Jewell H. Evenson
RIO - Jewell H. Evenson, 76, of Rio, died on Sunday, July 14, 2002, at UW-Hospital, Madison.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 18, at 11 a.m., at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Rio. The Rev. Mark Buchan will officiate. Inurnment of the cremains will be at a later date in Bonnet Prairie cemetery.

Mr. Evenson was born on July 28, 1925, in Rio, the son of Henry A. and Nettie (Thompson) Evenson. He was married on Aug. 15, 1948, to Bryce Campbell at the East Wiota Church, Wiota.

Mr. Evenson was a 1943 graduate of Rio High School. He worked in the insurance industry nearly his whole life. He was active in bowling for over 55 years, bowling a perfect 300 game while in his 70s, and was inducted into the Portage Bowling Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Bryce Evenson, Rio; one daughter, Kathy (Dave) Selland, Fargo, N.D.; three sons, Jim (Kris) Evenson, Beaver Dam, David Evenson, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Dan (Debbie) Evenson, Waterloo; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents,.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 17, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at the Vangen Funeral Home, Rio.

Patricia A. (Leichtle) Smith
Patricia Ann Smith, 47, of N8019 Highway 33, Beaver Dam, died on Monday, July 15, 2002, at her home.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 18, at 6 p.m., at the First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. David Bitler will officiate.

Ms. Smith was born on May 24, 1955, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Dick and Mary Ann (Dreymiller) Leichtle.

Ms. Smith was a 1973 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. She was employed with ShopKo, Beaver Dam, and Old Fashioned Foods, Mayville. She was baptized at First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, on June 26, 1955.

She was the mother of one son, Eric Smith, Beaver Dam; the daughter of Dick and Mary Ann Leichtle, Beaver Dam; the sister of Linda (Bob) Cleveland, Hazelhurst, Kathy Martinsen, Sparta, and Rick (Viki) Leichtle, Beaver Dam; further survived byher dog, Molly; aunts, uncles, nieces, one nephew, relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 18, from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Inez Bates
WYOCENA - Inez Bates, 102, a resident of Willow Court Columbia Healthcare Center, Wyocena, formerly of Columbus, died on Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Willow Court.

A combined funeral and Eastern Star service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, at 3 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus. Burial will be in Bethel cemetery, town of Elba.

Mrs. Bates was born on March 13, 1900, in Ixonia, the daughter of Richard and Eleanor (Jones) Lewis. She was married on March 30, 1921, to William D. Roberts Jr. in Ixonia. She was later married on Oct. 24, 1937, to Terry Bates in Columbus.

Mrs. Bates attended Watertown High School. She was employed with the Borden Co., Columbus, for 15 years, then for Mietzel's Bakery until retirement. She was a 69-year life member of the Order of the Eastern Star Twilight Chapter 163, Sun Prairie; a 78-year member of the First Presbyterian Church, Columbus, and former elder; a member of the Presbyterian Women's Association, and a 35-year member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Portage.

Survivors include one daughter, Marlys Weihert, Columbus; two grandchildren, Glenn (Sally) Weihert, Verona, and Gayle (David) Kadlec, Eagle River; three great-grandchildren, Keith Weihert, Shannon and Melanie Kadlec; one niece, Sandra (Jack) Fendt, La Crosse; one nephew, Richard (Sherrie) Lewis; very good friend, Olive Bowdin; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William D. Roberts Jr., 1934; her second husband, Terry Bates; two brothers, Clayton and David Lewis, and one nephew, Harold "Fuzzy" Weihert.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 17, from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Columbus; Bethel cemetery, town of Elba; Columbia Healthcare Center, or the charity of one's choice.

The Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, is serving the family.

Irene I. Huhndorf
WAUPUN - Irene I. Huhndorf, 87, of Waupun, died on Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Friendship Haven, Waupun.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 16, at 7 p.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun. The Revs. Kathy Ulrich and Richard Lawrence will officiate. Burial will be in Cattaraugus cemetery, Waupun.

Mrs. Huhndorf was born on Dec. 30, 1914, in the town of Marcellon, the daughter of Fredrick and Mathilde (Martin) Ehlert. She was married on Oct. 6, 1932, to Herbert C. Huhndorf in Waukegan, Ill.

Mrs. Huhndorf was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun. She was a former member of the Rock River Tuesday Club, had a joy of gardening, crocheting, sheepshead, pool and watching birds, deer and turkeys.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene (Rose) Huhndorf, and John Huhndorf; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; six step-great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Huhndorf; two half-sisters, Hattie Wolf and Lillian Cundy; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Huhndorf, on Jan. 14, 2000; one son, Carl Huhndorf, on Feb. 27, 2001; three sisters, Mabel Griep, Elsie Ehlert, and Evelyn Ehlert; two brothers, George and Edward Ehlert; one half-sister, Violet Persha, and one half-brother, Harry Ehlert.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 16, from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun.

A memorial is being established.

The Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, is serving the family.

James E. Lockwood
WEST COVINA, Calif. - James Edwin Lockwood, 55, of West Covina, Calif., died on Sunday, June 23, 2002, at his home.

Burial was in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, Calif.

Mr. Lockwood was the eldest of the five children of Edwin M. and Leona E. Lockwood, both originally from Beaver Dam. Leona died in November 1999. Ed is still living and resides in California.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Lockwood; three natural children, Candi, Melody, and Eddie; two step children, Lisa and Joe.

Willamina Aalsma
TROY, Texas - Willamina Aalsma, 84, of Troy, Texas, died on Saturday, July 13, 2002, in Texas.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 19, at 10 a.m., at Forest Mound cemetery, Waupun.

Mrs. Aalsma was born on Aug. 18, 1917, in Waupun, the daughter of William and Jeanie (Harmsen) Hiedeman. She was married on Sept. 30, 1938, to Andrew Aalsma.

Mrs. Aalsma was a dedicated and loving foster mom along with her husband, for 30 years. During that time they were twice named Foster Parents of the Year. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her family.

Survivors include one son, Richard (Mary) Aalsma, Troy, Texas; two foster daughters, Linda Schultz, Fond du Lac, and Nancy Schultz, Troy, Texas; four grandchildren. Brent (Shirley) Aalsma, Texas, Ricquel (Jeff) Straks, Waupun, Ryan and Nicole Aalsma, both of Texas; eight great-grandchildren, Kristen, Cody, Breanna, Kyra and Shane Aalsma, Lauren, Jake and Kole Straks; one brother, Rueben Hiedeman, Arizona; one sister, Jeanette Bronkhorst, Brandon; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew Aalsma, and three brothers, Warren, Germaine, and Lawrence Hiedeman.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 18, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun.

Deloris H. Nehls-Kling
WATERTOWN - Deloris H. Nehls-Kling, 86, of Watertown, died on July 15, 2002, at Watertown Memorial Hospital, following complications after surgery.

The funeral will be held on Friday, July 19, at 11 a.m., at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown. The Rev. Karl Walther will officiate. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery, Watertown.

Mrs. Nehls-Kling was born on June 9, 1916, in Hustisford, the daughter of Herman and Ella (Zuhr) Mueller. She was married in 1935, to Percy Nehls. She was later married on June 25, 1978, to Lloyd Kling.

Mrs. Nehls-Kling was valedictorian of her class at Hustisford High School. She worked on the farm with her first husband, Percy. She also worked for Glenn Manufacturing, Watertown, and the Musbeck Shoe Co., Oconomowoc. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown, and a former member of the Riverview Homemakers Club.

Survivors include her second husband, Lloyd Kling, Watertown; two sons, Clyde (Beverly) Nehls, and Wilfred (Shirley) Nehls, both of Watertown; one daughter, Carol (James Baade) Bohlman, Watertown; six grandchildren, Laury (Marvin) Schmidt, Beaver Dam, Ken (Sara) Nehls, Juneau, Mark (Barbara) Nehls, Neil Nehls, Carl Nehls, and Brian Nehls, all of Watertown; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Edgar Mueller, Watertown; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Percy Nehls, in 1967, and two brothers, Ruben and Garland Mueller.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 18, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Pederson Funeral Home, Watertown, and on Friday, July 19, after 10 a.m., at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown.

David L. Bremmer
COLUMBUS - David L. Bremmer, 59, of Fall River, died on Monday, July 15, 2002, as the result of a traffic accident.

The funeral will be held on Friday, July 19, at 11 a.m., at the Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus. The Rev. James Bolda will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Lawn Memorial Park, Wauwatosa.

Mr. Bremmer was born on May 5, 1943, in Fall River, the son of James and Irma (Schultz) Bremmer.

Mr. Bremmer was a resident of Fall River the past three years. He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Fall River.

Survivors include one brother, Richard (Barbara) Bremmer Sr., West Bend; two nephews; one niece; three aunts, Isabel Schulz, Columbus, Viola (Harvey) Austin, Madison, and Helen Schulz, Fall River; several cousins, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Friday, July 19, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus.

Lois H. Forster
FOND DU LAC - Lois H. Forster, 73, of 354 Hawthorn Drive, Fond du Lac, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Monday, July 22, at 1 p.m., at Wisconsin Memorial Park Chapel, Brookfield. The Rev. David Lieske will officiate. Burial will be in Wisconsin Memorial Park cemetery, Brookfield.

Mrs. Forster was born on April 27, 1929, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Herbert and Beatrice (Zavadil) Wasedalek. She was married on April 4, 1953, to Fred Forster in Milwaukee.

Mrs. Forster was a 1947 graduate of North Division High School, Milwaukee. She was retired from Micron, Iron Ridge. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac, the Lois Club, Fond du Lac, and a volunteer at the Galloway House, Fond du Lac.

Survivors include five children, Don (Dawn) Forster, Peebles, Cheryl (Gene) Grulke, Lomira, Nancy (Dan) Zastrow, Sandy (Fuzzy) Adelmeyer, both of Mayville, and David (Jeanne) Forster, Fond du Lac; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Forster, in 1991; an infant son, and one brother, Donald Wasedalek.

Friends may call on Monday, July 22, from noon until the time of service at the Wisconsin Memorial Park Chapel, Brookfield.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.

Gladys E. Koehler
WATERTOWN - Gladys Emily Koehler, 96, of Watertown, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at Marquardt Memorial Manor, Watertown.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 20, at 11 a.m., at Christ United Methodist Church, Watertown. The Rev. Lee Meissner will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.

Miss Koehler was born on May 13, 1906, in Rockford, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Rosina (Topp) Koehler

Miss Koehler had eight years of schooling. She worked for Lindberg Heavy Duty, Village Blacksmith and was a clerk at Woolworth's. She also cared for her elderly mother for 11 years. She loved to knit and paint, and was an expert seamstress. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Watertown, a member of the Women's Society of the church, and taught Sunday school for many years.

Survivors include three sisters, Selma "Sally" Koehler, Meta Urban, both of Watertown, and Myrtle Karow, Columbus; one niece; three nephews; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one brother in infancy.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 20, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Christ United Methodist Church, Watertown.

The Pederson Funeral Home, Watertown, is serving the family.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.
