OBED H. BRAEMER

Obed H. Braemer of Iron Ridge passed away Sunday, February 17, 2002 at Mayville Nursing Home at the age of 91 years. He was born October 26, 1910 in the Town of Hustisford, the son of Herman and Emma (nee Guelzow) Braemer. He married Eleanor Brunn in the Town of Trenton in June 1942. He farmed on the family farm that was homesteaded by his great grandfather in 1848. He was a past member of the Board of Directors for Hustisford State Bank from 1969 – 1998, past Board of Director of Hustisford School District, past President and Board of Director of the Rock River Co-Op in Watertown. Obed graduated from the University of Wisconsin College of Agriculture in Madison, he was a 1928 graduate from Mayville High School, and attended Bethany Ev. Lutheran Grade School in Hustisford. He was a lifetime member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church in Hustisford. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church or School would be appreciated

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Eileen Schmidt, and a sister, Mabel Karberg. He is survived by his son, Winfred (Lois) Braemer of Iron Ridge, his grandchildren, Scott Braemer of Mayville and Amy Braemer of Germantown, his brother–in-law, Wayne Schmidt, other relatives and friends.

Visitation Tuesday, February 19, from 4-7 PM at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church in Hustisford. Funeral service to follow at 7 PM at Church. Interment Wednesday at 10 AM at Hustisford cemetery. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home is serving the family.

ANNE C. PUTZI

Anne C. Putzi of Hartford and Mesa, AZ was Born to Eternal Life Wednesday May 29, 2002 at the age of 84 years.

She was born July 31, 1917 in West Milwaukee, the daughter of Frank and Theresa Merschdorf.

Loving Mother of Jack (Darlene) Putzi of Hartford, JoAnne (Gary) Vale of Mesa, AZ and Ronald (Joyce) Putzi of Lakeland FL. Dear sister of Mary Tompkins of Waukesha, Eva Bauer of Waterford, Lee Walker of Mesa, AZ and Terry Wachloz of Greenfield. Also survived by six grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday June 4, at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church, 428 Forest St. Hartford, at 11am. Fr. Mike Petrie will officiate. Visitation Tuesday at church from 9am –10:45am. Private Entombment Holy Cross cemetery .

MICHAEL T. ASPAN

MICHAEL T. ASPAN of Hartford passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2002 at the age of 78 years. He was born on April 25, 1924 in Austria, the son of Michael and Theresa (nee Angerer) Aspan. He married Elizabeth Conrad July 6 1946 at St. Michaels’ Church in Milwaukee. He is preceded in death by his parents, and by his brothers Joseph, Raymond, and Fredrick. He is survived by his wife, Eliazabeth (nee Conrad), his children, Julie (Henry) Herpolsheimer of Hartford, Therese Isermann of California, Mary Ann (Joseph Kasper) Aspan of Delafield, Dr. Michael A. Aspan of Hartford, and Mark J. Aspan of Hartford, by his grandchildren Christopher, Judy, Lisa, David, and Josef, by his sister Dorothy (Richard) Sonnenberg of Californi, by his sister-in-law Patricia Aspan of California.and by his niece and nephews Cheryl, Robert, and Fredrick. Michael is also survived by other relatives here and in Austria.

Michael served his country during WWII with Company A 6th Medical Battalion in the Asiatic –Pacific theater, the Philippine Liberation Campaign, he retired from Thilmany and Pulp and Paper Company after 20 years of service. He was active in Fox Valley local theater. He loved classical music and opera and exposed all of his children to it. Michael also found a sense of peace and enjoyment in fishing.

Visitation Tuesday, September 17 from 9-11 a.m. at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home in Hartford. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Hartford. Revs. Mike Petrie and Mike Tess will officiate. Interment Holy Cross cemetery, Milwaukee, following the Mass. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home-Hartford is serving the family.

PAUL L. PRIESGAN

Of Erin was Born to Eternal Life Wednesday Feb. 12, 2003 at the age of 80 years. He was born December 9, 2003 in the township of Erin, the son of Joseph and Isabel (neeStittgen) Priesgen. He farmed in the Washington most of his life. He is preceded in death by parents, his brother Joseph Jr. and a sister Grace Priesgen. He is survived by sister Mary Alice Nickel of West Allis, his nieces Debra (Robert )Wazniak of Brown Deer, Barbara (Wesley) Seyfert of Dolores, CO and Linda Nickel of Milwaukee; a sister-in law , Lucille Priesgen of Hartford, special friends who will deeply miss him, Peter & Sue Utecht, Sandie Paul family and Pete Utecht Jr. family, Jim Holden, Jim Livingston, Earl and Hilda Weber, Chuck Boesel and Walter Hemmel. Paul was deeply loved by his constant companion Helen Katzfey. Also surviving are other relatives and many friends.

Visitation Tuesday February 18, from 5-7pm at the funeral home. Vigil service at 7pm. Morning prayers at the funeral home Wednesday at 8:30am. Mass of Christian Burial is Wednesday February 19, at 9:00am in The St. Therese Chapel at Holy Hill Interment St. Augustine cemetery. Hubertus.

HARVEY WELLHOEFER

Harvey J. Wllhoeffer of Allenton passed away Wednesday August 14, 2002, following a mechanical accident at his farm. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Lois H. (nee Wittenberger) his daughter Lisa Ruth Wellhoefer,and his sister Irma Westphal. Loving husband of Angela R. (nee Geiger). Dear father of Harvey Jr. (Wendy) Wellhoefer of Cecil, WI, Susan (Don) Kirsch of Slinger, Terry (Shirley Wellhoefer of Birnamwood, WI and Joyce Wellhoefer of SC. Dear brother of Elton Wellhoefer of Juneau and Wilmer (Shirley) Wellhoefer of Mayville. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 3 Step-daughters; Connie Bonnie and Mary Beth, 7 Step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews loving neighbors and many loving friends.

Funeral service Saturday August 17, at 4pm at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Hwy 33 Town of Herman. Visitation Saturday at church from 10am until time of service. Interment Pleasant Hill cemetery.

KARL R. NEHLS

Karl R. Nehls of Juneau passed away Thursday December 5, 2002 at the age of 85, at St Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. He was born July 4, 1917 in Hustisford the son of Louis and Hattie (nee Strassburg) Nehls. He attended Juneau schools and was employed by Louis Nehls Dairy Farms, Inc until his retirement. He was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Willard and a sister Mildred Klein. He is survived by his children; Karl C. “Jim” (Elaine) Nehls of Juneau, Judy Will of Lake Placid, FL, and Darwin (JoAnne) Nehls of Wisconsin Rapids, his sister Dorothy Guse of Juneau and his brother Louis (Lola) Nehls of Juneau, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and special fiends Ruth Braunschweig of Burnett and Marvin Klawitter of Beaver Dam, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Visitation is Sunday December 8 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau from 1-3pm. Funeral service will follow at 3pm at church. Rev. Thomas Biedenbender will officiate. Interment Monday at Juneau City cemetery at 11am. Memorials to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home of serving the family.

WALTER J. THIELMANN

Walter J. Thielmann OF Hartford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Sunday 18, 2002 at the age of 89. Walter was born December 3, 1912, the son of John G. and Cecilia (nee Fassbender) Thielmann. Hw spent his entire life in Hartford and was a well-respected businessman and friend. Walter graduated from Hartford High School in 1929 at the age of sixteen. He attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison. When the depression hit he came back to Hartford and founded John Thielmann and Son, Inc. with his father in 1929. Walter retired in 1977, selling the business to his sons.

On November 5, 1938, He married the love of his life, Patricia (nee Draper). They were blessed to spend 64 wonderful years together. They raised four children. Walter was very active in his church, St. Kilian’s of Hartford. He was a charter member of the Holy Name and Ushers Society. He also was an active Communion distributor for 10 years. Walter was a member of the Hartford Lions Club and was President in 1957. He was recently bestowed the Honor of The Melvin Jones Award for outstanding Lionism. Walter loved his sports. He was a 66-year charter member of the Hartford Golf Club. (He birdied #8 three weeks ago). He also enjoyed watching his sons and grandsons ballgames. He was an avid Brewer and Packer fan even in the losing years.

Devoted, loving husband of Patricia (nee Draper). Dearest father of Judy (Lou) Fraser-Ryniec of Champaign, IL, Paul (Nancy) of Hartford, John (Linda) of Cedarburg and Tom (Carole) of Hartford. Loving grandpa of John(Jodi) Fraser of Atlanta, Scott Thielmann of Hartford, Jeff Fraser of Atlanta, Dawn (Chad) Hron of Hartford, Rick Thielmann of Glendale Heights, IL, Tammy (Fiancée Rick) of Sussex, Nick, John and Andrew Thielmann of Cedarburg and Jay Thielmann of Hartford. EDWARD F. SEMRAD

Edward F. Semrad Of Hartford passed away Hartford Care Center, Monday December 2, 2002 at the age of 92 . He was born December 11, 1009 in Dubuque, IA, the son of Frank and Mary Semrad. He married Erma Pitkin in 1929 in Dubuque, IA.

He is preceded in death by his wife in November 22, 1991.

He is survived by his step-daughter Pearl Courtner of CA, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Ed worked at Libby’s Canning Company for thirty years. He loved to fish and garden and the many vegetables he raised he gave to his neighbors. Ed had many friends that he would meet at Granddad’s Bakery and enjoy fellowship and pastry. He served his country during WWII abroad two different battleship’s, the USS Idaho and the USS Massachusetts. He was a member of Hartford American Legion Post #19

Visitation is Thursday December 5, from 11am-1pm at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home-Hartford. Funeral service will follow at 1pm at the funeral home. Entombment Forest Home cemetery, Milwaukee. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home is serving the family.

BERNICE A. DEGELER nee FROMM

Of Hustisford passed away Wednesday September 18, 2002 at the age of 74 years. Loving wife of Glenn of Hustisford. Dear sister of William Fromm of West Bend. Dear aunt of Johanna (Russell) Volm of Kewaskum and John Fromm of West Bend. Dear sister-in-law of Lyle Degeler of Slinger and Dorlis Niesar of Muscoda, WI. Also survived by other relatives and friends.

Visitation is Saturday September 21, from N00N –3pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 450 Bridge St., Mayville. Funeral service will follow at 3pm at church. Rev. Edward A. Blonski will officiate. Interment Hustisford cemetery.

VERDIE E. GIMMEL

Verdie E. Gimmel of Hartford passed away Aurora Medical Center-Hartford, Thursday November 28, 2002 at the age of 86 years. She was born January 3, 1916 in Burnett, WI the daughter of Emil & Clara (nee Altman) Zilisch, She married Raymond C. Gimmel October 15, 1939 at Zion Lutheran Church in Burnett, WI. She lived in Burnett for two years than moved to Beaver Dam and lived there until 1956 when she moved to Hartford. She was a member of Peace Ev. Lutheran Church in Hartford, the Mission Society, L.W.M.S. and was an active member in volunteer work.

She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond, a son Dr. Duane R. Gimmel her parents , 2 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by her son Dennis (Shirley) Gimmel of Oconomowoc, her daughter-in-law Joyce Gimmel of Delmar, IA, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Visitation is Sunday Dec. 1, from 1-3pm at Peace Ev. Lutheran Church, 1001 Center St. Hartford, WI. Funeral service will follow at 3pm at church. Rev. Daniel Westendorf will officiate. Interment Pleasant Hill cemetery. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home is serving the family.

CLAUDE E. ROSE

Claude E. Rose of Naples, FL, formerly of Hartford, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2002 in Naples, FL at the age of 83 years. He was born September 11, 1918 in Hartford, the son of Joseph and Lucille (nee Ladewig) Rose.

He is preceded in death by his son, Richard, of St. Germaine, WI. Claude is survived by his wife, Ruth of Naples, FL, his children, Ronald (Judy) Rose of Mayville and Randy (Shirley) Rose of Naples, his grandchildren, Mary (Alan) Long of Sayner, WI, Rick Rose of Milwaukee, Mark (Lisa) Rose of St. Germaine, WI, Jeremy Rose of West Bend, Melissa Rose of Mayville, Amanda Rose of Mayville, and Elisha Huson of Naples, and by his great-grandchildren, Stefania, Jordan, Dillon, Hunter and Hailey.

Claude was employed by May Steel for 20 years, and lived in Mayville and in Hartford for many years before moving to Naples. He loved to hunt and fish in the Horicon Marsh.

Visitation Saturday, May 4, 2002 from noon – 2 p.m. at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home in Hartford. Service to follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment Pleasant Hill cemetery. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home is serving the family.

Patricia M. Apostoloff, nee Sheeran, of Hartford was Born to Eternal Life Tuesday August 14, at the age of 76 years. Dear mother of Gregg (Angela) and David (Sheree) Apostoloff. Loving grandmother of Celena Apostoloff. Dear sister of Mary Lou (Ralph) Passage and Kathleen (George) Steigauf. Dear Niece of Margaret Mankowski. Dear sister-in-law of Carol Sheeran. HARLAND A. LISKO

Harland A.Lisko, of Hartford passed away Tuesday December 17, 2002 at the age of 86 years. He was born September 12, 1916 in the town of Herman the son of Arthur and Emma )nee Vogel). He married Viona Billing June 18, 1938 at Zion Lutheran Church in Theresa. Harland was a member of Peace Ev. Lutheran Church in Hartford and served as Vice-President and Financial Secretary of the church and treasurer of Missions. He farmed part of his life and worked for 30 years at International Stamping Company in Hartford. He was a member of Senior Friends of Hartford.

Loving husband of Viona (nee Billing) of Hartford. Dear father of Clyde (Bonnie) Lisko of Sussex, dear grandfather of Craig Lisko of Lannon, dear brother of Lyla (Elmer) Ehmke of Hartford, dear sister-in-law of Selma Budahn of Juneau. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

MARGARET H. DIENER

Margaret H. Diener, longtime Hartford resident, died on Friday, April 19, 2002 at St. Joseph Residence, New London, at the age of 87 years. She was born in Sheboygan on November 13, 1914, one of 12 children of William and Emma (nee Kuether) Stegemeyer. She was baptized in the Christian faith on November 29, 1914, and confirmed her baptismal vows on April 1, 1928. Her confirmation memorial verse was Ephesians 6:10, 11 – “Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

Margaret married Ernst “Ernie” Diener on May 23, 1936 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. He managed A & P grocery stores for many years, moving to Hartford in 1947. She is preceded in death by her parents, and by Ernie in 1979. She is survived by six sons, Ronald of North Carolina, Rev. James (Cheryl) of Waupaca, Rev. Robert (Judith) of Readfield, John (Judith) of North Carolina, David of Slinger, and Richard (Annette) of Port Washington. She is also survived by her sister, Caroline (William) Zastrow of Sheboygan, her sister-in-law Ruth (Arno)Stegemeyer of Sheboygan, her sister-in-law Frieda (Henry) Diener of West Bend, daughter-in-law Lynda Belke of Hartford, and by 20 grandchildren, 16-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Hartford, and its Ladies Aid and Mission Society. She as a member of the auxiliary of Hartford Memorial Hospital

Visitation Tuesday, April 23, 2002 from 10 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church. Funeral service to follow at church at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Daniel Westendorf will officiate. Interment Pleasant Hill cemetery. Memorials to Peace Lutheran Church or Hartford Memorial Hospital Would be appreciated. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home is serving the family.

MARIE C. RITZ-LAWRENCE

Marie C. Ritz-Lawrence (nee Ritz) was born to Eternal Life Sunday September 8, 2002 at the age of 46 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Jr. and sister Patty.

She is survived by her son Jason (Angie Rose) Ritz of Fond du Lac, her grandson Mason Ritz of Fond du Lac, her nieces, Jackie (Jeff) Holden of Hartford, Chantell Ritz of Milwaukee, her nephew Robert Ritz III of Hartford, and great nieces and nephew, Angela, Amanda and Alex Holden of Hartford, her sister-in-law Gale Grudzinski of Milwaukee. Also surviving are Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

Visitation is Thursday September 12, from 4-7pm at the funeral home and Friday from 11:30am –1pm at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial is Friday at 1:30pm at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church, 264 W. State St. Interment St. Kilian’s cemetery.

MORILLAE G. KNAUP

Morillae G. Knaup (nee Walker)of Fox Lake passed away Monday November 4, 2002 at Continental Manor in Randolph, WI at the age of 95 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband Forrest “Topsy” in 1985. She is survived by her children, Gae (Robert) Bergmann of New Berlin, Charles (Sharon) Knaup of Sarasota, FL and Judd (Cynthia) Knaup of Bellevue, MI , 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Visitation is Friday November 8 from 10am-11am at The First Congregational United Church of Christ, 206 College Ave., Fox Lake, WI. Funeral service will follow at 11am at church. Rev Sylvia Williams will officiate. Interment Riverside cemetery, Fox Lake. Memorials to The First Congregational United Church of Christ would be appreciated.

Mrs. Knaup worked at the Dodge County Fair Grounds for 30 years. Her husband “Topsy” was the Dodge County Fair secretary and she worked for the Fair along with him.

LAWRENCE E. OCHS

LAWRENCE E. OCHS of Juneau, WI passed away Friday, January 4 at Clearview Nursing Home in Juneau at the age of 69. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother John “Huntz”, and his sister Marlene. He is survived by his wife Joan (nee Cole) of Whitewater, his children Laurian (Bob) Kasak of Georgia, Kim (Walter) Zuliani of Hudson, WI, William (Gladys) Ochs of Sun Prairie, WI, Pam (David) Rochon of Hudson, WI, Tracy (Matt) Sullivan of Milwaukee, Tina (Mark Jawson) Ochs of Milwaukee, Christina (Mike) Poeschel of Whitewater, and Larry (Julie) Ochs of Oak Creek. Also surviving are his former wife and children’s mother, LaDonna (nee Easterby) Moesch, 23 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, his sister Delores (Phil) Braatz, and other relatives and friends.

Lawrence was an ordained minister and co-director of Cornerstone 300 Ministries in Farnhamhville, IA. He was a member of Welsh Ponies and COB Society of America, Inc. He won many awards in weight lifting in the age 50 and above weight class. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed writing editorials, and showing and raising horses, and competitive weight lifting.

Memorial service Thursday, January 10 at 11:30 a.m. at Oakland Seventh Day Adventist Church, W8731 Advent Road, Fort Atkinson. Family will receive relatives and friends at church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Interment Oak Hill cemetery, Palmyra. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home is serving the family.
