Lloyd J. Bauer
FOND DU LAC - Lloyd J. Bauer, 86, of 55 Seventh St., Fond du Lac, died on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at his home.

Prayers will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph's Church, Fond du Lac. The Rev. Victor Capriolo will officiate. Entombment will be in the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary cemetery, Fond du Lac. Military rites will be conducted by the Trier-Puddy American Legion Post No. 75.

Mr. Bauer was born on Dec. 2, 1915, in Beaver Dam, the son of William and Margaret (Dietz) Bauer. He was married on Aug. 31, 1940 to Evelyn Giese at St. John's Cathedral, Milwaukee.

Mr. Bauer was employed with Mercury Marine Outboard Motors, Fond du Lac, from June 25, 1958, until his retirement on July 1, 1980. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was honorably discharged on Oct. 17, 1945. He was a member of the Fond du Lac Elks Lodge No. 57 B.P.O.E. since 1976, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 664.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Bauer, Fond du Lac; eight children, Ronald (Jane) Bauer, Janesville, Bonnie (Robert) Weisenburger, White Bear, Minn., Robert (Mary) Bauer, Shakopee, Minn., Kathleen Bauer, James (Donna) Bauer, Susan (Robert) Resop, all of Fond du Lac, Christine (Michael) Bauer-Christus, Carmichael, Calif., and Patricia Bauer, St. Francis; 12 grandchildren, Lisa, Allison, Megan, Crystalyn, Travis, Trisha, Alicia and Ashley Bauer, John Weisenburger, Jennifer, James and Jacob Resop; four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Anna, Lydia and Alexandra; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William, and one sister, Ruth McConaghy.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a parish vigil at 7:45 p.m., at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, Fond du Lac.

Orvis Moede
WAUPUN - Orvis "Butch" Moede, 64, of Waupun, died on Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m., at Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun. The Rev. Kenneth Loehrke will officiate.

Mr. Moede was born on Feb. 14, 1937, in Shawano, the son of Gustav and Leona (Pederman) Moede. He was married on Dec. 29, 1959, to Nancy Runge in Unity.

Mr. Moede and his wife farmed in the Unity area for 11 years. After they moved to Waupun, he was employed with Mercury Marine, Fond du Lac. He was also employed with C & K Construction for several years. He was a member of Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served for four years.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Moede, Waupun; three sons, Scott (Adelaida) Moede, Mayport, Fla., Doug Moede and Lance Moede, both of Waupun; two daughters, Tammy Vande Zande and Dawn (Dan) Van Buren, both of Waupun; nine grandchildren; four brothers, Gordon (Betty) Moede, Chili, Mike (Beatrice) Moede, Clintonville, Jim (Nancy) Moede, Marshfield, and John Moede, San Diego, Calif.; six sisters, Isabelle Maltby, and Anne (Arnie) Krause, both of Shawano, Mae (Carl) Krueger, Gresham, Elaine (Ray) Midkiff, Germantown, Ohio, Lucy (Robert) Johnston, Pewaukee, and Pat Moede, Neenah; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Friends may call on Monday, Jan. 14, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun.

Janette D. Snyder
CHANA, Ill. - Janette "Jan" D. Snyder, 77, formerly of Horicon, died on Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at the home of her daughter, in Chana, Ill.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon. Services will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 157, Horicon. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery, Horicon. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Horicon American Legion Post No. 157.

Mrs. Snyder was born on Jan. 29, 1924, in Hustisford, the daughter of Oscar and Hilda (Brockhaus) Schwinge. She was married on July 15, 1950, to Reed Snyder in Milwaukee.

Mrs. Snyder attended Horicon High School and graduated from Hustisford High School. She was also a graduate of UW-Oshkosh. She was a teacher in the Horicon Elementary School system. She was a life member of Zion Lutheran Church. She served in the WAVES in the U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of the Retired Teachers of Horicon School District, of the Dodge County Educator's Association, WEAC, NEA, and a life member of the American Legion Post No. 157, Horicon, serving as finance officer, adjutant, vice commander and commander. She was also a member of the Dodge County Council of the American Legion as commander and adjutant, she served the second district of the American Legion as adjutant, finance officer and commander, was a member of the Horicon American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 157, the 20/4, the Honor Society of Women Legionaries Echelon No. 11 serving as finance officer, aide and state director, and on the national level served as an aide. She was also a member of the WAVES National and Unit No. 39, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son, Del (Laurie) Snyder, Waupun; one daughter, Kim (Gerald) Neis, Chana, Ill.; one granddaughter, Michelle Janette Snyder, Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reed, and one sister, Dolores Fein.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon.

Erlyne B. LaBeau
AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Erlyne B. LaBeau, 92, of Auburndale, Fla., formerly of Watertown and Columbus, died on Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at Auburndale Health Services, of heart failure.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m., at the Hafemeister Funeral Home, Watertown. The Rev. Karl Walther will officiate. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery, Watertown.

Mrs. LaBeau was born on Jan. 19, 1909, in Lowell, the daughter of William and Hattie (Rauschenberger) Gogert. She was married on Sept. 2, 1928, to Irving Krueger. She was married in October 1961 to Henry LaBeau.

Mrs. LaBeau was a resident of Watertown for many years. She was a seamstress in the shoe factory industry, She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Winter Haven, Fla.

Survivors include four sisters, Wilma Adelmeyer, Auburndale, Fla., Bettywynn Warburton, Anchorage, Alaska, Nelda Kasper, Columbus, and Marlis (Charles) Oliver, Madison; one brother, Robert Gogert, Fall River; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Irving Krueger; her second husband, Henry LaBeau; three sisters, Eloise Gogert, Veleda Grabow, and Harriet Witthuhn, and three brothers, Marland, Warren and William Jr.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Hafemeister Funeral Home, Watertown.

George E. McBride Jr.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - George E. McBride Jr. , 73, formerly of Waupun, died on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, in Scottsdale, Ariz.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waupun. The Rev. Michael Wild will officiate.

Mr. McBride was born on Sept. 21, 1928, the son of George and Suzanne (Fuller) McBride.

Mr. McBride was a 1954 graduate of Regis College, Denver, Colo., after spending two years in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Korea. He was president of the M and M Gray Iron Foundry, Waupun, from which he retired in 1986. He was a member of the Northeast Wisconsin Chapter of the American Foundry Society, where he served as treasurer from 1968 to 1985, and was named its outstanding member in 1977. His enthusiastic community involvement included membership in the Waupun Hockey Association, Duck's Unlimited and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was Waupun Father of the Year in 1977. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Waupun, and was a director of the National Bank of Waupun, from 1972 to 1990. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, golfing, waterfowl hunting and muskie fishing, which he never got to catch.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Grandy Melby McBride, Arizona; five children, Mary McBride, Madison, George (Lori) McBride III, Menomonee Falls, Patricia (Bryan) Novak, Oakfield, Daniel (Diane) McBride, Waupun, and Kathryn (Todd) Fischer, Cambria; eight grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Fuller McBride, Fond du Lac; five stepchildren, Chuck and Jeff Melby, both of Los Angeles, Carol Melby, Scottsdale, Ariz., Dan Bell and Mike (Angie) Bell, both of Fond du Lac; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Char Wilkins McBride, and his second wife, Ellen Cooper Bell McBride.

Friends may call on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun.

Lovida Konings
WAUPUN - Lovida "Buzz" Konings, 77, of Waupun, died on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m., at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. A.H. Verhoef will officiate. Burial will be in Alto cemetery.

Mrs. Konings was born on May 21, 1924, in Waupun, the daughter of Ernest and Ida (Chapin) Armga. She was married on Aug. 17, 1942, to Ivan "Ike" Konings in Fond du Lac.

Mrs. Konings was a graduate of Waupun High School and lived in the Waupun area all her life. She was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church, Waupun. She was formerly employed with Waupun Laundry for 17 years, then became a full-time homemaker.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ike, on July 13, 2000; her parents, and one brother.

Friends may call on Sunday, Jan. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun.

John H. Sawyer
RANDOLPH - John Henry Sawyer, 87, of Continental Manor, Randolph, formerly of 204 Gould St., Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at the manor.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Jan. 21, at 3 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Kurtis Mau will officiate. Burial will be in Cambria cemetery.

Mr. Sawyer was born on Dec. 29, 1914, in Langford, S.D., the son of Henry and Pearl (Steiner) Sawyer. He was married on Aug. 17, 1940, to Lucille Deglow at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Sawyer was a graduate of Cambria High School. He was employed with Kraft Foods for 23 years, the Gamble Store for 10 years, and was a crossing guard in Beaver Dam for 17 years. He was a member of Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. He served his country in World War II in the U.S. Navy. He also belonged to the Royal Neighbors.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille, Beaver Dam; one son, Darrell (Penny) Sawyer, Boerne, Texas; one daughter, Jackie (Don) Cupery, Randolph; one very special niece, Sheri Born, Beaver Dam; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Monday, Jan. 21, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to Continental Manor, Randolph, Good Shepherd Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, or the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Janice E. Kurth
ALAMEDA, Calif. - Janice Ellen Kurth, 48, of 2122 Santa Clara Ave., Alameda, Calif., died on Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Fairmont Hospital, San Leandro, Calif., after a brief and noble battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan 19, at 11 a.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Lindner will officiate. Inurnment will take place in the spring at Highland Memory Gardens town of Trenton.

Ms. Kurth was born on June 6, 1953, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Arthur and Myrtle (Jahnke) Kurth.

Ms. Kurth was a graduate of Lakeside Lutheran High School, Lake Mills. She was also a graduate of UW-Whitewater and Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minn. She taught parochial school in Watertown, S.D. for several years. She returned to Madison and was employed by Equitec. She moved to California when the firm relocated to San Francisco in 1986, and had resided there since. She was an active member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mountain View, Calif. Up until her death, she was actively involved in the Women's Fellowship Newsletter. She was also actively pursuing various screen writing, producing and directing projects.

Survivors include her mother, Myrtle Kurth, Remembrance Home, Beaver Dam; three brothers, Chuck (Helen) Kurth, Beaver Dam, Bob (Imogene) Kurth, Waikoloa, Hawaii, and Steven (Marge) Kurth, Beaver Dam; one sister, Angie Kurth, Madison; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Kurth, in 1965, and one sister, Anna Kurth, in 1993.

Friends may call on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Koepsell Funeral Home Beaver Dam.

William F. Strehmel
COLUMBUS - William F. Strehmel, 87, of Highway K, Columbus, died on Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m., at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus. The Rev. Daniel Sims will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.

Mr. Strehmel was born on Jan. 18, 1914, in Columbus, the son of William and Emma (Brokopp) Strehmel. He was married on Sept. 4, 1937, to Meta Grueneberg at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus.

Mr. Strehmel was a lifelong area resident, living on his family farm since birth. He was a member of the National Farmers organization for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Meta Strehmel, Columbus; one son, Frederic Strehmel, Columbus; one daughter, Dorothy Koenigseder, Fort Worth, Texas; three grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; one sister, Esther Bergauer, Columbus; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus, and on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Columbus.

William Goodhue
ARKDALE - William "Vance" Goodhue, 52, of Arkdale, died on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, following a heart attack.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m., at Roseberry's Funeral Home and Crematory, 512 Main St., Friendship. The Rev. Kathryn Schifferdecker will officiate. Cremation will follow and the urn will be placed on the family plot in the East Arkdale cemetery.

Mr. Goodhue was born on Oct. 12, 1949, in Pinehurst, N.C., the son of Russell and Jeanette (Spurgin) Goodhue.

Mr. Goodhue worked as a carpenter. He lived at his sister's home for the past two years. He was known as "Unca Vance" to his sister's foster children. He will be especially missed by his nephews, Daniel and Ethan Jensen.

Survivors include his mother, Jeanette Fields, Murrells Inlet, S.C.; two sons, Michael and Cale Goodhue, both of Asheville, N.C.; two brothers, Russell and George Goodhue, both of Asheville, N.C.; one half-sister, Rosalyn (Gary) Jensen, Arkdale; two stepbrothers, William H. (Darlene) Goodhue, Reeseville, and Robert (Julie) Goodhue, Adams; two aunts, Joyce Gibbons, Adams, and Shelby Schulz, Oxford; five nieces; five nephews; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Goodhue, and stepmother, Dorothy Goodhue.

Friends may call on Thursday, Jan. 17, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at Roseberry's Funeral Home and Crematory, Friendship.

Mary T. Wetlaufer
RIO - Mary T. Wetlaufer, 75, of Rio, died on Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at her home.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m., at the Union Congregational Church, Rio. The Rev. William Thomas Howe will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date. A luncheon will follow the memorial service at the church.

Mrs. Wetlaufer was born on Sept. 27, 1926, in Scotland, the daughter of James M. and Mary (Irvine) Bell. She was married on Dec. 20, 1947, to Wayne Wetlaufer in Madison.

Mrs. Wetlaufer served in the military in the Royal Armed Forces of Great Britain during World War II from 1944 to 1946. It was then she met her husband to be. After marriage she helped him run Wetlaufer Pharmacy, Rio, for 35 years. For the past 10 years she worked for the Department of Revenue as a seasonal employee. She was a member of Union Congregational Church, Rio, sang in the choir and was active with the Circle group. She was also a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star when it was active in Rio.

Survivors include one son, Scott Wetlaufer, Madison; two daughters, Sandra (Delbert) Yaroch, Beaver Dam, and Edith (William) Wiske, Burlington; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne, on Nov. 5, 1998; three brothers, John, James and Robert Bell, and one sister, Rena Raeside.

The Vangen Funeral Home, Rio, is serving the family.
