Frances A. Becker
FOND DU LAC - Frances A. Becker, 93, formerly of Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, July 14, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. William Key will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery.

Mrs. Becker was born on Oct. 1, 1907, in Mayville, the daughter of Gerhard and Margarite (Jansen) Stommel. She was married on Nov. 27, 1929, to Roland Becker in Woodland.

Mrs. Becker lived in the Beaver Dam area for many years. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, where she served as an usher. She was also a member of the Catholic Women of St. Peter's

Survivors include four daughters, Corinne (Eugene) Schaefer, Lomira, Marie (Donald) Hammer, Edgerton, Elizabeth (Floyd) Rohde, Etowah, N.C., and Joyce (Richard) Ptaschinski, Sheboygan; one son, Gregory (Elaine) Becker, Red Wing, Minn.; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Gitter, Fond du Lac, and Agnes Mueller, Hartford; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death her parents; her husband, Roland, in 1990; two sisters, Marceline Gallitz and Lucinda Mueller, and two brothers, Gerhard Jr. and Anthony.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 14, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac.

Catherine B. Forsman
COLUMBUS - Catherine B. "Kay" Forsman, 88, of 938 Farnham St., Columbus, died on Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Columbus Community Hospital.

There will be no services. Burial will be in Lakewood cemetery, Minneapolis, Minn.

Mrs. Forsman was born on April 23, 1913, in Newark, N.J., the daughter of Arthur and Helen (MacIntosh) Barclay. She was married on Sept. 15, 1937, to Rudolph K. Forsman in Summit, N.J.

Survivors include relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph, and one daughter, Ann Bowden, in 1982.

The Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, is serving the family.

Irene J. Pashley
TOWN OF YORK - Irene J. Pashley, 84, of 7132 Highway 73, died on Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at her home.

A private family service will be held on Saturday, July 14, at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus.

Mrs. Pashley was born on Nov. 29, 1916, in the town of Medina, the daughter of Hector and Helena (DeNolf) Cromheecke. She was married on Jan. 20, 1943, to David D. Pashley in Mount Vernon, Ill.

Survivors include two sons, David R. (Marilyn) Pashley, Columbus, and Gary Pashley, Marshall; two grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Loughlin, DeKalb, Ill., and Marian Metzger, Columbus; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; two brothers, Rami and Maynard, and one sister, Maria Potenberg.

A luncheon reception will be held on Saturday, July 14, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Jerome School, Columbus, in the gymnasium

Darrel E. Steffen
REESEVILLE - Darrel E. Steffen, 64, of Reeseville, died on Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Watertown Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 14, at 2 p.m., at Murray Community Funeral Home, Reeseville. The Rev. Charles Brizius will officiate. Cremation has taken place.

Mr. Steffen was born on Sept. 7, 1936, in Portage, the son of Ervin and Arvelva (Hamer) Steffen. He was married on June 1, 1957, to Ruth Grimm at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Mr. Steffen was a 1954 graduate Cambria High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He lived in the Reeseville area for over 30 years. He owned and operated Steffen's Tap, Clyman, for over eight years. He then worked at Berlin Seating Co., Waupun, for over 10 years, and then worked as a tax accountant in the area for over 10 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Steffen, Reeseville; one daughter, Shirley (Mike) Rhode, Reeseville; one son, Timothy Steffen, Schofield; six grandchildren, April and Amy Rhode, and Brian, James, Joseph and Claire Steffen; mother and step-father, Arvelva "Dede" (Stephen) Flaherty, Dalton; one brother, Kerwin (Marilee) Steffen; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Erwin, in 1966; one daughter-in-law, Nila Steffen, in 1998, and one sister, Joyce Cragin, in 1994.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 14, from noon until the time of service at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Reeseville.

Carol A. Franke
MAYVILLE - Carol A. Franke, 78, of 305 S. Clark St., Mayville, died on Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 14, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon. The Rev. Daniel Seehafer will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthew's cemetery, Iron Ridge.

Mrs. Franke was born on Oct. 13, 1922, in Neosho, the daughter of George and Laura (Zimdars) Evans. She was married on May 29, 1946, to Lester Franke in Clinton, Iowa.

Mrs. Franke was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon, and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 10170, Mayville.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynn (John) Wrucke, Horicon, and Marsha (Has) Schwartzmiller, Kekoskee; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester, in 1981, and one son, Terry.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 14, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Phyllis L. Propst
Phyllis Louise Propst, 80, of N6796 Thompson Road, Beaver Dam, died on July 13, 2001, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

The funeral will be held on Monday, July 16, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Church-United Methodist, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Greg Jewison will officiate. Private family interment will take place.

Mrs. Propst was born on May 14, 1920, the daughter of Louis and Freida (Froehlick) Denzin, in Aberdeen, S.D. She was married on Oct. 6, 1940, to Erhardt Propst, in Waupun.

Mrs. Propst attended grade and high school in Aberdeen, S.D. She moved to Minnesota in 1936, where she attended the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and worked as a pathological technician at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., until her marriage . After their marriage, they move to West Concord, Minn, where her husband was employed at Carnation Milk Co. In 1943, they moved to Watertown and in 1946 they moved to Beaver Dam, where Phyllis, Erhardt and their family were business partners of Milk Producers Supply Co. and later the Christmas Tree Farm. She was a member of Trinity Church-United Methodist, serving as a state officer for United Methodist Women for many years. She was a clerk of school district No. 5. Her other interests were her many close friends she had made over the years and the welfare of her children. She was a devoted wife and mother of three. Despite her longtime affliction with asthma, she always maintained a very positive attitude.

Survivors include her husband, Erhardt, Beaver Dam children, Carl (Ramona) Propst, Sturgis, Mich., David (Laurie) Propst, Beaver Dam, and Mary Lou (Henry) Dikkeboom, Milton; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a twin brother, Kenneth Denzin.

Friends may call on Monday, July 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Trinity Church-United Methodist.

Melvin G. Eilbes
KEKOSKEE - Melvin G. Eilbes, 78, of 15 Forest St., Mayville (Kekoskee), died on Thursday, July 12, 2001, at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Sunday, July 15, at 4 p.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mayville. The Rev. Charles Wester will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrew's cemetery, LeRoy. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Mayville American Legion Post No. 69.

Mr. Eilbes was born on March 24, 1923, the son of Henry and Magdalena (Feucht) Eilbes, in LeRoy. He was married on Aug. 9, 1952, to Donna Henke, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, LeRoy.

Mr. Eilbes retired from Maysteel Corp. as a tool and die maker. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mayville. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a member of Mayville American Legion Post No. 69. He served the village of Kekoskee as treasurer since 1958. He was treasurer of the Kekoskee cemetery Association and former member of Kekoskee Fire Department. He was an avid sportsman.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, Kekoskee; one daughter, Sharon (Eric) Walk, McFarland two sons, Steven (Diane) Eilbes, Mayville, and Duane "Red" (Shelley) Eilbes, LeRoy; sisters and brothers, Grace Tarr, Mayville, Rosella DeGroot, Appleton, Colletta Smith, Watertown, Valerie Straub, Campbellsport, Robert (Mildred) Eilbes, Beaver Dam, Edward (Mary Ann) Eilbes, Brownsville, Jerome (Patricia) Eilbes, Brownsville; three sisters-in-law, Betty Eilbes, Beaver Dam, Shirley Eckes, Horicon, and Madlyn Eilbes, Mayville; four grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca, Renee and Jonathon; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Daniel; one infant daughter; one granddaughter, Katherine; one sister, Armella; four brothers, Roman, Alvin, Ambrose and Richard.

Friends may call on Sunday, July 15, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services, at St. Mary's Church, Mayville.

Esther E. Beilke
MARKESAN - Esther E. Beilke, 101, of Markesan, formerly of Waupun, died on Thursday, July 12, 2001, at the Markesan Residents Home, Markesan.

The funeral will be held on Monday, July 16, at 11 a.m., at Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun. The Rev. Kenneth Spence will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairwater cemetery.

Ms. Beilke was born on Jan. 12, 1899, the daughter of Herman and Wihelmina (Weckwerth) Beilke, in Fond du Lac County.

Ms. Beilke was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon. She graduated from Fairwater Grade School and at age 16 went to work as an apprentice at a millinery shop in Brandon. She then worked in a wholesale house in Milwaukee to further her knowledge of hat making. Her first job was in Laura Kluckman's millinery store in Markesan and she worked in various stores in Wisconsin. In 1932, she purchased a millinery business in Waupun, which became Beilke Apparel. In 1966, Laura Reslock purchased the business, but Ms. Beilke continued to live in Waupun until 1996, when she move to the assisted living facility at the Markesan Resident Homes North Terrace. She was a member of Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Miriam (Harold) Huth, Markesan, Grace (Ross) Hazelwood, Markesan, Erwin (Virginia) Beilke, Ripon, Frederick Frei, Markesan, Robert (Shirley) Frei, Markesan, Phyllis (Raeef) Butros, Kewaskum, and Ruth (Gerald) Ott, Rosendale; numerous great-nieces and nephews; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one niece, Violet Zasada, and one great-niece, Donna Meyer.

Friends may call on Sunday, July 15, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Wachholz Family Funeral Home, Markesan and on Monday, July 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun.

A memorial has been established.

Hester H. Ruehl
Hester Hattie Ruehl, 89, of Sylvan Crossing, Beaver Dam, died on Friday, July 13, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral was held on Monday, July 16, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. David Bode officiated. Burial was in the village of Hustisford cemetery.

Mrs. Ruehl was born on July 23, 1911, in the town of Rubicon, the daughter of Herman and Hedwig (Trittin) Grunske. She was married on June 12, 1929, to Roland Ruehl.

Mrs. Ruehl worked at Green Giant and Beaver Specialties for many years. She was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, where she was active in the choir. She was an avid bowler and was the first honorary member of the Bowling Hall of Fame (service award). She also spent a lot of time volunteering in many organizations, especially Bethesda.

Survivors include three children, Betty Woltman, Fond du Lac, Verna (Charles) Miller, Cudahy, and Kenneth (Ellen) Ruehl, Oshkosh; one brother, Carl Grunske, Waukesha; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; three brothers; and one son-in-law.

Friends called on Monday, July 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church,

Maysel I. Sasada
WYOCENA - Maysel I. Sasada, 92, of 323 W. Monroe St., Wyocena, formerly of Randolph, died on Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Columbia County Health Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 17, at 2 p.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home. The Rev. Jason Dickerson will officiate. Burial will be in the Randolph cemetery.

Ms. Sasada was born on Oct. 23, 1908, in Randolph, the daughter of the late Otto and Jane (Owen) Sasada.

Ms. Sasada was a 1931 graduate of Randolph High School. She was a member of the Randolph United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed children and did a lot of babysitting for area families as well.

Survivors include one sister, Shirley Sasada, Randolph; one sister-in-law, Eleanore Sasada, Minneapolis, Minn.; three nephews, Howard Sasada, Minnesota, and Mark and David Sasada, both of California; two nieces, Cheryl Rys, Minneapolis, and Nancy Sasada, California; three grandnephews, two grandnieces and very special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Lyle and Keith Sasada.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 17, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the Randolph Community Funeral Home.

A memorial fund is being established for the Randolph United Methodist Church.
