Cmdr. William Victor Bast
Cmdr. William Victor Bast, 55, Moreno Valley, CA, formerly of Oconto Falls, died early Sunday morning, June 11, 2000, at Moreno Valley Medical Center, as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident last Friday evening. He was born March 4, 1945 in Oconto Falls to Victor E. and Geraldine Jerry Levernois Bast and attended Oconto Falls schools, graduating from high school with the class of 1963. As a young boy Bill was active in scouting and attained the status of Eagle Scout. He went on to attend the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD and graduated with the class of 1968. Following in his father's footsteps he became a military pilot. He was married to the former Sue Van of Abrams. Bill served in the U.S. Navy for 29 years achieving the rank of Commander and lived in Sopain, Florida and California. In 1984, he married Mary Cooper-Olson of Shawano and later they divorced. Bill was currently employed as a radar specialist with the U.S. Custom Service. He was a member of St. Christopher's Catholic Church in California and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion. Survivors are his father, Victor E. Bast, Oconto Falls; his two sons, Scott Bast, St. Louis, MO; Chad Bast, Elgin, IL; one brother, Victor W. Diane Bast, Seattle, WA; four sisters, Ruth Wayne Zemke, Fullerton, CA; Margaret Maggie Joe Jones, Iola; Vicki Bill Wendricks, Waynesboro, MS; Gloria Bob Edwards, Green Bay; four stepchildren, Dan Olson, Minneapolis, MN; Scott Olson, WY; Michael Olson, San Francisco, CA; Lynn Scott, NC; two aunts and one uncle, Mrs. Loretta Lemirande, Delores and Bob Skarban all of Oconto Falls; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jerry Bast on July 11, 1993. Friends called at Jones Funeral Service, Oconto Falls. Knights of Columbus service was held. Mass of Christian Burial was conducted 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2000 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Oconto Falls. Burial in the church cemetery.

Michael Bingenheimer
Michael Bingenheimer, 52, died with his family at his side at his home in Townsend, WI, on Tuesday, June 13, 2000. He was born in Milwaukee on July 30, 1947, the son of Norman and Geraldine Dober Bingenheimer. After graduating from Muskego High School, Michael worked for Pepsi-Cola for 23 years. After marrying Cheryl Doege on May 19, 1979, they moved to Townsend, which Michael had always wanted to do. While there, Michael worked as the Townsend/ Lakewood route carrier for the Green Bay Press Gazette and also spent time at what he considered to be his most enjoyable job, Mike's Lawn Care. Michael has always had a true love of the Northwoods, and loved living here and raising two of his three children here. While he loved the area and his work, the most important love of his life was his family and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, Townsend; children, Steve of Milwaukee; Ryan of Green Bay; Kristy of Townsend; mother, Geraldine of Townsend; sisters-in-law, Sue Doege, Wauwatosa, WI; Joanne Jim Kolton, Milwaukee; brother-in-law, Don Chris Doege, Hales Corners, WI. Michael is further survived by uncles; an aunt; one nephew; five nieces; cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman. Private services for Michael were held at Suminski Funeral Home in Wabeno.

Maxine J. 'Mickey' Sinclair
Maxine J. 'Mickey' Sinclair, 64, 3571 County Line Rd., De Pere, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at home. The daughter of the late John and Mae (Johnson) Nedeau was born April 25, 1936 in Cooks, Mich. She married William Sinclair on April 28, 1956 in Appleton. Maxine was a rural mail carrier for many years until her retirement. Mrs. Sinclair was the local president of the Rural Mail Carriers Association. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and playing cards. She is survived by her husband, William; four sons, Brad and Cindy Charlotte, N.C., Greg and Yvonne of South Lyon, Mich., Bryan and special friend Carol of Fond du Lac, and Mike and Kim of White Lake, Mich.; three daughters Jody and Bill McTurner of Canton, Mich., Lisa and Dennis Steward of Yaounde, Cameron, Africa, and Julie and Dan Gerety, Madison, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters, and two sisters-in-law. Preceded in death by parents and four brothers, Jim, Junior, Robert and Ted. Friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere, Wis, on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. (Central Standard Time). Funeral Service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 1 to 4 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) on Tuesday at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique, Mich. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 4 p.m. Tuesday with burial to follow in the Inwood Township Cemetery in Cooks, Mich.

Mrs. Ceil Pavlat
Mrs. Ceil Pavlat, age 91, died Thursday evening June 15, 2000 at Rennes Health Care with her devoted daughters and family at her side. She was born Ceil Clifford on July 27, 1908 in Green Bay. On Sept. 7, 1935, She married Raymond Pavlat. He preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1952. Ceil graduated from Green Bay Business College and then worked for the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. for 40 years before retiring in 1970. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be deeply missed. She enjoyed playing the piano and all music, family trips up north, family vacations to Florida and trip to Montreal Canada for visits with her granddaughter and family. She is survived by her beloved twin daughters and their husbands, Suzie and Ken Van Lanen; Sarah and Don Hyska, all of Green Bay; two granddaughters, Debbie and John Pominville; Montreal, Canada; Peggy Seim, Green Bay; three great grandchildren; Jennifer Seim, Green Bay; Jason and Christine Pominville, Montreal, Canada; one niece, Audrey Cropsey, Green Bay. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charles and Ella Pavlat; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Gladys and Bud Cropsey; one nephew: Gene Cropsey. Friends may call at St. Joseph Catholic Church 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Mike Ingold officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
We would like to thank all the staff of Rennes Health Care for their kindness, love, and care. In this world she was only one but to us she was the world.

Donald R. Ness
Donald R. Ness, 64, 3355 North Overland Road, Oneida, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at home surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. The son of the late Gustave and Agnes (Cross) Ness was born June 11, 1936 in Oneida. On December 2, 1961, he married the former Anna Beth Ninham in Green Bay. Mr. Ness had worked for Gauthier and Sons Construction Company for 35 years. He was a longtime member of Operating Engineers Local 139. Don enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He also enjoyed his hobbies of working with wood and playing the guitar. He is best known for his sense of humor that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Annabeth, their five children and their families; Gary and Lisa Ness and their children, Christopher, Nathan, Adam, Melissa, and Jamel, Karen Adams and her special friend, Lew Boyd, and children, Kay (Keith Katch), Tara (Latakeh Smith) and Jonathan; Mitzi and James “Jerimiah” Mineau and their children, Jamie and Britney; Debbie and Les Reinhold and their children, Jeffrey (Jenny Tillman), Bonnie, and Jennifer; Sheila and David Keehan and their children Crystal, Scarlet, Misty, Skyler, and Jakob. Further, survived by three great grandchildren; Sean, Karissa and Vaniecia; his three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ervin and Pauline Ness, Milwaukee, Ronald and Marilyn Ness, Navarino, and Gus Ness, Seymour; two sisters, and one, brother-in-law, Mildred and Clarence Peterson, Green Bay, and Margie Crapeau, Milwaukee; nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law, Marvin Crapeau, one sister-in-law, Darlene Ness, one grandson, Matthew, and one niece, Tammy. Friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 No. Tenth Street, De Pere from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church in Seymour, until time of service. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Lonnie Johnson, officiating. Burial to follow in Assembly of God Cemetery, Oneida.
The family extends a special thank you to Bellin Three Med for their loving care and support. A heartfelt acknowledgement is also extended to his buddy Harold Ninham and Don’s very special caretakers Debra Ninham and Gina Vande Hei as well as Linda Van Leishot of Hospice.

Harry A. Katch Sr.
Harry A. Katch Sr., 85, longtime Green Bay resident, died Thursday June 15, 2000 following a long illness. He was born October 4, 1914 in Angelica, Wis. to the late John and Ida (Luecke) Katch. On September 10, 1940 he married Dorothy A. Paluch at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Krakow, Wis. She preceded him in death on June 18, 1990. Harry was employed as an automotive salesman in the Green Bay area for many years. He enjoyed hunting and playing cards with his family and friends. Harry enjoyed the time spent with his family; especially those times spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a longtime member of St. Jude Parish. Survivors include three children and their spouses, Carole and Ben Clark-Temecula, Calif., Harry Katch Jr., Barbara and Tom Thomas, all of Green Bay; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Laura and Don Adams, Steven and Kristen Thomas, Lisa and John Lokken, Sheila and Tom Homberg, Halvor and Kristie Katch, Brian and Linda Clark, Melinda Clark, Ricky Clark; seven great grandchildren; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Chester and Betty Katch, Green Bay, Marion Katch, Seymour; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; three sisters, Dorothy Hartleben, Elizabeth Zielinski and Eleanor Osiecki and five brothers, James, Joseph, Matthias, Frank and Robert Katch; one sister-in-law, Helen Katch, Shawano. Friends may call at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1420 Division St., from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Ron Belitz officiating. Burial will be in Assumption B.V.M. Cemetery in Pulaski.
The Katch family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Manor Care East for all their care and concern for Harry. A memorial fund has been established in his memory. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Arthur W. Wadzinski
Arthur W. Wadzinski was born into eternal life on June 11, 2000. He was born August 17, 1920 to the late William and Eva (Schmidt) Wadzinski in Manchester, Wisconsin. Arthur was the beloved husband of Violet (Hahlbeck) Wadzinski and caring father of James (Mary), Kathy, Patricia, Steven (Michelle), Cynthia, and Phillip (Beth). He was the loving grandfather of Carrie (Tom), Nicole, John (Kerry), Jeremy, William, Reanna, Alyson, Kelsey, Alex and Eva and doting great-grandfather of Arianna and Michael. His dear sister, Dorothy Korzilius, and his life long friend, Dr. G.V. Herring, also touched his life. Brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many dear and cherished friends further survive him. Arthur attended Northwestern Preparatory School and College and was ordained with his Doctor of Divinity Degree from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary--Thiensville, Wisconsin in 1945. He was a minister for Christ Lutheran Church in Denmark, Wisconsin and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Henrysville, Wisconsin until 1960. He continued to perform many wedding ceremonies after his retirement from the ministry. Arthur and the late R.O. Miller were gentlemen farmers growing produce in Shiocton and Denmark, Wisconsin from 1954 through 1961. He also drove school bus for the School District of Denmark from 1952 until 1961. Dr. G.V. Herring, Charles Skornicka and Arthur began the Denmark Junior Youth Baseball League in 1955 that evolved into the Little League program in Denmark. He purchased Pecard Chemical Company, a manufacturer of leather dressing and preservatives, in 1954. Arthur’s sons, Steven (President) and Phillip (Plant Manager) are now in charge of operation of Pecard. After earning his teaching credentials from St. Norbert College and his Master’s Degree form the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Arthur taught German, Latin, and American History at Green Bay Preble High from 1960 until his retirement in 1988. Arthur was instrumental in the formation of the Green Bay Education Association. He was a charter member of the Board of Directors and Negotiation Team for the GBEA. Upon his retirement from the School District of Green Bay in 1988 and from Pecard in 1994, Arthur enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing. Arthur and Vi enjoyed traveling and the warmth of the Florida sunshine in the winter. Arthur enjoyed a life long love affair with automobiles, boats and snowmobiles and “testing” their performance capabilities. Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, June 14 at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason Street, Green Bay, between 4-9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 120 South Henry Street, Green Bay, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Funeral at 11 a.m. at the church with officiants Rev. Dave Hatch and Rev. Arthur Callesen. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. A Memorial Fund to benefit Christian education has been established in Arthur’s name.

The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to Arthur’s special caregivers, Sharon, Betty and Judy. These kind women have contributed greatly to Arthur and Violet’s care and comfort in the past year. Thank you especially to Sharon for the love and care provided the last ten years. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to Green Bay Fire and Rescue for the thoughtful and gentle care provided.
