Adolf La'Haye
Adolf "Al" La'Haye, 79, of 513 DeClark St., Beaver Dam. died on Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at noon, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. William Key will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mr. La'Haye was born on May 11, 1922, in Aachen, Germany, the son of Peter Allen and Josephine (Weber) La'Haye. He was married on June 6, 1972, to Dianne Pederson in Horicon.

Mr. La'Haye owned and managed Al La'Haye Steak House in Horicon for 13 years.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne La'Haye, Beaver Dam; four children, Cheryle (Robert) Duguay, Greenwood, Ind., Michael (Britt) La'Haye, Madison, Mark (Juanita) La'Haye, San Diego, Calif., and Peter (Mary) La'Haye, Beaver Dam; nine grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Friends may call on Monday, Nov. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Marjorie Froehlich
PORTAGE - Marjorie Froehlich, 80, of Portage, formerly of rural Pardeeville, died on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Divine Savior Nursing Home, Portage.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria. The Rev. A. Ronald Helgerson will officiate. Burial will be in the Cambria cemetery.

Mrs. Froehlich was born on July 29, 1921, in Dodge County, the daughter of August and Mabel (Henning) Lindert. She was married on Dec. 16, 1943, to Loren Froehlich at the Reformed Church, Reeseville.

Mrs. Froehlich and her husband lived in Pardeeville in their early married years. They moved to Beaver Dam for a short period of time, then back onto the family farm in rural Pardeeville. She was employed with South Beaver Dam Elementary School as a cook and later as a nursing assistant at Columbia County Care Center, Wyocena, until her retirement. She moved to Portage after her husbands death on June 5, 1996, and resided there since. She was a member of the Portage United Methodist Church and a former member of Rosedale Church and its Ladies Aid.

She will be sadly missed and mourned by three daughters, Kay (Gus) Selbach, Portage, Sandy (David) McMahon, Lyndon Station, and Joyce (Alex) Finkenstein, Portage; two grandchildren, Tod Froehlich, Portage, and Patrick McMahon, Philadelphia, Pa.; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy "Dolly" (Willard) Paul, Beaver Dam, and Muriel (Peter) Nehring, Columbus; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Loren, on June 5, 1996.

Friends may call on Monday, Nov. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria, and on Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Betty L. Lindeman
WATERTOWN - Betty L. Lindeman, 63, of Watertown, died on Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at Watertown Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m., at the Pederson Funeral Home, Watertown. The Rev. John Boehringer will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Lindeman was born on July 12, 1938, in the town of Courtland, the daughter of Edwin and Edna (Bauer) Schwoch. She was married on Dec. 31, 1973, to Robert Lindeman in Long Beach, Calif.

Mrs. Lindeman was a 1956 graduate of Beaver Dam High School, and a 1961 graduate of Lincoln School of Practical Nursing, Chicago. She was a residential aide at Bethesda Lutheran Home from 1986 to 1999. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Watertown.

Survivors include one daughter, Rita (Kevin) Van Hierden, Watertown; three grandchildren, Zachery, Crystal and Courtney, Watertown; one sister, Evelyn Schmitt, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, on June 5, 1979; four brothers, Harold, Edwin Jr., Alfred and Richard; one sister, Mildred, and a number of other relatives.

Friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Pederson Funeral Home, Watertown.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Watertown.

Lyle F. Gerth
MAYVILLE - Lyle Frederick Gerth, 78, of 325 N. Henninger St., Mayville, died on Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Geoffrey Hoy will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Mayville.

Mr. Gerth was born on Feb. 14, 1923, in Hustisford, the son of Fred and Martha (Braemer) Gerth. He was married on Nov. 21, 1942, to Louise Schellpfeffer at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Mr. Gerth farmed in the town of Williamstown for 52 years. He was also employed at the Pillsbury Cannery and Mayville Metal, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the A.A.L. Lutheran Brotherhood.

Survivors include one son, David (Beverly) Gerth, Kekoskee; three daughters, Carol (Lloyd) Prost, West Bend, Grace (David) Strassman, Brownsville, and Nancy (Steven) Feucht, Iron Ridge; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred (Darlene) Gerth, Bowman, N.D., and Gene (Elaine) Gerth, Iron Ridge; three sisters, Evelyn Qualman, Lomira, Ella Giese, Minot, N.D., and Nina Hannegan, Satellite Beach, Fla.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise, in February 1995; one sister, and three brothers-in-law.

Friends may call on Monday, Nov. 12, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Cottrill Funeral Home, Mayville, and on Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Stephen A. Engelke
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Stephen A. Engelke, 49, of Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of Columbus, died unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m., at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, Sun Prairie. Burial will be in Sun Prairie Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Engelke was born on Nov. 27, 1951, in Columbus. He was married on June 28, 1975, to RoxAnne Schmitt in Columbus.

Mr. Engelke was a 1969 graduate of Columbus High School, He graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and received his master's degree from the University of Minnesota. He was employed with Nuclear Management Co., division of Xcel Energy.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, RoxAnne; loving sons, Barry and Brady, Minneapolis, Minn.; his mother, Ethelyn Stadler, Sun Prairie; four sisters, Carol (James) Fowler, Sun Prairie, Mary (Joe) Pate, Shell Knob, Mo., Beverly (Steve) Drinka, New Richmond, and Monica (Terry) Reed, DeForest; one aunt, Evelyn Nordness, Sun Prairie; five nieces, Tami, Jodi, Abby, April and Traci; one nephew, Nick; mother-in-law, Rosalind Zeidler, Columbus; god-daughter, Stephanie Rosin, Green Bay; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur; step-father, Walter Stadler; one sister, Cathy Bram; one niece, Wendy Fowler, and one uncle, Lawrence Nordness.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, Sun Prairie.

Ruth M. Rinkle
RHINELANDER - Ruth M. Rinkle, 84, of Rhinelander, formerly of Waupun, died on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at the Peterson Health Care Center, Rhinelander.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m., at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. Richard Lawrence will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Mound cemetery, Waupun.

Miss Rinkle was born on March 20, 1917, in Waupun, the daughter of Adolf and Lily (Kohl) Goppelt.

Miss Rinkle's parents were the former owners of the Goppelt Grocery, Feed and Grain Store, Waupun. She was a graduate of Waupun High School. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Wart-Burg in Iowa, and her master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She went on to teach at various different schools in the Madison area, Randall Elementary, Madison Memorial High School and Thomas Jefferson Middle School. Following retirement she moved to Minocqua, where she bought a log cabin overlooking the peaceful and serene Crescent Lake. She enjoyed her time with family and her two best friends, Shadow and Maija. She was also employed with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, teaching high speed Morse code to Chinese and American personnel. She was a former member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun.

Survivors include one son, John (Tammy) Rinkle, Minocqua; one brother, Vern (Bertie) Goppelt, Pittsburgh, Pa.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Adolf Goppelt, and one sister-in-law.

Friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun.

Herbert A. Behring
Herbert Behring, 79, of Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at the Larson Home, Columbus.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 1:30 p.m., at the First Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. the Rev. Paul Lindau will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held at Ponderosa, 1520 N. Spring St., Beaver Dam.

Mr. Behring was born on May 25, 1922, in the Lowell township, Dodge County, the son of Frank and Ada (Guenther) Behring. He was married to Lorraine Rehfeldt on Sept. 6, 1944, at First Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Behring farmed all of his life on the family farms in the Lowell township. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam; the Lutheran Brotherhood of the church and was an active member of the church's dart ball team. He was also an avid fan of both local and national sports teams.

He will be sadly missed and mourned by two sons, Donald (Linda) Behring, Beaver Dam, and Dan (Ginger) Behring, Beaver Dam; one daughter, Beverly (Robert) Lepple, Juneau; nine grandchildren, Colleen (Jonathan) Dowe, Granger, Ind., Allan Behring, Madison, Lisa Behring, Milwaukee, Ryan Behring, LaCrosse, Jeanette (fiance Doug Jonart) Behring, Hanahan, S.C., Jason (special friend Nicole Fitzsimmons) Behring, Beaver Dam, Steve (Kelly) Lepple, Juneau, Stacey (fiance Adam Kuehn) Lepple, Juneau, and Shawn Lepple, Juneau; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Morgan Lepple, Juneau; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Rehfeldt, Beaver Dam, and Edgar (Virginia) Rehfeldt, Columbus; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ada Behring; his wife, Lorraine Behring, on Oct. 7, 1992; two sisters, Adahlia Westphal and Elda Lenz, and one grandson, Jonathan Behring.

Friends may call on Sunday, Nov. 11, from noon until 1:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Lavon E. Davison
PUEBLO WEST, Colo. - Lavon E. Davison, 79, of Pueblo West, Colo., went to be with the Lord on Nov. 8, 2001.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m., at Imperial Funeral Home Chapel, 5450 Highway 78 West, Pueblo, Colo. The Rev. Mark Hayes will officiate. Military honors provided by the Pueblo Ritual Team. At her request, cremation with no viewing.

Ms. Davison became a registered nurse through the Norwegian American Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Ill., which led her into a life long career in nursing. She received the Jubilee of Liberty medal from the D-Day Freedom Fighters after serving as a 2nd Lieutenant during World War II. She was involved with the Women's Veterans Memorial. She enjoyed sewing and square dancing. She belonged to the sons of Norway, various square dancing clubs and the American Legion.

Survivors include one daughter, Lynne (Loren) Lucht, Red Wing, Minn.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Bryan) Luedeke, Wichita, Kan., Jarrell "Jeb", and Joelle, all of Red Wing, Minn.; and special friend, Bill Hill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Agnes Elvod, and one brother, Adrian Elvod.

Memorial may be made to the Crown of Life Lutheran Church of Pueblo West.

Clayton M. Krueger
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Clayton Marcel Krueger, 70, died on Thursday Nov. 8, 2001, in Vanderbilt Hospital, Nashville, Tenn.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at 1:30 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church, Burns, Tenn. The Rev. John Gierke will officiate. The remains were cremated.

Mr. Krueger was a native of Manchester, Wis. He was the son of the Edwin and Margaret Emily (Spielvogel) Krueger.

Mr. Krueger was a retired restaurant and grocery store manager and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Burns, Tenn.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce D. (Stofflet) Krueger, Dickson, Tenn.; two daughters, Donna Mae Kovalaski, Horicon, and Mary Ann Bartelt, Nashville, Tenn.

The Taylor Funeral Home Inc, 214 N. Main St., Dickson, Tenn., is serving the family.

Memorial may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church, Burn, Tenn.

Carl F. Korth
MAYVILLE - Carl F. Korth, 85, of 1305 Dayton St., Mayville, died on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 1:30 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Revs. Edward Blonski and William Stark will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Mayville. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post No. 69.

Mr. Korth was born on May 16, 1916, the son of Carl and Minnie (Luehring) Korth. He was married on Jan. 28, 1950, to Betty Miller in Mayville.

Mr. Korth was employed by the Mayville Shoe Factory and Mayville Metal. He managed the Mayville American Legion Post No. 69 clubhouse for 20 years. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army Combat Engineers. He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville, and the Mayville American Legion Post No. 69.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Korth, Mayville; one brother, Frederick (Rosina) Korth, West Bend; one brother-in-law, Louis Mueller, Mayville; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by four sisters.

Friends may call on Sunday, Nov. 11, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.

Margaret Duffy
COLUMBUS - Margaret Duffy, of Columbus, died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at Hospice Care, Madison.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Nov. 12, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus. The Rev. Bruce Hennington will officiate. Burial will be in St. Jerome cemetery, Columbus.

Mrs. Duffy was born on Feb. 14, 1909, in Columbus, the daughter of William and Mary (Mulligan) Montague. She was married on Aug. 24, 1935, to Thomas Francis Duffy in Columbus.

Mrs. Duffy graduated from Columbus High School and completed her education at Columbia County Teachers College, Milwaukee Downer School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She taught school for eight years in the rural schools of Dodge and Dane counties where her responsibilities included not only the education and preparation of her students, but also keeping the stove burning to heat the classroom in the winter months. She resided with a local family while teaching in these schools and frequently walked a distance of 10 miles home on the weekends to see her family. She also devoted 12 years as a teacher at St. Jerome Catholic School, Columbus.

After marriage she worked many years assisting her husband in the livestock business that he and his brother Joe started in 1928. She was actively involved in the Columbus community until her recent illness. She served on the hospital board for seven years, overseeing the planning and construction of the new hospital. She was a lifetime member of St. Jerome Congregation, St. Jerome Altar Society, and the St. Jerome Choir. She also was a longtime member of the Columbus Women's Civic Club, Columbus Community Hospital Auxiliary, the Dodge County Area Retired Teacher's Association and Dot-Dash Homemakers. Her friends and family knew they could always count on her generosity and kind spirit whenever needed.

Her greatest contribution to her family was her extensive research and authorization of two volumes of the Montague and Duffy family history and genealogy. Even though she devoted most of her life as a mother, grandmother, writer, teacher and volunteer, she also found great joy in her garden and her flowers. She derived immense pleasure and satisfaction by feeding and studying the birds and wildlife that visited her daily. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad. She loved music and drama and attended many concerts locally and elsewhere.

Survivors include one son, John (Joan) Duffy and daughter, Mary Ellen Duffy, Madison; six grandchildren, Shawn Duffy, Erin (Todd) Larson, Patrick (Geri) Duffy, Ryan Duffy, Kathleen Chiles, and Casey Chiles; three sister-in-law, Genevieve Rosenthal, Beaver Dam, Jane Duffy, Columbus, and Donna Duffy, Florida; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ellen, and brother-in-law, Ed Cullen; her brother, James, and sister-in-law, Jane Montague, her brother, John, and sister-in-law, Helen Montague.

Friends may call on Monday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus.

Memorials may be made to St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus, or Columbus Community Hospital.

The Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, is serving the family.
