Gustave Georg Jr.
WAUPUN - Gustave Georg Jr., 78, of Waupun, formerly of Milwaukee, died on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m., at Wisconsin Memorial Park cemetery-Chapel of the Flowers. The Rev. Terry Fulks will officiate. Burial will follow the service at the cemetery.

Mr. Georg was born on March 15, 1923, in Union City, N.J., the son of Gustave and Emily Georg Sr.

Mr. Georg was a mechanic and cooked for the Weehawken Fire Department in New Jersey. He moved to Milwaukee in 1956. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He enjoyed cooking, fishing and his family. He made friends easily.

He will be sadly missed by one daughter, Janine (Charlie) Buehrens, Waukesha; one son, Dennis (Dorie) Georg, Randolph; dear friends, Dave and Colleen Huber, Waupun; one sister, Eleanor (Paul) Russ, New Jersey; one niece, Lynne Russ, New Jersey; grandchildren, Darryl (Michelle) Tonn, Milwaukee, Peter (Kim) Tonn, Pewaukee, Michael (Tracy) Tonn, Muskego, Dennis Georg, and the Ricky George family, all of Hilbert; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Cesarz, Charapata and Zinnecker Funeral Home, Waukesha, and on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Jeanne C. Gillingham
Jeanne C. Gillingham, 80, of 315 N. Center St., Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Church-United Methodist, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Greg Jewison will officiate. Burial will be in Richland Center City cemetery at a later date.

Mrs. Gillingham was born on June 15, 1921, in Richland Center, the daughter of Myron E. and Anna E. (Kurtz) Clark. She was married on March 20, 1944, to A. Wayne Gillingham, at United Brethren Church, Richland Center.

Mrs. Gillingham was a 1939 graduate of Richland Center High School and a 1941 graduate of Richland County Normal School. She taught in Richland and Racine counties. She also worked at Racine Glove Company and Weyenburg Shoe Factory until her retirement. She was a member of Trinity Church-United Methodist, Beaver Dam. She also belonged to Daughters of Union Veteran's of the Civil War.

Survivors include her husband, A. Wayne Gillingham, Beaver Dam; four children, Jane Ann (Delmar A.) Winning, Beaver Dam, Lyndel Jean (Clark) Sheerar, Mondovi, Albert John Gillingham, Beaver Dam, and Paul Wayne (Mary) Gillingham, Franklin; four grandchildren, Steven (Christine) Winning, Brian Winning, Michelle Brassfield, and Jennifer Brassfield; four stepgrandchildren, Dagna and Karl Sheerar, Nikki and Danielle Longe; five great-grandchildren, Britney, Taylor, Mackenzie, Caitlyn and Briann Winning; precious nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and three brothers.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at Trinity Church-United Methodist, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to the church of the donor's choice or Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Rebecca A. Taylor
WEST BEND - Rebecca A. Taylor, 13, of West Bend, formerly of Batavia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Children's Hospital, Milwaukee.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m., at Zion Methodist Church, Batavia. The Revs. Jodi Aroke-Lone and Dan Schwerin will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion cemetery, Batavia.

Ms. Taylor was born on Feb. 11, 1988, in West Bend.

Ms. Taylor was raised in Batavia. She attended Random Lake schools, Badger Middle School, and was most recently attending Willowglen Academy-Howard Jansen Learning Center, Howards Grove. She was a member of Zion Methodist Church, Batavia, and Still Waters Community Church, Jackson. She loved crafts, swimming, dancing, singing, rollerblading and bike riding, but most of all her family and pets.

Survivors include her mother, Lori (fiance Richard Kiefer) Taylor, West Bend; her father, William Taylor, Punta Gorda, Fla.; maternal grandmother, Marilyn Neuman, Beaver Dam; paternal grandparents, Calvin and Carol Taylor, Milwaukee; two brothers, Jason and Josh Taylor, both of Silver Creek; one stepsister, Alyssa Kiefer, Sturgeon Bay; godparents, Sharon Mc Gregor, Coral Springs, Fla., and James Dorangrichia, South Milwaukee; aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, LeRoy Neuman.

Friends may call on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Phillip Funeral Home, West Bend, and on Friday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Zion Methodist Church, Batavia.

John E. Bos
WAUPUN - John E. Bos, 80, a resident of the Christian Home, Waupun, died on Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at the home.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 10:30 a.m., at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Jeff Brower will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Mound cemetery, Waupun.

Mr. Bos was born on June 17, 1921, in Corsica, S.D., the son of Adrian and Minnie (Kuening) Bos. He was married on June 1, 1945, to Jeanette Stiemsma in Friesland.

Mr. Bos and his wife farmed in the Waupun area for over 40 years. He was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Waupun, where he was an elder and a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Bos, Waupun; one son, James (Doreen) Bos, Brandon; three daughters, Andrea (Daniel) Baber, Loretta (John) Posthuma, both of Brandon, and Joan (Douglas) Aukeman, Hudsonville, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; one brother, Marvin (Lois) Bos, Waupun; two sisters, Caroline (Marvin) De Vries and Adrianna (Raymond) Lange, both of Waupun; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Waupun.

Edward H. Sylvester
STREAMWOOD/SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - Edward H. Sylvester, 86, of Streamwood/Schaumburg, Ill., formerly of Chicago, died on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at St. Alexius Hospital, Streamwood, Ill.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 10:30 a.m., at the Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd., Streamwood/Schaumburg, Ill. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel cemetery, Palatine, Ill.

Mr. Sylvester was born on Nov. 20, 1915, in Burnett, the son of Charles H. and Alma (Beilfuss) Sylvester. He was married on May 20, 1950, to Helen Bielak at St. Mary's Church, Woodland.

Mr. Sylvester attended grade school at Burnett Corners school. As a young man he was employed at the Spring Brook farm, Burnett, and worked for George Hickey. When first married he farmed in the Iron Ridge area for Roman Laufenburg. From 1961 to 1973, he owned a farm in the Juneau area. Later he moved to Chicago, where he was employed for Major Metals Products, retiring in November 1980. He also owned and managed an apartment complex in Chicago. He enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He loved spending his vacations and holidays in Wisconsin to visit with family and friends. He was a longtime member of St. Viator Parish, Chicago.

Survivors include one son, Greg (Deb) Sylvester, Streamwood, Ill.; three grandchildren, Dana (Mathew) Bergroschtje, Dahlgren, Va., Jennifer and Nicholas, Streamwood, Ill; one great-granddaughter, Nicole; one great-grandson, Michael; two sisters, Lillian Zunker, Dousman, and Alice Schutte, Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen, on Jan. 19, 1999, and one brother, Elmer, in 1992.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 3 to 9 p.m., at the Countryside Funeral Home, Streamwood, Ill.

William L. Schneiter
RANDOLPH - William L. "Bill" Schneiter, 83, of Randolph, died on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, peacefully after a one-day stay at Continental Manor with his family by his side.

The funeral was held on Monday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m., at the Second Christian Reformed Church, Randolph. The Rev. James Admiraal officiated. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Hartford, at a later date.

Mr. Schneiter was born on Sept. 24, 1918, the son of Jacob and Frieda (Bieri) Schneiter. He was married in April 1947, in Chicago, Ill., to Amanda Hildegarde Schultz.

Mr. Schneiter was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Ill. He worked for many different sales companies and worked for Bordens Dairy for many years. After his retirement, he continued to work and had his own independent painting company. He was active in prison ministries after retirement. He was past commander of the VFW Post 9510 of Randolph, and was an annual speaker for Veterans Day and Memorial Day services, school programs and graduations.

Mr. Schneiter's greatest joys in life were his faith and his family. He embraced Christ in every aspect of his life and shared this conviction with others daily. As a father and grandfather, he could not contain his love and pride for his children and grandchildren. He relished their every accomplishment from a grandchild's winning basket, to a child's job promotion, and then enthusiastically shared the news to one and all. His final comment to his family was always "Remember God loves you and so do I." This is where we will take comfort, in knowing that he is finally home with God. We love and miss you Dad and Grandpa, and will forever keep you close in our hearts and in our prayers.

Survivors include his former wife and good friend, Amanda Hildegarde Adam; five children, Daniel Schneiter, Plymouth, Susan (Bill) Hundley, Sheboygan, Richard "Sam" (Debbie) Schneiter, Randolph, Kathy (special friend, Harry Wile) Geertsma, Randolph, and Laurie (Jon) Katsma, Cambria; two stepchildren, William "Dutch" Schultz, Waupun, and Michael (Jo-Elyn) Schultz, Farmington, Minn.; 15 grandchildren, Cairie Virruetta, Misty Collins, Heather Hundley, Stephanie (Zach) Tisdale, Jeremy Geertsma, Melissa Geertsma, Vincent Schneiter, Stacy Katsma, Kristin Katsma, Dustin Schneiter, Ashley Hundley, Alicia Katsma, Leah Schneiter, Derek Schneiter, Deanna Schneiter; eight great-grandchildren, Cody, Brittany and Dezarae Collins, Karina, Marissa, Natasha and Nicholas Virruetta, and Emily Tisdale; 13 step-grandchildren; 10 great-step-grandchildren; one sister, Elsa Schneiter; and one brother-in-law, Clarence Brose.

He was preceded in death by two infant brothers; one infant sister; one sister, Elda Brose; one half-brother, Herman Bieri, and one stepdaughter-in-law, Martha Schultz.

Friends called on Sunday, Jan. 20, from noon to 3 p.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, Randolph, and on Monday, Jan. 21, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Second Christian Reformed Church, Randolph.

Wilhelmina Harmsen
WAUPUN - Wilhelmina Harmsen, 88, of Waupun, died on Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Manor Care Health Services, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 10:30 p.m., at the First Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Rick Boon will officiate. Burial will be in the Alto cemetery.

Mrs. Harmsen was born on Aug. 19, 1913, in the town of Chester, the daughter of Henry and Cynthia (Tenpas) Yunto. She was married on June 12, 1934, to Sidney Frens. She was married on March 21, 1969, to Bernard Harmsen.

Mrs. Harmsen worked at the Midstate Shoe Factory, Waupun. She later worked at Rompre's. She was a homemaker during her married years. She was a member of the First Reformed Church, Waupun, and its choir. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

Survivors include one daughter, Wilma (Wayne) Van Buren, Waupun; two grandsons, Jason (Shelly) Van Buren, Waupun, and Wayne Guenther, Beaver Dam; two granddaughters, Kristen Van Buren, Waupun, and Brenda Guenther, Sun Prairie; two great-grandchildren, Alexis Van Buren and Samantha Van Buren, both of Waupun; two stepsons, Alvin (Dorie) Harmsen, and Ronald (Kathy) Harmsen, both of Waupun; six stepgrandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Garret (Helen) Yunto, Waupun; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sidney, on June 15, 1966; her second husband, Bernard, on Nov. 15, 1994; one daughter, Elaine Guenther; one son-in-law, Duane Guenther; two grandchildren; one brother, Lester Yunto, and two sisters, Henrietta Kastein and Dorothy Duescher.

Friends may call on Monday, Jan. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the First Reformed Church, Waupun.

Gerald L. Kendell
MADISON - Gerald L. Kendell, 78, succumbed to lung cancer on Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at HospiceCare Inc., Madison.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m., at Columbus United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Hobbins will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Cottage Grove, at a later date.

Mr. Kendell was born on April 29, 1923, in Sun Prairie, the son of George W. and Laura (Hessing) Kendell.

Mr. Kendell was a 1942 graduate of Sun Prairie High School. He served with honor in the Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II and was recalled to active duty during the Korean War. He retired in 1988 from the Wisconsin Cheeseman. Earlier employment was with Research Products and the Oconomowoc Canning Company. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Churches in Sun Prairie and Columbus, and a longtime member of the Sun Prairie Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Kendell, Madison; three daughters, Kathleen (Michael) Mitchell, Eagan, Minn., Jane (Murray) Spencer, Westmoreland, Tenn., and Carol Mehl, Mountain Home, Ark.; one son, Gary (Ann) Kendell, Des Moines, Iowa; stepdaughter, Deanne (Jerry) Raley, Hinton, Iowa; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Jeannette Lorenz, Sheboygan, Mildred Oakey, Madison, and Dorothy Holtan, Stoughton; one brother, Richard (Pat) Kendell, Rockford, Ill.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Alice, in 1929; infant twin daughters, in 1955; his first wife, Mary Jane (nee Phillips) Kendell, in 1964; his father, in 1976; his mother, in 1981; 10-year-old daughter, Susan, in 1979; one stepson, Mark, in 1991, and one son-in-law, Paul Mehl, in 2000.

Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 25, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, and on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Columbus United Methodist Church.

The family requests memorials be made to the Bell Choir of Columbus United Methodist Church, UW Comprehensive Cancer Center, or HospiceCare Inc.

Frank H. Oemig
REDMOND, Wash. - Frank H. Oemig, 67, of 6111 141st Court, NE, Redmond, Wash., formerly of Watertown, died on Dec. 23, 2001, in Seattle, following a courageous three-month battle with cancer.

Visitation, followed by a service of prayer and reflection, was held at his home on Dec. 26. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren, his fellow softball team members and close friends. A memorial service was held on Jan. 2, at First Congregational UCC, Watertown. The Rev. Steven Savides officiated.

Mr. Oemig was born on July 10, 1934, in Stanley, the son of Paul and Rachel (Johnson) Oemig. He was married in 1959 to Delores Willam.

Mr. Oemig was a 1959 graduate of UW-Madison. He and his wife lived in Mayville from 1960 to 1964, while she taught math in the Mayville school system. In 1964, they moved to Watertown, where they raised their children. In 1997, they moved to Redmond, Wash. The following year, he and his son, Eric, as business partners, formed an investment company.

Survivors include his wife, Delores Oemig, Redmond, Wash; two daughters, Tanya (Jeff Vrstal) Vrstal Oemig, Evansville, and Carmen Oemig, Madison; one son, Eric Oemig, Bellevue, Wash.; five grandchildren; two sisters, two brothers; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Hilda E. Twardokus
HARTFORD - Hilda E. Twardokus, 98, of W1079 Illinois Road, Hartford, died on Sunday, Jan, 20, 2002, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 2 p.m., at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Huilsburg. The Rev. William A. Marquardt will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Ev. Lutheran cemetery, Huilsburg.

Mrs. Twardokus was born on Nov. 26, 1903, in the town of Herman, the daughter of Ferdinand and Bertha (Radke) Quandt. She was married on Nov. 26, 1924, to Frank Twardokus at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Huilsburg.

Mrs. Twardokus and her family farmed in the town of Herman. She was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Huilsburg.

Survivors include two sons, Marvin (Arlene) Twardokus and Raymond Twardokus, both of Hartford; one daughter, Irmgard (Elmer) Meyer, Hartford; one brother-in-law, Robert Twardokus, Horicon; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1993; one daughter, in infancy; two sisters, Agnes Koepsell and Thelka Schulz, and three brothers in infancy.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 4 to 9 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, and on Thursday, Jan. 24, from noon until the time of service at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Huilsburg.

Walter E. Miller
RANDOLPH - Walter E. Miller, 88, formerly of W8399 Well Road, Lowell, died on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at Continental Manor, Randolph.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. David Bode will officiate. Burial will be in the Lowell cemetery.

Mr. Miller was born on Sept. 25, 1913, in Columbus, the first son of Emil and Cora (Huntington) Miller. He was married on Sept. 1, 1937, to Erna Poetter at Salem Lutheran Church, Lowell.

Mr. Miller's family resided in the rural Columbus area and included two boys and two girls. He attended South Columbus Grade School and Zion Lutheran School. It was his grandfather who was one of the masons that built Zion Lutheran Church. Walter graduated from Columbus High School then worked in the shops and on the road crew on old Highway 151. He and his wife, Erna, were privileged to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with family and friends. He had explored many business ventures in his lifetime with much success.

Mr. Miller farmed in the Columbus area at one time. He had a small farm which he sold and then rented bigger farms. He had dairy cattle and raised crops before he expanded to do custom work for farmers. He owned heavy machinery including tillage equipment, a combine and equipment for picking corn.

He was also a cross country truck driver and owned his own rig. At one point he owned two big rigs. This provided the opportunity for him to see much of the USA. In his retirement years, he and his wife enjoyed traveling together. They traveled extensively, visiting 46 states on the mainland. He purchased a roomy diesel Tornado which was for a trip that covered more than 8,000 miles. He and his wife planned their travel itinerary with the aid of a motor club and traveled at their leisure to enjoy the many wonders of nature. He traveled extensively in California and Arizona, but his favorite state was Texas.

It was after working in the welding department at Jakel Company that he started his own welding business in his shop at their rural home near Lowell. One of his grandsons currently uses Walter's shop to design and build his race car. He is in the process of completing his 10th car which he anticipates using this racing season. Walter kept updated on this progress and followed the weekly race results.

Mr. Miller enjoyed flying bi-planes, but his mother encouraged him to give up this hobby when he became a family man. He and his wife were blessed with three daughters and four sons who were all very supportive. In addition, they had been blessed with seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He spent several years deer hunting with his sons mainly in the Rio area and took several prize deer during the gun season. He also enjoyed hunting for big game in Wyoming with his buddies. In his leisure time, he could be found working on woodworking projects or helping his wife with her big garden. He stayed abreast of all the happenings at Continental Manor, Randolph, and shared his observations with the staff.

Survivors include his wife, Erna Miller, Lowell; seven children, Ronald (Ellen) Miller, Plainwell, Mich., Gerald (Sandra) Miller, Beaver Dam, Sharon Huggins, Madison, Kenneth Miller, Milwaukee, Sandra (Glen Ellingston) Schatz, Racine, Mark (Debbie Sanders) Miller, Lowell, and Sheila (Dereck) Brassington, Phoenixville, Pa.; one sister, Irene Nehmer, DeForest; one sister-in-law, Arlene Miller, Neshkoro; seven grandchildren, Connie (Jon) Breselow, Mayville, Daniel (Cheri Bailey) Miller, Clyman, Rebecca (Thomas) Repp, Seattle, Wash., Melissa Miller, Milwaukee, Shara Collins, Madison; Shaun Stoeger, Madison, and Gwen, Miller, Plainwell, Mich; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two great-grandsons, Cole and Reed Breselow; one brother, Arthur; one sister, Clara, and one son-in-law, Eric Schatz.

Friends may call on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a memorial time for sharing memories, stories and eulogies from 6:30 p.m. until the conclusion of visitation, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Sunday, Jan. 20, from 1 p.m. until the time of service, at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.
