Lolette J. Snyder
Lolette J. Snyder, 93, of Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 31, at noon, at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Snyder was born on Sept. 15, 1907, in Stevens Point, the daughter of John and Catherine (Podolski) Knapp. She was married on Sept. 24, 1931, to Clarence Snyder in Stevens Point.

Mrs. Snyder was employed at Whiting paper company until her marriage in 1931. She lived in several communities: Milladore, Bowler and North Freedom, where her husband was principal, and finally Beaver Dam, where she taught biology from 1942 to 1973. She was a housewife and enjoyed gardening and attending Beaver Dam High School basketball and football games. She was employed in the Beaver Dam shoe factory during World War II and worked in the summers for Green Giant canning factories in Beaver Dam and Fox Lake. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, and the Beaver Dam Faculty Bridge Club for many years. Later she became an avid bowler in the Beaver Dam Senior Citizens and city leagues.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald (Joan) Snyder, Chandler, Ariz., and David (Patricia) Snyder, Madison; one daughter, Mary (Tim) Foley, Ashland; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank (Izzy) Knapp, Stevens Point; three sisters, Ann Adams, Wisconsin Rapids, Helen Vaughn, Madison, and Lorraine Livingston, Walnut Creek, Calif.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; her twin sister, in infancy; two other sisters, Martha Tepp and Margaret Johnson, and one brother Pete Knapp.

Friends may call on Saturday, March 31, from 11 a.m. until the time of service, at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Eugene M. Wild Sr.
WAUPUN - Eugene Michael Wild Sr., 78, of 717 Maple View Drive, Waupun, died on Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 11 a.m., at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, LeRoy. The Rev. Michael L. Wild will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Catholic Church cemetery, LeRoy.

Mr. Wild was born on Jan. 31, 1923, in LeRoy, the son of Michael M. and Olive (Reible) Wild. He was married on Oct. 25, 1947, to Mary Ann Ries at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, LeRoy.

Mr. Wild was a self-employed farmer in the LeRoy area for many years. Later in life he worked in construction and maintenance. He enjoyed water skiing and loved to travel. He restored vintage tractors and was an avid sheepshead player. He was a lifelong member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, LeRoy.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Wild, Waupun; two sons, the Rev. Michael L. Wild, Fox Lake, and Eugene E. (Sharon) Wild, Mayville; two daughters, Katherine Wild and Christine (David) Cargen, both of Beaver Dam; six grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Schraufnagel, LeRoy; one aunt, Leona Wild, Rockford, Ill.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, John.

Friends may call on Friday, March 30, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m., at the Cottrill Funeral Home, Mayville, and on Saturday, March 31, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, LeRoy. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arthur DeVries
FRIESLAND - Arthur "Art" DeVries, 87, of Friesland, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Continental Manor, Randolph.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 1:30 p.m., at the Friesland Reformed Church. The Rev. Ronald Vander Werff will officiate. Burial will be in Friesland cemetery.

Mr. DeVries was born on May 9, 1913, in Prinsburg, Minn., the son of John and Trijntye (Banstra) DeVries. He was married on July 4, 1941, to Lillian Hendrickson at the Rio Lutheran Church parsonage, by Rev. G.A. Sunby.

Mr. DeVries received his education from a Christian school in Pease, Minn. He was a self employed carpenter, building several homes in Friesland, Cambria, Randolph and surrounding area. He built the house where he and Lillian have resided since 1947. He was also a well known green-thumb tending to the garden that he took great pride in. He was a devoted member of Friesland Reformed Church, where he served as a deacon and an elder and served three terms as vice president of the Consistory. He was also the Sunday School Superintendent and taught Catechism for many years. He will be sadly missed and mourned by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lillian DeVries, Friesland; one son, the Rev. David (Debbie) DeVries, Rexford, N.Y.; four grandsons, Dallas, Derek, Dion and Daron DeVries; one sister, Dena Sauer, Waupun; special friend, Cindy (Al) DeVries, and their sons, Stephen and Michael; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Andrew, Albert, Elmer and Harold, and one sister, Ida.

Friends may call on Saturday, March 31, from noon until the time of service, at the Friesland Reformed Church. The Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria, is serving the family.

Tena Schregardus
RANDOLPH - Tena Schregardus, 92, of 502 S. High Street, Randolph, died on Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Continental Manor, Randolph.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 11 a.m., at the Second Reformed Christian Church, Randolph. The Rev. James Admiraal will officiate. Burial will be in Randolph cemetery.

Mrs. Schregardus was born on May 10, 1908, in Friesland, the daughter of Ray and Jenny (Alsum) Alsum. She was married on Aug. 26, 1930, to Arthur Schregardus in Friesland.

Mrs. Schregardus lived in the Randolph area all her life. Her life and Testimony of her Lord was a great witness to her family and friends. A teacher at heart, she taught or led Bible studies, beginning with migrant workers in the 1940s, to her church Bible studies, Continental Manor, Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, Beaver Dam, and Prison Ministries. As an extensive traveler, she shared her experiences via her many slide presentations to various churches in the area. She was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church, Randolph.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Continental Manor.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce (Don) Logan, Vero Beach, Fla.; one son, Ralph (Cheryl) Schregardus, Milwaukee; one daughter-in-law, Etta Schregardus, Randolph; 11 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bess Kok and Elsie Koopmans, both of Randolph; two sisters-in-law, Lena Alsum and Hendrene Alsum, both of Randolph; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur, in 1954; one son; one granddaughter; two sisters, and four brothers.

Friends may call on Saturday, March 31, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Second Christian Reformed Church, Randolph.

A memorial fund is being established for the Randolph Christian Schools.

The Randolph Community Funeral Home, is serving the family.

Garret J. Riel
WAUPUN - Garret J. Riel, 73, of Waupun, died on Thursday, March 29, 2001, at the Christian Home, Waupun.

The funeral will be held on Monday, April 2, at 2 p.m., at Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun. The Rev. Kenneth Spence will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Mound cemetery, Waupun. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 210 firing squad.

Mr. Riel was born on May 9, 1927, in Alto, the son of John and Winnie (Searvogel) Riel. He was married on May 6, 1949, to Johanna "Jo" Aarts.

Mr. Riel served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II, from July 9, 1945 to Dec. 22, 1946. He worked as a carpenter for Home Contractors for 32 years. He was a member of Bentley-Hull VFW Post No. 6709 for 20 years and a member of the Getchel-Nelson American Legion Post No. 210 for 38 years. He was a member of Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun.

Survivors include his wife, Johanna "Jo" Riel, Waupun; two daughters, Debra Riel and Angela (Scott) Fairbank, both of Waupun; three grandchildren, Betty Fairbank, Erinn Fairbank and Patricia Nieuwdort; three brothers, James (Alice) Riel, Walter (Katherine) Riel and Wilbert (Joyce) Riel, all of Waupun; three sisters, Angeline Abel, Mayville, Johanna (Kenneth) Der Stratte, Oostburg, and Haleta (Cliff) Otte, Sheboygan Falls; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters, and one son-in-law.

Friends may call on Monday, April 2, from noon until the time of service, at Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun.

Memorials may be made to Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun.

The Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, is serving the family.

Jim L. Harris
JUNEAU - Jim L. Harris, 63, Juneau, died on Friday, March 30, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Monday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m., at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau. The Rev. Paul Foulke will officiate. There will be a private interment.

Mr. Harris was born on Jan. 8, 1938, in New Site, Miss., the son of Lather and Gladys Harris.

Mr. Harris owned and operated the Monarch Auto Supply, Beaver Dam, for many years. His hobby was working on cars. He often used Bassett's Furniture Store's parking lot to showcase vintage cars. His were Mustangs. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his fiancee, Eileen Levandowski, Juneau; two daughters, Christie Harris, Madison, and Amy Harris, Phoenix, Ariz.; two step-children, Gale Levandowski, Lombard, Ill., and David (Melissa) Levandowski, Michigan City, Ind.; his mother, Gladys (Anthony) Harmon, Mountain Home, Ark.; relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call on Monday, April 2, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau.

Edward J. Cigielski
FOX LAKE - Edward J. Cigielski, 90, of Blackhawk Trail, died on Dec. 12, 2000, in Milwaukee.

The funeral was held at the Nativity of The Lord Church, with burial at St. Adalberts cemetery, Milwaukee.

Survivors include his children, Daniel (Bernice) Rosinski, Richard Rosinski, Patricia (John) Adamski, and Kathleen (Alan) Przybyla; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one niece, one nephew; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie.

Nettie F. Mallon
Nettie F. Mallon, 93, of Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 5, at 11 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Bill Key will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic cemetery.

Mrs. Mallon was born on Aug. 25, 1907, in Lost Lake, the daughter of Herman and Clara (Achterberg) Sommerfield. She was married on Sept. 18, 1934, to Bernard Mallon in Doylestown.

Mrs. Mallon and her husband moved to Beaver Dam in 1935. She worked at several area businesses including Spangler Apartments; Monarch Range, inspecting shells during World War II; Drennan's Dime Store, behind the lunch counter, and A & P as a meat wrapper. She worked for many years in the housekeeping department at Beaver Dam Community Hospital, formerly St. Joseph's Catholic Hospital, until she retired. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, and had been active in the Eagles, the VFW and the Royal Neighbors. She was also an avid Packer and Cubs fan.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia (Jay) McCausland, Tempe, Ariz./Denver, Colo.; one sister, Fern Mallon, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard; one brother, Floyd Sommerfield, and two sisters, Goldie Neuman and Ruth Miller.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 4, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Thursday, April 5, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Harold E. Radke
OCONOMOWOC - Harold E. Radke, 89 of Oconomowoc, died on Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Marquardt Memorial Manor, Watertown.

The funeral will be held on Friday, April 6, at 11 a.m., at Dr. Martin Luther Church, Luther Ave., Oconomowoc. The Rev. Ken Soderlund will officiate. Burial will be in Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia.

Mr. Radke was born on June 12, 1911, in the town of Summit, the son of Fred and Ida (Krueger) Radke. He was married on May 5, 1934, to Addaline Borchardt in Ashippun.

Mr. Radke was a retired chief of police for the city of Oconomowoc. He started with the Oconomowoc Police Department on Aug. 29, 1945. He was promoted to sergeant in 1950, named captain in 1960, named chief on March 21, 1966, and retired from the department on Dec. 31, 1973. When he joined the department, the late Robert Race was chief. Previously, Mr. Radke had been a supervisor at A.O. Smith.

Mr. Radke had been active in law enforcement agencies and organizations during his 25 years in the department. He had been director of the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Officers Association for six years; a past director of the Wisconsin Association for Identification; national vice president for the American Federation of Police, chairman of the crime prevention bureau, and vice president of the Waukesha County Chiefs' Association. He was a civil defense director for Oconomowoc for a number of years. He had also devoted a great deal of time and effort throughout his career to safety patrol and to school programs in the schools. He also helped organize and work with youth hot rod clubs. He was a member of Dr. Martin Luther Church, Oconomowoc.

Survivors include six children, Carol (Claude) Rex, Horicon, David (Karen) Radke, Neshkoro, Lois Radke, Brookfield, Sandra Braunschweig, Oconomowoc, and Nancy (Spenser) Lueck, Watertown, and Phyllis (David) Kottke, Muskego; one sister, Elsie Yahn, Saganaw, Mich.; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Addaline; two children, Christine and Richard; one brother, Theodore, and four sisters, Anne, Clara, Wilhelmina and Dorothy.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 5, from 5 to 9 p.m., at the Schmidt & Bartelt Notbohm-Kreutzmann Funeral Home, 121 S. Cross St., Oconomowoc.

Herbert F. Miller
RANDOLPH - Herbert F. Miller, 70, of Randolph formerly of Walworth, died on Saturday, March 31, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 5, at 11 a.m., at Toynton's Walworth Funeral Home, 328 Kenosha St., Walworth. The Rev. Janez Kutzke will officiate. Burial will be in Walworth cemetery.

Mr. Miller was born on July 11, 1930, in Chicago, the son of Herbert W. and Pearl (Lehman) Miller. He was married on July 29, 1950, to Joyce Knull in Walworth.

Mr. Miller grew up in Clinton, Elkhorn and Walworth. He was a 1948 graduate of Walworth High School and served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. In 1959 he became the owner and editor of the Randolph Advance. In 1967 he sold the paper and purchased the Sharon Reporter and the Walworth Times papers, followed by the purchase of the Clinton Topper. It was during this time that he was instrumental in the organization of Central Printing Corporation, which is now located in Delevan. In 1978 he sold the papers and returned to Randolph where he and his wife were owners of the J & H Tap until 1986. Since he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, it was during this time he and Joyce were able to take time for a trip to Arizona to watch the Cubs play. After a short retirement he went to work for Staehling Brothers Printing, Waupun, until he finally retired in 1996.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Fox Lake American Legion Post, a former member of the Beaver Dam 40&8, the Ingalls-Koeppen American Legion Post in Walworth, the Williams Bay Lions Club, the Randolph and Walworth Fire Departments and was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church, Walworth.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Miller, Randolph; one daughter, Barb (Ron) Peterson, Milton; one son, Gary (Kathy) Miller, Walworth; four grandchildren, Steven, Waukesha, Sarah, Madison, and Nick and Rachel, Walworth; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 3, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake, and on Wednesday, April 4, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Toynton's Walworth Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made in Herb's name to the Randolph Rescue Squad or the Walworth Summer Baseball program.
