Marie Bauer
Mrs. Marie (Gilbert) Bauer, 88, of 220 Henry St., Beaver Dam, died on Feb. 25, 2002.

The funeral will be held on Friday, March 1, at 6:30 p.m., at Praise Assembly of God Church, Beaver Dam. The Pastor Donald Bader will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Bauer was born on June 4, 1913, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Becker) Zimmerman. She was married on Sept. 28, 1935, to Gilbert Bauer at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Bauer was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church, Beaver Dam. She was the owner of Bauer Toy and Gift Store, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Bauer, and Christine (Dennis) Rivers, both of Beaver Dam; one granddaughter, Priscilla (Scott) Rivers, Beaver Dam; one grandson, Timothy (Jean) Rivers, Randolph; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Gabriel and Jonathan Rivers; two sisters, Clara Zimmerman and Cecila Kohl, and four brothers, Leonard, John, Alex, and Frankie Zimmerman.

Friends may call on Friday, March 1, from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service at Praise Assembly of God Church, Beaver Dam.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Meta I. Gerbitz
Meta I. Gerbitz, 105, formerly of Juneau, died on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

The funeral will be held on Friday, March 1, at 3 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. The Revs. Douglas Westenberg and Thomas Biedenbender will officiate. Burial will be in Juneau City cemetery.

Mrs. Gerbitz was born on Oct. 24, 1896, in Spring Valley, the daughter of Emil and Ida (Voss) Quandt. She was married in 1920, to Kurt Gerbitz in Clyman.

Mrs. Gerbitz lived the first five years of her life in Pierce County on the family farm. A short time later the family bought a farm on Highway 60 in the town of Clyman. She lived there until she married in 1920. For 16 years after that she and her husband farmed on Coughlin Road. Desiring a larger farm they moved to a farm east of Juneau on Highway 115 in 1936. In 1948, they built another house where she resided until she went to the hospital one week ago. She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau, since 1936. She was a past member of St. John's Ladies Aid and a past member of the High Point Homemakers. Her biggest interest was gardening and up to her last days she was getting ready to start gardening.

Survivors include two children, Norbert (Marcella) Gerbitz, and Adeline (Melvin "Pete") Nehls, both of Juneau; nine grandchildren, Lucia (Steve) Westgate, Michigan, David (Christine) Gerbitz, Robert Gerbitz, both of Juneau, Claudia (Randy) Hegg, Mukwonago, Gordon Gerbitz, Florida, Julie (Rob) Aubrey, Utah, Jennifer Nehls, Madison, Marlon (Gloria) Nehls, California, and Andrew Nehls, Texas; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kurt, in February 1976, and one sister, Hertha Callahan.

Friends may call on Friday, March 1, from noon until the time of service at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau.

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau, is serving the family.

Sandra K. Oehlert
WINONA, Minn. - Sandra K. Oehlert, 55, of Winona, Minn., died on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Fairview University Medical Center, Minneapolis.

Mrs. Oehlert was born on June 2, 1946, in Winona, Minn., the daughter of Richard C. and Elsie (Ellis) Zenk. She was married on March 28, 1982, to Duewaine W. Oehlert.

Mrs. Oehlert was a member of the Winona Genealogy Round Table, where she served as the president for two years. She worked at a local factory for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Martin's Ev. Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Duewaine Oehlert; her mother, Elsie Zenk; four children, Robert (Shelly) Alseth, Jeffrey (Cindy) Alseth, Michelle Alseth, and Tammy Alseth; three stepchildren, Rona, Renee, and Roxy; her mother-in-law, Bertha Oehlert, Rio; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharon (Gary) Pollard; four brothers, Robert (Betsy) Zenk, Richard Zenk, Larry Zenk, and Steve Zenk; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard C. Zenk, and one son, Michael W. Alseth.

Gertrude Rosin
JUNEAU - Gertrude Rosin, 90, formerly of 868 Mayer Lane, Mayville, died on Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Revs. Edward Blonski and William Stark will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Mayville.

Mrs. Rosin was born on Jan. 31, 1912, in the town of Hubbard, the daughter of Leonard and Amalia (Benter) Buss. She was married on Feb. 24, 1935, to Edward A. Rosin in Horicon.

Mrs. Rosin and her husband farmed in the town of Williamstown. She was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville, and St. John's Dorcas Society.

Survivors include three children, Kenneth (Sandria) Rosin, Orangeville, Ontario, Canada, Claudine (Robert) Burton, Watertown, and Deloris (Ralph) Dickman, Campbellsport; two sisters, Erma Buss, Juneau, and Mildred (Martin) Meunier, Ocala, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Blanche Buss, Menomonee Falls; one brother-in-law, Albert Rosin, Mayville; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward, in 2000, and one brother, Rolland Buss.

Friends may call on Thursday, Feb. 28, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Dorothy Wilsie
FOND DU LAC - Dorothy Wilsie, 90, died on Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. The Revs. Richard Lawrence and Kathy Ulrich will officiate. Burial will be in Wedges Prairie cemetery, town of Waupun.

Mrs. Wilsie was born on Nov. 12, 1911, in the town of Empire, the daughter of John and Margaret (Mahoney) Reinhardt. She was married on May 10, 1942, to Forrest Braatz in Stevens Point. She was married on March 9, 1967, to Perry "Pat" Wilsie in Naples, Fla.

Mrs. Wilsie was a graduate of Fond du Lac High School and Fond du Lac rural Normal School. Following her first marriage the couple lived near Ladoga for several years. She received her bachelor's degree from Oshkosh College in 1965. She began her teaching career at one room rural school and taught third grade at Amity School for six years. Following the death of her second husband, she moved to Fond du Lac, where she resided since.

Survivors include two daughters, Jill (Richard) Ruenger, Waupun, and JoAnn (Laurence) Kauth, Milwaukee; two sons, Richard Braatz, Van Dyne, and John "Jack" Braatz, Fond du Lac; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Neil (Em) Reinhardt, Fond du Lac; three sisters, Edna Sampson, Frances McCabe, both of Fond du Lac, and Patricia Schoebel, Princeton; one stepson, Bruce (Jody) Wilsie, Boulder Junction; two sisters-in-law, Corrine Reinhardt, Fond du Lac, and Angie Reinhardt, Horicon; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by one son, Scott; three sisters, and two brothers.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Thursday, Feb. 28, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Violet E. Surprise
COLUMBUS - Violet E. Surprise, 81, a resident of the Columbus Center, died on Friday, Jan 4, 2002, at the center.

A memorial service will be held by her family on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Rae Ann Bloomquist will officiate.

Mrs. Surprise was born on Dec. 18, 1920, in Shawano County, the daughter of Henry and Helen (Schlieve) Huycke. She was married in 1947 to Eldred Surprise in Fairbanks.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra (Duane) Lange, Beaver Dam; three sons, James (Susan) Surprise, Wausau, Edward (Diane) Surprise, and Jeff (Julie) Surprise, both of Beaver Dam; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred, in 1995, and one grandson, Donald Lange, in 1991.

The Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, is serving the family.

Viola Siddall
WAUPUN - Viola "Vi" Siddall, 91, of Waupun, died on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m., at Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun. The Rev. Kenneth Loehrke will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Siddall was born on July 16, 1912, in Sleepyeye, Minn. the daughter of Charlie and Mary (Thompson) Engelking. She was married on Oct. 3, 1928, to Walter Siddall in St. Paul, Minn.

Mrs. Siddall and her husband farmed in the Brandon area, then moved to Waupun, where they resided since. She worked at Mid-State Shoe Factory, Waupun, and was also a cook for the Hotel Waupun and Millies Restaurant, Waupun. She enjoyed feeding and caring for wild birds and nurturing her flowers. She was a member of Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty (James M.) Kinderman, Oshkosh; 10 grandchildren, Cynthia Karslewicz, Craig, Richard, David, Thomas, Michael, and Mark Kinderman, Gerald Armfield, Betty Lynn Benedict, and Robert Armfield; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Kay Stehlik, Kansas; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 1978; one daughter; one granddaughter; one great-great-granddaughter; six sisters, and three brothers.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun.

Alice L. DePover
LOWELL - Alice L. DePover, 74, a life-long resident of the town of Lowell, Dodge County, died on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at her home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, Reeseville. The Rev. John Simon will officiate. Burial will be in the Reeseville cemetery.

Mrs. DePover was born on Sept. 20, 1927, in Reeseville, the daughter of Joseph and Ella (Kohn) Meyers. She was married to Albert O. DePover on Feb. 5, 1948.

Mrs. DePover graduated from Reeseville High School in 1945. She and her husband farmed for 40 years.

Survivors include her husband, Albert DePover, town of Lowell; one son, David (Connie) DePover, Juneau; two grandchildren, Charles DePover and Corbin DePover, both of Juneau; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Earl Meyers and James Meyers; one sister, Kathryn Schultz. Alice was the last member of her immediate family.

Friends may call on Sunday, Jan. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Reeseville, where the rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m., and on Monday, Jan. 7, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Holy Family Catholic Church, Reeseville.

Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, Reeseville.

Nora Larson
GARRISON, N.D. - Nora Larson, 95, of Garrison, N.D., formerly of Douglas, N.D., died on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at Garrison Memorial Hospital.

The funeral was held on Thursday, Dec, 27, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Douglas, N.D. The Rev. Dick Hendrickson officiated. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran cemetery, Douglas, N.D.

Mrs. Larson was born on May 14, 1906, on the Rosebud Reservation in Sissiten, S.D., the daughter of James and Ingaborg (Ust) Chilson. She was married on Oct. 6, 1929,to Glen J. Larson at her parent's home.

Mrs. Larson was the only surviving child out of 14. She moved to Voltaire, N.D., at age 7. She graduated from Berlin High School and then Minot State College where she received her teaching certificate. She taught two years at rural Ruso and one year at Crystal School in McLean County. After marriage, she and her husband began their married life together in Grenora, N.D. where Glen was a grain buyer before moving to Douglas, N.D. in 1931, where they remained until their retirement. Nora was the bookkeeper at Glen J. Larson Elevator which they owned and operated until it was destroyed in a fire in 1966.

Mrs. Larson was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school, being part of the Ladies Aid and the Altar Guild. She was also active in the Rebecca Lodge, the Army Mothers and the Nifty Fifties Senior Center.

Survivors include two sons Gail (Gloria) Larson, Garrison, N.D., and Ivan (Arthleen) Larson, Gillette, Wyo.; four daughters, Cleo Wagner, Garrison, N.D., Joan Varty, Minot, N.D., Mary (Virgil) Wagner, Olympia, Wash., and Myra (Tom) Trotter, Iron Ridge; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law, parents, and 13 brothers and sisters.

Colleen J. McDonald
Colleen J. McDonald, 47, a resident of Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam, died on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at the manor.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Philip Heyer will officiate.

Miss McDonald was born on July 13, 1954, in Limestone, Maine, the daughter of Phillip J. and Joan (Bortz) McDonald.

Miss McDonald was a 1972 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. She learned to weld at Tow Low Campers, Juneau, and then worked as a welder at Metalfab, Beaver Dam, for 15 years. She loved and was very active in hunting, fishing, boating and snowmobiling. While she was at Hillside Manor she was very active with crafts, good at painting and loved to do artwork. She was also a vice president of their Resident Club. She was a lifetime member of Pumpkin Center Sportsmen's Club, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a lifelong member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include her parents, Joan (Donald "Bugs") Goodrich, Beaver Dam; one sister, Christine (David) Lemke, Beaver Dam; two stepsisters, Diane Goodrich and Perian (Eric) Hein, both of Beaver Dam; two stepbrothers, Larry (Cheryl) Goodrich, and Dale (Becky) Goodrich, both of Beaver Dam; one niece, Kerry (Steven) Pasewald, Beaver Dam; one nephew, Joshua (Elaina) Lemke, Beaver Dam; four stepnieces, Nicole, Justine, Danielle and Abbey; two stepnephews, Ryan and Matthew; three great-nephews, Cole, Sammy and Garret; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Phillip J. McDonald.

Friends may call on Saturday, Jan. 12, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Nathan T. Tamminga
RANDOLPH - Nathan T. Tamminga, 64, of Randolph, died on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at UW Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m., at the First Reformed Church, Randolph. The Rev. Calvin Vande Zande will officiate. Burial will be in Randolph cemetery.

Mr. Tamminga was born on Jan. 28, 1937, in Friesland, the son of Tom and Josie (DeYoung) Tamminga. He was married on May 1, 1965, to Evelyn Huizenga in Waupun.

Mr. Tamminga was a 1955 graduate of Randolph High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He was a member of the First Reformed Church, Randolph, where he served as an elder. He was also a member of the National Association of Postmasters. He had a 35 year career with the US Postal Service, ending his career as postmaster of Rio, in December 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Tamminga, Randolph; two brothers, James (Gerri) Tamminga and Merlyn Tamminga, both of Horicon; one sister, Lois (Harvey) VandeZande, Waupun; four brothers-in-law, Dr. Bernard (Judy) Huizenga, Palmyra, James (Susan) Huizenga, Falls Church, Va., Allen (Verene) Huizenga, Warrenville, Ill., and Dr. Roger (Mary) Huizenga, Beloit; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death his parents; an infant sister; one brother-in-law, Howard Alsum; one nephew, Glen Alsum; father and mother-in-law, William and Johanna Huizenga.

Friends may call on Thursday, Jan. 3, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home.

A memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers.
