Jeannette H. Bork, 78, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Horicon, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Friday, March 29, at 10 a.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon. The Rev. Samuel Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery, Horicon.

Mrs. Bork was born on Aug. 20, 1923, in the town of Herman, the daughter of Hugo and Phoebe (Prame) Pagel. She was married to Cyril Bork.

Mrs. Bork was a graduate of Horicon High School and a lifelong resident of Dodge County.

Survivors include nine children, Sherry Lumby, Horicon, Cyril H. (Bonnie) Bork, Columbus, Pamela (Donald) Tietz, Beaver Dam, Roger Bork, Hartland, Terrence Bork, Beaver Dam, Timothy Bork, Oak Grove, Peter Bork, Beaver Dam, Lynn (Steven) Bork, Columbus, and Kathleen (Joseph) Ballweg, Rio; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; special friend and caregiver, Judy Peglow, fiancee of Terrance Bork; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hugo, in 1963; her mother, Phoebe, in 1992; two sons, Michael, in 1998, and Donald, in 2000, and one grandson, Allen Strassman, in 1995.

Friends may call on Friday, March 29, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon.

Larry E. Smith
RIO - Larry E. Smith, 54, of Rio, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m., at the Union Congregational Church, Rio. The Rev. Wm. Thomas Howie will officiate. Burial will be in Ohio cemetery, with full military rites.

Mr. Smith was born on Sept. 21, 1947, in Fort Atkinson, the son of Harry Smith and Helen (Hamby) Delaney. He was married on Feb. 16, 1985, to Deanne Bornfleth in Juneau County.

Mr. Smith attended Whitewater High School. He then entered the U.S. Army and served his country for four years being stationed in Germany. He and his wife moved to Rio 13 years ago, after having lived in Waterloo. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Dann and Wendt Inc., Rio, and also worked at Perry Printers, Waterloo. He ran a small engine repair shop in Rio, served on the Rio Fire Department for 11 years,was a member of the Tri-County Pullers, and a member of the Union Congregational Church, Rio.

Survivors include his wife, Deanne Smith, Rio; his parents, Harry Smith, Whitewater, and Helen (Larry) Delaney, South Carolina; five children, Dawn Hoeft, Beaver Dam, Donald (Carolina) Sculley, Fort Atkinson, Theresa (Don Abitz) Sculley, Fond du Lac, Weston (Kelly) Smith, Waunakee, and April Smith, at home; three brothers, Stan Smith, Rio, Duane Smith, Whitewater, and Steve (Gail) Smith, Sun Prairie; one sister, Debbie (Gordon) Blumenberg, Lake Mills; five grandsons; three granddaughters; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Collin Smith.

Friends may call on Friday, March 29, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Vangen Funeral Home, Rio, and on Saturday, March 30, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Union Congregational Church, Rio.

Bernard P. Arellano
BALTIMORE, Md. - Bernard P. Arellano, 37, of Baltimore, Md., died on Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Baltimore, Md.

There was a private funeral service and burial.

Mr. Arellano was born on Feb. 11, 1965, in Baltimore, Md., the son of Eduardo and Corazon (Porciuneula) Arellano.

Mr. Arellano was raised in Waupun. He was a 1987 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind., with a degree in business administration.

Survivors include his parents, Eduardo and Corazon Arellano; one brother, Ed Arellano, Irvine, Calif.; two sisters, Patricia Arellano, Reston, Va., and Dr. Aurora Arellano-Horstkamp, Duluth, Minn.; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandparents, and friends.

Memorials may be made to Johns Hopkins University, Dr. P. Barta's Research, 1 Charles Center Suite 400, 100 North Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21201.

The Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown, Md., served the family.

Harold C. Sandblom
Harold "Sandy" Carl Sandblom, of Evanston, Ill., died on Monday, April 15, 2002, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 19, at 1:30 p.m., at Northminister Presbyterian Church, 2515 Central Park, Evanston, Ill. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery, Skokie, Ill.

Mr. Sandblom was born on Aug. 13, 1918, in Evanston, Ill., the son of Charles and Mina (Johnson) Sandblom. He was married in 1940, to Virginia Fairfield.

Mr. Sandblom was a lifelong resident of Evanston, Ill. He attended North Park Academy, Chicago, and Beloit College. He was a prominent businessman in Evanston, Ill., and was instrumental in developing Central Motors, which became an automobile dealership that spanned three generations; established in 1921. As an entrepreneur in the automobile business, "Sandy" introduced people to many different types of automobiles in his early dealership days. He represented Crosley, Kaiser, Willy's, Desoto and finally Chrysler-Plymouth. For many years he served on the board of directors of the Chicago Auto Trade Association, as well as the Chrysler-Plymouth Dealers Association. A proud American, he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served his community as a lifelong member of the Evanston Optimist Club, and as a member of Northminister Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Lake Shore Club of Chicago. He enjoyed inviting his family and friends to his "cottage" on Lake Geneva. He traveled frequently to Palm Beach, Fla., where he was a member of the PGA Country Club.

Survivors include his beloved companion, Mildred Breurer, Northbrook, Ill.; three children, Thomas F. (Sue) Sandblom, Beaver Dam, Diane (Gene) Wheatley-Olson, Sugarland, Texas, and Jan (Joe) Swenson, Grayslake, Ill.; five grandchildren, Erik (Nancy) Sandblom, Richmond, Vt., Thomas (Dana Marklund) Sandblom Jr., Port Townsend, Wash., Michelle (Robert) Pajak, Kemah, Texas, Jennifer (Rich) Cichon, Des Plaines, Ill., and Kristen McCartney, Grayslake, Ill.; four great-grandchildren, Prairie, Soren, Marnie Sandblom, and Jillian Cichon; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.

Myra E. Strassburg
ELK GROVE, Calif. - Myra E. Strassburg, 79, of Elk Grove, Calif., died on Saturday, April 20, 2002.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 24, at 11 a.m., at East Lawn Memorial Chapel, Sacramento, Calif. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Strassburg was born on March 31, 1923, in Concord, the daughter of Roy and Myrtle Buske. She was married on Aug. 18, 1943, to Harvey A. Strassburg

Mrs. Strassburg and her husband farmed in Dodge County until October 1951, when the family moved to Lodi, Calif.

Survivors include two sons, Donald (Eve) Strassburg, Elk Grove, Calif., and Lee Strassburg, Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren; three brothers, Allan and Everett Buske, both of Beaver Dam, and Earl Buske, Watertown; Adeline Lange, Jean Schweistal, both of Beaver Dam, Sally Landcraf, Rome, Grace Milbrath, Sullivan, and Doris Drumheler, Sturgeon Bay; two sisters-in-law, Margaret (Hal) Gore, Carmichael, Calif., and Marjorie Braaksma, Chowchilla, Calif.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband,of 52 years, Harvey, in October 1994; one son, Dennis, in April 2001, and one sister, Marie Drumhler.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 24, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at East Lawn Memorial Chapel, Sacramento, Calif.

Florence J. Metke
MAYVILLE - Florence J. Metke, 91, formerly of 1641 Dayton St., Mayville, died on Monday, April 22, 2002, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 25, at 11 a.m., at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Horicon. The Rev. Brian Metke will officiate. Burial will be in Kekoskee cemetery.

Mrs. Metke was born on Feb. 7, 1911, in Knowles, the daughter of Edwin and Lillie (Ott) Marquart. She was married on March 18, 1938, to Alvin Metke in Knowles.

Mrs. Metke was a graduate of Dodge County Normal School and UW-Oshkosh. She was a special education teacher for 31 years, teaching in Oakfield, Eden, Kekoskee and Mayville. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Horicon, the Methodist Church Women, the Mayville Senior Center, the Mayville White Limestone School Restoration Corp., and local, state and national teachers organizations.

Survivors include two sons, David (Genoveva) Metke, Mayville, and L. Michael (Donna) Metke, Seattle; two stepsons, Dudley (Phyllis) Metke, Franksville, and Lyall (Audrey) Metke, Mayville; one daughter, Rosalie Wagner, South Milwaukee; one stepdaughter, Rosemond (Jerome) Zuelsdorf, Mayville; three sisters, Eunice Frisbie, Lowell, Lois Marquart, Ripon, and Arlene Unferth, Campbellsport; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin, in 1976; two brothers, Roy, in infancy, and Ruben, and two sisters, Ruth and Marie.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 25, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Horicon.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Horicon.

Eleanor Biever
WAUPUN - Eleanor Biever, 84, of Waupun, died on Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at the Christian Home, Waupun.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 25, at 11:30 a.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun. The Rev. Kenneth Loehrke will officiate. Burial will be on Friday, April 26, at 11 a.m., in Eastlawn cemetery, Beloit.

Mrs. Biever was born on Jan. 26, 1918, in Merrill, the daughter of Alonzo and Clara (Lambrecht) Klick. She was married to Eldred Biever.

Mrs. Biever and her husband lived in Beloit most of their married life. She moved to Waupun in 1989. She was an active member of the Waupun Hospital Auxiliary, a member of Pella Lutheran Church, Waupun, and its Ladies Aid.

Survivors include one sister, Lillian Oldenburg, Waupun; one local niece, Judy Werner Nugent, Waupun; many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred, in 1970; three brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 25, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun.

Memorials may be made to the Waupun Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Harry VanderVelde
MONONA - Harry VanderVelde, 86, of Monona, died on Sunday, April 21, 2002, after a long illness.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 25, at 1 p.m., at Lake Edge United Church of Christ, Buckeye Road, Madison.

Mr. VanderVelde was the son of Paul and Dora (Westra) VanderVelde.

Mr. VanderVelde was a 50-year resident of Monona. He grew up in Friesland, graduated from Randolph High School, then attended Oshkosh Business College. He served in the U.S. military medical corps in World War II in New Guinea, and later in Japan. He ran several restaurants early in his life in Milwaukee and Madison, and worked for Cuna Mutual, in charge of their cafeteria for more than 20 years. He was a member of Lake Edge United Church of Christ for 46 years, and the Monona Kiwanis. He was always ready to help his family, friends, community, and even strangers in need. He always had a kind word and an honest respect for his fellow man. He delighted in playing the piano, watching basketball, and lively conversation.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, DeLoris Schwantes VanderVelde; two daughters Lea (Johannes) Ledolter, Iowa City, Iowa, and Lori (Geoffrey) Hebron, Whitefish Bay; four grandsons, Keenan Hebron, William Hebron, Thomas Ledolter, and Jeffrey Ledolter; three sisters, Jeannette (Jacob) Sterk, Florida, Ruby (Art) Gilmaster, Wisconsin Rapids, and Perle (John) Vanderkolk Jr., Michigan; one brother, Merle (Mabel) VanderVelde, Cottage Grove; one aunt, Sadye Westra Stoltenberg, Tipton, Iowa; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Darwin; one sister, Joan VanderVelde Bauer, and one granddaughter, Sarah Helene Ledolter VanderVelde.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 25, from noon until the time of service at Lake Edge UCC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VanderVelde Reading Program of Monona Grove Public Schools, 100 Nichols Road, Monona WI 53716, or the scholarship program at Lake Edge UCC.

William A. Knoll
FOND DU LAC - William A. Knoll, 84, of 517 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, formerly of Mayville and Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, April 25, 2002, at the Grancare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Monday, April 29, at 11 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. John Breitwisch will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Mayville. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post 69.

Mr. Knoll was born on Feb. 9, 1918, in Mayville, the son of William E. and Leona (Hartwig) Knoll. He was married on June 9, 1945, to Marcella A. Quandt in Woodland.

Mr. Knoll was the postmaster at the Mayville Post Office, retiring in 1973. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 32nd Division Army Band from 1940 to 1945. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy (James) Gishkowsky, Oshkosh; two grandsons, Tony Gishkowsky, Oshkosh, and Noel Gishkowsky, Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marcella, in 1999, and one brother, Carl, in 1993.

Friends may call on Sunday, April 28, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, and on Monday, April 29, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Peace Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Joseph Krinke
STILLWATER, Okla.- Joseph Krinke, 71, of Stillwater, Okla., died on Wednesday, April 24, 2002, in Stillwater, Okla.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 30, at 2 p.m., at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel, Stillwater, Okla. The Rev. William Inglish will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial cemetery, Stillwater, Okla.

Mr. Krinke was born on Oct. 3, 1930, in Beaver Dam, the son of Joseph Geier and Erike Foerster. He was married on March, 1, 1951, to June Augustine Bruce in Reno, Nev. He was later married on June 24, 1991, to Eulah Bruce in Stateline, Nev.

Mr. Krinke was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force where he served four years. After leaving the Air Force, he moved back to Beaver Dam. He began work as a mechanic at Hoag Motors Chevrolet. He later moved to Fairfield, Calif., and then Lodi, Calif., where he opened his own business as an auto mechanic. After his second marriage, he and his wife moved to Stillwater, Okla., where they lived until his death. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the Boy Scouts of America. He attended church at St. Paul's American Lutheran, Lodi, Calif., then First Christian Church, Stillwater, Okla.

Survivors include his second wife, Eulah Krinke, Stillwater, Okla.; two sons, Andrew (Rose) Krinke, Sacramento, Calif., and Eric Krinke, Puyallup, Wash.; one daughter, Melissa Krinke, Lodi, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Mary Bruce, Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Athena, Charles, John, and Kristy; one sister, Eunice (John) Wood, Hot Springs Village, Ark.; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, June, on Jan. 20, 1990.

The Strode Funeral Home, Stillwater, Okla., is serving the family.
