Otto A. Kamphuis
WAUPUN - Otto A. Kamphuis, 87, of Waupun, died on Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Friday, March 1, at 11 a.m., at the First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Kenneth VanDeGriend will officiate. Burial will be in Alto cemetery.

Mr. Kamphuis was born on Jan. 29, 1915, in the town of Alto, the son of Jake and Minnie (Redeker) Kamphuis. He was married on Sept. 10, 1943, to Ramona Hoekstra in Alto.

Mr. Kamphuis and his wife resided in the Waupun area all their married life. He farmed in the surrounding area, worked at the Ideal Shoe Factory, and retired from Mercury Marine, Fond du Lac. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun, where he served as an elder, Sunday school teacher, and as a board member of the Christian School.

Survivors include three sons, Byron (Kathy) Kamphuis, Waupun, Orville (Gail) Kamphuis, Fond du Lac, and Alan (Cena) Kamphuis, Waupun; four daughters, Margaret (Martin) Miedema, Burnett, Karen (Robert) Slager, Bellflower, Calif., Wanda (Jim) Zatopa, La Grange, Ill., and Kay (Paul) Marose, Juneau; 14 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one sister, Junice Kamphuis, Waupun; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ella Mae Veleke, and Margaret and John Hoekstra, all of Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona, in 1994; one grandson, Charles Zatopa; one brother, Gerret Kamphuis, and two sisters, Lena and Ruby Kamphuis.

Friends may call on Friday, March 1, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun.

The Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, is serving the family.

Meta I. Valaskey-Zimmerman
FORT ATKINSON - Meta I. Valaskey-Zimmerman, 97, formerly of Waterloo and Reeseville, died on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Fort Atkinson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Jan. 7, at noon, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Reeseville. The Rev. Lowell Holtz will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran cemetery, town of Lowell.

Mrs. Valaskey-Zimmerman was born on July 7, 1904, in the town of Elba, the daughter of Louis and Annie (Goebel) Soldner. She was married on Sept. 30, 1925, to Theodore Valaskey. She was married in 1998 to Howard Zimmerman.

Mrs. Valaskey-Zimmerman farmed in the Reeseville area for over 40 years with her husband, Theodore, then moved to Waterloo. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Reeseville, for many years.

Survivors include three daughters, Valeta (Howard) Schwartz, Watertown, Evelyn Valaskey, Juneau, and Loretta (John) Woodruff, Jefferson; four grandchildren, Dennis (Lila) Schwartz, Watertown, Dale (Pam) Woodruff, Charleen Miller, both of Fort Atkinson, and Kevin Woodruff, Randolph; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Jaehnke, Reeseville; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Theodore Valaskey, in 1973; her second husband, Howard Zimmerman; her parents; three brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call on Monday, Jan. 7, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Reeseville.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Reeseville.

Russell H. Druecke
Russell H. Druecke, 81, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Oak Grove, died on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

The funeral was held on Monday, Dec. 31, at 12:30 p.m., at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Oak Grove. The Rev. Roger Grosnick officiated. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.

Mr. Druecke was born on March 3, 1920, in the town of Oak Grove, the son of Rudolph and Adela (Sell) Druecke. He was married on May 5, 1951, to Ruth Pasewald in Beaver Dam.

Mr. Druecke served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Dodge County Auxiliary Police Force and riot squad. In 1971, he was appointed Dodge County supervisor for District 14. He served on the Public Health and Special Hospital Building committees. He was employed as mill manager of River Valley Co-op, Watertown, for 23 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Oak Grove, since 1947, and served as elder and treasurer. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, reading and crafts.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Druecke, Oak Grove; one son, Scott Druecke, Beaver Dam; one granddaughter, Carla Eddy; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Schumacher; one brother-in-law, William Pasewald; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edna Lepien and Ada Loos, and one brother, Leroy Druecke.

Friends called on Monday, Dec. 31, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Oak Grove.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Selma I. Reilly
PRINCETON - Selma I. Reilly, 84, of 900 Sunnyview Lane, Princeton, died in Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at Berlin Memorial Hospital.

A private family service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home. The Rev. Calvin J. Vande Zande will officiate. Burial will be in Lake Emily cemetery.

Ms. Reilly was born on Jan. 3, 1917, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Arthur and Ida (Barkow) Gatzow.

Ms. Reilly lived in Milwaukee for most of her life until she moved to Princeton in July 1999. She was a 1935 graduate of the Milwaukee Vocational School. She was a very special person who cared for her family very much.

Survivors include two daughters, Joann (Richard) Syvertson, Randolph, and Sharon (John) Gilgenbach, Princeton; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one special sister, Doris Bodina, Milwaukee; one special niece, Pat Bock, Milwaukee; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; one son, and brothers and sisters.

There will be no visitation.

The Randolph Community Funeral Home, Randolph, is serving the family.

Phyllis E. Dorece
RACINE - Phyllis E. Dorece, 81, of Racine, died unexpectedly on Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at her home.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 10:30 a.m., at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 1910 Taylor Ave., Racine. The Rev. Russell Roetzer will officiate. A private burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Dorece was born on Nov. 18, 1920, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Victor and Anna (Palczewski) Danoski. She was married on Aug. 6, 1960, to Leonard A. Dorece in Waukegan, Ill.

Mrs. Dorece moved to Racine at the age of 16 in 1936, with her parents and siblings. Later she worked at Hamilton Beach and Racine Die Casting. She enjoyed cooking and collecting antiques. She had a great love of fishing, especially with her husband and family at their cottage on Eagle Lake. She was a homemaker who took pride in taking care of those she loved.

Survivors include one son, George (Deanne) Brien, Burlington; three grandsons, Michael (Tanya) Brien, Racine, Patrick Brien, Appleton, and George W. Brien II, Fontana, Calif.; one great-grandson, Cullen Brien; one brother, Aloyse (Alvara) Danoski, Kenosha; one sister, Lucy Kasper, Beaver Dam; special nieces, Beatrice Arndt and Patsy Rossman, both of Racine; one sister-in-law, Mary Danoski, Fox Lake; two stepsons, William Dorece, Ohio, and Randall Dorece, Racine; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, on Sept. 30, 1996; four sisters, Mary Linde, Jean Wade, Eva Brefka, and Florence Larson, and one brother, Frank Danoski.

Hertha B. Gentz
JUNEAU - Hertha B. Gentz, 83, of 767 E. Center St., Juneau, died on Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Jan. 7, at 2 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. The Rev. Thomas Biedenbender will officiate. Burial will be in Juneau City cemetery, Juneau.

Mrs. Gentz was born on Sept. 29, 1918, in the town of Hubbard, the daughter of Reinhold and Lydia (Sell) Qualmann. She was married to Edmund Gentz on Sept. 29, 1938, in Iron Ridge.

Mrs. Gentz and her husband farmed for many years in the Iron Ridge, Horicon and Juneau areas. She was also a nurse's aide at Clearview for 18 years. She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. Since 1974, she resided in Juneau, with the exception of the past year when, due to failing health, she resided at an assisted care facility, Wellington Place, Hartford.

Survivors include two sons, Merlin (Beverly) Gentz, Appleton, and Eugene (Delores) Gentz, Juneau; one sister, Lorraine Manthey, Mayville; one brother, Raymond (Margaret) Qualmann, West Bend; two sisters-in-law, Magdeline Gentz, Juneau, and Ellen Gentz, Mayville; one brother-in-law, Edward Yoeckel, Waupun; special friend, Lorenz Moldenhauer, Iron Ridge; one uncle, Arthur (Martha) Sell, Hartford; special cousin, Elvira (Matthew) Kohler, Hartford; five grandchildren, Dawn (John) Gore, Lafayette, Ind., Jeffrey (Ann) Gentz, Louisville, Ky., Jennifer (Cory) Torbenson, Appleton, Michael Gentz, Juneau, and Andrew Gentz, Juneau; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edmund; one daughter, Marlis Ann; one grandson, Jason Gentz; two brother; three sisters; four sisters-in-law, and seven brothers-in-law.

Jeremy J. Roser Jr.
HORICON - Jeremy Jon Roser Jr., infant, died on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Jan. 7, at 6 p.m., at the Pentecostal House of Prayer, W3941 Highway 33, Horicon. The Rev. John Beaupery will officiate.

Jeremy was the son of Jeremy and Teandra (Eubele) Roser, Horicon. He is further survived by one sister, Brittney Mae Roser, Horicon; maternal grandmother, Jean Uebele, Watertown; paternal grandparents, Allen and Kathleen Roser, Horicon; aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Skyler James Roser; maternal grandfather, Wayne Uebele; one uncle, Terry Uebele; one cousin, Jason Dittman, and his great grandparents.

Phyllis M. Marthaler
WAUPUN - Phyllis M. Marthaler, 66, of Waupun, died on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at the Christian Home, Waupun, where she had been a resident the past four years.

A private family funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Marthaler was born on Jan. 21, 1935, in Oakfield, the daughter of Ben and Doris (Panzer) Chapman. She was married on Jan. 9, 1953, to Eugene Marthaler.

Mrs. Marthaler and her husband lived in the Waupun area most of their life.

Survivors include one son, Daniel (Yvette) Marthaler, Fond du Lac; two daughters, Doreen (Steven) Ohlemiller, Fond du Lac, and Darilyn Marthaler, Waupun; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Donald (Evelyn) Chapman, Oakfield, and Wayne (Diane) Chapman, Reeseville; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, in 1988; one son, David, in 1978, and one daughter, Diane, in 1974.

Myra A. Curtis
FOND DU LAC - Myra Arlene Curtis, 64, a resident of 121 Knaup Drive, Beaver Dam, died on Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at the Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.

A liturgy of the word funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10, at 11:30 a.m., at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview cemetery, Fond du Lac. The Deacon Larry Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in the veterans section of Ledgeview Memorial Park. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 75.

Ms. Curtis was born on July 22, 1937, in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Arnold and Almira (Allen) Smith.

Ms. Curtis served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1958. She was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include three children, Albert Milner, Cedar City, Utah, Candy Cowen, New Mexico, and Connie (fiancee Gerald Ehlke) Curtis, Menasha; 10 grandchildren; relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Thursday, Jan. 10, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac.

A memorial has been established.

Gerald L. Hitchcock
FALL RIVER - Gerald "Jerry" L. Hitchcock, 58, of Fall River, died on Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at HospiceCare, Madison.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m., at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus. The Rev. Bruce Hennington will officiate.

Mr. Hitchcock was born on July 16, 1943, in Janesville, to Royce and Donna (Knox) Hitchcock. He was married on Feb. 20, 1971 to Mary Schwochert in Montello.

Mr. Hitchcock was a resident of Fall River, a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus, and a member of the Jefferson County Draft Horse Association.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Hitchcock, Fall River; one daughter, Carrie Hitchcock, Fall River; one son, Aaron Hitchcock, Fall River; his mother, Donna Hitchcock, Milton; two sisters, Virginia (Edward) Geske, Whitewater, and Carol Ann Geske, Milton; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and one son, George.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 6 p.m. until the time of service at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Columbus.
