Amanda W. Neis
Amanda W. Neis, 94, of Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002.

The funeral will be held on Friday, March 1, at 10 a.m., at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau. The Rev. Roger Grosnick will officiate. Burial will be in Juneau cemetery.

Mrs. Neis was born on Jan. 23, 1908, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Richard and Linda (Pieper) Rose. She was married to Evert Neis.

Mrs. Neis was a longtime member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Oak Grove.

Survivors include one daughter, Genevieve (George) Frontz, Winter Haven, Fla.; two granddaughters, Amy Block and Ann (Shawn) Mielke; two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Collin Mielke; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Evert, in 1984; one sister, Frieda Haase, and one brother, Richard Rose Jr.

Friends may call on Friday, March 1, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau.

Arnold Kobow
RIPON - Arnold Kobow, 89, of Ripon, formerly of Fox Lake, died on Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at the Ripon Medical Center.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake. The Rev. Jack Harle will officiate. A fellowship luncheon will immediately follow the services at the Robert W. Ginther American Legion Post 521, Fox Lake. Burial will be on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 1:30 p.m., in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mr. Kobow was born on March 27, 1912, in Cumberland, the son of Emil and Amelia (Schmeling) Kobow. He was married on Dec. 10, 1938, to Elda Schmidt in Fox Lake.

Mr. Kobow farmed in the town of Trenton near Fox Lake and later was employed with the Fox Lake Oil Company for several years.

Survivors include one son, Lynn (Marion) Kobow, Ripon; four grandsons, Brian (special friend, Orie) Kobow, Douglas Kobow, Jeffrey (Vonda) Kobow and James Kobow; one great-granddaughter, Victoria Kobow; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elda Kobow, on Nov. 21, 1982, and one daughter, Myrna, on May 3, 1995.

Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 28, from 10 a.m,. until the time of service at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake.

Carlton W. Dommisse
WAUPUN - Carlton "Cully" W. Dommisse, 61, of Waupun, died on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m., at the Wesley Center, 199 E. Jefferson St., Waupun. The Revs. Kenneth Spence, Doris Hanson, David Parrish and Harold Goldzung will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton, with full military honors.

Mr. Dommisse was born on Jan. 3, 1941, in Waupun, the son of Jacob and Edna (Anderson) Dommisse. He was married on Dec. 30, 1959, to Joyce Harrington in Waupun.

Mr. Dommisse was a 1959 graduate of Markesan High School. He attended Yale and Harvard universities where he studied Chinese and Mandarin languages. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. He was a translator for the Air Force in Chinese and Vietnamese during the Vietnam War, and received several distinguished awards and medals. He and his wife were the owners and operators of C.J. Rock Shop, Waupun, for the past 23 years. He was a charter member since 1981, of the Waupun Kiwanis Club, a past president and most recently the secretary of the club, and a Key Club advisor for many years. He was involved in several community activities; Horicon Marsh Nature Center, site coordinator for the 21st First Century Grant, Tatu instructor for area schools, the Just Say No Club and an AODA coordinator. He was on the board of directors for tourism for the city of Waupun.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Joyce Dommisse, Waupun; two daughters, Cheryl (Stephen) Kain, and Dawn Breckenridge, both of Waupun; two sons, Michael Dommisse, Waupun, and Kevin (Dawn) Dommisse, McFarland; nine grandchildren, Amber Wilson, Samantha and Tyler Breckenridge, Jacob, Paul, Luke, Ryan and Caswell Dommisse, and Joshua Kain; one brother, Brian Dommisse, Waupun; six sisters, Carol (Paul) Vines, Waupun, Karen (Jerry) McDonald, South Byron, Connie Baasch, Fond du Lac, Sandra (Daniel) Hillary, Whatridge, Colo., Ruth Boettcher, Westminister, Colo., and Donna Pluim, Waupun; one uncle, Nick (Jean) Dommisse, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Darlene Vande Streek, Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Lucian and Esther Harrington, and two brother-in-laws, Jerome Vande Streek and Clifford Harrington.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Thursday, Feb. 28, from noon until the time of service at the Wesley Center, Waupun.

Betty M. Lueck
SAINT CLOUD, Minn. - Betty Mae Lueck, 75, died on Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Saint Cloud, Minn.

The funeral was held on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at the Peterson Johnson Funeral Home, Milaca, Minn. The Rev. Jeanette Lueck officiated. Burial was in Forest Hill cemetery, Milaca, Minn.

Mrs. Lueck was born on May 27, 1926, in Milaca, Minn., the daughter of Robert and Alice (Cunningham) Rowland. She was married on April 6, 1950, to Martin Lueck in Minneapolis.

Mrs. Lueck attended schools in Milaca, Minn., and graduated high school in 1943. She and her husband resided in Robbinsdale, Crystal and Maple Grove, Minn., until 1970, when they moved to Milaca, Minn. She worked at Northwestern Costume House for a long time then manages the Garment Factory in Onamia, Minn., until 1978. She then went into real estate, founding Rum River Realty.

Survivors include four daughters, Carol Kendall, Princeton, Zoe Majerus, Milaca, LuJean (Larry) Fetchenhier, Wasilla, Alaska, and Wynnie Lueck, Brooklyn Park; four sons, Gary Lee (Judie) Sr., Columbus, Vaughn Lueck, Buffalo, Minn., Keith (Noelle) Sumner, Maine, and Jay (Holly) Brainerd; 23 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and one grandson, Jeff Kendall.

Mark A. Schaefer
JUNEAU - Mark A. Schaefer, 53, of 199 Home Road, Juneau, died on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Clearview North Nursing Home, Juneau.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m., at Clearview North Chapel, Juneau. The Rev. William Carter will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran cemetery, Brownsville.

Mr. Schaefer was born on Feb. 22, 1948, in Fond du Lac, the son of Walter and Lilllian (Lentz) Schaefer.

Survivors include one sister, Jacqueline Berry, Shorewood, and one brother, Ronald Schaefer, Fond du Lac.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Monday, Feb. 25, from 1 p.m. until the time of the services at Clearview North Chapel, Juneau.

Memorials may be made to Special Olympics.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.

John E. Daniels
SAGOLA, Mich. - John E. Daniels, 70, of W7974 Leeman Road, Sagola, Mich., died on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m., at St. Rose Catholic Church, Channing, Mich.

Mr. Daniels was born on Aug. 8, 1932, in Channing, Mich., the son of George Robert and Lucille (Radell) Daniels.

Mr. Daniels worked at John Deere Horicon Works for 28 years, until retiring in 1990. He then moved to the Sagola, Mich., area. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Channing, Mich. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was fascinated with trains of all sizes.

Survivors include his companion, Maxine Beneke; two sons, Jeffrey (Brenda) Daniels, and Randall (Tabatha) Daniels, both of Beaver Dam; one daughter, Luann Daniels, Portage; two brothers, George Robert (Mary) Daniels, Channing, Mich., and James (Florence) Daniels, Wakefield, Mich.; two grandchildren, Matthew Daniels and Nicole Daniels; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two sons, John and Robert Daniels.

The Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich., is serving the family.

Twyla Shute
Twyla Shute, 66, of 135 Haskell St., Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Lindner will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Shute was born on March 22, 1935, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Russell and Leona (Rahn) Cook. She was married on Feb. 27, 1954, to Ervin Shute at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Shute was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Most recently she was an in-home daycare provider, was a CNA at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau, and the Lakeview Nursing Home, Beaver Dam. She was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include her husband, Ervin Shute, Beaver Dam; one daughter, Faith (Martin) Roedl, Beaver Dam; one son, Gary Shute, Beaver Dam; three grandchildren, Leann, Marty, and Kenneth; four great-grandchildren; three nephews, Russell (Helen) Galston, Rick Galston and Jeff Galston, all of Sun Prairie; one great-nephew, Patrick (Lisa) Klatt, Beaver Dam; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Connie, in 1986.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Thursday, Feb. 21, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Richard E. Mertz
WAUPUN - Richard E. Mertz, 72, of Waupun, died on Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. Kenneth Loehrke will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Mound cemetery, Waupun. The American Legion Post 210 will assist in the graveside services.

Mr. Mertz was born on Jan. 10, 1930, in Rubicon, the son of Earl and Hazel (Klink) Mertz. He was married on June 10, 1952, to Shirley Frank. He was married on Jan. 6, 1956, to Luann Becker in Dubuque, Iowa. He was married on Sept. 17, 1983, to Donna Hoffman McDowell in Waupun.

Mr. Mertz and his second wife resided in Waupun all their married life. He drove truck for Bird Trucking, Waupun, for 41 years. He and his third wife lived in Waupun all their married life. Following his retirement, he was a crossing guard in Waupun for 13 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Waupun American Legion Post 210, and the Waupun VFW Post 6709, of which he had been post commander for the past 13 years.

Survivors include her wife, Donna Mertz, Waupun; two sons, Richard A. Mertz, Oconomowoc, and Michael (special friend Katie Rydquist) Mertz, Beaver Dam; two daughters, Debbie Court, Waupaca, and Diane (Richard) Kayser, Little Chute; one stepson, Gregory (Gwen) McDowell, Waupun; one stepdaughter, Kim (special friend Alan Gavanda) McDowell, Waupun; four grandchildren, Nathan Mertz, Amy Kaiser, Richard Kayser, and Daryl Court Jr.; two step-grandchildren, Tierney McDowell, and Trista McDowell; one brother, Tom Mertz, Port Washington; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife, Luann; one son, Robert Mertz; one sister, Donna Sorum, and one step-granddaughter, Brea McDowell.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Thursday, Feb. 21, from 1 p.m. until the time of service.

Francis Robinson
FOX LAKE - Francis Robinson, 84, of W10543 Meadow Lane, Fox Lake, died on Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Burial was on Monday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m., in Dayton Corner's cemetery, Richland Center.

Mr. Robinson was born on Dec. 6, 1918, in Wisconsin, the son of Frank and Opal (Collins) Robinson. He was married to Hazel (Dary) Copperal.

Survivors include nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There was no visitation.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, served the family.

Horace S. Porter
FALL RIVER - Horace S. Porter, 86, of Fall River, died on Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Feb. 18, at 10:30 a.m., at Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus. The Rev. James Bolda will officiate. Burial will be in the Fall River cemetery.

Mr. Porter was born on Aug. 21, 1915, the son of Sidney and Alta (Wood) Porter. He was married to Viola Lange.

Mr. Porter was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Fall River. He was a lifelong Columbus area resident. He worked for the former Borden Co., Columbus, for many years. He had a service station in Fall River for many years, then worked for Rockwell, Randolph, retiring in 1976.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara (Ronald) Kuhn, Columbus; one son, Larry (Linda) Porter, Fall River; one step-son, David (Sherri) Norenberg, Beaver Dam; one step-daughter, Patricia (LeRoy) Miller, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Lawrence (Alice) Porter, Rio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Viola, on Oct. 4, 1998; one son, Daune Porter in 1955, and one nephew, James Porter.

Friends may call on Monday, Feb. 18, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus.

Merlin A. Feller
IRON RIDGE - Merlin A. Feller, 81, of W3230 Highway 33, Iron Ridge, died on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Browns Corners. The Rev. Kenneth Roever will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Browns Corners.

Mr. Feller was born on Oct. 6, 1920, in the town of Hubbard, the son of Ernest and Edna (Breitkreutz) Feller. He was married on June 2, 1943, to Eileen Dewitz at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Browns Corners. He was married on March 3, 1962, to Phyllis Giese at St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Mr. Feller farmed for Edward Wenger. He was employed at Red Rocket Products, Horicon, he retired from Mayville Limestone Inc., where he was employed for 24 years. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Browns Corners, and caretaker for 60 years of the church property. He was a St. John's trustee for many years and was involved in other church activities. He enjoyed camping, spending time with his family, watching his sons and grandsons race at the Dodge County Fairgrounds and working many hours in his shop.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Feller, Iron Ridge; seven children, Dennis (Carol) Feller, Iron Ridge, Ronald (Paulette) Feller, Horicon; Lois (Jim) Thorn, Iron Ridge, Judith Feller, Milwaukee, Joyce (Gordie) Griepentrog, Mayville, Chuck (Beth) Feller, Iron Ridge, and Michael (Sue) Feller, Iron Ridge; sisters and brothers, Elda Ewert, Horicon, Alvin (Alice) Feller, Iron Ridge, Victor Feller, Woodland, Leslie (Arlene) Feller, Mayville, and Lucille ((Edward) Collien, Theresa, 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Eileen, in 1958; one son, Larry Giese; one brother, Erwin Feller, two infant brothers, Ray and Harvey, and one son-in-law, Eugene Biertzer.

Friends may call on Friday, Feb. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, and on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. John's Church, Browns Corners.
