Edward A. Hankes
Edward A. Hankes, 79, of 210 Francis Court, Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, April 27, 2002, after a long battle with cancer at his home surrounded by his family.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, May 2, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Inurnment of cremains will be at St. Peter's Catholic cemetery, Beaver Dam

Ed was born on Nov. 13, 1922, in Fort Atkinson, the son of John and Catherine (Lies) Hankes. He was married to Bernadette G. Wondra on June 22, 1946, at St. Matthew's Catholic Parish, Campbellsport.

Ed attended St. Joseph's School in Fort Atkinson, St. Peter's School in Beaver Dam, graduated from Beaver Dam High School and attended two years of vocational traning. After high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. and terminated his duty as staff sergeant in 1945. He participated in the invasions of the Marshall Islands and Okinawa. He was a past member of the Beaver Dam American Legion Post No. 146 and had served as finance officer. He was the owner and operator of Hankes Decorators Inc. He was a very active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, especially in the area of music. He and his wife established and directed the funeral choir named "The New Life Choir." He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He had a great love and talent for refurbishing religious artifacts and furniture. He enjoyed wine making, golf, bowling, camping and extensive traveling. One of his greatest enjoyments in life was his "Grandpa's Club", his beloved grandchildren.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 2, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or Hillside Home Care/Hospice.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Marion R. Wermuth
Marion "Dolly" R. Wermuth, 75, of Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at her home.

There will be no services. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery, Madison.

Mrs. Wermuth was born on May 15, 1927, in Fort Atkinson, the daughter of Carl and Alice (Frenzel) Urban. She was married on July 16, 1949, to Ronald Wermuth at St. James Catholic Church, Madison.

Mrs. Wermuth attended Fort Atkinson High School. She worked at Oscar Mayer, Madison, for many years, and at American Packaging, Columbus.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all care givers at the Beaver Dam Hospice Program.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Wermuth, Beaver Dam; four children, Michael (Terry) Wermuth, Waterloo, Jeanie Jones, Reeseville, Patrick Wermuth, Wisconsin Dells, and Lisa (Randy) Hahn, Reeseville; 13 grandchildren, Robin (Christian) Gonzalez, Jill Wermuth, Jarrod, Alexandra and Victoria Jones, Jessica, Amanda, Ryan,, Tyler, ShiAnne and Dylan Wermuth, Melissa Wermuth, and Alicia Hahn; she was blessed with one beautiful great-granddaughter, Kallee Jean Denault; one brother, Carl (Lou) Urban, Waring, Texas; two sisters, Jeanie (Frank) Potter, Chicago, Ill., and Susie (Jed) Heinz, Groveland, Fla.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Daniel, in 1962, and one sister, Pauline Kuykendall.

There will be no visitation.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Albert J. Evans
MILWAUKEE - Albert J. Evans, 81, died on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Rita Catholic Church, 2318 S. 61st, West Allis. Burial will be on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at 2 p.m., in St. Joseph cemetery, Waukesha.

Mr. Evans was a veteran of World War II and a retired employee of the Heil Co.

He was the beloved husband of Lorraine (nee Biwer) Evans; loving dad of Cindy (Jon) Skavlem, and Brian (Linda) Evans; dear grandpa of Nick, Kurt and Kory; dear brother of Phyllis DeWitt; special friend of Ellen. He is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral Home, 1515 W. Oklahoma Ave., Milwaukee, and on Wednesday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Rita Catholic Church.

Lawrence F. Brown
OSHKOSH - Lawrence "Larry" F. Brown, 70, of Oshkosh, died from cancer on Friday, Aug. 2, 2002.

By his request there will be no visitation or services. Cremation has taken place with inurnment in Calvary cemetery, Waupun.

Mr. Brown was born on March 28, 1932, in Waupun, the son of Bert C. and Bevis E. (Fleming) Brown.

Mr. Brown attended Waupun schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on April 21, 1949, at age 17. He retired from the Air Force on June 2, 1972. During his Air Force career he served in England, Germany, and four years in Vietnam. He served in Vietnam with the Aerospace Rescue Recovery (Detachment 12, 38th Air Rescue Recovery Squad). He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Germany Occupation Medal, the Army/Air Force Good Conduct medals and other decorations and awards. He retired with the rank of technical sergeant. Following his retirement from the military, he was employed by the state of Wisconsin, Department of Corrections, where he worked for 23 years. He was a psychiatric officer II at Central State Hospital, Waupun. At Waupun and Oshkosh Correctional Institutions until his retirement in March of 1997. He then worked for his son, Chas, who is still owner/operator of Broweld Fabrication Co., Brillion. Due to ill health, he quit in 1999.

Survivors include four sons, Chas (Bonnie) Brown, Brillion, David (Jennifer) Brown, Fond du Lac, Marty (Tamara) Brown, Waukesha, and Paul (Kristina) Brown, Oshkosh; three daughters, Deborah Brown, Fond du Lac, Carole (Scott Frank) Brown, Oshkosh, and Susan Brown, Pickett; two brothers, James (Karen) Brown, Waupun, and his twin Robert (Rachel) Brown, St. Michaels, Md.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Kenneth and Brian.

The Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, is serving the family.

Leona M. Schraufnagel
LOMIRA - Leona M. Schraufnagel, 76, of 438 Ashford Ave., Lomira, died on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at the Hope Health and Rehabilitation Center.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 4 p.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira. The Rev. Charles Wester officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery, Lomira.

Mrs. Schraufnagel was born on March 7, 1926, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Roman and Leona (Czoschke) Bauer. She was married on Sept. 7, 1946, to Carl J. Schraufnagel in LeRoy.

Mrs. Schraufnagel farmed with her husband in the LeRoy area until 1973. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira, and the Christian Mothers.

Survivors include two sons, Carl (Nancy) Schraufnagel, Juneau, and Fred (Alyce) Schraufnagel, Lomira; one sister, Romona (Courtland) Sperger Sr., Waupun, and Raymond (Elaine) Schraufnagel, Fond du Lac; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Schraufnagel, in 1982, and one son, Joseph Schraufnagel, in 1991.

Friends called on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 2 p.m. until the time of service at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lomira.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, served the family.

Edith LeBeau
WAUPUN - Edith LeBeau, 67, of Waupun, died on Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at her home.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 6, at 5 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, Fond du Lac. The Rev. Barbara Carmichael will officiate.

Mrs. LeBeau was born on Oct. 15, 1934, in Brazil, the daughter of Francisco and Eugenia (Bartsch) Thurck. She was married on Aug. 17, 1968, to James LeBeau in Holt. Mich.

Mrs. LeBeau immigrated to the United States and became a U.S. citizen on May 1, 1969. While living in Brazil, she graduated from high school and received her bachelor's degree in accounting. After marriage she was employed as an accountant for Michigan State University. In 1974, she and her husband moved to Clearwater, Fla., where they resided until 1983, at which time they moved to Cedarburg. She was employed by various companies as an accountant and in her later years was self-employed. She owned a craft business, which specialized in designing dolls. She was an elder and deacon at Crossroads Church, Mequon, while residing in Cedarburg. She moved to Waupun in 2001, where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fond du Lac.

Survivors include two daughters, Michelle (Robert) Bruene, Waupun, and Lori LeBeau, Rochester, Minn.; two grandchildren, Madaline and Mikayla Bruene; one sister, Margot Miers, Campinas, Brazil; one brother, Rolf Thurck, Tatuape, Brazil; nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 4 p.m. until the time of the service, at the First Presbyterian Church, Fond du Lac.

A memorial has been established in Edith's name.

Carol J. Klink
JUNEAU - Carol J. Klink, 55, of Juneau, died on Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at her home.

A gathering will be held to honor Carol on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 1 p.m. at the Juneau Rod and Gun Club, N4444 Primrose Lane, Juneau. Food and beverages will be provided. All friends and family are invited to attend. Burial will be in Juneau City cemetery.

Ms. Klink was born on July 14, 1947, in Rome, Wis., the daughter of Fred and Rose (Hundt) Wiese.

Ms. Klink was a 1965 graduate of Juneau High School and was employed at USDA in Juneau. She was on two bowling leagues, enjoyed gardening, watching her son play in his band, and traveling with her daughter.

Survivors include one son, Chad Klink, Juneau; one daughter, Brooke Klink, St. Paul, Minn.; her first husband, Kenneth Klink, Juneau; her second husband, Ronald Uttech, Juneau; one brother, Fred Wiese, Watertown; three sisters, Judy Fosdal, Sharon Henriott, both of Watertown, and Mary Kasten, Juneau; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Louis and George Gorski; two sisters, Rosemary (Gorski) Kirkpatrick, and Anne (Wiese) Welch, and one niece, Heather Kasten.

The family wishes to thank all friends and relatives for the amazing amount of cards, flowers, balloons and gifts; her co-workers for donating their vacation time and sick leave; and the American Cancer Society for their comfort and generosity. Carol greatly appreciated all of you.

Richard A. Moritz Sr.
BURNETT - Richard A. Moritz Sr., 57, of N9189 Highway I, Burnett, died on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m., at Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Steven Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Garden, town of Trenton. Graveside military rites will be provided by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post 146.

Mr. Moritz was born on Dec. 31, 1944, in Beaver Dam, the son of Arnold and Maxine (Guthrie) Moritz. He was married to Carrie L. Frank on Oct. 12, 1968, in Free Methodist Church, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Moritz was a 1963 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. He was employed in route sales and later managed Coca-Cola in Beaver Dam. He was a welder at John Deere and Metalcraft and later a taxi driver for S & R Taxi, Beaver Dam. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic. He served four years in Vietnam, Thailand, California, Texas, New Jersey and Hawaii. He was proud to serve his country. He loved people, gardening and fishing. He was an avid history buff. He was a proud father, husband and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Carrie Moritz, Burnett; one son, Richard "Rick" Moritz Jr., Beaver Dam; one daughter, Tami (Keith) Binder, Juneau; one grandson, Brandon Binder, Juneau; his mother, Maxine Moritz, Beaver Dam; one sister, Pat (Eugene) Swan, Beaver Dam; two brothers, Ken (Susan) Moritz, Madison, and Don (Wendy) Moritz, Oshkosh; his mother-in-law, Lillie Frank, Burnett; one brother-in-law, Jim (Lyn) Frank, Burnett; one sister-in-law, Betty Miller, Burnett; aunts, nieces, nephews, great-nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold; his grandparents; his father-in-law, Milton Frank; and uncles and friends.

Friends may call on Monday, Aug. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the funeral home.Carol J. Klink

Martha A. Klumb
Martha A. "Marti" Klumb, 92, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Thiensville, died Monday, July 29, 2002, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. William Key will officiate. Entombment will be in Oakwood Mausoleum, town of Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Klumb was born on March 6, 1910, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Jacob and Agnes Kleczka. She was married on Aug. 6, 1932, to Edmund Klumb in Milwaukee.

Mrs. Klumb was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia (Dick) McMillan, Beaver Dam; three grandsons, Christopher McMillan, Beaver Dam, Patrick (Diane) Selk, Thiensville, and Shawn (Amy Strabhaar) Selk, Milwaukee; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edmund; one daughter, Joan Selk; brothers and sisters.

Friends may call on Friday, Aug. 2, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Elenora F. Schulz
WATERTOWN - Elenora F. Schulz, 96, of 1020 Hill St., Watertown, formerly of 208 Emerald St., Watertown, died on Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Marquardt Memorial Manor, due to the infirmities of age.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, Aug. 4, at 2 p.m., at Bethany Chapel at Marquardt Memorial Manor, Watertown. The Rev. James Werner will officiate. Burial will be in the Juneau City cemetery, Juneau.

Miss Schulz was born on April 8, 1906, in the town of Oak Grove, the daughter of Albert and Anna (Holznagel) Schulz.

Miss Schulz was educated at St. John's Lutheran School, Juneau. She was confirmed on June 22, 1918, and was a member of the congregation for many years. She was employed as a private housekeeper for many years and was especially fond of her memories of working for the late Kathryn Skinner household in Watertown. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown. She was the last member of her immediate family.

Survivors include one nephew, Ronald (Kate) Schulz, Matthews, N.C.; one grand-nephew, Todd (Deanna) Schulz, Appleton; one grand-niece, Dr. Tara Schulz, Denver, Colo.; relatives and many friends at Marquardt Village.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Howard Schulz, and two sisters, Irene, and Minnie Schulz.

Friends may call on Sunday, Aug. 4, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at Bethany Chapel at Marquardt Memorial Manor, Watertown.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Mueller Apartments and Marquardt Memorial Manor for their excellent care during the last four years.
