Myron P. Thomas
Myron "Mike" P. Thomas, 70, of 215 Roller Ave. Beaver Dam, died unexpectedly on Nov. 28, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. William Key will officiate. Burial will be in the Randolph cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post No. 146.

Mr. Thomas was born on Sept. 27, 1931, in Cresco, Iowa, the son of David J. and Dina (Jones) Thomas. He was married to Jane Siegel.

Mr. Thomas was employed with Kraft Foods for 38 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a YMCA bus driver and a delivery person at Parts Centre.

Survivors include special friend, Joan Schultz, Beaver Dam; his children, Danny (Carol) Thomas, Randy Thomas, Scott (Debra) Thomas, all of Beaver Dam, Dean (Connie) Thomas, Horicon, Steve "Larry" (Kathy) Thomas, Tammy (John) Nickel, and Tony (Nina) Thomas, all of Beaver Dam; one brother, Lloyd (Virginia) Thomas, Beaver Dam; ex-wife, Jane Thomas, Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Eric and Brad Thomas, Tara and Jared Franke, Natalie, Matthew, Dylan and Travis Thomas, Jennifer, Rachel and Melissa Thomas, Ryan and Kristin Thomas, Caitlyn and Morgan Nickel, and one "baby to be" Thomas; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Friends may call on Sunday, Dec. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. , with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Monday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Clarence J. Bartell
Clarence J. Bartell, 91, of 820 Madison St., Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at the Remembrance Home, Beaver Dam.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Dan Massie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's Catholic cemetery.

Mr. Bartell was born on July 31, 1910, in Beaver Dam, the son of Thomas and Cecelia (Bushke) Bartell. He was married in June 1939, to Margaret Poletzky in Beaver Dam.

Mr. Bartell was a farmer in Bayfield and was a press operator at Monarch Range for 40 years. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. He was very instrumental in the Beaver Dam Conservation Club in his earlier years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and trap.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bartell, Beaver Dam; one son, Thomas (Patricia) Bartell, Beaver Dam; one daughter, Sister Mary Ann Bartell, Wooster, Mass.; one sister, Irene Kampstra, Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and five sisters.

Friends may call on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Olive M. Schwartz
Olive M. Schwartz, 96, of the Beaver Dam Care Center, formerly of 221 1/2 E. Mill St., died on Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at the care center.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Church-United Methodist, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Eileen Kuehnl will officiate. Burial will be in Medina cemetery, Marshall.

Mrs. Schwartz was born on May 18, 1905, in Rockton, Ill., the daughter of John W. and Maude (Chamberlain) Allen. She was married in 1923 to Harold Dewey Schwartz.

Mrs. Schwartz was employed with Schmid's Cheese House as a waitress and cook for several years. She was a member of Trinity Church-United Methodist, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include seven children, Barbara (Charles) Missar, Fenwood, Clifford (Delores) Schwartz, Beaver Dam, Jerome (Catherine) Schwartz, Columbus, Ethel Riehbrandt, Wausau, Orpha Krolczyk, Montgomery, Texas, Orel (Vern) Wallow, Winona, Minn., and Ivan Schwartz, Montgomery, Texas; 37 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold, in 1959; three daughters, Lois, in infancy, Joan Duessler, and Cora Gaboda; three sisters, and two brothers.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Thursday, Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Trinity Church-United Methodist, Beaver Dam.

Diane M. Witte
JUNEAU - Diane M. Witte, 30, formerly of Johnson Creek, died on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Clearview Long Term Care and Rehabilitation, Juneau, as the result of a motorcycle accident on May 24, 2000.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m., at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown. The Rev. James Werner will officiate. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery, Watertown.

Mrs. Witte was born on March 20, 1971, in Watertown, the daughter of George and Jean (Schliewe) Borchardt. She was married in September 1991, to Ernie Witte at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown.

Mrs. Witte attended St. Mark's Lutheran Grade School, Watertown, and was a 1989 graduate of Watertown Senior High School. She was employed with Textron, Johnson Creek. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Johnson Creek. She enjoyed cycle riding and her garden. She loved nature and being outdoors. She was a strong willed and very caring person.

Survivors include two daughters, Breanna Witte and Saline Witte, both of Watertown; her parents, George and Jean Borchardt, Watertown; maternal grandparents, Franklin and June Schliewe, Juneau; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Helen Borchardt, Watertown; four brothers, John Borchardt, Watertown, Mike (Debbie) Borchardt, Scandinavia; Bill (Jean) Borchardt, and George (Rhonda) Borchardt Jr., both of Watertown; one sister, Pam (Robert) Yager, Watertown; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Friday, Nov. 30, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Hafemeister Funeral Home, Watertown, and on Saturday, Dec. 1, from noon until the time of service at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown.

Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Reeseville, or the American Cancer Society.

Dorothy J. Kempff
Dorothy Johanna Kempff, died peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m., at the Joyce-Ryan Funeral Home, 5701 Odana Road, Madison. The Rev. A.L. Braunschweig will officiate. Burial will be at 3:15 p.m., in Graceland cemetery, Theinsville.

Mrs. Kempff was born on Oct. 27, 1917, in Reeseville, the daughter of Frank and Clara Loesch. She was married to William Kempff.

Mrs. Kempff lived most of her life in Reeseville, Milwaukee, and Madison. She was a resident for the past year at Sunny Hill Health Care Center. For many years she was a telephone sales representative for McKesson and Robbins and Yahr-Lange pharmaceutical suppliers. She enjoyed her religion, church choir, her garden, baking, and watching the birds. A very caring person, her life was dedicated to helping others, and she treasured the time spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Thomas Loesch; one daughter, Judie (Fred) Urfer; one sister, Ruth Loesch; four grandchildren, Dr. Randy (Ann) Heidel, Jennifer Heidel, Mark (Jeni) Urfer, and Jason Urfer; two great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Zachary Heidel; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Joyce-Ryan Funeral Home, Madison.

Carl J. Weiss
WEST BEND - Carl J. Weiss, 41, of 2402 Park Ave., Apt. No. 8, West Bend, died on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m., at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, LeRoy. The Rev. Charles Wester will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrew's cemetery, LeRoy.

Mr. Weiss was born on Oct. 29, 1960, in Waupun, the son of Donald and Therese (Oechsner) Weiss.

Mr. Weiss was a 1979 graduate of Mayville High School. He was a sales manager for Soerens Ford, Brookfield, formerly of EVS, Lomira and Royal Ford, West Bend. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, LeRoy.

Survivors include his parents, Donald and Therese Weiss, Mayville; one sister, Patricia (James R.) Koehn, Fond du Lac; three brothers, Stanley (Wendy) Weiss, Theresa, Dale (Heidi) Weiss, Mayville, and Arnold (Mary) Weiss, Fond du Lac; nieces and nephews, Ashley, Angela, Brittany, Natasha, Miranda, Jacob, and Nicholas; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arnold and Emilia Weiss, Andrew and Josephine Oechsner, and one sister, Barbara, in infancy.

Friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 29, from 9 a.m. until the time of service, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Andrew's restoration fund.

Marcella I. Derge
MAYVILLE - Marcella I. Derge, 86, of 235 Kekoskee St., Mayville, died on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at the Hope Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lomira.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. William Stark will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Mayville.

Mrs. Derge was born on March 10, 1915, in Hustisford, the daughter of Paul and Helena (Groth) Pieper. She was married on Oct. 11, 1952, to Reinhard Derge in Hustisford.

Mrs. Derge was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Survivors include one son, Loren (Mary) Derge, Theresa; two brothers, Melvin (Margaret) Pieper and Herbert Pieper, both of Hustisford; three grandchildren, Carissa, Nathan and Justin; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reinhard, in 1978; one daughter, Marleen, in 1993; two sisters, Mildred and Cora, and two brothers, Hilbert and Elmer.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Harry M. Frens
WAUPUN - Harry M. Frens, 78, of Waupun, died on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at his home.

The funeral was held on Monday, Nov. 26, at 10:30 a.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. Rick Boon officiated. Burial was in Forest Mound cemetery, Waupun.

Mr. Frens was born on Jan. 27, 1923, in Waupun, the son of Henry and Mary (Van Buren) Frens. He was married on April 24, 1942, to Grace Osinga.

Mr. Frens served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. The couple farmed in the Waupun area most of their life. He was a member of the First Reformed Church, Waupun.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Frens, Waupun; one son, Donald (Kristin) Frens, Waupun; one daughter, Susan Westhuis, Beaver Dam; four grandchildren, Bonnie Vis, Gloria (Brian) Weber, Sara (Mathew) Homan, and Curtis Frens; three great-grandchildren, Andrew Vis, Angelica Vis, and Alexia Weber; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Friends called on Sunday, Nov. 25, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun.

Daniel J. Balthazor
FOND DU LAC - Daniel J. Balthazor, 45, of 164 Boyd St., Fond du Lac, died on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at his residence.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 9:30 a.m., at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, Fond du Lac. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., at St. Patrick's Church, Fond du Lac. The Rev. John Radetski of Holy Family parish will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Fond du Lac.

Mr. Balthazor was born on March 28, 1956, in Fond du Lac, the son of Gerald and Rosemary (Gross) Balthazor. He was married to Debra Heimerl in August 1986.

Mr. Balthazor was a member of St. Patrick's Church-Holy Family Parish, Fond du Lac. For the past 15 years, he was employed by Pick-N-Save, Fond du Lac, and was currently the meat department manager for the Pioneer Road store.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Scott Lockwood, Kevin Balthazor and Ryan Balthazor, all at home; one granddaughter, Syrenna Snider, West Bend; his parents, Fond du Lac; five brothers, Bruce (Linda) Balthazor, Sheboygan, Alan Balthazor, Fond du Lac, Mark (Sandra) Balthazor, Fullerton, Calif., a twin, David Balthazor, Fond du Lac, and William Balthazor, Fond du Lac; his mother and father-in-law, Victor and Janet Heimerl, Beaver Dam; and one sister-in-law and her husband, Sherry (Everett) Kurtz, Beaver Dam.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and one niece, Julie Balthazor.

Friends may call on Monday, Nov. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, Fond du Lac. A parish vigil will be held on Monday, Nov. 26, at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established.

Helen F. Kaul
WATERTOWN - Helen F. Kaul, 98, of 402 Arthur St., Watertown, died on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at Watertown Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24, at noon, at St. Henry Catholic Church, Watertown. The Rev. Bernard Rott will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Kaul was born on March 24, 1903, in Watertown, the daughter of John and Emilie (Langer) Kreuziger. She was married on June 5, 1924, to Michael Kaul at St. Henry Catholic Church, Watertown.

Mrs. Kaul was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Watertown, its Christian Mothers, and its Altar Confraternity.

Survivors include two daughters, Sister Joan Emily SSND, Beaver Dam, and Bernadette (Steve) Annis, Watertown; two sons, Edward (Donna) Kaul, Watertown, and Thomas (Josephine) Kaul, Beaver Dam; nine grandchildren, David Kaul, Maureen Raabe, Julie Steil, Kathy Kaul, Mike Kaul, Margaret Starr, Doug Annis, Linda Anderson, and Lisa Johnson; 18 great-grandchildren, Tina, Bryan, Aaron, David, Hanna and Renee Raabe, Tim Ruenger, Brad Utteck, Jennifer and Pattie Kaul, Natalie and Katie Steil, Megan and Ryan Kaul, Natalie Annis, Colin Johnson, Brittany and Greg Anderson; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael, on July 31, 1967; one daughter, Catherine; two brothers, Leo and Herbert Kreuziger, and one sister in infancy.

Friends may call on Saturday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Henry Catholic Church, Watertown.
