, in the township of Otsego, the son of Otto and Verna (Ludwig) Erdman.

Mr. Erdman served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He worked for many years farming and for Busse Brothers, Advance Products and Trek Bicycle. He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Doylestown.

Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia (Bernard) Hoekstra, Randolph; two sisters, Myrtle Schultz, and Doris Guenther, both of Beaver Dam; two granddaughters; nieces, nephews, uncles, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Edward Erdman, on Aug. 9, 1980; one daughter, Lynn Marie Erdman, on Aug. 9, 1980; one sister, Dolores Wakeman, and three brothers-in-law, Lloyd Schultz, Donald Wakeman and Reynold Guenther.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 25, from 11 a.m. until the time of service, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Doylestown.

The Vangen Funeral Home, Rio, is serving the family.

Shirley M. Gietzel
MARSHALL - Shirley M. Gietzel 72, of Marshall, died on Saturday, March 24, 2001, at The HospiceCare Inpatient Center.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 28, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marshall. The Monsignor Raymond Klass will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Hearts cemetery, Sun Prairie.

Mrs. Gietzel was born on Feb. 27, 1929, in Baraboo, the daughter of William and Mary (Preibil) Zimmerman. She was married on April 7, 1951, to Franklin Gietzel at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Gietzel had been employed as a realtor in the Sun Prairie area for many years. She was a member of St. Mary of the Nativity Catholic Church, Marshall. She was a lover of horses and dogs.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Gietzel, Marshall; cousin, Kathy (Douglas) Ellsworth, Eau Claire; several other cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Wednesday, March 28, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marshall.

Memorials may be made to the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg.

Marciel O. Bauer
Marciel O. Bauer, 82, of 168 E. Davis St., Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, March 25, 2001, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 27, at 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Samuel Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery, Horicon.

Mrs. Bauer was born on Oct. 18, 1918, in Mayville, the daughter of Otto and Lydia (Albert) Brummund. She was married on April 30, 1938, to Reinhold Bauer in Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Bauer was a housewife.

Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie Bauer, Beaver Dam; one brother, Robert Brummund, Beaver Dam; two sisters-in-law, Selma Albert, and Regina Canney; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reinhold, on March 3, 1983; one half-brother, Howard Albert, and five brothers-in-law.

Friends may call on Tuesday, March 27, from 4:30 p.m. until the time of service at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Merlin Rossing
CONRATH - Merlin Rossing, 76, of Conrath, formerly of Horicon, died on Sunday, March 25, 2001, at his home.

Memorial visitation will be on Thursday, March 29, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. Cremation has taken place.

Mr. Rossing was born on July 31, 1924, in Eden County, Iowa, the son of Earl and Rose (Krueger) Rossing. He was married on June 8, 1957, to Donna Smith in Duluth, Iowa.

Mr. Rossing had lived in Horicon for many years, where he was self employed as a painter. He moved to the north woods due to medical problems in 1985. He will always be remembered for his strong family values.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Rossing, Conrath; one son Eugene Rossing, Horicon; two daughters, Carolyn (Joe) Recheck, Stevens Point, and Lori (Brian) Megener, Slinger; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene, Cletus and Veinus Rossing, Reedsburg; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Rossing, in 1981, and two brothers, Karl and Cleon.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 29, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon.

Ted Ziomek
RIO - Ted Ziomek, of N4799 Ludwig Road, Rio, died on Sunday, March 25, 2001, at his home.

The funeral is pending with the Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus.

Delmar D. Dummer
RACINE - Delmar D. Dummer, 80, died on Thursday, March 22, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Milwaukee.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 27, at 1 p.m., at the Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main St., Racine. The Rev. Ron Held will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial cemetery.

Mr. Dummer was born in Beaver Dam, the son of Ed and Goldie (Uebel) Dummer. He was married to Clara Possin.

Mr. Dummer was a First Class Seaman in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a refrigerator repairman and a bartender in Beaver Dam. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, collecting arrowheads and most recently crafts. He will be sadly missed.

Survivors include five children, Sharon (David) Keil, David (Vicki) Dummer, Judy (Martin) Lauth, all of Beaver Dam, Marcia (Ron) Schuld, Lake Mills, and Deb (Joe) Stancer, Mercer; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; dear friend, Donna Peterson; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clara; an infant son, Scott; another son, Mark; one brother, and one sister.

Friends may call on Tuesday, March 27, from 11 a.m. until the time of service, at the Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home, Racine.

Edgar G. Mueller
MAYVILLE - Edgar G. Mueller, 87, 103 S. John St., Mayville, died on Friday, March 23, 2001, at St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 27, at 4 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Geoffrey Hoy will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Mayville.

Mr. Mueller was born on March 27, 1913, in Mayville, the son of Conrad and Marie (Machmueller) Mueller Sr. He was married on June 17, 1937, to Dorothy Krueger at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Mr. Mueller was a 1929 graduate of Mayville High School. He was then employed at his father's print shop, which is presently the Mayville News. During World War II, he worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal System. He was also a school bus driver for 35 years and served as a Mayville alderman. His lifelong interest was photography. He was a free-lance photographer, taking pictures of many Mayville generations. Later in life, he specialized in wildlife photography. His career is chronicled at an exhibit in the Mayville White Limestone School. He was affiliated with barbershop singing, S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Mueller, Mayville; one son, David Mueller, Mayville; two daughters, Kay (Robert) Peterson, Milan, Italy, and Faith (Dr. Edward K.) Rath, New Berlin; one sister, Gertrude Pearson, Madison; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Conrad Mueller Jr., and one sister, Esther Mueller.

Friends may call on Tuesday, March 27, from 2 p.m. until the time of service at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church organ fund.

Charles B. Bernard III
WAUKEGAN - Charles B. Bernard III, 83, of Waukegan, died on Saturday, March 24, 2001, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 28, at 10 a.m., at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 3350 N. Delaney, Waukegan. The Rev. Jeffrey Korth will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park.

Mr. Bernard was born on Dec. 7, 1917, in Norfolk, Va. He was married to Ruth Hoeft.

Mr. Bernard was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, past president of Waukegan-Little Fort Lions Club, former member of the Wisconsin, Illinois and National Environmental Health Associations, former member of the American Water Works Association and a former member of the U.S. Water Pollution Control Association. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1965, after 30 years of service. He retired from the Lake County Health Department in 1979, as an environmental control engineer.

Survivors include one son, Charles S. (Carole) Bernard, Philadelphia, Pa.; one daughter, Helene (Alan) Peterson, Hacienda Heights, Calif.; two brothers, Kinter (Jean) Bernard, Lakeland, Fla., and George (Vivian) Bernard, Winter Park, Fla.; one sister, Nell (John) SanTivasci, Norfolk, Va.; four grandchildren, Steven Bernard, Joanne Owens, Stephen Peterson, and Erick (Jennifer) Peterson; three great-grandchildren, Zachary Peterson, and Kelly and Kristen Owens; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Ruth, in 1981.

Friends may call on Tuesday, March 27, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Marsh Funeral Home, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan, and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Waukegan.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Waukegan, or the American Cancer Society.
