Arthur Doctor, 69, of Waupun, died on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waupun. The Rev. Michael Moran will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Waupun.

Mr. Doctor was born on Aug. 17, 1932, in Oshkosh, the son of Arthur Sr. and Grace (Strong) Doctor. He was married on Nov. 26, 1955, to Mary Vanderkin in Waupun.

Mr. Doctor and his wife lived in Waupun all their married life. He owned and operated A.J. Doctor Excavating, Waupun, for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waupun.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Doctor, Waupun; two sisters, Rosemary (Hubert) Raymond, Markesan, and Evelyn (Butch) Berndt, Ripon; three brothers, James (Marie) Doctor, Brandon, Gordon (Sandy) Doctor, Fond du Lac, and Joe (Sandy) Doctor, Ripon; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Friends may call on Monday, Dec. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun.

Herbert J. Becker Jr.
IRON RIDGE - Herbert J. Becker Jr., 73, of Iron Ridge, died on Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Woodland. The Rev. John G. Bonow II will officiate. Burial will be in Hustisford cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Hustisford Memorial American Legion Post No. 420.

Mr. Becker was born on Sept. 9, 1928, in Oak Grove, the son of Herbert A. and Elsie (Nehls) Becker. He was married on June 25, 1955, to Joan Kelly at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church parsonage, Woodland.

Mr. Becker farmed all his life and since 1956, in the Hustisford area. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He was a past commander of the Hustisford Memorial American Legion Post No. 420.

Survivors include his wife, Joan C. Becker, Iron Ridge; 11 children, Cynthia (Bob) Zills, Oakfield, Herbert Becker, Iron Ridge, Debra (Chris) Neitzel, Ixonia, Linda (David) Rader, Mayville, Timothy Becker, Woodland, David Becker, Iron Ridge, Patricia Becker, North Lake, Jeffery (Charlene) Becker, Burnett, Sarah Becker, Iron Ridge, Lisa (Greg) Mueller, Jackson, and Rebecca Becker, Iron Ridge; 17 loving grandchildren, Melissa (Mark) Lemke, Christian, Lori and Tina Neitzel, Alissa, Anna Rose, Angela, Anthony and Adam Rader, Raymond, Kimberly and Randy Zills, Katelyn, Jessica and Megan Mueller, Karen (Joe) Mores, and Sylvia Brandenburg; two great-grandchildren, Miranda and Kaylee Mores; dear brothers and sisters, Ruby Gentz, Iron Ridge, Evangeline Gunka, Horicon, Daniel Becker, Iron Ridge, Joan (Wallace) Pusch, Rubicon, Calvin (Delores) Becker, Curtis (Mary) Becker, both of Iron Ridge, Beverly (Steve) Mann, Manitowoc, and Elsie Jean (Walter) Chapman, Watertown; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Dec. 18, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Woodland.

Rodrick R. Church
JACKSON - Rodrick R. Church, 57, of Jackson, died on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at his home.

The funeral was held on Monday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m., at the Vangen Funeral Home, Rio. The Rev. C. Keith Epps officiated. Burial was in Ohio cemetery, Rio.

Mr. Church was born on March 27, 1944, in Portage, the son of John and Katherine (Upham) Church. He was married in 1964 to Patricia White in Rio.

Mr. Church was a 1962 graduate of Rio High School, and later graduated from Northwestern Broadcasting School. He worked as a radio broadcaster in Iowa from 1963 to 1972. He was general manager for Clinton Cable Vision from 1973 to 1978. He was a member of the board of directors of the Clinton River Boat Days Committee of Clinton, Iowa, for several years. The couple moved back to Wisconsin and he was operations manager of North Central Operations Center of ATC (based out of Englewood, Colo.) He continued to work in cable TV until 1990. He most recently was employed at Slinger Manufacturing Co.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Patricia Church, Jackson; his mother, Katherine Church, Kaukauna; one sister, Francis Church-Lindemuth, Kaukauna; one brother, Richard (Linda) Church, Houston, Texas; one cousin; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; three nieces; two nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Church, and his father-in-law, Donald L. White Sr.

Friends called on Monday, Dec. 17, from noon until the time of service at the Vangen Funeral Home, Rio.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army.

Ella Huizenga
RANDOLPH - Ella Huizenga, 99, of 502 S. High St., Randolph, died on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Continental Manor, Randolph.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m., at the Second Christian Reformed Church, Randolph. The Rev. James Admiraal will officiate. Burial will be in the Randolph cemetery.

Mrs. Huizenga was born on June 4, 1902, in the Netherlands, the daughter of Rudolph and Anna (Kooistra) Kempenaar. She was married on June 24, 1924, to Adolph Huizenga in East Friesland.

Mrs. Huizenga came to the United States with her parents in 1906, and resided in the Randolph area since. She was an elementary school teacher in East Friesland, and taught at the East Friesland Christian School. She was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church, Randolph, and the Lydia Society of the church. She was an avid homemaker and loved to cook, can, make quilts and care for her loving family.

Survivors include six children, Ann (Melvin) Vander Galien, Randolph, Ruth (Jack) Alkema, Zeeland, Mich., Carol (Sam) Kok, Randolph, Donna (William) Ipema, Chicago, Ill., Frances Van Den Berg, Lansing, Mich., and Dean (Elaine) Huizenga, Randolph; and one daughter-in-law, Janice Huizenga, Alto. "Grandma the Great" is also survived by 37 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; one half-sister, Sylvia (Charles) De Vries, Randolph; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph, in August 1974; two sons, Benjamin and Martin; one daughter, Adeline Huizenga; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her parents; one sister, Nellie Rotman; one brother, Martin Kempenaar; two step-brothers, Gerlof and Walter Tamminga; one half-brother, Dewey Kempenaar, and two step-sisters, Anna Tissing and Elizabeth Alsum.

Friends may call on Monday, Dec. 17, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Second Christian Reformed Church, Randolph, and on Tuesday, Dec. 18, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

A memorial fund is being established.

The Kohls Community Funeral Home, Randolph, is serving the family.

Alta M. Mueller
FOND DU LAC - Alta M. Mueller, 83, formerly of 467 S. Hickory St., and most recently a resident of Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Fond du Lac, died on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at the nursing home.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Dec. 17, at 1 p.m., at the Church of Peace, 158 S. Military Road, Fond du Lac. The Rev. Richard Weikel will officiate. Cremation has taken place.

Mrs. Mueller was born on July 3, 1918, in Crandon, the daughter of Leon and Grace (Towne) Bird. She was married on June 2, 1954, to Conrad Mueller.

Mrs. Mueller was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. She served as a guard at the White House during the Roosevelt and Eisenhower administrations. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Horicon, and also served as past commander. She was a volunteer at Bethesda Lutheran Home, and at the Mayville Rehabilitation Center. She was also involved with the Waupun Girl Scout Council as a leader and camp director, as well as having served as the camp director of Camp Byron-YARC.

Mrs. Mueller was self employed as an interior decorator and painter. She also worked as a school bus driver for Johnson Bus Co. and was a kitchen helper at On The Flyway Supper Club, Horicon. She was a longtime resident of Horicon, Princeton and Mayville, until moving to Fond du Lac in 1987.

Survivors include one son, Lee (friend, Tina) Mueller, Horicon; two daughters, Zurell (Dennis) Smith, and Laurel (Glen) James, both of Fond du Lac; two granddaughters; one grandson; one great-grandson; two sisters, Dora Shaw and Norma Karst, both of Fond du Lac; one brother, Norman Bird, Crivitz; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad, in 1968; four brothers, and two sisters.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Church of Peace kitchen fund.

John C. Gardner
JUNEAU - John C. Gardner, 79, of Juneau, formerly of Horicon, died on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Juneau Terrace.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, at noon, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Juneau. The Rev. M. Eugene Kinney will officiate. Burial will be in St. Malachy cemetery, Horicon.

Mr. Gardner was born on Nov. 20, 1922, in Horicon, the son of Clarence and Mildred (Bodden) Gardner. He was married on Nov. 24, 1945, to Ellen (Chris) Christensen in Denver, Colo.

Mr. Gardner was a lifelong resident of Horicon, and was a 1940 graduate of Horicon High School. He attended St. Norbert College, DePere, and Marquette College, Milwaukee. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the European Theater. He managed Bodden Brothers Lumber Co., and was president of Gardner Manufacturing of Horicon. He was a volunteer driver for Dodge County for many years, a longtime member of the Horicon Rotary, and a member of the Horicon American Legion Post No. 157. He was very willing to help people in their time of need. He was a very active, devoted and faithful lifelong member of St. Malachy, and served on the St. Malachy cemetery Committee for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen "Chris" Gardner, Juneau; one daughter, Ellen M. (Michael Hansen) Gardner, Fort Meyers, Fla.; three sisters, Mary Sullivan, Mildred Gardner, both of Horicon, and Anne Nickodem, Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John G. Gardner; infant twin daughters, and one sister, Jessie Gardner.

Friends may call on Friday, Dec. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a parish vigil at 6:45 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon, and on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at Sacred Heart Cathloic Church, Juneau.

Memorials may be made to the Beaver Dam Hospice Program, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, or the charity of one's choice.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon, is serving the family.

Roger Wolford
WEST BEND - Roger Wolford, 47, of West Bend, died on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at his home, after a brave battle with cancer.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m., at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, West Bend. The Rev. Mark Hoffmann will officiate. Burial will be on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m., in Washington County Memorial Park.

Mr. Wolford was born on March 14, 1954, in Freeburn, Ky., the son of Elmer and Misouria (Chapman) Wolford. He was married on Dec. 22, 1973, to Maureen M. Smith in Chicago, Ill.

Mr. Wolford left home after high school for employment in the Chicago area. He worked at a few different places until April 1972, where he was employed at Danly Machine Corp., Cicero, Ill. He was transferred to Wisconsin in 1986, to the Mayville plant and was relocated to Beaver Dam. He was employed until his death.

He was the beloved husband of Maureen Wolford, West Bend; cherished father of Robbie (Lisa) Wolford, Waupun, and Michael (Shannon) Wolford, West Bend; adored grandfather of his pride and joys Austyn Roger, Brandon Boyd and Autum Rae; dear son of Misouria Smith; grandson of Georgia Chapman; loving brother to Sandra (Jim) Casey, Cicero, Ill., Charlene (Greg) Hensley, Woodman, Ky.; brother-in-law to Doreen (Kenneth) Kolff, Berwyn, Ill, Steve Smith, Chicago, Ill., and Michael Smith, Paris, France; further survived by 11 nieces; nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Wolford; step-father, Boyd Smith; in-laws, Henry and Lorraine Smith; maternal grandfather, and paternal grandparents.

Friends may call on Friday, Dec. 14, from 3 p.m. until the time of service at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, West Bend.

Memorials are appreciated.

Thomas E. Murray
Thomas E. Murray, 57, of Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. William Key will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Murray was born on Dec. 4, 1944, in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, the son of John and Anne (Mooney) Murray.

Mr. Murray loved music and playing the guitar. He played in two bands, Aunt Charlene and the Country Cousins, and Granny and the Wildflowers. He had been active in the Jaycees and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include two sisters, Maureen (Wilfred) Kenney, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and Mary (Doug) Orr, Edmundton, Alberta, Canada; two brothers, Michael (Margie) Murray, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and Raymond (Bonnie) Murray, Beaver Dam; friends, Kay Voelker and Roger Herbst, both of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Sheldon Reuter
HORICON - Sheldon "Joe" Reuter, 57, of Horicon, died on Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, from a rare complication of cancer.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m., at the Zion Lutheran Church, Horicon. The Rev. Paul Lindau will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Horicon.

Mr. Reuter was born on July 12, 1944, in Milwaukee, the son of Sherborn and Erna Reuter. He was married on April 3, 1965, to Eunice Albert at the Zion Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Mr. Reuter operated Joe's Standard Service, Horicon, until 1977, and Joe's Auto Service, Juneau, from January 1978 to April 2001. His customers became his dear friends.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice Reuter, Horicon; his loving daughter, Pamela (Mark) Grosskopf, Juneau; special grandson, Brandon Grosskopf, Juneau; four brothers; father-in-law, Harold Albert, Horicon; two sisters-in-law, Elaine (Dave) Tesch, and Shirley (John) Sternweis, both of Horicon; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Viola Albert, and one brother-in-law, Donald Albert.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau.

Carolyn M. Mueller
TOWN OF EMMET - Carolyn M. Mueller, 61, of N1420 Welsh Road, town of Emmet, died on Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at her home.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m., at St. Henry Catholic Church, Watertown. The Rev. Bernard Rott will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Mueller was born on Dec. 4, 1940, in Wausau, the daughter of Anton and Edna (Hanke) Salzman. She was married on June 27, 1959, to Robert Mueller at Holy Name Catholic Church, Wausau.

Mrs. Mueller was a 1959 graduate of Newman High School. She was employed at Brandt, Watertown, from 1970 to 1981, and then held a foster home license from Dodge County until 1988, when she began work at Marquardt Village until 1998. She loved to ride her horse, Chulita, and was a familiar sight northwest of town. Her flower gardens gave her joy as did her pets, Wolf, Chico, Carmella and Sonrica.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Mueller; her mother, Edna Salzman, Wausau; her children, Thad Mueller, Paul (Lora) Mueller, Kim (Pat) Mueller, all of Watertown, and Anita Mueller-Rans, Renton, Wash.; six grandchildren, James Jackson, Tiffany, Courtney, Ryan and Meghan Mueller, and Andrew Hobbs; brothers and sisters, Jerome (Mary) Salzman, Wausau, James (Joyce) Salzman, Menomonie, Roger (Pat) Salzman, Wausau, and Elaine (Leonard) Lang, Mosinee; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Friends may call on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Henry Catholic Church, Watertown.

Memorials may be made to Robert Mueller to be given to Carolyn's favorite charities.
