Margarite Hein
FOX LAKE - Margarite Hein, 87, of Fox Lake, died on Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 30, at 11 a.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fox Lake. The Rev. David Nottling will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial cemetery, Fox Lake.

Mrs. Hein was born on Aug. 22, 1913, the eldest of seven children, to Hugo and Lily (Krentz) Zick. She was married on March 24, 1934, to Leonard Hein at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church Parsonage, Markesan. The Rev. Kobs officiated.

Mrs. Hein attended the Markesan school system and worked at various housekeeping jobs to help with family expenses. Following her marriage, the couple moved to Pickett, then to Friesland, where they assisted area farmers. They then moved on to a farm in rural Cambria followed by a farm in the township of Mackford, where they resided for 20 years. They moved to the city of Fox Lake in 1973. Due to ill health, Margarite became a resident at Continental Manor, Randolph, in January of 1999, where she was recently awarded the "Resident of the Month." She was a devoted member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fox Lake, and its Ladies Aid, for which she served on numerous committees. She also loved gardening, fishing, especially ice fishing, and crocheting. She will be sadly missed and mourned by family and friends.

Survivors include brothers and sisters, Marion (Robert) Wallendal, Waupun, Wilton (Angeline) Zick, Waupun, Carlton (Caroleen) Zick, Randolph, Ruth Metevia, Red Granite, Catherine Leichtnam, Oshkosh, and Caroline Clinton, Sault Sainte Marie, Mich.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard, on Oct. 13, 1982, and three brothers-in-law.

Friends may call on Saturday, June 30, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fox Lake.

The Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake, is serving the family.

William J. Fuerstenau Sr.
FALL RIVER - William J. Fuerstenau Sr., 75, of N6927, Highway 73, Fall River, died on Thursday, June 28, 2001, at Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 30, at 11 a.m., at Randolph Community Funeral Home. Burial will be in Wander's Rest cemetery, town of Calamus.

Mr. Fuerstenau was born on April 9, 1926, in Dodge County, the son of Herman and Jennie (Jenkins) Fuerstenau. He was married on Nov. 16, 1963, to Lila June Stricker.

Mr. Fuerstenau was a 1943 graduate of Fall River High School. He was a lifelong resident of the Lost Lake area where he farmed most of his life. He was also a DeKalb seed corn dealer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and collecting stamps and coins.

Survivors include his loving children, William J. Fuerstenau Jr., Jefferson, Jennifer L. Fuerstenau, Fall River, Jeffery H. Fuerstenau and Kellie Fuerstenau, both of Randolph, and Malinda K. Fuerstenau, Lori E. Fuerstenau and Carl B. Fuerstenau, all of Fall River; one granddaughter, Kayla A. Fuerstenau, Randolph; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila, on Nov. 6, 1993, and his parents.

Friends may call on Saturday, June 30, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Randolph Community Funeral Home.

Elizabeth J. Parratt
FOND DU LAC Elizabeth J. Parratt, 92, formerly of Oakfield, died on Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at All About Life Health Care Center, Fond du Lac.

A memorial graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 5, at 1 p.m., at the Mount Pleasant cemetery, township of Oakfield. The cemetery is located on Kinwood Road, just west of Highway Y.
The Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, is serving the family.

Lori L. Snyder
BROOMFIELD, Colo. Lori Lynn Snyder, 43, of Broomfield, Colo., died on Saturday, June 30, 2001.

The funeral will be held at the Rundus Funeral Home, Broomfield, Colo.

Mrs. Snyder was born on Feb. 9, 1958, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Ellsworth and Lois (Keller) Root.

Survivors include her husband, John Snyder, Broomfield, Colo.; four children, Stacy (Eric) Chermak, Sacramento, Calif., Tracy (Brian) Baldus, Beaver Dam, and Brian and Hope Evans, both of Broomfield, Colo.; her parents, Les and Lois Cornell, Lowell; two brothers, Greg (JoAnn) Root, Oxnard, Calif., and Craig (Amy) Root, Beaver Dam; two sisters, Jill Wagner, Juneau, and Dawn (John) Lunde, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ellsworth Root.

Edna E. Lechner
Edna E. Lechner, 90, of Beaver Dam, died on Monday, July 2, 2001, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, July 5, at 1 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Lindner will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Lechner was born on March 30, 1911, in Horicon, the daughter of JFK and Caroline (Jung) Oberdiek. She was married on Feb. 5, 1936, to Dr. O.M. Lechner in Horicon.

Mrs. Lechner was a graduate of Horicon High School. She worked as a cashier at her brother's IGA grocery store in Horicon and also as a receptionist at her husband's podiatry office in Beaver Dam. She was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, and had been a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Survivors include one daughter, Carol Lechner, Beaver Dam; one sister-in-law, Lorelda Lechner, Mayville; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and three brothers, Martin, Walter and Herbert Oberdiek.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 5, from noon until the time of service at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Walter W. Radant
LAKE TOMAHAWK - Walter W. Radant, 92, of Lake Tomahawk, died on Monday, July 2, 2001, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Friday, July 6, at 2 p.m., at the Bolger Funeral Home Chapel, Minocqua. The Rev. Walter Geist will officiate. Burial will be held on Saturday, July 7, at 1 p.m., at Highland Memory Gardens cemetery, town of Beaver Dam.

Mr. Radant was born on Jan. 2, 1909, the son of August and Martha (McIlveen) Radant.

Mr. Radant was a corporal in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Lucille, Lake Tomahawk; children, Elaine Ault, Woodruff, Leonard (Kay) Shaker, Beaver Dam, and Steven (Diane) Shaker Woodruff; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Ervin Radant, Lowell; and one sister, Della Kersten, Juneau.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, Dana and Arthur.

Friends may call on Friday, July 6, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the Bolger Funeral Home Chapel, Minocqua.

Memorials may be made to the Dr. Kate Lakeland Hospice.

Louis J. Hartwig
IRON RIDGE - Louis J. Hartwig, 87, of 217 East St., Iron Ridge, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Friday, July 6, at 6 p.m., at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Iron Ridge. The Rev. Larry Mose will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthew's cemetery, Iron Ridge.

Mr. Hartwig was born on Sept. 14, 1913, in Browns Corner, the son of William and Freida (Reave) Hartwig. He was married on Oct. 26, 1940, to Victoria Redlin, at St. Matthew's Church, Iron Ridge.

Mr. Hartwig was employed with Maysteel Corporation as a welder. He was a member of St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Iron Ridge. He was an honorary member of Iron Ridge Fire Department. He held various church and school board positions.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Kenneth) Feucht, Horicon, and Luise (Gerald) Rosenthal, Kohlsville; two sons, Gerald (Gail) Hartwig, Horicon, and Oscar (Gale) Hartwig, Horicon; three brothers, Arlon (Sylvia) Hartwig, Wautoma, Arthur (Esther) Hartwig, Fox Lake, and Earl (Lauralee) Hartwig, Brownsville; one sister, Elfrieda Lehman, Wautoma; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Victoria in 1999; one sister, Phyllis Lau; three brothers, John, Clarence and Willie; and one daughter-in-law, JoAnn.

Friends may call on Friday, July 6, from 5 to 6 p.m., at St. Matthew's Church, Iron Ridge.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.

Wilma Zabel
RIPON - Wilma Zabel, 71, of 504 Russell Drive, Ripon, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Friday, July 6, at 11 a.m., at Waupun Assembly of God Church. The Revs. Jeff Casper and Don Dieke will officiate. Burial will be in Mackford Union cemetery, town of Mackford, Green Lake County.

Mrs. Zabel was born on Feb. 16, 1930, in the township of Waupun, the daughter of William and Minnie (Scheuers) Pater. She was married on Feb. 18, 1949, at Zion Lutheran Church, Fairwater, to Bernard Lyle Zabel.

Mrs. Zabel was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her passion in life was that all people would know Jesus. She had a love of gardening and enjoyed God's great outdoors. She was a giving person and was a faithful prayer warrior. She was a member of the Ripon Assembly of God, and a former member of the Waupun Assembly of God Church. She was formerly employed with the Waupun Memorial Hospital for 10 years in the housekeeping department.

Survivors include one son, Duane (Patricia) Zabel, Beaver Dam; five daughters, Kathleen Jenkins, Ripon, Diane Spiegler, Green Lake, Colleen (Tom) Guderski, Ripon, Lorna Jean (Richard) Wetzel, Ripon, SueEllen (Dennis) Leden, Fairwater; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Hendricks, Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard on July 2, 1990; her parents; one son, Verlynn Zabel on Aug. 5, 1996; three brothers and one sister.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Friday, July 6, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Hope of Fond du Lac.

Ione C. Derr

COLUMBUS - Ione C. Derr, 70, of 206 Avalon St., died on Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at her home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, July 9, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, East Bristol. The Rev. Gary Wankerl will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Derr was born on June 24, 1931, in Wisconsin Rapids, the daughter of Leo and Mary (Huser) Ruesch. She was married on June 19, 1954, in Wisconsin Rapids to Jerome C. Derr.

Mrs. Derr farmed with her husband in rural Columbus and was seasonally employed at Wisconsin Cheeseman in Sun Prairie; Jim's Cheese in Waterloo, and Brandon Co. in Columbus. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Bristol; a 50-year member of the Catholic Order of Forresters, and Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her husband, Jerome, Columbus; four daughters, Shirley Derr-Vaughan, Columbus, Patricia (Larry) Gumz, Rio, Diane (Daniel) Guenther, Columbus, and Lynn (fiance Dan Schultz) Derr, Columbus; one son, Duane Derr, Columbus; five grandchildren; 10 sisters and brothers, Leona Shirek, Junction City, James Ruesch, Freeport, La., Leonard (Agnes) Ruesch, Milladore, Mike (Aletta) Ruesch, Wauwatosa, Thomas (Vi) Ruesch, Vesper, Clem (LaVonne) Ruesch, Wisconsin Rapids and his twin sister, Sister Clara Mary Ruesch, Mt. Calvary, Tony (Muriel) Ruesch, Vesper, John (Mary) Ruesch, Wisconsin Rapids and Ione's twin sister, Inez (Don) Krohn, Port Edwards; mother-in-law, Laura Derr, Randolph; two sisters-in-law, Dorothea Ruesch and Marion Jesberger, both of Sun Prairie; one brother-in-law, Robert Derr, Madison; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Fredolin "Fritz" Ruesch.

Friends may call on Sunday, July 8, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, and on Monday, July 9, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Memorials may be made to Hillside Hospice, American Cancer Society, or the charity of one's choice.

Luetta E. Salzwedel
COLUMBUS - Luetta E. Salzwedel, 88, of Columbus, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at the Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 7, at 11 a.m., at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus. The Rev. Robert Wilke will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside cemetery, Columbus.

Mrs. Salzwedel was born on Nov. 30, 1912, in Arlington, the daughter of Fred and Lydia (Meyer) Kusrow. She was married on June 6, 1936, in Columbus, to Harold Salzwedel.

Mrs. Salzwedel graduated from Columbus High School, then Milwaukee Business College. She was a bookkeeper for her husband, Harold, for Sanitary Plumbing and Heating for many years. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, and this June celebrated 65 years of marriage. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Harold, Columbus; one daughter, Elizabeth (Curtis) Williams, Horicon, one son, Eugene (Suzanne) Salzwedel, Columbus; five grandchildren, Michael (Barbara) Williams, Plainfield, Ind., Steven (Staci) Williams, Horicon, Amy (fiance Dean Hopp) Williams, Waupun, Polly Salzwedel, Madison, and Andrew (fiancee Nina Hoene) Salzwedel, Stevens Point; six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Patrick, Tyler, Cassandra and Braden Williams and Mallory Uttech; two sisters, Anita Monthie, Columbus, and Alice Peterson, Pewaukee; three brothers-in-law, Walter Boese, Columbus, Gerhard Dahnert, Waukesha, and Myron Salzwedel, Beaver Dam; and one sister-in-law, Augusta Berndt, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Hildegard Boese and Adeline Dahnert; one brother, Arthur Kusrow, and one great-grandson, Ryan Williams.
Friends may call on Friday, July 6, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus, and on Saturday, July 7, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Zion Lutheran Church.

Hazel R. Fenske
MADISON - Hazel Rose Fenske, 85, of Madison, died early Saturday, June 30, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, July 3, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic, 5001 North Sherman Ave., Madison, with a visitation being held one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Roger Nilles officiated. Burial was in St. Patrick's cemetery, Doylestown.

She was born on Jan. 13, 1916, in Doylestown, the daughter of John E. and Sadie R. (Heleniak) Barnett. She was married in 1966, at St. Patrick's Church, Doylestown, to Donald H. Fenske

Mrs. Fenske attended Rio High School and one year at Columbia County Normal, Columbus. She worked in the accounting field for over 30 years in the Federal Government Service and also State Civil Service. She spent a year in Okinawa, Japan, as a federal government civil servant. She loved bowling and golf and was a member of the Cherokee Country Club for many years. She loved her two constant companions Rosie and Willie, her pugs. They were always near her, either on her lap, at her side in the chair, on the bed, or on the floor near her.

Survivors include her husband, Donald, Madison; one sister, Bridgetta Barnett, Madison; three nephews; one niece; and several grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and their wives.

The Ryan Funeral Home, Madison, served the family.
