Kathryn J. Vander Bosch
WAUPUN - Kathryn J. Vander Bosch, 78, formerly of Brandon, died on Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at the Christian Home, Waupun, following a courageous battle with cancer.

The funeral will be held on Friday, April 5, at 10:30 a.m., at the Alto Reformed Church. The Rev. Dr. Gregg Pusateri and the Rev. Ted Medema will officiate. Burial will be in the Alto cemetery.

Mrs. Vander Bosch was born on May 15, 1923, in the town of Alto, the daughter of Edward B. and Angeline (Kastein) Stelsel. She was married in 1944, to Lester Vander Bosch.

Mrs. Vander Bosch taught school at Kolsta School in the Brandon area. She and her husband farmed in the Alto area most of their married life. She was a member of the Alto Reformed Church, where she was active in its Women's Ministry, including Sunday school and Bible class. She was also a member of the Women's Homemakers.

Survivors include her husband, Lester Vander Bosch, rural Brandon; one son, James Vander Bosch, Waupun; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 4, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Friday, April 5, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Alto Reformed Church.

The Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria, is serving the family.

Laura L. Burchardt
JUNEAU - Laura L. Burchardt, 97, formerly of Beaver Dam, was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at Clearview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Juneau.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, April 6, at 11 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery.

Mrs. Burchardt was born on Feb. 22, 1905, in Mayville, the daughter of Edward and Maria (Rohrschneider) Manthey. She was married on Feb. 29, 1924, to John A. Burchardt.

Mrs. Burchardt and her husband lived and worked in Beaver Dam, prior to moving to the Milwaukee area. They later returned to Beaver Dam, where she worked and retired from the Green Giant Corp. She enjoyed being a homemaker, especially baking. She also enjoyed fishing and gardening. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include one son, Grant Sloniker; one grandson, Dennis L. Sloniker; two great-grandchildren, Danielle Richardson and Petrina Sloniker; two great-great-grandchildren, Brandon and Savannah Sloniker; one brother, Lawrence (Eugenia) Manthey; three sisters-in-law Mary Manthey, Margaret Manthey, and Eleanor Deglow; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, in 1972; and one daughter, Beatrice G. Sloniker, in 1995, and 11 brothers and sisters.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. until the closing service at 10:30 a.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, then to St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam for Mass at 11 a.m.

William G. Minnier
William G. Minnier, 78, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Crosby, Pa., died on Sunday, March 31, 2002, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

The funeral and committal service was held on Thursday, April 4, at 11 a.m., at the Gary K. Drum Funeral Home, Smethport, Pa. The Rev. Max Simms officiated. Burial was in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette.

Mr. Minnier was born on Aug. 11, 1923, in Betula, the son of Arthur and Harriet (Rowley) Minnier. He was married on June 27, 1953 , to Donna G. Kimmel.

Mr. Minnier was a 1941 graduate of Smethport High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was employed by GTE Sylvania as a foreman for many years until retirement.

Survivors include one son, William J. Minnier, Beaver Dam; two daughters, Patricia L. Green, Crosby, Pa., and Catherine A. Campbell, DeBois, Pa.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Glenn Minnier, Leechburg, Pa.; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, on Oct. 23, 1997; one brother, and one sister.

Friends called on Wednesday, April 3, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Gary K. Drum Funeral Home, Smethport, Pa.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, served the family locally.

John W. Green
WAUSAU - John W. Green, 84, of 400 River Drive, Wausau, died on Sunday, March 24, 2002, at North Central Health Care Facilities, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, at 1 p.m., at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, Wausau.

Mr. Green was born on Nov. 25, 1917, in Horicon, the son of Harry Green and Winifred (Smith) Welson. He was married on March 3, 1962, to Vivian Johnson.

Mr. Green was associated for many years as a salesman for Lewis Containers Packaging Corp. of America and Green Bay Packaging, followed in recent years as an independent packaging procurement business. He will be remembered by many for his knowledge of flying. He served as a civilian flight instructor in Tulsa, Okla., during World War II. He also founded an airport in Beaver Dam where he graduated from high school and attended Wayland Academy. For many summers he managed the Gateway Airport. He also instructed Wausau residents and young people in obtaining their licenses to fly. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the QBs (Quiet Birdman.) He also enjoyed antique auto shows and gun shows. He was a loving husband, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather. After his marriage he often said "in one hour I acquired a wife, three children and a dog." He will be missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to thank all the nursing staff at Mount View Care Center and Comfort Care and Hospice Services for all their care and kindness.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Green, Wausau; two daughters, Patricia (Art) Suro, Castle Rock, Colo., and Michelle (Jerry) Pipinich, San Bruno, Calif.; one son, Paul Russell, Ishpeming, Mich.; six grandchildren, David and Roger Suro, Beth and Mark Pipinich, Rachel (Terry) Dehnel, and Scott Russell; three great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Allen Dehnel, and Kristen Suro; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, George Welson.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 3, from noon until the time of service at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, Wausau.

Memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, or Comfort Care and Hospice Services, both of Wausau.

Gary O. Anderson
STOUGHTON - Gary Ole Anderson, 48, of Stoughton, was taken home on Wednesday, March 27, 2002, after a short but courageous battle with Butkitt's lymphoma cancer.

A private Native American service will be held on Saturday, March 30, at 10 a.m., at the Gunderson Stoughton Funeral Home, Highway 51 North at Jackson St., Stoughton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 30, at 1 p.m., at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Road, McFarland.

Mr. Anderson was born on June 15, 1953, at St. Mary's Hospital, the son of Harry "Tex" and Anita (Osterndorff) Anderson. He was married on May 5, 1973, to Paula R. Whitesel.

Mr. Anderson was a 1972 graduate of McFarland High School, where he was very active in both football and wrestling, and got the nickname "Big Bear." He worked for Mautz Paint Company for a while after graduation and in 1975, went to work for Kipp Inc., Madison, where he remained for 20 years. In 1996, he went to work for Boumatic/Dairy Equipment, Madison, as a machinist. He was very active in the Boy Scouts, being a troop leader for eight years, and a hunter's safety instructor for many years. He loved hunting, fishing and almost anything to do with nature and the outdoors. He also loved doing the 1840s re-enactments of the mountain man era and running Anishanabe Trading Post with his current wife, Sandra E. (Marthaler) Anderson, formerly of Beaver Dam, whom he married in a civil ceremony on Nov. 3, 2000, and a religious and Native American ceremony on May 26, 2001. He enjoyed building up their trading business in a four state area and meeting hundreds of interesting and colorful fellow buckskinners.

Survivors include this wife, Sandra Anderson, Stoughton; three sons, Eric Anderson, Josh Anderson, both of Madison, and Blake (Amy) Anderson, Edgerton; one stepdaughter, Desiree Teichmiller, Verona; two grandchildren, Gina Kruckenberg and Dakota Anderson, both of Edgerton; his mother, Anita Anderson, Madison; two brothers, Victor (Nancy) Anderson, Baraboo, and Mark (Rose) Anderson, Saganaw, Mich.; two sisters, Betty (Richard) Jacobson, Henderson, Nev., and Kathy Jones, Madison; two brothers-in-law, Wade and Stuart Whitesel, both of Madison; an uncle, Ralph Osterndorff, Lyndon; an aunt, Carol Glanville, Dodgeville; nieces, nephews, relatives and hundreds of buckskinning friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry "Tex" Anderson, in 1998, and one sister, Carolyn Rice, in 1999.

Friends may call on Saturday, March 30, from noon until the time of service at McFarland Lutheran Church.

Memorials will go into making a book of Gary's life with all his family and friends quoting one interesting story they remember of his life and the proceeds from that will go to the St. Jude's Children's Cancer Hospital.

The Gunderson Funeral Home, Stoughton, is serving the family.

"He was a giant of a man with a heart as big as all outdoors. He will be sorely missed for he loved life and all it had to offer. Being a direct descendant of Leif Erickson, he now makes his long deserved journey to Valhalla."

Sylvester L. Weber
LAKE MILLS - Sylvester L. Weber, 91, of 933 Mulberry St., Lake Mills, died on Sunday, April 7, 2002, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 11, at 11 a.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Johnson Creek. The Rev. Keith Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Immanuel Ev. Lutheran cemetery, Watertown.

Mr. Weber was born on Dec. 1, 1910, in the town of Emmet, the son of John M. and Elsie B. (Heck) Weber. He was married on March 31, 1934, to Gladys M. Hilker at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Watertown.

Mr. Weber farmed in the town of Emmet for five years, then in the town of Watertown, until his retirement in 1979. He and his wife were residents of Lake Mills since 1979. He was a former member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Watertown, and had been a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Johnson Creek, for more than 40 years. He served as an usher and bell ringer for the church. He had been a member of St. John's dartball team for 35 years, and served as captain for 20 years. He had been a member the church's Men's Club, and former member and past president of the Luther League. He served on the church council for six years, and performed many tasks needed by the church. He was a former member of the Over Fifty Club. He was a member and treasurer for the town of Watertown School Board. He was an avid fisherman, loved to play cards, and spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Tim) Buss, Watertown; one son, Wayne (Ruth) Weber, Ixonia; a twin sister, Viola Schlesner, Watertown; three grandchildren, Faye (Dan) Nora, Ginger (Leonard) Kline, and Gordon Hartman, three great-grandchildren, Vincent Nora, Dustin Nora, and Aiden Kline; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys, on Feb. 27, 1999; one daughter, Phyllis, in infancy, and two brothers, Ira and Alton Weber.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 10, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Hafemeister Funeral Home, Watertown, and on Thursday, April 11, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Johnson Creek.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, the American Cancer Society, or the charity of one's choice.

The Hafemeister Funeral Home, Watertown, is serving the family.

Wanda A. Lange
FOND DU LAC - Wanda A. Lange, 36, formerly of 4034 S. 77th St., Milwaukee, died on Sunday, April 7, 2002, at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 10, at 6 p.m., at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Goeffrey Hoy will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Mayville, with the Rev. Tim Spaudi officiating.

Miss Lange was born on Sept. 27, 1965, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Orlin and JoAnn (Kuehl) Lange.

Miss Lange was a 1985 graduate of Mayville High School. She received her bachelor's degree in office administration from MATC. She was employed at the Equal Employment Opportunity Center, Milwaukee, from 1985 to 1995. She was a member of St. Jacobi Ev. Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, a member of the church choir, and was a volunteer at the church school.

Survivors include her parents, Orlin and JoAnn Lange, Mayville; one son, Brian Mickelson, Milwaukee; two sisters, Wendy (Craig) Benzel, DePere, and Brenda (Paul) Okon, Slinger; paternal grandmother, Iris Lange, Waupun; one niece, Nicole Okon, Slinger; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents and her paternal grandfather.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 10, from 3 p.m. until the time of service, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Memorials may be made to a trust fund for Wanda's son, Brian Mickelson, at any M & I Bank.

Florence Zimmerling
RANDOLPH - Florence Zimmerling, 91, formerly of Cambria, died on Monday, April 8, 2002, under the loving care of the staff at Golden Years, Randolph, and the wonderful people from hospice.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 11, at 7 p.m., at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria. The Rev. Julie WaterDu will officiate. Burial will be on Friday, April 12, at 11 a.m., in the Cambria cemetery.

Mrs. Zimmerling was born on Dec. 7, 1910, on the family farm, the daughter of Charles and Amelia (Begler) Behncke. She was married to Raymond Zimmerling.

Mrs. Zimmerling had happy childhood years in Chicago, where her family assisted her brother, David, who developed the Checkerboard Flying Field. Her family returned to their farm near Cambria, where she graduated from Cambria High School as valedictorian. After marriage, she and her husband worked on the family farm with her brother, Raymond. She continued to work the family farm for many years, grew potatoes and sweet corn, and split her own wood. She truly loved the outdoors, especially in Colorado. In her later years, she took up oil painting and quilting. Her family will forever cherish the beautiful work she did. She shared many childhood stories with her family of the interesting times with her brother, David, in his earlier years as a pilot. She managed to divide her time between her home in Colorado, near Ouray, and her home near Cambria. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Cambria, and taught Sunday school for many years.

She will be sadly missed and mourned by one daughter, Delores (Ron) Senft, Cambria; one granddaughter, Lisa (Peter) Jurgerson, Cambria; one grandson, Richard Senft, Algoma; six great-grandchildren, Dustin and Brandon Jurgerson, Cambria, Tasha Senft, Green Bay, Cody and Alesia Senft, Algoma, and Jacob Crabtree, Arlington, Texas; nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David, in infancy; two brothers, Raymond and David; one sister, Frieda, and one nephew, Raymond.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 11, from 5 p.m. until the time of service, at the Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Cambria.

Pamela J. Denninger
RANDOLPH - Pamela J. Denninger, 44, of Randolph, died on Monday, April 8, 2002, at her home, with her loving family at her side.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m., at Frieden's Ev. Lutheran Church, Randolph. The Rev. Walter Goers Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Denninger was born on March 5, 1958, in Columbus, the daughter of Clifford and Bonnie (Erdman) Berndt. She was married on Oct. 4, 1986, to Steve Denninger at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Denninger was a graduate of Columbus High School. She was an active member of the Sno-Kats Snowmobile Club, and served as its secretary. She was also a member of Frieden's Ev. Lutheran Church, Randolph. She was co-owner with her husband, Steve, of Al-Win Enterprises, Randolph, and was a vital part of the everyday operation. Her faith in Jesus, strength and courage through him, were admired by all whose lives she touched.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Denninger, Randolph; her parents, Clifford and Bonnie Berndt, Beaver Dam; four brothers, Darryl (Kris) Berndt, Tom (Lauria) Berndt, both of Columbus, Randy (Terri) Berndt, San Francisco, and Jerry (Joanna) Berndt, Kokomo, Ind.; two sisters, Nancy (Kevin) Posthuma, Beaver Dam, and Patti (Lee) England, Columbus; father and mother-in-law, George and Irene Denninger, Fox Lake; maternal grandmother, Hazel Erdman, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by three grandparents; one brother, Jeffery, in 1969, and one nephew, Douglas.

Friends may call on Friday, April 12, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, and on Saturday, April 13, from noon until the time of service at Frieden's Ev. Lutheran Church, Randolph.

Memorials may be made to Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church, Randolph, St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, or Hospice Care of Beaver Dam.

Clarence E. Guptill
WESTFIELD - Clarence "Mickey" E. Guptill, 83, of Westfield, formerly of Horicon, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Divine Savior Hospital, Portage.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 11 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, Westfield. The Rev. Steven Kaszar will officiate. Burial will be in Sheldon cemetery.

Mr. Guptill was born on Oct. 2, 1918, in Beaver Dam, the son of Herbert and Alice (Miescke) Guptill. He was married on June 11, 1942, to Elizabeth Rucker.

Mr. Guptill was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the ETO. He was a Horicon businessman from 1949 to 1988, as owner of Guptill Dodge-Chrysler-Plymouth. He was co-founder of Horicon boys baseball. He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church, Westfield, a former member and elder of First Presbyterian Church, Horicon, a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was on the steering committee of Moraine Park Technical College, and was an avid outdoorsman.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Guptill; one daughter, Elizabeth "Betty Lou" (Karl) Bobholz, Briggsville; one son, C. Edward Guptill, Horicon; seven grandchildren, Curtis (Jodi) Bobholz, Michael (Sheila) McNulty Bobholz, Vicky (Daniel) Miller, Karl (Aleshia) Bobholz Jr., Dena (Christopher) Long, Janay (Ken) Brewer, and Kari Guptill; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eleanora Borja, Mildred (Eugene) Wackett, and Donna (Butch) Freber; six brothers, James (Una) Guptill, Russell (Doris) Guptill, Alvin Guptill, Lester Guptill, Ronald (Shirley) Guptill, and Richard Guptill; two sisters-in-law, Louise Miescke, and Olivine Rucker; one brother-in-law, Al Miner; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, June Miner, and one brother, Raymond Guptill.

Friends may call on Friday, April 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home, Westfield, and on Saturday, April 13, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the First Presbyterian Church, Westfield.
