Nina L. Anhauser
COLUMBUS - Nina L. Anhauser, 76, of N108 Marshall Road, Columbus, died on Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Friday, May 11, at 1 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus. The Rev. John Hobbins will officiate. Burial will be in Okeeg cemetery, Danville.

Mrs. Anhauser was born on July 5, 1924, in Dalton, the daughter of Hallie and Bonnie (Chapman) Potter. She was married on Oct. 22, 1966 to John Anhauser.

Mrs. Anhauser was seasonally employed at Green Giant, Beaver Dam, and The Wisconsin Cheeseman, Sun Prairie.

Survivors include one son, Joseph (Loretta) Brunell, Columbus; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Aluvia "Tootie" Heisig, Columbus; one brother, George (Audrey) Potter, Lake Mills; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, in 1982; two brothers, Gerald and Lawrence, and one sister, Bonnie Potter.

Friends may call on Friday, May 11, from noon until the time of service, at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus.

Andrew Martin
Andrew Martin, 65, of Beaver Dam, died on Friday, May 11, 2001, at his home.

The funeral is pending with the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Richard D. Pavelka
Richard "Punker" Dean Pavelka, 39, of 117 Lakecrest Drive, Apt. 6, Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Monday, May 14, at 7 p.m., at St. John's English Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Rae Ann Bloomquist will officiate. Private burial services will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mr. Pavelka was born on May 2, 1962, in Beaver Dam, the son of John J. and Clara Ruth (Peterson) Pavelka.

Mr. Pavelka was a 1980 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He was employed with Federal Mogel, Waupun. He also managed Tower Lanes, Beaver Dam, for many years. He loved fishing and bowling. He loved people and was a very easy going person. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his mother, Clara Ruth Pavelka, Beaver Dam; three sisters, Judy (Gerald) Miller, Fox Lake, Cindy (James) Gubin, Beaver Dam, and Susan Martin, Oshkosh; five brothers, Duane Pavelka, John (Nancy) Pavelka, Ronald Pavelka, all of Beaver Dam, Donald (Linda) Pavelka, Green Bay, and Randy Pavelka, Beaver Dam; special friend, Lori Grahn and her two children, Adam and Jessica; his faithful dog, Asia; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John J. Pavelka, on March 18, 2000, and one niece, Sylvia Pavelka.

Friends may call on Monday, May 14, from 4 to 7 p.m., at St. John's English Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to the Pavelka family.

Helen E. Freeman
Helen E. Freeman, 80, of Beaver Dam, died on Monday, May 14, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral is pending with the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Ordell Thomas
CLEWISTON, Fla. - Ordell Bergemann Thomas, 68, of Clewiston, Fla. died on May 3, 2001, in Clewiston, Fla.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 19, at 1:30 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church, Browns Corners. The Rev. Roever will officiate. Cremation took place.

Mrs. Thomas was born on Oct. 10, 1932, in the town of Hubbard, the daughter of Herbert and Henrietta (Voy) Pagel. She was married to F. Thomas.

Mrs. Thomas worked at Green Giant, Beaver Dam for several years.

Survivors include her husband, F. Thomas, Clewiston, Fla.; one son, Michael (Debra) Bergmann, Markesan; one daughter, Bonnie (Robert) Nebl, Ripon; one sister, Dorothy Austin, West Bend; two brothers, Palmer Pagel and Donald (Karen) Pagel, both of Horicon; one sister-in-law, Barbara Pagel, Mayville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Henrietta Pagel; one brother, Herbert Pagel, and one brother-in-law, Roy Austin.

Florence F. Twardokus
HORICON - Florence F. Twardokus, 84, of Horicon, died on Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Clearview South, Juneau.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 16, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon. The Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be in Stone cemetery, town of Burnett.

Mrs. Twardokus was born on Dec. 9, 1916, in the town of Burnett, the daughter of Otto and Bertha (Backhaus) Naffin. She was married on Sept. 4, 1937, to Robert Twardokus at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Mrs. Twardokus was a life long resident of Dodge County, and a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church for many years. She farmed with her husband, in the town of Burnett, for many years, retiring in 1986, then moving to Horicon.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Twardokus, Horicon; two sons, Richard (Estela) Twardokus, Houston, Texas, and Ken (Linda) Twardokus, McHenry, Ill.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer (Margaret) Naffin, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Viola Buchmann, and one brother, Melvin Naffin.

Friends may call on Wednesday, May 16, from 9:30 a.m., until the time of service at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Memorials may be made to the St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church building fund.

Marie J. Rake
ROCHESTER, Minn. - Marie Judith Rake, 74, of Rochester, Minn., Evanston, Ill., and Columbus, died on Tuesday, May 15, 2001, after a long battle with cancer.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 22, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, Columbus. The Rev. Bruce Hennington will officiate. Burial will be in St. Jerome's cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Herb Lenz, Thomas Lee, Douglas Rake, Robert Rake and Merlin Thom.

Ms. Rake was born on Aug. 17, 1926, in the town of Calamus, the daughter of Joseph and Julia (Neuman) Rake.

Ms. Rake grew up on the family farm. She was a 1944 graduate of Columbus High School and attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Music was an important part of her life and she moved to Evanston, Ill., and took voice lessons. She auditioned for the popular Eddie Hubbard TV talent show in Chicago and won the competition. She then received invitations to perform throughout the area. One of her favorite things was singing for the veterans at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital at Christmas, which was sponsored by the Red Cross. She auditioned for the Apollo Opera Company in Chicago and was cast as Lola Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana," her first operatic role. She then auditioned for the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and was selected to be in the opera company. Originally she sang as a professional chorister in the supplementary chorus for four operas. The following three years she sang in 11 operas each year. She performed in Mozart's "The Magic Flute," Verdi's "Othello" and "Aida," Bizet's "The Pearl Fishers," Puccini's "Madame Butterfly" and "La Boheme," and her favorite, the Russian "Boris Gudnov" by Moussorgsky, and others. She then became a full-time legal secretary for Owen Rall, a litigation attorney with Peterson, Ross, Rall, Barber and Seidel, in Chicago, where she worked for eight years. After Mr. Rall's death, she worked for various law firms until her retirement. She continued her music, primarily as a soloist. She moved to Rochester, Minn., and was the chair of the Patient Visitor Movie Program with the Mayo Clinic Volunteer Services. She also was a volunteer with the Blood Donor Center. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Rochester, Minn.

A special thank you is extended to Jeanne Hiney for her help during Marie's visits to Wisconsin.

Survivors include one brother, Leo Rake, Madison; two nieces, Ann Kraft, Lexington, Ky., and Mary (Thomas) Kraft-Lee, DVM, Sun Prairie; great-nieces; great-nephews; relatives and many friends, especially Arlie Gill, Marge Lukaszewski, Joann and George Smith and Ellen Spoo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Luella Kraft, and five brothers, Karl, Ronald, Oscar, Erwin, and Clarence.

Friends may call on Friday, May 18, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Macken Funeral Home, Rochester, Minn., and Monday, May 21, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 8 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus.

Memorials may be made to Mayo Hospice, 200 First St., SW, Rochester, MN, 55905, the American Cancer Society, or the charity of one's choice.

Margaret Woods
Margaret Woods, of 800 N. University Ave., Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, May 17, 2001, at her home.

The funeral is pending with the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Paul Morauske
FALL RIVER - Paul Morauske, 84, of 325 South St., Fall River, died on Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at the Columbus Center.

The funeral will be held on Friday, May 18, at 2:30 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus. The Revs. Gaylan Herr and Richard Habenicht will officiate. Burial will be in the Fall River cemetery.

Mr. Morauske was born on Dec. 19, 1916, in Follansbee, W.Va., the son of Stephen and Suzanne (Banfe) Morauske. He was married on Nov. 1, 1944, to Marjorie Tomlinson.

Mr. Morauske's family moved to Phillips in 1919, where he grew up and attended East Highland School. After finishing school, he helped his father on the farm and worked in logging camps in the winter. In 1936, he moved to the Poynette area where he worked as farm help in the summer and continued working logging camps in the winter. He worked for Del Monte from 1945 until his retirement in 1978.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Morauske, Fall River; three sons, Maynard (Diane) Morauske, and Ron (Nancy) Morauske, both of Fall River, and P. Duane (Phyllis) Morauske, Howards Grove; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Stephen (Leona) Morauske, Warren, Mich.; three sisters, Helen Sopha, Phillips, Mary Olson, Rio, and Julie Thiede, Columbus; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Andrew, George, Joseph, and William, and one sister, Suzanne Jensen.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 17, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus.

Kenneth L. Caves
MAYVILLE - Kenneth L. Caves, 77, of 365 1/2 Park St., Mayville, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 18, at 2 p.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mayville. The Rev. Charles Wester will officiate. Burial will be in Westfield cemetery.

Mr. Caves was born on Feb. 11, 1924, in Westfield, the son of Cela and Mary (Ogle) Caves. He was married on Jan. 15, 1947, to Dorothy Vogel in Westfield.

Mr. Caves was a 1942 graduate of Westfield High School. He farmed in the Westfield area, ran a service station in Westfield, worked in construction in the Madison area, owned and operated the Mayville Liquor Store and was employed at MEC, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mayville.

Survivors include one son, David Caves, Westfield; one daughter, Marsha (Ron) Henkel, Mayville; one daughter-in-law, Romaine Connor, Eden; special friend, Gracie Tarr, Mayville; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Keith Caves; one niece, Marlene Gartland, and one son, Bob Caves.

Friends may call on Friday, May 18, from noon until the time of service at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mayville.

A special thank you is extended to Hospice Home of Hope volunteers and staff.

Verona E. Oehl
HORICON - Verona E. Oehl, 92, of Horicon, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

The funeral will be held on Friday, May 18, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon. The Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery, Horicon.

Mrs. Oehl was born on April 22, 1909, in the town of Williamstown, the daughter of Paul and Martha (Brandt) Callies. She was married on Nov. 6, 1927, to Hugo Oehl in Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Oehl was a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon, and a past member of the Ladies Aid. She farmed with her husband in rural Horicon for many years, and upon their retirement they moved to Horicon. She then owned and operated Oehl Gift Shop on Valley Street for 20 years.

Survivors include one sister, Alice Zuehlke, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugo, and two sisters, Linda Guenther and Norma White.

Friends may call on Friday, May 18, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Memorials may be made to the St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church building fund.

May R. Nefzer
WATERTOWN - May Rose Nefzer, 69, of 201 N. Water St., Watertown, died on Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital, Milwaukee.

The funeral will be held on Friday, May 18, at 1 p.m., at Christ United Methodist Church, Watertown. The Rev. Barbara Berg will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Nefzer was born on May 4, 1932, in the town of Summit, the daughter of Arthur and Rosie (Groose) Janke. She was married to Lester J. Seibert and later to George Nefzer.

Mrs. Nefzer was a nurses aid for 15 years. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Beaver Dam, a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Watertown, and a member of AARP. She was a volunteer at the Beaver Dam Care Center and at Beverly Terrace.

Survivors include three sons, John (Karen) Seibert, Watertown, Donald (Jill) Seibert, Oconomowoc, and Darvin (Carole) Seibert, Watertown; one daughter, Pamela (Paul) LaGalbo, town of Ottawa; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and both husbands, Lester Seibert and George Nefzer.

Friends may call on Friday, May 18, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at Christ United Methodist Church, Watertown.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.
