Brian R. Berger
RIO - Brian "Steer" Robert Berger, 42, of rural Rio, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral was held on Tuesday, May 28, at 11 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, Cambria. The Rev. Calvin Vande Zande officiated. Cremation followed.

Mr. Berger was born on April 28, 1960, in Beaver Dam, the son of Ralph and Lois (Sanderson) Berger. He was married on March 1, 1996, to Kim Karow at the First Presbyterian Church, Cambria.

Mr. Berger was a 1978 graduate of Cambria High School. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for several years until becoming employed with Payne & Dolan Inc., Waukesha as an operating engineer in the road construction crew. He became a doting father to his daughter, Abigail, on March 19, 1998. He cherished the time he spent with his daughter while ice fishing and hunting. Besides being an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed shooting pool in the Monday Night Tri-County Mens Pool League and snowmobiling. His family will always remember him as a devoted husband and father and a person who was willing to help someone in need. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Cambria, a past member of the Cambria Moonlighters Snowmobile Club and a member of Operating Engineers Union 139.

Survivors include his wife, Kim, Rio; one daughter, Abigail Rose, Rio; his parents, Ralph and Lois Berger, Cambria; three brothers, William (Chris) Berger, Richard (Genny) Berger, and Joseph (Beth) Berger, all of Cambria; one sister, Julie Berger, Seattle, Wash.; parents-in-law, Philip (Joan) Karow, Randolph; one brother-in-law, Kelly Karow, Waupun; one sister-in-law, Keri (John) Ver Hage, Randolph; 10 nieces and nephews; cousins, aunts, uncles, great-aunts and uncles, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Friends called on Monday, May 27, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria, and on Tuesday, May 28, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the First Presbyterian Church, Cambria.

Memorials would be appreciated in the family's name.

Lisa I. Nye
FALL RIVER - Lisa I. Nye, 39, of Fall River, died on Saturday, May 25, 2002, at her home.

There will be no service.

Mrs. Nye was born on Sept. 19, 1962, in Madison, the daughter of Henry and Hazel (Wolfe) Rasmussen. She was married on Sept. 20, 1997, to Chris Nye in Owen.

Mrs. Nye was a 1978 graduate of Queen of Apostles High School, Madison.

Survivors include her husband, Chris Nye, Fall River; one son, Norman Jenness, Ladysmith; one daughter, Lakin Jenness, Fall River; mother, Hazel Rasmussen, Ashland; father, Henry Rasmussen, Las Vegas,; grandmother, Lilly Rasmussen, Tysnes, Norway; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Rasmussen and Michael Toomey.

There will be no visitation.

The Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, is serving the family.

Donald S. Reynolds
WAUKESHA - Donald S. Reynolds, 82, of Waukesha, died on Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Linden Grove Nursing Home.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 29, at 2 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church of Hustisford. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Horicon.

Mr. Reynolds was born on July 24, 1919, in Waukesha, the son of Lyle and Hazel (Jones) Reynolds.

Mr. Reynolds lived in Hustisford as a child and attended grade and high schools there. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hustisford for many years. He was a member of the Watch and Clock Association, the Rock Collector Association and was an avid gun collector. He was a tool and die maker and worked at Northwest Tool & Die, Butler.

Survivors include one daughter, Gail (Roger) Bensing, Waukesha; one granddaughter, Sheryl (Randy) Young, Watertown; two great-grandchildren, Troy and Jakab Young; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Vera (Krueger) Reynolds, in November 1960, and Lucile (Gerth) Reynolds, in July 1995, and two grandsons, Steven and Scott Knoebel.

Friends may call on Wednesday, May 29, from noon until the time of service at the First Presbyterian Church.

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Hustisford, is serving the family.

Dorothy N. Evenson
FOX LAKE - Dorothy Nellie Evenson, 91, of Fox Lake, formerly of Cambria, died on Saturday, March 30, 2002, at the Barrett House, Fox Lake.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 2, at 11 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, Cambria. The Rev. Julie WaterDu will officiate. Burial will be in Cambria cemetery.

Mrs. Evenson was born on July 21, 1910, in Cambria, the daughter of William G. and Nellie (Thomas) Thomas. She was married on July 17, 1940, to Ole Evenson in Cambria.

Mrs. Evenson attended the Delavan School for the Deaf and continued her education at a Madison beauty school. Over the years she enjoyed being a hairdresser for several women in the Cambria area. Following her marriage, she and her husband farmed on the family farm until her husband's retirement, when they moved to the village of Cambria in 1976. She enjoyed needlework, sewing, and especially ceramics, which her family will forever cherish. She also found great pleasure delivering for the Cambria Meals-on-Wheels program. She was a member of the Prairie Homemakers, the Eastern Star of Lodi, the Cambria Women's Club, the Cambria American Legion Auxiliary Unit 401, the First Presbyterian Church, Cambria, and its Dorcas Circle.

The family would like to thank all those who called or kept Dorothy in their prayers, with a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Barrett House, Fox Lake. We cannot show enough of our appreciation for the tender and loving care that you gave to our mother and grandmother.

She will be sadly missed and mourned by one daughter, Nancy (Garland) Levey, Cambria; two grandsons, Michael (Debra) Levey, Cambria, and Jeffrey (Carrie) Levey, Beaver Dam; two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Savanna Levey, Cambria; relatives and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ole, on Jan. 7, 1979; one brother, Thomas Thomas, on Dec. 30, 1995; one sister-in-law, Sarah Thomas, on May 17, 1997; one sister in infancy; one nephew, and three brothers-in-law.

Friends may call on Monday, April 1, from 5 to 8 p.m., with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria, and on Tuesday, April 2, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at First Presbyterian Church, Cambria.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Cambria.

Merritt P. Taylor
OTSEGO - Merritt P. Taylor, 86, of the town of Otsego, died on Saturday, March 30, 2002, at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Doylestown. The Rev. Donald Wiecki will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Taylor was born on Aug. 28, 1915, in the town of Otsego, the son of George and Olive (Purves) Taylor. He was married on Nov. 29, 1939, to Adeline M. Miller at St. Patrick's rectory in Doylestown.

Mr. Taylor was a 1933 graduate of Fall River High School. He was a lifelong dairy farmer, and after retirement he continued to farm with his son and grandson. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Doylestown.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Adeline Taylor, Wyocena; one daughter, Janet (Mike) Kirby, Memphis, Tenn.; one son, Roger (Elsie) Taylor, Otsego; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray (Luella) Taylor, and Leon (Molly) Taylor, and one niece, Audrey Gagnon.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 2, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a scripture service at 8 p.m., at the Vangen Funeral Home, Rio.

Memorials may be made to the Columbia County Health Care Center, the Columbus Community Hospital, or the charity of one's choice.

Julianne L. Koehne
Julianne L. Koehne, 44, of Beaver Dam, died on Friday, March 29, 2002, at her home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Revs. Daniel Massie and Charles Scheuerell will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Patrick's Catholic cemetery, town of Beaver Dam.

Miss Koehne was born on Aug. 2, 1957, to William A. and Constance M. (Kroeger) Koehne.

Miss Koehne was a 1975 graduate of Wayland Academy as class valedictorian. She studied ballet with the Joffrey Ballet Company in New York, and also studied ballet in Paris. She attended Stanford University before graduating from Yale University in 1983. As a student, she was a columnist and ballet critic for The Stanford Daily, for which she won national acclaim. While at Yale, she was director of Student Tech.

Survivors include her mother, Constance Koehne, Beaver Dam; one brother, Mark (Kathryn) Koehne, La Crosse; three nieces, Lauren Koehne, Stephanie Koehne, and Gabrielle Koehne; one nephew, Timothy Koehne; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, William A. Koehne, in 1974.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 2, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Wednesday, April 3, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials given to the family will be used toward a ballet scholarship in Julianne's name.

Andrew J. Schkirke
WAUNAKEE - Andrew J. Schkirke, 35, formerly of Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, March 28, 2002, of severe coronary artery disease, at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 3, at 1 p.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery, town of Beaver Dam.

Mr. Schkirke was born on Dec. 1, 1966, in Rhinelander, the son of Robert and Barbara (Benike) Schkirke.

Mr. Schkirke was a 1985 graduate of Beaver Dam High School, and a 1987 graduate of Milwaukee Area Technical College. He was employed by Marshall Erdman and Associates, Waunakee, for the past 14 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his parents, Robert and Barbara Schkirke, Beaver Dam; three sisters, Christine Nelson, Cottage Grove, Deborah (Matthew) Finn, Oconomowoc, and Mary (Paul) Klavekoske, Watertown; one brother, Jeff Schkirke, Madison; maternal grandmother, Angeline Benike, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Todd Schkirke; maternal grandfather, Albert Benike, and paternal grandparents, Theodore and Dorothy Schkirke.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, and on Wednesday, April 3, from noon until the time of service at the church.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam is serving the family.

Raymond Husslein Sr.
IRON RIDGE - Raymond Husslein Sr., 73, of Iron Ridge, formerly of 1243 Crabtree Road, Waynesville, N.C., died on Friday, March 29, 2002, at the home of his son, Jeff.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 2, at 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville. Burial will be in Garette Hillcrest Mausoleum, Waynesville, N.C. Military rites will be conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post 69.

Mr. Husslein was born on Nov. 21, 1928, in Milwaukee, the son of Milton and Elsie (Summers) Husslein Sr. He was married on July 19, 1946, to Gloria Doomek in Milwaukee.

Mr. Husslein was employed at American Motors as the supervisor of the trim, cut and sew department. He owned and operated Ray and Gloria's Tap from 1969 to 1977. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was active in the VFW where he served as commander of both the Mayville and Waynesville, N.C. posts.

Survivors include four children, Ray (Sandra) Husslein Jr., Jeff (Sue) Husslein, both of Iron Ridge, Linda Sue Soblewski, Mayville, and Nancy (Dean) Best, Waynesville, N.C.; two brothers, Milton (Elsie) Husslein Jr., Oxford, and Robert (Katie) Husslein, West Allis; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Gloria.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 2, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville.

Herbert A. Pieper
MAYVILLE - Herbert A. Pieper, 88, of 305 S. Clark St., Mayville, formerly of Hustisford, died on Friday, March 29, 2002, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m., at the Hafemeister Funeral Home, Watertown. The Rev. John Boehringer will officiate. Burial will be on Wednesday, April 3, at 9 a.m., in the Hustisford cemetery.

Mr. Pieper was born on Feb. 6, 1914, in the town of Hustisford, the son of Paul and Helena (Groth) Pieper.

Mr. Pieper attended Bethany Lutheran School, Hustisford. He was a dairy farmer and did carpentry work in the area for many years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Watertown. He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include one brother, Melvin (Margaret) Pieper, Hustisford; two brothers-in-law, Elton Wellhoefer, Hustisford, and Hilbert Hodgson, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hilbert and Elmer, and three sisters, Marcella Derge, Cora Hodgson, and Mildred Wellhoefer.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 2, from 5 p.m. until the time of service at the Hafemeister Funeral Home, Watertown.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Frederick W. Graichen
RANDOLPH - Frederick W. Graichen, 87, of 137 Ellis St., Randolph, died on Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Golden Years Assisted Living, Randolph.

The funeral will be held on Friday, April 5, at 11 a.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home. The Rev. David Bode will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin.

Mr. Graichen was born on April 8, 1915, in Coloma, the son of Gustav and Minnie (Lindke) Graichen. He was married to Evelyn, who preceded him in death in 1977. He was then married to Luella, who preceded him in death in 1981. He was then married to Esther, who preceded him in death in 2002.

Mr. Graichen was a former member of St. Martini Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, and most recently a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. He enjoyed coaching and all sports. He also enjoyed dart ball, hunting, fishing, gardening and traveling.

Survivors include three daughters, Judy (Bruce) Eckert, Franksville, Connie (LeRoy) Schmidt, Randolph, and Karen (James) Wrasse, West Allis; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Joyce) Graichen, Leesburg, Fla.; one aunt, Letty Ross, Oconomowoc; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three wives, one sister, and two brothers.

Friends may call on Friday, April 5, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Randolph Community Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to St. Martini Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, or St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.
