BORKOVEC, Margaret (Mrs. Alvin), 76, died Tuesday, October 8, 2002, at Woodside Nursing Home. She was born June 29, 1926, to the late Otto and Frieda (Ziemer) Ellman in Oconto. On June 2, 1945, she married Alvin Borkovec; he preceded her in death February 6, 1986.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert Borkovec, Green Bay; Michael (Carol) Borkovec, Denmark, and their children, Lisa, Tony and Nick; one daughter-in-law, Sue Borkovec, and her children, Jeff and Tricia; her sisters, Erma Hicks, Fifield, Verna Olson, Ohio, Marian "Dolly" Nerenhausen, DePere, Carol (Jack) Schlorhaufer, Minnesota, Dorothy (George) Schlosser, Lena, and Betty (Clarence) Spice, Lena; her brother, Harvey "Bud" Ellman, Oconto; and her sister-in-law, Louise Ellman, Oconto.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Borkovec; two brothers, Willard "Sonny" Ellman and Milton "Mux" Ellman; one sister, Laura Whiting; four brothers-in-law, Willard Whiting, Fran Hicks, Robert Olson and Chet Nerenhausen; and one sister-in-law, Charlotte "Kittsy" Ellman.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lyndahl Funeral Home, Lombardi Avenue and Ridge Road. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church, where the funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Earl Vorpagel III officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of The Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

DES JARDIN, Stafford, 84, Ashwaubenon. Visitation 4-8 p.m. today at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., and after 10 a.m. Thursday at Nativity Catholic Church, 2270 S. Oneida St. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Survivors include his wife, Betty; four sons, Richard (Nancy) Des Jardin, Escanaba, Mich., Joseph (Nancy) Des Jardin, Sturgeon Bay, Gerald John Des Jardin, Green Bay, Mark (Lynn) Des Jardin, Ashwaubenon; five daughters, Carol Dieter, Escanaba, Mich., Mary (Emery) Vieu, Escanaba, Mich., Jeanne (Mike) Sjogren, Green Bay, Stefanie (Bob) Neville, Green Bay, Delores (Tom) Manders, Greenleaf; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, John Des Jardin, Schaeffer, Mich.; two sisters, Lorraine Jackson and Patricia Butterbough, both of Palatine, Ill.

JOHNSON, Elaine P.S., 82, Green Bay. Visitation 11 a.m-1 p.m. today at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1024 Shawano Ave. Memorial service 1 p.m. today at the church. Survivors include one sister, Jeanette (Fred) Schiller. Voie Funeral Home, Iola, is assisting the family.

VANDERHEIDEN, Marion J., 79, Green Bay. Visitation 2-4:30 p.m. today at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave. Memorial Mass 5 p.m. today at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1423 Kellogg St. Survivors include two sons, John (Georgeann) Vanderheiden, Oneida, Robert (Diane) Vanderheiden, De Pere; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, James (Laura) Cordier, Sturgeon Bay.

PAYE, Norman J., 73, Green Bay. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason Street, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Lane. Rosary at 6 p.m. Wednesday and parish wake service 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

SCHMITZ, Catherine H., 84, Green Bay, died Monday, October 7, 2002, at a local nursing home. She was born June 26, 1918, in Mountain, Wis., to the late Louis and Helen (Kryzanek) Clark. Catherine was a graduate of St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield, Ill. She later attended Quincy College in Quincy, Ill. Catherine worked at several hospitals in the Midwest that are owned by The Hospital Sisters of St. Francis.

In the early 1960s Catherine married Lawrence V. Schmitz. He preceded her in death. Catherine served as a Nursing Instructor at Bellin College of Nursing for many years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Community in De Pere.

Survivors include a brother, Jerome Clark, Oneida; a sister and brother-in-law, Georgia and George Braswell, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Raphael (Joanne) Clark; a nephew and great-nephew, Steve Clark Sr. and Steve Clark Jr., who were like sons to her; many beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence V. Schmitz; her parents; two sisters, Arlene Rickard, Sister Louis (Janette Clark); four brothers, Vincent Clark, Andrew Clark, Raphael Clark and Louis Clark.

Friends may call at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday. The Funeral Service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Harper officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Cemetery, Mountain, Wis.

HARTMAN, Eugene (Gene), 89, Pulaski. Visitation 3-6 p.m. today at Marnocha Funeral Home, 186 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski. Funeral service 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Survivors include one son, Don (Judy) Hartman, Osceola; two grandchildren; one sister, Joan Kaare, Cambridge.

PAYE, Norman, 73, Green Bay. Arrangements are pending; Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., is assisting the family.

RACINE, John P., 61, Green Bay, Green Bay, died unexpectedly Saturday evening at his cottage on Grindle Lake. Born in Green Bay on May 9, 1941, he is the son of the late Chester and Dorothy (Nejedlo) Racine. John graduated from high school in 1959 and later attended Green Bay Vocational School ,where he earned an associates degree in business. On Nov. 28, 1963, he married the former Mary Ann Albers at St. Boniface Church, De Pere. John and Mary Racine owned and operated Racine's Office Supply from 1970 until 1996. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, boating, swimming, bowling, roller skating, playing cards, puzzles, singing and especially times spent with his family at their cottage. On July 24, 1998, John had a hole-in-one at DeSmidt's Golf Course in Crivitz. He was a member of the choir and longtime volunteer of the roller rink at St. Mary of the Angels Parish, served on the Board of Directors for the Green Bay Bowling Association and was Past President of the Northeast Business Association.

Survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Mary; two children, Terri Racine, Tom Racine, all of Green Bay; two brothers, Chester Racine Jr. of Green Bay, Gerald Paul (Rosemary) Racine of Green Bay; three sisters, Janice (Norbert) O'Connor of Brillion, Marian (Glen) Koss of Green Bay; Barbara Manthei of Oshkosh; brothers-in-law, Bill (Joanne) Albers of De Pere, Mike (Mary Ann) Albers of Denmark; one sister-in-law, Marge (Erv) Hutjens of De Pere; many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Matthew; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ed and Margaret Albers. Visitation at MALCORE Funeral Home, University Avenue at Baird Street, from 3 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the funeral. Funeral services 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in his memory.

Special thanks to the Crooked Lake Rescue Squad, his brother and best friend Paul, and his golfing buddy Don Sydney.

SCHMITZ, Catherine H. Schmitz, 84, Green Bay, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at a local nursing home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Blaney Funeral Home.

TILQUE, Darlene E., 56, De Pere. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1307 Lourdes Ave., De Pere. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Survivors include her husband, Marvin; four daughters, Lynn (Bill) Mueller, De Pere, Julie (Jeff) Duckett, De Pere, Jill (Greg) Hill, Green Bay, Stacie, Green Bay; one son, Thomas (Sara) Tilque, Krakow; eight grandchildren; one sister, Edna (Robert) Puyleart, Green Bay; five brothers, Roland Van Duyse, De Pere, Lawrence (Rose) Van Duyse, De Pere, Donald (Mary) Van Duyse, Allouez, Jerome (Mary) Van Duyse, Green Bay, Peter (Pat) Van Duyse, Green Bay.

Survivors include three children, Paul Cody, Racine, Janel Cody, Kaukauna, and Jeffrey (Judy) Cody, Imenifer, Calif.; five grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; three step-grandchildren.

GARRY, Robert R. "Bob", 45, Green Bay. Visitation 3-6 p.m. Tuesday at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave. Funeral service 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Survivors include his fiancée, Sharon Benjamin, Green Bay; his mother, Marcella Garry, Green Bay; sister, Karen (Dale) Pope, Texas; brother, Ray (Kris) Garry, New Franken; other relatives and friends.

RANK, Mrs. Michael (Irene), 87, Luxemburg, died peacefully Saturday evening, Oct. 5, 2002, at Linzmeier Home Care Center. She was born Nov. 11, 1914, to the late Louis and Desira (DeLongville) Hendricks in Tonet, Wis. She married Michael Rank at St. Martin's Church in Tonet on Sept. 21, 1937. He preceded her in death Nov. 24, 1995.

Irene was a member of the Christian Mother Society of St. Mary's Church. There was no job too large for Mom. Irene loved to "work" in her garden. Baking Belgian pies, doing barn chores, keeping a spotless house, making quilts and baby blankets are some of the things she enjoyed. Irene loved having her large family together for all the holidays. A game of Sheepshead would make the day complete.

Irene is survived by her seven children, Don (Marlene) Rank, Arnie (Marie) Rank, all of Green Bay, Jim (Marilyn) Rank, Luxemburg, Jane (Dick) Schunke, Kewaunee, Jean (Gary) Nelson, Black Earth, Mary (Jim) Beaurain, Casco, Dan Rank, Luxemburg; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Myrtle Veeser, Mabel (Norville) Borley; two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Hendricks and Anna Rank; nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and their spouses, Lorraine (Elmer) Delaruelle, Eva (Harold) Tasquin, Marie (Jule) DeQuaine, Regina (Joe) Weininger; one brother, Wilfred Hendricks; five brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Leo, Raymond (Adeline), Felix, Fabian (Pauline) Rank and Quentin Veeser.

Friends may call at McMahon Funeral Home, Luxemburg from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, with visitation continuing after 9:30 Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, Luxemburg. Prayer service 7 p.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.

A thank you to the staff at Linzmeier Home Care Center-Fairview, the Luxemburg Clinic, Rev. Milton Suess, all her lady friends for sharing the good times, and a special thank you to her niece Sharon Stahl for all the care given to Irene.
