Ted L. Brodesser
FOX LAKE - Ted L. Brodesser, 88, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at the Continental Manor Nursing Home, Randolph.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, May 31, at 11 a.m., at the Annunciation Parish Church, Fox Lake. The Rev. Michael Wild will officiate. Burial will be in Annunciation Parish cemetery, town of Trenton.

Mr. Brodesser was born on Sept. 28, 1912, in Fox Lake, the son of John C. and Lydia (Ziegler) Brodesser. He was married on May 28, 1938, to Madelyn Newman at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Brodesser was a 1931 graduate of Fox Lake High School, and continued his education through business school in Fond du Lac. He and his wife owned and operated the Indian Point Resort on Fox Lake for 30 years. In 1973 they both retired and moved to the city of Fox Lake, where he has resided since. He was a member of the Annunciation Parish, Fox Lake, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He especially cherished the time he spent with his great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and mourned by family and friends.

Survivors include one son, Jim Brodesser, Stickney, Ill.; one daughter, Mary Ann (Jerry) Novenski, Watertown; three grandchildren, Mary Jo (Dan) Olejniczak, Jennifer (Ron) Jaeger, and Margaret (Dave) Eichstaedt; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Madelyn, on May 5, 1999; three sisters, Mary Ann Terrace, Bernice Johnson, and Gretchen Johnson, and two brothers, Louis Brodesser, and John, in infancy.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 31, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Annunciation Parish Church, Fox Lake.

The Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake, is serving the family.

Margaret M. Pfeffer
COLUMBUS - Margaret M. Pfeffer, 58, of Columbus, died on Sunday, May 27, 2001, at UW-Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Friday, June 1, at 11 a.m., at the Annunciation Chapel, Lost Lake. The Rev. Michael L. Wild will officiate. Burial will be in the Annunciation cemetery, Lost Lake.

Mrs. Pfeffer was born on Oct. 14, 1942, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of John and Hattie (Werner) Hoppa. She was married on Sept. 27, 1986, to George Pfeffer in Lost Lake.

Mrs. Pfeffer worked at Beaver Dam Products for eight years and also at Country Kitchen in Columbus. She loved her grandchildren and always had a small gift for them when they came to visit. She collected dolls and household type figurines.

Survivors include her husband, George Pfeffer, Columbus; seven step-children, Cindy Pfeffer, Cottage Grove, George (Marcia) Pfeffer Jr., Waupun, Steven (Rhonda) Pfeffer, DeForest, Jerome (Terri) Pfeffer, Madison, Dale (JoAnn) Pfeffer, Randolph, John (Tina) Pfeffer, Hortonville, and Jan Marie (Randy) Miller, DeForest; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Wagner, Baraboo, Ellen (James) McDonald, Randolph, Rose (Dick) Ness, Green Valley, Ariz., and Betty Novenski, Baraboo; two brothers, John (JoAnn) Hoppa, Beaver Dam, and Leo (Irma) Hoppa, Greenfield; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one granddaughter, Hope Pfeffer.

Friends may call on Friday, June 1, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Annunciation Chapel, Lost Lake.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Rupert H. Trapp
COLUMBUS - Rupert H. Trapp, 81, of rural Columbus, died on Thursday, May 30, 2001, surrounded by his family at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, June 2, 10 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, East Bristol. The Rev. Gary Wankerl will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery, East Bristol.

Mr. Trapp was born on Feb. 28, 1920, in the town of Hampden, the son of Louis and Christina (Freidel) Trapp. He was married on June 8, 1948, to Irene Latsch at St. Bernards Catholic Church, Madison.

Mr. Trapp farmed his entire life on the homestead that has been held by the Trapps since 1861. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, East Bristol.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Trapp, Columbus; nine children, Christine (Bill) Fietzer, Minneapolis, Peter (Threasa Skinner) Trapp, Backus, Minn., William (Debbie) Trapp, Sheridan, Wyo., Robert (Pat) Trapp, Ann (Chris) Plata, and Paul (Bobbie Jo Manke) Trapp, all of Columbus, Jerome (Melodie Whitley) Trap, and Mary (Richie) Karow, both of Fall River, Loretta Trapp, DeForest; seven grandchildren; one brother, Willis Trapp, Columbus; two sisters, Lucetta Hall, Rio, and Veronica Helwig, Sun Prairie; nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Florence Fredrick.

Friends may call on Friday, June 1, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., at the Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus, and on Saturday, June 2, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, East Bristol.

Memorials may be made to Hillside Hospice Program or St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Clarence E. Garlow
HANCOCK - Clarence E. Garlow, 85, of Hancock, formerly of Fox Lake, died on Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at the home of his son in Hancock.

The funeral will be held on Friday, June 1, at 11 a.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake. The Rev. Julie WaterDu will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park, Fox Lake.

Mr. Garlow was born on Oct. 18, 1915, the son of Edward and Bertha (Rupnow) Garlow. He was married on Nov. 27, 1935, to Elda Bischoff in Beaver Dam.

Mr. Garlow lived in Fox Lake all his adult life until the past year, when due to ill health, he lived with his son and daughter-in-law in Hancock. He was employed with the Porter Feed Mill, Fox Lake, for 35 years. He retired at the age of 65 and continued to keep busy with lawn mowing jobs. He will always be remembered as a loving and caring man who took care of his friends and neighbors in their time of need. He will be sadly missed and mourned by friends and family.

Survivors include one son, Edward (Pearle Schrank) Garlow, Hancock; five grandchildren, Robert Garlow, Hancock, Amy Lackey and Milissa (Lynn) Adams, both of Fond du Lac, Tracy Wiese, Fox Lake, and Mark (Michelle) Garlow, Hancock; four step-grandchildren, Monica (Marty) Mendoza, Wichita, Kan., Scott Schrank and Alan Schrank, both of Neshkora, and Dawn Bronkhorst, Waupun; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Alfred Garlow, Hancock; one sister, Elsie Bischoff, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elda, on April 15, 1985; two sons, Allen and Ronald, and two brothers, Henry and Walter.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake, and on Friday, June 1, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Kristina E. Arthur
Kristina "Kristi" Elizabeth Arthur, 11, of Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at UW-Children's Hospital, Madison.

A private family service will be held at the New Hope Ministry Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Hohnberger will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Kristina Arthur was born on May 29, 1990, in Seminole, Fla., the daughter of James Arthur and Jamie E. (MacDonald) Johnson.

Kristina Arthur was a fifth grade student at Jefferson Elementary School, Beaver Dam. She was very faithful to her church, New Hope Ministry. She was known for her manicuring and enjoyed riding her horse, Belle.

Survivors include her mother, Jamie E. Johnson, Beaver Dam; her father, James Arthur, Illinois; two brothers, Jeffery Arthur and Cameron Johnson, both of Beaver Dam; one sister, Kaitlyn Arthur, Beaver Dam; maternal grandparents, Bill (Jean) MacDonald, Beaver Dam; paternal grandparents, Frank (Sandy) Arthur, Largo, Fla.; maternal great-grandparents, Don (Agnes) MacDonald, Fox Lake; eight aunts, Leah, Faith, Serena, Tameika, Anna-Mae and Judy MacDonald, Liz Jones and Adrian Arthur; six uncles, Greg, Matt, William MacDonald, Dave Mantych, Charlie Arthur and Mike Jones; all her friends at Jefferson Elementary School; special friends, the UW-Children's Hospital staff; cousins, and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by one uncle, Jeffery MacDonald; paternal great-grandparents, and many of her special friends at UW-Children's Hospital.

Friends may call on Friday, June 1, from 3 to 8 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Memorials are appreciated to the family. Kristi's wish was that everyone dress casual. No one is to wear black.

Olive L. Duer
WAUPUN - Olive L. Duer, 91, of Waupun, died on Tuesday, May 29, 2001, due to an illness.

The funeral will be held on Friday, June 1, at 2 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. Michael Bausch will officiate. Burial will be in Cattaraugus cemetery, Waupun.

Mrs. Duer was born on Feb. 21, 1910, in Menasha, the daughter of William and Laura (Hering) Robinson. She was married on March 10, 1928, to Ernie M. Duer in Menasha.

Mrs. Duer and her husband spent most of their married lives in Waupun. She spent 39 years working for the Weyenberg Show Factory in Waupun. She loved to fish and grow roses.

Survivors include grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; one brother, George Robinson, Bradenton, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Carol Duer, Oshkosh; one sister-in-law, Darlene Robinson, Cayman Islands; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie M. Duer; two sons, Ernie "Doc" Duer, and Henry "Hymie" Duer; two brothers; two sisters; one grandson, and two great-grandsons.

Friends may call on Friday, June 1, from noon until the time of service at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun.

Clara L. Olson
COLUMBUS - Clara Lorraine Olson, 79, of the Columbus Care Center, died on Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at the center.

Private family services will be held at the Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus.

Mrs. Olson was born on Nov. 15, 1921, in Powers Lake, N.D., the daughter of Andrew and Anna Holman. She was married to Howard Olson in Cutbank, Mont.

Mrs. Olson was a homemaker who loved baking. She moved from Montana to Columbus in 1993.

Survivors include one son, Ron (Marie) Olson, Great Falls, Mont.; two daughters, Pat (Terry) Moore, Sun Prairie, and Cindy (Dan) Houghton, Vancouver, Wash.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard, in 2000; two brothers, Joseph and Art; five sisters, Amy Bredding, Alma White, Anna Holman, Bertha Norberg, and Lottie Holman.

The Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus, is serving the family.

James E. Adams
HARTLAND - James "Jamie" E. Adams, 41, of Hartland, died on Friday, May 25, 2001, in Waukesha County.

A private family service was held.

Mr. Adams was born on Oct. 8, 1959, in Kenosha, the son of Norbert and Lori (Fischbach) Adams.

Mr. Adams owned and operated Hydrodynamics Racing. He was masterful at building high performance marine engines and marine engine parts. He also loved the outdoors and protected the wildlife. His love of hunting, fishing and waterskiing allowed many opportunities for him to teach respect and reverence for nature and environmental issues which his nephews and niece will always hold dear.

Survivors include his parents, Norbert and Lori Adams, Marco Island, Fla.; one brother, Michael (Susan) Adams, Wausau; one sister, Laureen (Mark) Leiser, Beaver Dam; his life partner, Debbie Thurow, Hartland; two uncles, Ed (Joan) Adams, West Bend, and Adam Adams, Williams Bay; two aunts, LaVerne Hagen and Arlene (Robert) Young, both of Kenosha; two nephews, Andy and Kenny Leiser , both of Beaver Dam; one niece, Erin Adams, Wausau; his two "girls," Val and Phoenix; relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Memorials may be made to Ducks Unlimited, 1 Waterfowl Way, Memphis, TN 38120, or your local chapter of Ducks Unlimited, or your local chapter of Pheasants Forever.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, served the family.

Curtis L. Wylesky
Curtis Lee Wylesky, 42, of W9800 Highway G, Beaver Dam, died on Monday, April 23, 2001.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, June 3, at 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Paul Lindau will officiate. Burial will be on Monday, June 4, at 10 a.m., in the Leipsig cemetery.

Mr. Wylesky was born on June 2, 1958, in Beaver Dam, the son of Lawrence and Beverly (Boehm) Wylesky Sr.

Mr. Wylesky was a self-employed contractor. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman.

Survivors include one son, Christopher (fiancee Theresa Stofflet) Wylesky, Beaver Dam; one grandson, Blake Wylesky, Beaver Dam; mother, Beverly Wylesky, Beaver Dam; three brothers, Lawrence (Jeanette) Wylesky Jr., Fond du Lac, Steven Wylesky and Garry (Julie Freber) Wylesky, both of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Wylesky Sr.

Friends may call on Sunday, June 3, from 5 p.m. until the time of service at the Koepsell Funeral Home Beaver Dam. Memorials may be made to the family.

Raymond M. Alsum
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Raymond M. Alsum, 82, a resident of Luther Home for the past two years, died on Wednesday, May 25, 2001, at the home.

The funeral was held on Monday, May 28, at 2:30 p.m., at the Raybrook Manor Chapel. The Rev. James Carlson officiated. Burial was in Washington Park cemetery.

Mr. Alsum contracted polio at the age of nine months, resulting in seriously injured legs. Hence, he was never able to take a normal step during his long lifetime. In 1948 he moved to Grand Rapids, Mich., and courageously maintained himself all during his adult years. He had a colorful personality, a unique sense of humor, and meant a lot to his family because of his grit and determination to do everything he could for himself.

Survivors include two brothers, William Alsum, Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Gordon (Trudy) Alsum, Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Jeanette (William) Doezema, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Theresa Westra, Waupun; 21 nieces and nephews; relatives and friends.

Friends called on Sunday, May 27, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the DeVries Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo, SE, Kentwood, and on Monday, May 28, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service at Raybrook Chapel.

Janet L. Zeman
Janet L. Zeman, 57, of Beaver Dam, died on Friday, June 1, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 5, at 1 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. John Burgbacher will officiate. Cremation will take place.

Ms. Zeman was born on Sept. 28, 1943, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Willard and Ruth (Baker) Loew.

Ms. Zeman was a 1961 graduate of Washington High School, Milwaukee. She was employed with Deacon Hospital as a receptionist, then at Zita's Dress Shop, Milwaukee, for over 17 years. She worked at her parents restaurant, Loew's, in Milwaukee, for many years. She held various jobs in the Beaver Dam area for the last few years.

Survivors include her mother, Ruth Loew, Beaver Dam; one brother, Larry Loew, Beaver Dam; one sister, Judith Beck, Marinette; special friends, Bob Wolf, Milwaukee, and Kay Gottsacker, Beaver Dam; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Willard, on Feb. 19, 1996.

Friends may call on Tuesday, June 5, from noon until the time of service, at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.
