Michael D. Dinkel
MADISON - Michael D. Dinkel, 43, of 1610 Bultman Road, Madison, died on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. William Key will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Dinkel was born on April 16, 1958, in Beaver Dam, the son of Dale and JoAnn (Carr) Dinkel. He was married on Sept. 17, 1988, to Lori Fink in Beaver Dam.

Mr. Dinkel was a 1976 graduate of Beaver Dam High School and a 1985 graduate of UW-Oshkosh. He was employed as a regional controler with Dungarvin Inc., for the past five years. He was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church, Madison, and a past member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. He became certified as a public accountant. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Lori Dinkel, Madison; one daughter, Kaitlin, at home; his parents, Dale and JoAnn Dinkel, Beaver Dam; four brothers, Thomas Dinkel, Siren, Robert (Kris) Dinkel, Wausau, James Dinkel, Chicago, Ill., and Stephen (Cathi) Dinkel, Jefferson; one sister, Mary Beth (Ryan Jeske) Dinkel, Oak Creek; two nephews, Vince and Jacob Dinkel; two nieces, Anna and Jenna Dinkel; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Sheree Ann Dinkel; maternal and paternal grandparents.

Friends may call on Thursday, Sept. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

John A. Morgan
CAMBRIA - John Allen "Al" Morgan, 78, of Cambria, died on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, Cambria. The Rev. Julie WaterDu will officiate. Burial will be in Cambria cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Cambria American Legion Post No. 401.

Mr. Morgan was born on Dec. 10, 1922, the youngest of five children to John D. and Mary (McDonald) Morgan.

Mr. Morgan was a graduate of Cambria High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, as an MP in China and India. He worked with his family on the farm following the war and then became employed with Rockwell in Randolph for many years and then the Larson Canning Co. (DelMonte), Cambria. He loved gardening, fishing and pheasant hunting. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Cambria, and a lifetime member of the Cambria American Legion Post No. 401.

He will be sadly missed and mourned by one brother, David (Lucille) Morgan, Muskego; one brother-in-law, Boyd Hood, Louisiana; several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and dear friends in the Cambria community.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Gertrude Morgan, Mary Lillie and Betty Hood.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the First Presbyterian Church, Cambria.

The Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria, is serving the family.

Gladys M. Wachter
Gladys M. Wachter, 80, formerly of Fox Lake, died on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. John Breitwisch will officiate. Cremation has taken place.

Mrs. Wachter was born on Sept. 12, 1920, in Minnesota, the daughter of Edward and Victoria (Mattson) Mortensen. She was married on Feb. 25, 1965, to Rudolph Wachter at River Church, Mayville.

Mrs. Wachter lived in Fox Lake for many years and in Horicon for 20 years. While in Horicon she did housekeeping for many area businesses. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at Clearview and at the Beaver Dam Care Center. She managed the apartments on Judson Drive for senior citizens, as well as apartments in Fox Lake. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, and a volunteer for the Bethesda Country Fair.

Survivors include five sons, Lawrence (Susan) Rasmussen, Barefoot Bay, Fla., Richard (Susan) Rasmussen, Columbus, David (Pat) Wachter, Sommerset, Thomas (Dolores) Wachter, and John Wachter, both of Beaver Dam; two daughters, Teresa (fiancee Tom Emery) Voigt, Waupun, and Shirley (fiancee Tim Streich) Wachter, Fox Lake; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; special friends, Ross (Mary) Spittel, Spencer; two brothers, Lyle Mortensen, Wolf Forth, Texas, and Cecel "Buddy" Mortensen, Hillman, Minn.; one sister, Delores Beckette, Redwood City, Calif.; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudolph, on Feb. 28, 1999; one daughter, Mary, on April 26, 2000; one brother, Kenneth Mortensen, and one sister, Ruby Seifert.

Friends may call on Friday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Randolph J. Schrauth
Randolph J. Schrauth, 86, of Fond du Lac, formerly of Appleton, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, at Hospice Home of Hope of Fond du Lac.

He was born June 15, 1915, in Campbellsport, to the late Herman and Clara (nee Senn) Schrauth.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and later farmed in the Denmark area and later moved to the Appleton area.

Survivors include six children, Diane Schrauth of Appleton, Karen (Bruce) Diedrich of Two Rivers, Larry Schrauth of Manitowoc, Allen (Lynda) Schrauth of Fond du Lac, Elroy Schrauth of Two Rivers and Deborah (Willard) Hutchausen of Manitowoc; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeanette (Harvey) Klotz of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Juliette Schrauth of West Bend; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were three brothers, Walter, Gregory and Irving.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend.

Father Gerald Brittain will officiate, and interment will be in Holy Angels cemetery, West Bend, at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorials to Hospice Home of Hope are appreciated.

Dale K. Straks
WAUPUN - Dale K. "Tiny" Straks, 62, of Waupun, died on Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

The funeral was held on Monday, Sept. 17, at 10:30 a.m. at the Alto Reformed Church. The Rev. Ted Medema officiated. Burial was in Alto cemetery.

Mr. Straks was born on Sept. 27, 1938, in Alto, the son of Gerald and Myrtle (Link) Straks. He was married on May 28, 1960, to Shirley Evans, Randolph.

Mr. Straks attended Brandon schools and was a 1956 graduate of Brandon High School. Following marriage the couple lived in Waupun most of their married life. He was a self-employed milk hauler for several years and was most recently employed as a truck driver for Kreilkamp Trucking. He was a member of the Alto Reformed Church, and the Men's Chorus. He was also a member of a barbershop quartet for several years and was very active with the Waupun Truckers Jamboree. He was a veteran of the Wisconsin Army National Guard, having served a year of active duty at Fort Lewis, Washington, during the Berlin Crisis.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Straks, Waupun; two sons, Jeff (Kelly) Straks, and Todd Straks, both of Waupun; two daughters, Lynette (Scott) Peters, and Kristin (special friend Brett Pribbenow) Straks, both of Waupun; five grandchildren, Heather, Tiffany and Ashley Peters, and Lauren and Jacob Dale Straks; two sisters, Sharon (Don) DeMotts, Waupun, and Noreen (the Rev. Michael) Van Buren, West Olive, Mich.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Nell Redeker, and one brother-in-law, Alton "Bud" Redeker.

Friends called on Sunday, Sept. 16, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Monday, Sept. 17, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, at the Alto Reformed Church.

Evelyn C. Neuman
Evelyn C. Neuman, 80, of 130 E. Mill St., Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Lindner will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Neuman was born on Nov. 17, 1920, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Otto and Elsie (Braun) Hess Sr. She was married on Aug. 29, 1942 to Walter J. Neuman at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Neuman was employed with Weyenberg Shoe Factory for 31 years. She was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, and the VFW Auxiliary. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was loved by all.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas Neuman and Joseph (Norma) Neuman, both of Beaver Dam; two brothers, Honey Hess, Fond du Lac, and Leroy (Maryann) Hess, Beaver Dam; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Daniel Neuman, Beaver Dam; one godson, Rudy Gaytan, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; six brothers, Otto Jr., Walter, Hugo, Oscar, Donald, and Herbert, and three sisters, Lillian, Margaret, and Hedwig.

Friends may call on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Friday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

August E. Firari
FORT ATKINSON - August E. Firari, 61, of Fort Atkinson, formerly of Reeseville, died on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at his home following a long struggle with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).

The funeral will be held on Monday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m., at Salem Lutheran Church, Lowell. The Revs. Ethan Steinbrenner and Steven Wilkens will officiate. Burial will be in Lowell cemetery.

Mr. Firari was born on May 30, 1940, in Dodge County, the son of August and Vera M. (Westphal) Firari. He was married on Nov. 9, 1963, to Delores Radke in Beaver Dam.

Mr. Firari was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, Lowell.

Survivors include his wife, Delores Firari, Fort Atkinson; three children, Keith (Martha) Firari, Barbara (Kevin) Klubertanz,, both of Fort Atkinson, and Debra (Chris) Flaten, Eau Claire; seven grandchildren, Grace and David Firari, Matthew, Kara and Megan Klubertanz, David and Corinne Flaten; his mother, Vera Firari, Beaver Dam; four sisters, Vida (LaVern) Neuberger, Carolyn Gray, and Melva (DeWane) Krinke, all of Reeseville, and Hilda Heller, Watertown; one brother, Ralph (Sherri) Firari, Reeseville; mother-in-law, Frances Radke; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, August A. Firari; one grandson, Michael Flaten; one sister, Lorraine Firari; two brothers-in-law, Bill Gray and James Heller, and his father-in-law, Loren Radke.

Friends may call on Sunday, Sept. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Reeseville, and on Monday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Salem Lutheran Church, Lowell.

Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, Lowell, Bethany Lutheran, Fort Atkinson, or Rainbow Hospice, Jefferson.

Eugene Welak
MAYVILLE - Eugene Welak, 72, of 1733 Dayton St., Mayville, died on Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral is pending with the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville.

Wilma W. Schoenike
WATERTOWN - Wilma Wanda Schoenike, 70, of W3800 Highway MM, Watertown, died on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at Beverly Terrace.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Lebanon. The Rev. Charles E. Werth will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran cemetery, Lebanon.

Mrs. Schoenike was born on Nov. 29, 1930, the daughter of Leonhard and Rose (Zamzow) Key. She was married on June 13, 1953, to Hilbert Gottlieb Schoenike at Bethany Lutheran Church, Hustisford.

Mrs. Schoenike attended Bethany Lutheran Grade School, Hustisford. She and her husband farmed in the town of Lebanon. She was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Lebanon. She was a member of the church choir for many years, the Lutheran Missionary League, and the Sinissippi Settlers Homemakers Club. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Hilbert Schoenike, Watertown; five sons, Jim (Sally) Schoenike, Ashippun, Jon, Mike and Rich Schoenike, all of Watertown, and Tom Schoenike, Lebanon; one daughter, Kathy (Dan) Lemke, Chilton; one sister, Gertrude (Edwin) Schoenike, Hustisford; two brothers, Harold Key and Kenneth Key, both of Hustisford; one sister-in-law, Irene Key, Horicon; five grandchildren, Laura and Kari Schoenike, Ashippun, Marke, Miranda and Colton Lemke, Chilton; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Evelyn Braasch, and one brother, Norbert.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Sept. 25 from 5 to 9 p.m., at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Lebanon, and on Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the St. Peter's building fund.

Bernice E. Wittnebel
WATERTOWN - Bernice E. Wittnebel, 91, of Watertown, formerly of Oshkosh, died on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at Beverly Terrace, Watertown.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, N554 Highway R, Lebanon. The Rev. Charles Werth will officiate. Burial will be in Ashippun Lutheran cemetery.

Mrs. Wittnebel was born on Feb. 11, 1910, in the town of Lowell, the daughter of Alvin and Ottilia (Willie) Fehling. She was married on April 5, 1930, to William Wittnebel in Watertown.

Mrs. Wittnebel was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lebanon.

Survivors include her children, Palmer (Lois) Wittnebel, Beaver Dam, Oliver Wittnebel, Oshkosh, Shirley Nell, Atkins, Minn., Richard (Dorothy) Wittnebel, Burnt Hills, N.Y., and Robert Wittnebel, Oshkosh; one daughter-in-law, Jeanette Wittnebel, Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; one son, Roger, and one daughter-in-law, Alevia.

Friends may call on Friday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lebanon.

Memorials may be made to Ashippun Lutheran Church or Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Maxine V. Wheeler
Maxine V. Wheeler, 78, of Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. William Key will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery, town of Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Wheeler was born on Oct. 4, 1922, in Randolph, the daughter of Max and Elizabeth (Lentz) Prag. She was married on May 29, 1943, to Paul Wheeler in Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Wheeler was a resident of Beaver Dam since 1979. She and her husband operated a dairy farm in Beaver Dam until 1985. She then worked at Shopko before retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, and a member of the Catholic Women of St. Peter's. She had also been active in the Beaver Dam Homemakers Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (James) Pauli, North Las Vegas, Nev., and Janice "Pudge" (Walter) Tobak, Beaver Dam; three sons, William (Susan) Wheeler, Horicon, Robert (Mary) Wheeler, and Paul (Judy) Wheeler, both of Beaver Dam; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul, in 1978, and two sisters, Evelyn Heid and Leona Kahelski.

Friends may call on Monday, Oct. 1, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7:30 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Their Web site may be viewed at https://murray.plan4ever.com.
