Leonard C. Thomas
NEWARK, Calif. - Leonard C. Thomas, 66, of Newark, Calif., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002.
The funeral was held on Sunday, Feb. 17. Burial was on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
Mr. Thomas was born on Nov. 20, 1935, in Mayville.
Mr. Thomas was a 1954 graduate of Mayville High School. He was an engineer for 36 years, last employed with Sprint, from which he retired in 1997. He was a scientist with several patents for precision timing for communication systems and was most recently working on ground locater systems, similar to GPS. He enjoyed classical music, going to symphonies and the opera, but his love of all time was messing around with computers and going to his favorite place, Yosemite National Park, Calif.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Nancy A. Thomas, Newark, Calif.; three children, Bill (Mica) Thomas, Petaluma, Calif., Bob (Michelle) Thomas, San Jose, Calif., and Laura (Ed) Thomas, San Mateo, Calif; two grandchildren, Ryan and Justin Thomas; three brothers, Bill Thomas, Mayville, Dave Thomas, Oak Harbor, Wash., and Ted Thomas, Colorado Springs, Colo.; four sisters, Marilyn Faulkenburg, Palo Alto, Calif., Tomi Carey, New Brunswick, Canada, Rita Thomas, Madison, and Victoria Shallow, Omaha, Neb.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Walter Meyer
Walter "Wally" Meyer, 87, a resident of Hillcrest Home, formerly of 111 Karl St., Beaver Dam, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
The closing service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 10:30 a.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery, Beaver Dam. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146.
Mr. Meyer was born on Sept. 11, 1914, in Beaver Dam, the son of Anton and Louise (Hartl) Meyer. He was married
on Oct. 19, 1940, to Eleanore "Blanche" Bach in Beaver Dam.
Mr. Meyer was a lifelong resident of Beaver Dam, a longtime employee of the Weyenberg Shoe Co., and Schmidt TV and Appliance, retiring from Weyenberg in 1976. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, past president and longtime member of the Beaver Dam Eagles 1638. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion Post 146, and was very active with the post honor guard for many years. He was a member of the Catholic Knights Insurance Society for 80 years, St. Michael's Holy Name Society, a member of the Knights of Columbus 1837, and Msgr. Rohner-Fourth Degree Assembly. He loved cooking, fishing and gardening, in particular raising green peppers. He also loved to help others.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Longseth, Beaver Dam; one son, Robert (Brenda) Meyer, Beaver Dam; four grandchildren, Thomas, Curtis and David Longseth, and Christopher Meyer; two great-grandchildren, Arianne Longseth and Mabel Longseth; one sister-in-law, Esther Caughlin; one brother-in-law, Joseph Kuzniewicz Sr.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanore "Blanche" Meyer, in December 1990; three brothers, Ray, William and Clarence; one sister, Evelyn Kuzniewicz; one infant grandson, Timothy Longseth; one son-in-law, Richard Longseth; three brothers-in-law, Richard Schwandt, Elmer Fischer, and Raphael Caughlin; two nieces, and two nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m., the Eagles will meet at 7 p.m., and there will be a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.
Memorials may be made to the UCPS Endowment fund, or St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.
Betty A. Baldner
FOND DU LAC - Betty Anne Baldner, 76, of Fond du Lac, died on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, in the loving arms of her husband of 55 years, at her home.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
Mrs. Baldner was born on Nov. 11, 1925, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Gerhardt and Grace (Sharpe) Rades. She was married
on June 23, 1947, to "her Marine" Gil Baldner, in Milwaukee.
Mrs. Baldner loved birds, flowers, animals, children, mashed potatoes, turtles and Fond du Lac.
Survivors include four children, Susan (James) Belanger, Oconomowoc, Robert (Ann) Baldner, Beaver Dam, and Nancy (Bill) Martin, Fox Lake; nine grandchildren, James Belanger Jr., Jennifer (Christopher) Kussrow, Katie Anne and Lyndee Belanger, Nicholas, Sara and Alyssa Baldner, Cassandra and Cody Martin; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Madeline and Lilyanna Kussrow; relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Diane, in infancy.

Thelma E. Berger
COLUMBUS - Thelma E. Berger, 96, a resident of the Columbus Center, formerly of Fall River, died on Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at the center.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 1 p.m., at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Fall River. The Rev. James Bolda will officiate. Burial will be in the Fall River cemetery.
Mrs. Berger was born on April 11, 1905, in South Dakota, the daughter of Henry and Josephine (Hyne) Hendrickson. She was married
on March 22, 1927, to William Berger in Rio.
Mrs. Berger was a lifelong resident of the Columbus/Fall River area. She was a longtime employee of the former Tetzlaff Drug store, Columbus. She was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Fall River, an honorary member of its Ruth Circle, and a member of the Fall River Women's Club. She was a wonderful cook and before the lunch program, she had lunch in her home for the Fall River school teachers every day. She then was a part-time cook at the Fall River schools. She was an avid reader, and a very caring and loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna (William) Gretzinger, Fall River; one son, Ralph (Lois) Berger, Cambria; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one brother, Donald (Lois) Hendrickson, Cambria; four sisters, Viola Neef, Pardeeville, Lillian DeVries, Friesland, Jean Gaastra, Cambria, and Noreen Kampen, Cambria; one sister-in-law, Ruby Hendrickson; relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, on Oct. 14, 1988; two brothers, Orville and Earl; and one sister, Hazel; four brothers-in-law, Floyd Jacobson, Art DeVries, Gilman Neef and LaVerne Kampen, and one sister-in-law, Armella Hendrickson

Elmer A. Pieper
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Elmer August Pieper, 88 formerly of Fox Lake, died on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, in Scottsdale, Ariz., where he had resided since 1987.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m., at the Riverside Memorial cemetery, Fox Lake. The Rev. David Nottling will officiate.
Mr. Pieper was born on Oct. 13, 1913, in the town of Trenton, the son of William and Lydia Pieper. He was married
to Cecile Pillsbury on Oct. 3, 1936, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Trenton.
Mr. Pieper was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Fox Lake, where he served as treasurer and usher. He lived and worked in the Fox Lake vicinity all of his life until he moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1987, at which time he joined Salem Lutheran Church. He was so loved and will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Cecile; one son, Ronald (Judy); grandchildren, Lori (Tim) Moore, Brenda (Kelley) Smith, Brian (Tina) and Kevin (Rachael); great-grandchildren, Autumn and Kelsey Smith, Christina Moore and Miranda Pieper; one brother, Harvey Pieper; one sister-in-law, Edna Pieper; one nephew, Dennis (Dianna) Pieper; nieces, Donna (Kurt) Vetter, Jean (Bob) Tiedt and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roland Pieper; one sister, Olivia Hermann; one brother-in-law, Clarence Hermann, and one sister-in-law, Norma Pieper.

Joseph T. Paul
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. - Joseph T. Paul, 38, of 6891 Scott St., Hollywood, Fla., died on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, as the result of an automobile accident.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Theresa. The Rev. Vincent Holubowicz will officiate. Burial will be in St. Theresa Memorial Garden, Theresa.
Mr. Paul was born on Oct. 4, 1963, in Cudahy, the son of Jesse and Janet (Rassel) Paul.
Mr. Paul was a 1980 graduate of Lomira High School. He was employed as a truck driver in Hollywood, Fla.
Survivors include his parents, Jesse and Janet Paul, Theresa; two brothers, James (Jennifer) Paul, Ellington, Conn., and John Paul, Theresa; one sister, Joan (David) Bonack, Theresa; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Grace Witvoet
WAUPUN - Grace "Blondie" Witvoet, 87, of 331 Bly St., Waupun, died on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at the Christian Home and Rehabilitation Center, Waupun.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m., at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. G.M. de Leeuw will officiate. Burial will be in Alto cemetery.
Mrs. Witvoet was born on July 30, 1914, in Alto, the daughter of Gerrit and Ida (Frens) Konings. She was married
on June 23, 1934, to Arnold "Bum" Pluim in Waukegan, Ill. She was married
on April 1, 1981, to John Witvoet in Lansing, Ill.
Mrs. Witvoet lived most of her life in the Waupun area and was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church, Waupun.
Survivors include her children, David (Delores) Pluim, Waupun, Ronald Pluim, Waunakee, and Mary Ann (Richard) Tank, Waupun; 12 grandchildren; four stepchildren, Carrie (Glenn) Kooy, Betty (Roger) Newenhouse, John (Lorna) Witvoet Jr., and Cora Tiemans, all of Lansing, Ill.; 16 step-grandchildren several step-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, "Buzz" and Josephine Konings, Alice (Burt) Larson, all of Waupun, and Edith Pluim, Brandon; one brother-in-law, Gary (Florence) Pluim, Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnold Pluim, on Feb. 17, 1975; her second husband, John Witvoet, in February of 1987; her parents; five brothers, and three sisters.

Frances E. Stenz
JUNEAU - Frances E. Stenz, 100, of 199 Home Road, Juneau, formerly of 605 Cochrane St., Waupun, died on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Clearview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Juneau.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waupun. The Rev. Mike Moran will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Waupun.
Mrs. Stenz was born on April 20, 1901, in the town of Woodville, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Prechtel) Schwabenlander Jr. She was married
on June 7, 1928, to John Stenz in the town of Woodland.
Mrs. Stenz and her husband moved to Springfield, Mo., where they were cheesemakers until they moved to Waupun. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waupun, the Altar Society of the church, and served in food services at St. Joseph Elementary School. She loved to garden and enjoyed God's great outdoors.
Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Patricia (Harvey Borkowski) Stenz, Pewaukee; three grandsons, John (Michelle) Stenz, Cambridge, David (Bonnie) Stenz, Milwaukee, and Andrew (Lisa) Stenz, San Diego, Calif.; four great-grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, Clara and Jack Stenz; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, on Feb. 28, 1998; one son, Donald, on Nov. 8, 1994; seven brothers, and two sisters.

Stephen F. Stanul
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Stephen F. Stanul, 86, of 4461 Stack Blvd., Apt E216, Melbourne, Fla., died on Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, Fla.
Mr. Stanul was born on June 21, 1915, in Two Rivers, the son of George C. and Anna Stanul.
Mr. Stanul was a district manager of a power and light company. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include one son, Douglas S. Stanul, Beaver Dam; one daughter, Judith A. Stanul; relatives and friends.

Andrew J. Joneth
Andrew J. Joneth, 81, of 110 Industrial Drive, Apt. 705, Beaver Dam, died on Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.
The funeral will be held on Friday, March 1, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Lindner will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Park, New Berlin.
Mr. Joneth was born on April 21, 1920, in Pittsburgh, the son of Anthony and Pauline (Bogoslosky) Joneth. He was married
to Alma Joneth. He was married
in 1971, to Dorothy Brooks in Juneau.
Mr. Joneth was a tool and die maker at Maysteel, Mayville, for many years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. He moved to Packwaukee Lake after retirement. He was a very active member of the Lions Club in Packwaukee, receiving the Mel Jones Award.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Joneth, Beaver Dam; one daughter, Sandy (Henry) Hendricks, Waupun; one son, Robert (Nancy) Joneth, Raleigh, N.C.; two stepchildren, Rodney (Janice) Brooks, Juneau, and Larry (Sandy) Brooks, Beaver Dam; one sister, Rosie Bolden, Milwaukee; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alma; brothers, sisters, and one grandson.
