Ernie Bearder
Ernie Bearder, 72, of 1004 W. Burnett St., Beaver Dam, died on Monday, June 18, 2001, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, June 21, at 11 a.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Eileen Kuehnl will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post No. 146.

Mr. Bearder was born on June 11, 1929, in Beaver Dam, the son of Lester and Susan (Taylor) Bearder. He was married on Oct. 16, 1954, to Marlene R. Bradley in Randolph.

Mr. Bearder was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He was employed with the Beaver Dam Post Office for 27 years, retiring in 1991. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Beaver Dam American Legion Post No. 146, a member of Trinity Church United Methodist, and also served on the police and fire commission for many years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler. He also enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherri Bearder, Madison, and Leesa Bearder, Cudahy; three sisters, Betty (Budd) Knoll, Beaver Dam, Maryann (Dwight) DeSalva, Green Bay, and Susan Bearder, El Cajon, Calif.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his angels, Judi and Jennifer Rhodes; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Marlene, in 1993.

Friends may call on Wednesday, June 20, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Thursday, June 21, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Karen A. Allen
FORT ATKINSON - Karen Ann Allen, 60, of 27 Rogers St., Fort Atkinson, formerly of Watertown, died on Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 23, at 11:30 a.m., at Lutheran cemetery, Watertown. The Rev. Carol McDonald will officiate.

Mrs. Allen was born on Feb. 2, 1941, the daughter of Ben and Gertrude (Vivoda) Kreuziger. She was married on Sept. 10, 1960, to Donald Allen at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clyman.

Mrs. Allen had been employed at Johnson Controls and Lindberg in Watertown as an assembler. She attended St. John's Lutheran Church, Watertown.

Survivors include one son, Jeffrey Allen, Kansas City, Mo.; five sisters, Marion (Paul) Seiler, Beaver Dam, Dorothy (Aubrey) Weber, Johnson Creek, Barbara (Rodney) Kohn, Fort Atkinson, Geraldine (Kenneth) Schumann, Crandon, and Donna (Kenneth) Franz, Watertown; five brothers, Raymond (Kathleen) Kreuziger and Donald "Gus" (Shirley) Kreuziger, both of Horicon, Earl (Diane) Kreuziger, Lodi, Steven Kreuziger, Lowell, and Francis Kreuziger, Huntingdon, Tenn.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald, on Dec. 6, 1972; one sister in infancy, Sylvia Jean, and three brothers, Robbie, Kenneth and Paul.

Friends may call on Saturday, June 23, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Christ United Methodist Church, 112 Hall St., Watertown.

The Hafemeister Funeral Home, Watertown, is serving the family.

Russell Nesbitt
FOX LAKE - Russell Nesbitt, 91, of Fox Lake, died on Sunday, June 17, 2001, at the Barrett House, Fox Lake.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 23, at 2 p.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake. The Rev. Sylvia Williams will officiate. Cremation will take place.

Mr. Nesbitt was born on July 31, 1909, in Champaign, Ill., the son of Lucien and Christine (Barker) Nesbitt. He was married on June 5, 1950, to Doris Alyce Turner in Chicago.

Mr. Nesbitt graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelors degree in physics and was employed with the Social Security Administration as a claims agent. Following retirement in 1985, the couple moved to White Plains, N.Y. to be near their children. In the summer of 1994, they moved to Fox Lake where they resided on Weed Street until moving to the Barrett House, being the first residents there. He will be sadly missed and mourned by family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay Logan, New York, N.Y., and Karen Maxwell, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Asha And Allison; three brothers, George Nesbitt, Evanston, Ill., Dr. Lender (Peggy) Nesbitt, Fox Lake, and Dr. Robert (Marilyn) Nesbitt, Afadena, Calif.; his dear friends at the Barrett House, Fox Lake, and many relatives .

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Doris, on March 20, 1996, and one brother, Rozelle Nesbitt.

Friends may call on Saturday, June 23, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake.

Harold A. Schwarze
MAYVILLE - Harold A. Schwarze, 90, of 108 Henninger St., Mayville, died on Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac. He died peacefully after a long and healthy life.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Geoffrey Hoy will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Mayville.

Mr. Schwarze was born on Jan. 11, 1911, in the town of Williamstown, the son of Herman and Martha (Grefunder) Schwarze. He was married on Nov. 9, 1935, to Violet Ost in Waukegan, Ill.

Mr. Schwarze was a 1929 graduate of Mayville High School. He was employed with Shoe Manufacturing Industries. He later retired from the State of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture. He was a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville, and a charter member of Horicon Marsh Bowmen. He enjoyed family, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include two sons, Ron (JoAnne) Schwarze, Montello, and Donn (Karen) Schwarze, Wisconsin Rapids; one half-brother, Robert Schwarze; one sister-in-law, Helen Ost, Oakfield; four grandchildren Michelle (Phillip) Branham, Stevens Point, Stephanie (Anthony) Doll, and Michael (Aime) Schwarze, both of Fond du Lac, and Craig Schwarze, Wisconsin Rapids; three great-grandchildren, Eric and Allison Doll, and Lauryn Branham; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Violet, in 1976; three brothers; one sister, and one brother-in-law.

Friends may call on Saturday, June 23, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.

Thomas W. Williams
RIO - Thomas W. Williams, 63, of Rio, died on Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 23, at 11 a.m., at the Vangen Funeral Home, Rio. Burial will be in the Ohio cemetery, Rio.

Mr. Williams was born on Jan. 12, 1938, in Tomahawk, the son of Henry and Mary (Hess) Williams. He was married on Oct. 2, 1976, to Vicki Goodenough in Beloit.

Mr. Williams and his wife moved to the Rio area approximately 16 years ago. He worked as a hired hand for many farmers in the Rio area. Previous to that he worked in construction. He enjoyed most being with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Williams, Rio; two sons, James and Samuel Williams, both of Rio; one daughter, Tammy, at home; three brothers, Hank (Carol) Williams, Tomahawk, Fritz (Freda) Williams, Janesville, and Bob Williams, Texas; three sisters, Rose, Marge and Violet; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Richard, Lloyd and Clinton.

Friends may call on Saturday, June 23, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Vangen Funeral Home, Rio.

Richard W. Luey
RIO - Richard W. Luey, 76, of 500 Ronald Lee Circle, died on Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at UW Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 26, at 11 a.m., at the Olivet Congregational UCC, Columbus. The Revs. Denise J. Cole and Susan Schneider-Adams will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.

Mr. Luey was born on April 21, 1925, in Columbus, the son of Oliver and Adelaide (Dathan) Luey. He was married on March 4, 1950, to Joan Atkinson in Bay View.

Mr. Luey was a 1942 graduate of Columbus High School, the UW Farm Short Course and attended Madison Vocational and Technical College. He was an engineering technician for the State of Wisconsin Division of Highways for 29 years, retiring in 1988. He was a lifelong member of the Olivet Congregational UCC, Columbus, where he served as deacon and usher. He also served on the Diaconite Board and the Board of Trustees for the church. He was a 10 year Cub Scout leader for Pack 99 and the Yahara district. He was a former member of the Madison Rose Society and the American Rose Society, winning many awards. He lived in Mission Texas from 1990 to 1999, where he was a member of the First Christian Church, serving as deacon, co-chairing the Diaconite Board, and the membership and evangelism departments. He helped with the Sharyland School H.O.S.T.S. program in Mission, Texas. He was also a Master Mason and 32nd degree Mason at the Columbus Lodge F & AM No. 75. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Club, Mission Chapter No. 527 Order of the Eastern Star, and was a charter member of El Wadi Grotto, serving as treasurer.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Luey, Rio; three sons, James (Rhonda) Luey, St. Helens, Ore., Tom (Patty) Luey, Wausau, and Tim (Karen) Luey, Columbus; two daughters, Mary (Jeff) Gronholz, Watertown, and Nancy (Randy) Duerst, Rio, 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends..

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Richard Luey II; one brother, Roger Luey, and two sisters, Marjorie Davis and Phylis Luey.

Friends may call on Monday, June 25, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic service at 8 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, and on Tuesday, June 26, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the Olivet Congregational UCC, Columbus.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Olivet Congregational UCC, Columbus.

Evelyn B. Nelson
FORT ATKINSON - Evelyn B. Nelson, 93, formerly of Brandon/Waupun, died on Friday, June 22, 2001, in Fort Atkinson.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 25, at 11 a.m., at the Brandon cemetery, Brandon. The Rev. Gena Garton will officiate.

Mrs. Nelson was born July 2, 1907, in Brandon, the daughter of John A. and Ella (Bruins) Beyers. She was married on Nov. 12, 1937, to Fred C. Nelson in Madison.

She graduated from Waupun High School in 1926, attended Madison Business College and worked in Madison. She was a member of the Brandon United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Star, Waupun, and served as Worthy Matron in 1951 and 1952.

Survivors include three nieces, Ellen S. Perry, Waterloo, Beth (Frank) Twiss, Green Valley, Ariz., and Bonnie (Calvin) Bruins, Scottsdale, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and two brothers.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Brandon.

Evelyn M. Peterson
WATERTOWN - Evelyn M. Peterson, 75, of 1141 Hus Drive, Watertown, died on Friday, June 22, 2001, at Watertown Memorial Hospital following a lingering illness.

The funeral will be held on Monday, June 25, at 7 p.m., at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown. The Rev. James Werner will officiate. Burial will be Tuesday, June 26, at 9 a.m., in the Immanuel Lutheran cemetery, Lebanon.

Mrs. Peterson was born on June 22, 1926, in Juneau, the daughter of Edward and Lenora (Schultz) Dummer. She was married to Elmer Groehler and then on Dec. 15, 1979, she married Daniel Peterson at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown.

Mrs. Peterson was employed at Johnson Controls for many years and was recently employed at Far Horizons, Watertown. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and a member of the Wethonkitha Club Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo. Evelyn was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel Peterson; one daughter, June Groehler, Madison; two sons, Jerald (Carmen) Groehler, Watertown, and James (Debbie Bohlman) Groehler, Watertown; one sister, Eloise Frazier, Bonney Lake, Wash.; three step-daughters, Nancy (Erv) Wiedenhoeft, Rogers, Ark., Sue (Ehrling "Skip") Jackson, Madison, and Beth (Doug) Beckett, Watertown; one step-son, Richard (Kate) Peterson, Watertown; five grandchildren, Jacalyn Groehler, Leanne Groehler, Lynley Groehler, Lilly Lueck and Danielle Lueck; seven step-grandchildren, Stephanie Beckett, Lynsy Beckett, Kim Cooper, Rob Wiedenhoeft, Gregory Jackson, Jeff Peterson and Jamie Peterson; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Donald Dummer, Edward Dummer, Clifford Dummer, Marvin Dummer, Neal Dummer and Victor Dummer; one son, Ronald; one daughter, Joyce, and one daughter in infancy.

Friends may call on Monday, June 25, from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown or the charity of one's choice.

James R. Mueller
IRON RIDGE - James Robert Mueller, 51, of 118 East Ave., Iron Ridge, died on Saturday, June 23, 2001, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 26, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jackson. The Rev. Quintin Schowalter will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Jackson.

Mr. Mueller was born on April 23, 1950, in Milwaukee, the son of Matthew and Lorraine (Nuburg) Mueller. He was married on April 4, 1987, to Debra Gregovich at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jackson.

Mr. Mueller was a 1969 graduate of Menomonee Falls High School. He was employed with Steel Craft, Hartford, in the maintenance department. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Mueller, Iron Ridge; one daughter, Jamie (Mike) Hamlin, Jackson; one son, Gregory (Lisa) Mueller, Jackson; his mother, Lorraine A. Mueller, Germantown; one brother, Ronald (Jackie) Mueller, Allenton; three sisters, Diane (Dennis) Zimmer, Minocqua, Janice (Gilly) Gillingham, Richland Center, and Roseann (Alan) Volk, Menomonee Falls; father and mother-in-law, Tony and Shirley Gregovich, Menomonee Falls; five grandchildren, Tyler and Abby Hamlin, and Katelyn, Jessica and Megan Mueller; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Mueller; one brother in infancy, Anthony; one sister-in-law, and one brother-in-law.

Victor D. Rohn
COLUMBUS - Victor D. "Custer" Rohn, 52, of 195 Fuller St., Columbus, died on Saturday, June 23, 2001, at his home after a long illness.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, at 6:30 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus. Mr. Tom Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.

Mr. Rohn was born on Aug. 31, 1948, in Beaver Dam, the son of Donald and Frances (Schiradelly) Rohn. He was married on June 21, 1969, to Kathleen Czaplewski in Beaver Dam.

Mr. Rohn was employed at Goodwill Industries, Milwaukee, UW-Madison, as a maintenance mechanic and for Hughes Company, Columbus. He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Rohn, Columbus; two children, Tina L. Rohn and Clinton (Tina J.) Rohn, both of Columbus; three grandchildren; four brothers, Wayne and Roy, both of Beaver Dam, Daniel and Richard, both of Columbus; six sisters, Lucy (Lee) Klokow, Florida, Sandra Rohn, Madison, Judy Dolay, Beaver Dam, Bonnie Rohn, Michigan, Luann (David) Grigel, Columbus, and Crystal Rohn, Madison; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Sheila Rohn.

There will be no visitation.

The Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, is serving the family.
