Frieda N. Miller
HORICON - Frieda N. Miller, 87, of 602 N. Hubbard St., Horicon, died on Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Continental Manor, Randolph.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m., at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon. The Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Horicon.

Mrs. Miller was born on March 26, 1914, in Horicon, the daughter of Gustav and Hulda (Rahn) Krueger. She was married on May 18, 1935, to Harvey Miller in Horicon.

Mrs. Miller was a 1932 graduate of Horicon High School, and a graduate of Spencerian Business College, Milwaukee. She was employed at Elliot's Model, Beaver Dam, for 18 years. She was a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon, St. Stephen's choir, and St. Stephen's Ladies Guild, holding several offices.

Survivors include one son, Keith (Judith) Miller, Beaver Dam; one brother, Franklin (Dorothy) Krueger, Juneau; three sisters, Hattie Schaefer, Waukesha, Leona Fischer, Hartford, and Elsie (Rueben) Becker, Sarona; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, in 1988; one son, Gary; two sisters, Mary and Gertrude, and two brothers, Ewald and William.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 21, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, and on Sunday, April 22, from 1 p.m. until the time of service, at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.

John H. Lepple
BURNETT - John H. Lepple, 55, of W5747 Swan Road, Burnett, died on Thursday, April 19, 2001, due to an automobile accident.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 24, at 1 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. The Revs. Douglas Westenberg and Thomas Biedenbender will officiate. Burial will be in Stone cemetery, Burnett.

Mr. Lepple was born on Jan. 18, 1946, in Beaver Dam, the son of William and Elizabeth (Schell) Lepple. He was married on Oct. 4, 1969, to Barbara Beier at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett.

Mr. Lepple was a graduate of Dodgeland High School and UW-Madison Agriculture Short Course. He was a dairy farmer in Juneau until 1994, and was presently employed with East Central/Select Sires, Waupun, as an AI technician. He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau, and was a past member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran School Board.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Lepple, Burnett; two sons, Paul Lepple, Burnett, and Phill Lepple, Waukesha; his mother, Elizabeth Lepple, Juneau; one brother, Robert W. (Beverly J.) Lepple, Juneau; mother-in-law, Mildred M. Beier, Burnett; brother-in-law, Jerry (Jo-Ann) Beier, Juneau,; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Albert) Peirick, Burnett; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William, on May 2, 2000, and one sister, Linda, in infancy.

Friends may call on Monday, April 23, from 5 to 9 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Tuesday, April 24, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau, church debt fund, or to Lakeside Lutheran.

William A. Affeld
JUNEAU - William A. Affeld, 66, of Juneau, died on Thursday, April 19, 2001, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 24, at 4:15 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. The Rev. Thomas Biedenbender will officiate. Burial will be in Juneau City cemetery.

Mr. Affeld was born on June 19, 1934, in Marshfield, the son of A. Elmer and Marie Affeld. He was married on Oct. 10, 1959, to Geraldine Wittig in Dubuque, Iowa.

Mr. Affeld served his country in the U.S. Army. He was an avid bowler for many years. He worked at Aunt Nellies, which became Pillsbury Company and now Seneca Foods. He retired after 29 years of service to these companies. He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau, for over 52 years. During his tenure at church, he was active in many church duties and enjoyed ushering for Sunday's services.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Geraldine Affeld, Juneau; five children, Cheryl (Art) Wakeman, Chesapeake, Va., Gary Affeld, Juneau, Wendy (Donald) Peschl, Reeseville, Michelle (Bill) Kroll, Oshkosh, and James Affeld, Juneau; five grandchildren; four brothers, John Affeld, Watertown, Richard (Ruth) Affeld, Colorado Springs, Colo., Robert (Dorinda) Affeld, Juneau, and Donald (Pat) Affeld, Royal Oaks, Mich.; three sisters, Ruth (Harold) Brehm, Edmora, Mich., Marge (Fred) Goldblatt, Tarzana, Calif., and Lois (Leo) Riechers, Peoria, Ariz.; one aunt, Irma Affeld, Juneau; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 24, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau.

Jasper E. Towne
BRANDON - Jasper E. Towne, 84, of Amity Road, Brandon, died on Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Parkview Care Center, Ripon, where he had been a resident for the past year.

The funeral will be held on Monday, April 23, at 11 a.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. Rebecca Johnston will officiate. Burial will be in Cattaraugus cemetery, town of Waupun.

Mr. Towne was born on Aug. 2, 1916, in Waupun, the son of Harold and Emily (Stuber) Towne. He was married in Jan. 1, 1942, to Lucille Sieg.

Mr. Towne attended Waupun schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served from 1942 to 1943. He and his wife lived in the Waupun area all their lives, where he was a journeyman cement mason and also farmed.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Towne, Brandon; two sons, Gary (Cindy) Towne, Fair Oaks, Calif., and Dennis (Linda) Towne, Ripon; seven grandchildren, Lisa Sweeney, Oshkosh, Kris Towne, Green Lake, Tammy Pratt, Fond du Lac, Nicole Molnar, Fox Lake, Heather Heilsberg, Iola, and Tanya and Eric Towne, Ripon; three great-grandchildren., C.J. Pratt, Waupun, Steve Bronkhorst, Fox Lake, and Leigha, Green Lake; two brothers, Maurice (Leah) Towne, Manhattan, Kan., and Gordon (Nancy) Towne, Madison; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Delorse Heilsburg, in 1988, and two sisters.

Friends may call on Monday, April 23, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun.

Dorothy Schlegel
MIDDLETON - Dorothy Schlegel, 84, of Middleton, died on Friday, April 20, 2001, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at 11:30 a.m., at Gunderson West Funeral Home, 7435 University Ave., Middleton. The Rev. John Swanson will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m., at the Burnett Central cemetery, Dodge County.

Mrs. Schlegel was born on Aug. 20, 1916, in LeRoy, the daughter of Edward and Elsie Schrab. She was married on May 9, 1937, to Delmar C. Schlegel in Brownsville.

Mrs. Schlegel was a 1933 graduate of Oakfield High School, and a 1934 graduate of Milwaukee School of Beauty Culture. She and her husband operated Schlegel's Super Market in Clyman for 34 years. After moving to Middleton in 1971, she worked at Swiss Colony and Gimbel's, from which she retired in 1989. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, and especially enjoyed her membership in the church's Eunice Circle.

Survivors include one son, Robert Schlegel, Middleton; three daughters, Marilynn (William) Woods, Moorhead, Minn., Deborah (Ted) Haupert, and Donnella Hurley, both of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren, Linnea (Bernard) Osborne, Juneau, Alaska, Glen (Kim) Woods, Pelican, Alaska, Gilbert Woods, Moorhead, Minn., and Robert Haupert, Sacramento, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Bernadette Osborne and Nicholas Woods, both of Alaska; two brothers, Donald Schrab, Horicon, and Raymond (Victoria) Schrab, Juneau, Wis.; one brother-in-law, Courtney (Doris) Schlegel, East China, Minn.; nieces, nephews, relatives and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delmar; one son-in-law, Robert Hurley, and one sister-in-law, Ruth Schrab.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 25, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Gunderson West Funeral Home, Middleton.

Memorials may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Home, Watertown.

Elizabeth M. Hughes
MARSHALL - Elizabeth M. Hughes, 83, of 7616 Deansville Road, Marshall, died on Sunday, April 22, 2001, at her home.

Private family services will be held on Tuesday, April 24, at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.

Mrs. Hughes was born on Aug. 26, 1917, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of John and Amanda Halfman. She was married on July 13, 1946, to O.W. "Fritz" Hughes in Hannibal, Mo.

Mrs. Hughes was a veteran of World War I, having served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include her husband, "Fritz" Hughes, Marshall; two sons, John (Madeline) Brown, Fall River, and Richard (Linda) Hughes, Marshall; two daughters, Mary (Dean) Helwig, Marshall, and Susan (Richard Schweers) Hughes, San Francisco, Calif.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, Michael, and two brothers, Roy and Richard Halfman.

There will be no visitation.

The Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, is serving the family.

Arthur A. Kuehn
Arthur A. Kuehn, 89, of 1237 E. Circle Drive, Beaver Dam, died on Friday, April 20, 2001, at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 25, at 1 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Rae Ann Bloomquist will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Kuehn was born on Oct. 8, 1911, in the town of Shields, the son of Henry and Alvina (Ihde) Kuehn. He was married on Oct. 6, 1938, to Erna Voigt.

Mr. Kuehn was employed with the Dodge County Highway Department for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Erna Kuehn, Beaver Dam; one daughter, Janet (Gary) Yapp, Verona; two sons, Delvin (Diane) Kuehn, Waupun, and Allan (Carol) Kuehn, Beaver Dam; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother; two sisters, and one grandson, Andy Kuehn.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 25, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Pauline A. Olson
WAUPUN - Pauline A. Olson, 94, formerly of 920 Rock Ave., Waupun, died on Friday, April 20, 2001, at Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 24, at noon, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun. The Rev. Richard E. Lawrence will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Mound cemetery, Waupun.

Mrs. Olson was born on Oct. 19, 1906, in Libertyville, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. Charles and Madge (Van Zant) Hankins. She was married on July 18, 1934, to Glen C. Olson in Sioux City, Iowa.

Mrs. Olson was a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University and was a high school English teacher. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun, and was very active in the community.

Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis (Jerry) Kemmel, Brownsville; one son, Norman Olson, Mayville; nine gandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Charles R. (Fern) Hankins, Omaha, Neb.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, on Jan. 29, 1990, and one infant daughter.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 24, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun.

The Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, is serving the family.

Flora Huizenga
WAUPUN - Flora Huizenga, 85, of Waupun, died on Friday, April 20, 2001, at All About Life Rehabilitation Center, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 24, at 10:30 a.m., at Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Rick Bawinkel will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Mound cemetery, Waupun.

Mrs. Huizenga was born on Sept. 6, 1915, in Sheboygan, the daughter of Henry and Tannie (Bayens) Buteyn. She was married on Sept. 10, 1942, to Willard J. Huizenga in Alto.

Mrs. Huizenga and her husband resided in Waupun all their married life. She was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun, where she was a member of the Reformed Church Missions and had been a Sunday school teacher. She was employed by CESA as a custodian in the Waupun area for 20 years. She was a devout Christian, wife and mother.

Survivors include her husband, Willard Huizenga, Waupun; three daughters, Trudy (Bob) Feldt, Fulton, Ill., Janice (Dave) Dunisch, Andover, Minn., and Delaine (Bruce) Sparks, West Jordan, Utah; one son, Willard Lee "Bill" (Chris) Huizenga, Fond du Lac; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters, Cornelia Kemink, Delia Buteyn, Henrietta Buteyn, and Corine Buteyn, all of Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two infant children; two brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call on Monday, April 23, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Tuesday, April 24, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, at Emmanuel Reformed Church, Waupun.

Hildegarde H. Eckhardt
WAUPUN - Hildegarde H. Eckhardt, 93, of Waupun, died on Sunday, April 22, 2001, at the Christian Home, Waupun, where she had been a resident for the past year.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 25, at 11 a.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. Michael Bausch will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m., in Oak Hill cemetery, Watertown.

Mrs. Eckhardt was born on Aug. 12, 1907, in the town of Milford, the daughter of William and Augusta (Wendt) Krause. She was married on Aug. 9, 1928, to Ervin Eckhardt in Watertown.

Mrs. Eckhardt and her husband lived in Watertown prior to moving to Theresa, where they owned and operated the Golden Pheasant Tavern for many years. She moved to Waupun in the late 1970s, and was a member of the United Methodist Church, Waupun, and an honorary member of Plattdeutscher Auxiliary, Watertown.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley (Reuben) Hepp, Watertown, and Ivy (Harlan) Johnson, South Byron; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace Freitag, Watertown; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin, in 1958; two brothers; one granddaughter; one great-grandson, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 25, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Waupun.
