Ernest L. Karow
COLUMBUS - Ernest L. Karow, 86, of Columbus, formerly of Fall River, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at Columbus Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Friday, June 14, at 11 a.m., at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Fall River. The Rev. Daniel Sims will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Fall River VFW Post 2219.

Mr. Karow was born on Feb. 29, 1916, in the town of Elba, the son of Louis and Martha (Glamm) Karow. He was married on June 16, 1951, to Isabel Schulz at St. John's Lutheran Church, Doylestown.

Mr. Karow was a graduate of Columbus High School. He spent four years in the U.S. Army during World War II, three of those in Bermuda. After the service he did factory work, retiring in 1981, from Mosinee Paper Co., Columbus. He was a resident of Fall River for 43 years. He was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Fall River, actively serving on many committees through the years. He was a member of the Fall River VFW Post 2219, as well as quartermaster for 25 years. He was an avid sports fan and ice fisherman. He and his wife of almost 51 years traveled extensively. They visited every state, many countries, took many Amtrak trips, and cruises on the Caribbean.

Survivors include, his wife, Isabel Karow, Columbus; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman, Oscar, and his twin brother, Elmer, and three sisters, Esther Karow, Lenora Dragert, and Lydia Grossman.

Friends may call on Friday, June 14, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Fall River.

The Zeidler Funeral Home, Columbus, is serving the family.

Julia Stroick
Julia "Julie" Stroick, formerly of 109 N. Roosevelt Drive, Beaver Dam, died on Monday, June 10, 2002, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

The funeral will be held on Friday, June 14, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. William Key will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Stroick was born on St. Valentines Day, on her parents farm near Ivanhoe, Minn., the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Przymus) Sowell. She was married on Oct. 16, 1928, to Matt Stroick in a Catholic ceremony in Landon.

Mrs. Stroick and her husband celebrated a full life together until his death on Oct. 20, 1984. She lived in Beaver Dam for over 60 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She also took great pride in her employment with the former Model Women's Fashion Shop and Newton Wenz Department Store. She and her husband were members of St. Peter's Parish since 1939. She also was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Ladies Fraternity of Eagles, VFW Auxiliary, Fond du Lac Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors and Christian Mothers of St. Peter's.

Her loving family included her son, Dan (Judy) Stroick, Sleepy Hollow, Ill.; three grandchildren, Gary (Carol) Stroick, St. Louis Park, Minn., Jule (Jeff) Ford, Madison, and Mark Stroick, Edgerton; one great-granddaughter, Camille Ford; three sisters, Leona Bartosch, Horicon, Bernice (Bernard) Kalkoff, Morgan, Minn., and Betty (Kelly) Arvidson, Litchfield, Minn.; special friends, Cecil, Angie, Bill, and Donna; relatives and many other friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Matt, on Oct. 20, 1984; three sisters, Theresa Carr, Donna Rae Popowski, and Romelle (Lou) Ciarroccca; five brothers, John, Leo, Edward, Lawrence, and Harry, and one great-grandson, Mitchell Ford.

Friends may call on Friday, June 14, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Wallace A. Grosenick
JUNEAU - Wallace A. Grosenick, 89, formerly of W3808, Iron Ridge, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 15, at 2 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. The Revs. Douglas Westenberg and Thomas Biedenbender will officiate. Burial will be in Hustisford cemetery.

Mr. Grosenick was born on June 11, 1913, in Hustisford, the son of Hugo and Leona Grosenick. He was married on June 4, 1938, to Elda Goecks at Cross Lutheran Church, Ixonia.

Mr. Grosenick attended Bethany Lutheran School, Hustisford. He farmed and was a mechanic where he owned and operated his own station in Woodland. He was later employed at California Canners and Growers, Lomira. He was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau, where he served on its finance committee. He was also a member of the Woodland Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed baseball, fishing and square dancing.

Survivors include, his wife, Elda Grosenick, Iron Ridge; two sons, Kenneth Grosenick, Canyon Country, Calif., and Dennis (Peggy) Grosenick, Hustisford; one brother, Arman (Betty) Grosenick, Juneau; two grandchildren, Erica and James Grosenick; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Evelyn Smitt, and two brothers, Donald and Vernon.

Friends may call on Saturday, June 15, from 11 a.m. until the time of service, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau, or the charity of one's choice.

Mary J. Abegglen
FALL RIVER - Mary J. Abegglen, 71, of 321 S. Main St., Fall River, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2002 at her home after a battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus. The Rev. James Bolda will officiate. Internment will be in Fall River cemetery.

Mrs. Abegglen was born on May 29, 1930 in Columbus the daughter of Benjamin and Golda (Schultz) Green. She was married to Reuben Abegglen on Sept. 2, 1948.

Mrs. Abegglen was formerly employed at Schumann Printers in Fall River for 13 years; Ann's Restaurant in Fall River for 10 years; and for the Fall River Post Office.

Survivors include her husband, Reuben of Fall River; four sons, Richard (Carol), Daniel (Marge); Brian (Vicki), Dale (Claudine), all of Fall River; two daughters, Cindy Dickerson and Jane (Gary) Oelke, both of Fall River; a daughter-in-law, Marie Abegglen, Fall River; 14 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; one sister, Audrey (Robert) Whitcomb, Madison; three brothers, Donald (Cookie) Green, Alabama, Russell (Marian) Green, Sun Prairie, and Dennis Green, Columbus; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Reggie.

Friends may call at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2002.

Brian R. Wegener
MAYVILLE - Brian R. Wegener, 44, 108 Bridge St., Mayville, died on Thursday, April 11, 2002 at his home.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, April 15 at Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville at 6 p.m. The Rev. Charles Wester will officiate.

Wegener was born Dec. 5, 1957 to Richard and Geraldine (Kahlhamer) Wegener in Beaver Dam. He attended Mayville High School and was employed at Lake Country Corp. of Mayville. He was a former union steward at Maysteel Corp. of Mayville. He struggled for many years with diabetes.

He is survived by his father, Richard Wegener; children, Brooke Wegener of Waupun; Ashley Wegener of Eau Claire; and Brennan Wegener of Waupun; his step-father Herman (Mary Jane Luehring) Moldenhauer of Mayville; sisters and brothers, Cindy (Chuck Freimann) Linskens of Iron Ridge; one step-sister Lois (Glen) Hoople of Ladysmith; one step-brother Richard Moldenhauer of Beaver Dam; special friend Karen Schulteis of Mayville and one granddaughter Kailey Wegener of Waupun. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1983, one step sister Deborah, and his grandparents.

Friends may call on Monday, April 15 at Koepsell Funeral Home Mayville from 4 to 6 p.m.

Molly A. Miller
WEST BEND - Molly A. Miller, 74, of West Bend, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital, West Bend.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, April 12, at 11 a.m., at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Mapleton. The Rev. David Verhasselt will officiate. Burial will be in St. Catherine cemetery, Mapleton.

Mrs. Miller was born on July 26, 1927, in Watertown, the daughter of William and Ruth Josephine (Day) Brennan. She was married on Nov. 18, 1944, to Francis John Miller at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Mapleton.

Mrs. Miller was a cook at Hartford Memorial Hospital for five years. She worked for various restaurants in Oconomowoc for many years. She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Mapleton.

Survivors include her husband, Francis Miller, West Bend; eight daughters, Linda (Lonnie) Thoe, Sheboygan, Susan (Richard) Walter, Watertown, Laurie Callies, West Bend, Mary Leinen, Chippewa Falls, Patricia Walters, Berlin, Colleen (Tom) Schuster, Iron Ridge, Bonnie (Tony) Thoreson, Fond du Lac, and Frances (Ron) Beall, West Bend; two sons, John (Cindy) Miller, Montello, and Glenn Miller, Beaver Dam; 29 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, James Brennan, Schofield, two sisters-in-law, Jeannie Brennan, Watertown, and June Brennan, Appleton; one brother-in-law, Richard Werner, Iowa; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Bill, John, Gerald, Gene, and twin brothers, Robert and Junior, at birth; four sisters, Patricia Werner, Elizabeth Schommer, and Dorothy and Peggy, as children.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 11, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer vigil at 7:45 p.m., at the Shimon Funeral Home, Hartford, and on Friday, April 12, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Mapleton.

Memorials may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, or the American Cancer Society.

Francis H. Cigelske
TOWN OF CALAMUS - Francis H. Cigelske, 87, of the town of Calamus, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 10 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery.

Mr. Cigelske was born on March 14, 1915, on the family homestead in the town of Calamus, the son of Peter and Sadie (Powers) Cigelske. He was married on Sept. 25, 1937, to Irene Neiman at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Cigelske was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, and a past member of the Pope John XXIII Council 1837 Beaver Dam Knights of Columbus. He farmed in the towns of Calamus and Elba throughout his entire life. Even on the day he died, he was on his tractor doing chores. He loved his animals and thoroughly enjoyed his life as a farmer. He was a wonderful husband and a great father.

He will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife, Irene Cigelske, town of Calamus; two daughters, Joan (Jim) Daniels, Beaver Dam, and Judith (Gerald) Welch, Fox Lake; three sons, Joseph Cigelske, Robert Cigelske. and Richard (Marlene) Cigelske, all of the town of Calamus; 17 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Winifred Liverseed, town of Calamus; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Victor Washtock, and three brothers, James, Joseph, and Bernard Cigelske.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 13, from 8 a.m. until the time of service at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Mary Ann Norenberg
WAUPUN - Mary Ann Norenberg, 84, of Waupun, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at the Waupun Christian Home.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 6, at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Waupun. The Rev. Michael F. Moran will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Norenberg was born on Sept. 29, 1917, in Wauzeka, the daughter of Thomas and Theresa (Pivet) Niland. She was married on June 22, 1946, to LaVern Norenberg in Boscobel.

Mrs. Norenberg received her bachelor's degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Following her education, she taught in Montfort and Waupun Senior High Schools. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, its Altar Society, and the Christian Home Auxiliary.

Survivors include cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern; her parents; one brother, and one sister.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Waupun.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Outreach program.

The Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, is serving the family.

Dakota J. Keel
Dakota James Nemmers Keel, 21 months old, of 239 Cherokee Road, Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, March 30, 2002, at University Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Friday, April 5, at 5 p.m., at the Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue, Iowa.

Infant Keel was born on June 14, 2000, in Waupun, the son of Audrey Nemmers.

Infant Keel showed a great fighting spirit and although his life was short, he touched many lives. We now give him to the safe, loving arms of Jesus.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Mary's Hospital, Madison, the University Hospital, Madison, the Dean Clinic and his home health nurses and therapists for all the love and kindness they showed to Dakota and his family.

Survivors include his mother, Audrey Nemmers, Beaver Dam; maternal grandparents, James and Beverly Nemmers; one aunt, Tonya Nemmers, Beaver Dam; maternal great-grandmothers, Grace Nemmers, La Motte, Iowa, and Mary Rowan, Maquoketa, Iowa; relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Friday, April 5, from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue, Iowa.

A Dakota Nemmers Keel Memorial fund has been established in care of Audrey Nemmers, Beaver Dam.

Doris E. Tonn
RANDOLPH - Doris E. Tonn, 83, 502 S. High St. Randolph, formerly of Waupun, died on Monday, April 1, 2002, at Continental Manor, Randolph.

The funeral will be held on Friday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun. The Rev. Richard Lawrence will officiate. Burial will be in the Cambria cemetery.

Mrs. Tonn was born on June 16, 1918, in the town of Kildare, Lyndon Station, the daughter of Joseph J. and Margaret (Schroeder) Weber. She was married on April 18, 1941, to William H. Tonn in Dubuque, Iowa.

Mrs. Tonn and her husband moved to the Waupun area in 1943. She was formerly employed with the Waupun Canning Company, the downtown Ben Franklin store, the Mode-O-Day dress shop, and for 13 years as a sales clerk with JCPenney. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun, and loved to play cards.

Survivors include one daughter, Marguerite Strehlow, Waupun; two grandsons, Mark Messner, Utah, and Scott (Jennifer) Messner, Fond du Lac; six great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Wallace Tonn, Randolph; one sister-in-law, Evaline Tonn, Menomonee Falls; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband William, on Dec. 4, 1987; her parents; three brothers-in-law, Edward, Walter, and Henry Tonn, and two sisters-in-law, Grace and Dorothy Tonn.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Friday, April 5, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun.

Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church roof fund.
