ABBEVILLE, La. - Billie J. Guidry, 48, died on July 12. 2002, at Abbeville Hospital, Abbeville, La.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle Mathweg Guidry; three sons, Billie Jo Guidry and Jonathan Guidry, both of Delcambre, La., and Bryan Guidry, Fond du Lac; two daughters, Ashley Guidry, Delcambre, La. and Jennifer Guidry, Waupun; three grandchildren; his father, Herbert Guidry, Maurice, La.; his mother, Roberta Garb, Waupun; five brothers, Patrick Guidry, Maurice, La., Kenneth Guidry, Baton Rouge, La., Kirk Garb, Ohio, Randy Garb, Beaver Dam, and Dwayne Garb, Fox Lake; two sisters, Kathy Garb, Taylor, Ohio, and Charlene Menard, Maurice, La.; mother- and father-in-law, Bobbie and Jerry Mathweg; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Tim and Cathy Mathweg, Joey and Mikey, all of Fond du Lac, Heidi and Mark Wallace, and Sarah, all of Beaver Dam, Robin Mathweg, Shakapee, Minn., and Tony Mathweg, Fond du Lac; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Guidry.

Ervin J. Barstow
Ervin J. Barstow, 93, of Beaver Dam, died on Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m., at the Randolph United Methodist Church, Randolph. The Rev. Paul Fisher will officiate. A Masonic service will be held at 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Courtland cemetery, town of Courtland. A luncheon will follow in the Randolph Community Room, in the Randolph Village Hall.

Mr. Barstow was born on April 25, 1909, in the town of Courtland, the son of James and Emma (Radel) Barstow. He was married to Eva Grace Chrislaw on Nov. 3, 1937, in the town of Trenton.

Mr. Barstow graduated from South Randolph Rural School and then attended Randolph High School. He farmed in the Westford and Courtland townships until retiring and moving to Beaver Dam 10 years ago. He worked as a sales dealer for Renk Seed Co. for 38 years. He was a retired life member of Holstein Association, a member of Dodge County Lodge 72 F&AM, a member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 144, Waupun, and a 4-H leader for over 25 years. He was a lifelong member of Courtland United Methodist Church, where he served as trustee for several years.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Eva Grace; six children, Helen Ann Weisensel, James (Mary Alice) Barstow, Roy Barstow, Joanne Fadness, and Christine (Peter) Knaup, all of Beaver Dam, and Mary Jean (Adrian) Kurth, Brown Deer; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gary in infancy; one son-in-law, Lyle Weisensel; his twin sister, Eva Mae Achterberg, and two step-brothers, Earl and Harvey Barstow.

Friends may call on Monday, Aug. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Randolph United Methodist Church, and on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

The Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake, is serving the family.

Martha B. Steil
MAYVILLE - Martha B. Steil, 91, formerly of W1488 Iowa Road, Mayville, died on Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 1 p.m., at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Iron Ridge. The Rev. Larry Mose will officiate. Burial will be in St. Matthew's cemetery, Iron Ridge.

Mrs. Steil was born on Aug. 9, 1911, in Cook County, Ill., the daughter of Matthias and Anna (Staade) Schaefer. She was married on Dec. 15, 1948, to Chester R. Steil in Niles, Ill.

Mrs. Steil and her husband farmed in the town of Herman. She was a member of St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Iron Ridge.

Survivors include one son, Randall (Luella) Steil, Mayville; one daughter, Roseanne (Mark) Tessmer, Rogers, Minn.; eight grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Steil, in 1997; one sister, and three brothers.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from noon until the time of service at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Iron Ridge.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.

Mabel Washtock
CAMPBELLSPORT - Mabel Washtock, 97, of Campbellsport, formerly of Beaver Dam, died on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m., at the Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, Armstrong. The Rev. Kevin Wester will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery, town of Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Washtock was born on Oct. 11, 1904, in Otsego, the daughter of George and Margaret (Hegetschweiler) DeVolve. She was married on July 8, 1925, to Stanley Washtock at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Washtock worked for the Bear Brand Hosiery Co., Beaver Dam, until they closed and moved to Illinois. She also worked as a domestic for several families in the Beaver Dam area as well as cleaning offices and working in the stocking factory for a short time. During World War II, she worked at Monarch Range assembling shells for the war effort. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, where she had been active in the Christian Women and the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Christian Women and the Rosary Society in Armstrong.

Survivors include one daughter, Edith Kreger, Campbellsport; four grandchildren, Gary (Louise) Kreger, Eagle River, Mary (David) Vesper, Malone, Kay (John) Hackbarth, Wisconsin Rapids, and Victoria (fiance Dean Guell) Pionke, Fond du Lac; seven great-grandchildren, Nichole Vesper, Michelle (fiance Adam Arndt) Vesper, Adam Vesper, Michael Pionke, Jennifer Pionke, all of Fond du Lac, Michael and Thomas Guell; two great-great-grandsons, Isaiha Vesper, and Joel Arndt; one sister-in-law, Laura Fields, Randolph; nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley Washtock, in 1967; one daughter, Audrey Washtock, in 1976; one son-in-law, Elwood Kreger; one sister, Phoebe (Henry) Warncke; two brothers, Robert (Esther) DeVolve, and Louie DeVolve, and six grandchildren

Friends may call on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, Armstrong.

Dorothea M. Mueller
MAYVILLE - Dorothea "Dorothy" Martha Mueller, 88, of 103 S. John St., Mayville, died on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Aug. 19, at 3 p.m., at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Amy Engebose will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Mayville.

Mrs. Mueller was born on Jan. 24, 1914, in Medford, the daughter of Charles and Martha (Werner) Krueger. She was married on June 17, 1937, to Edgar G. Mueller at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Mrs. Mueller was a 1931 graduate of Medford High School. She moved to Milwaukee, and attended Miss Brown's Business School, and was employed at B&B Shoe Factory. The factory relocated to Mayville where she met her husband Edgar, who worked across the street at the print shop. She was a member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville, taught Sunday school for 34 years and was a member of the Altar Guild. She enjoyed classical music and gardening.

Survivors include one son, David Mueller, Mayville; two daughters, Kay (Robert) Peterson, Milan, Italy, and Faith (Dr. Edward K.) Rath, New Berlin; one sister, Mildred Krueger, Medford; nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar Mueller, in March 2001; one brother, Herbert, and one sister, Bertha Rehbein.

Friends may call on Monday, Aug. 19, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church organ fund.

Inez S. Fischer
TAWAS CITY, Mich. - Inez S. Fischer, 88, formerly of Juneau, died on Monday, Aug. 5, 2002.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 3 p.m., at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Juneau.

Mrs. Fischer was born on July 30, 1914, in Randolph, the daughter of Douwe and Cora Boersma. She was married in 1938, to Arthur E. Fischer of New Raymer, Colo.

Mrs. Fischer was employed as a waitress at the Red and White Lunch restaurant, managing the financial accounts for her husband's Pontiac dealership in Juneau, and transporting disabled children to and from school as a driver for the local CESA.

Survivors include one son, Charles, St. Peters, Mo.; one daughter, Mary Beth, Blue Bell, Pa.; four grandchildren, Patti Fields, Robby Fischer, Brittnie Banks Rossi, and Nell Banks; six grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Bobby, Amber, Emily, and Addison; her faithful and attentive friend, Peter Bernhardt, Tawas City, Mich.; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Fischer, in 1981.

Memorials may be made to St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Juneau, in Inez's honor.

Margery Woodward
Margery Woodward, 94, formerly of Juneau and Mayville, died on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, at Hillside Manor Nursing Home, Beaver Dam.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 1 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Paul Foulkes will officiate. Burial will be in Pardeeville cemetery.

Mrs. Woodward was born on Sept. 16, 1907, in the town of Scott, the daughter of Henry and Ruth Keith. She had two brothers and one sister. She was married on June 24, 1931, to Edward Woodward of Pardeeville.

Mrs. Woodward and her brothers walked one mile to a one room school house during her grade school years. Later she rode her horse to Pardeeville High School and graduated in 1925. She attended Stevens Point College where she graduated in 1927. She completed advanced study at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and received her bachelor of science degreein kindergarten-primary education in 1964. She taught in Oconto Falls, Berlin, and Juneau, where she retired from in 1973, teaching for a total of 25 years. She and her husband were married over 50 years. They had moved to Juneau in 1931, where he was engaged in the jewelry business for over 50 years. She always showed a great interest in her husband's business. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Juneau, and the United Methodist Women. It was wonderful that this group visited her at Hillside Manor.

Mrs. Woodward lived in her home until July 1993, at which time she moved to Friendship Manor, Mayville. In April 1998, she became a resident of Hillside Manor. While at Hillside Manor, she was involved in many activities such as attending church services regularly, the Tone Chimes, the resident council, caring for the flower boxes, crafts, greeting new residents, reading group, and the Spatula's Baking Group. Among her many hobbies were collecting glass slippers, glassware, gardening, music, poetry and reading of any kind. She had many visitors including friends, former students and relatives. She was the last living relative in the Keith family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Robert) Nagel, Horicon, and Edrie Pagel, Watertown; three grandsons, Keith (Pat) Nagel, Juneau, Lee (Sandy) Nagel, Atlanta, and Scott (Diane) Nagel, Juneau; one granddaughter, Heather (Tim) Hammond, Watertown; two great-grandchildren, Blaine Nagel, Juneau, and Madeline Hammond, Watertown; a third great- grandchild is expected in September; relatives and friends

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Woodward, in October 1982; two brothers, George and Kenneth Keith; one sister, Eleanor Hull, and one granddaughter, Melody Nagel.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church, Juneau.

Rhett A. Back
MELROSE - Rhett A. Back, 11 months, died on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at 11 a.m., at St. John's Catholic Church, Whitehall. The Rev. James Arthur will officiate. Burial will be in the Lincoln cemetery, Whitehall.

Rhett Black was born on Aug. 27, 2001, in Eau Claire, the son of Russell and Mary (Matchey) Back.

Survivors include his parents, Russell and Mary Back, Melrose; one half-sister, Allison Back, Hustisford; maternal grandmother, Margaret Matchey, Whitehall; paternal grandparents, Robert and Anita Back, Hustisford; and paternal great-grandfather, Roger Back, Pigeon Falls.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Richard Matchey.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Christian prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Jack Funeral Home, Whitehall, and on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. John's Catholic Church, Whitehall.

Verna E. Ayers
RACINE - Verna E. Ayers, 65, of Racine, died on Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m., at the Hanson Funeral Home, 3014 Northwestern Ave., Racine. The Rev. David Wierschke will officiate. Burial will be on Friday, Aug. 30, at 10:30 a.m., in St. John's cemetery, Mayville.

Mrs. Ayers was born on Jan. 18, 1937, the daughter of Walter A. and Viola (Benninger) Klug. She was married on May 18, 1957, to Gerald R. Ayers in Juneau.

Mrs. Ayers was a lab courier at All Saints Lab, Racine, retiring in September 2001. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Caledonia.

Survivors include one son, Timothy Ayers, Burlington; two daughters, Cheryl (Edward) Rebhahn, Viroqua, and Emelia (Patrick) Belland, Milwaukee; six grandchildren; five sisters; two brothers; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Steven Ayers, on Feb. 10, 1987; two brothers, and one sister.

Friends may call on Thursday, Aug. 29, from 5 p.m. until the time of service at The Hanson Funeral Home, Racine.

Memorials made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 7900 Nicholson Road, Caledonia, WI 53108, are suggested.

Janet Wuerch
MANCHESTER - Janet Wuerch, 73, of Manchester, died on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Meriter Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Manchester. The Rev. Michael Plagenz will officiate. Burial will be in Manchester cemetery.

Mrs. Wuerch was born on March 2, 1929, the daughter of John and Minnie (Buwalda) Evers. She was married on March 31, 1950, to Floyd Ferrell at the First Reformed Church, Randolph, by the Rev. Van Ferrell.

Mrs. Wuerch was a homemaker and worked at a variety of jobs such as the Fall River Canning Factory and the Markesan Resident Home, and loved her family.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd Wuerch, Manchester; two sons, Ron (Eileen) Wuerch, Markesan, and Roger (Marie) Wuerch, Friesland; one daughter, Carol (Robert) Schmidt, Aurora, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, Lisa (Brent) Burdick, Tammie (Joseph) Emery, Trisha (Jason) Festerling, Kristi Wuerch, Jessica, Janette James and Jill Schmidt, Justin and Kayla Wuerch; one great-granddaughter, Grace Mae Burdick; two brothers, William Evers, Grand Rapids, Mich., and John (Jane) Evers, Columbus; five sisters, Anna Pahl, Randolph, Catherine (Katie) (Loren) Pahl, Cambria, Fran (Harold) Devries, Margaret (Elwood) Rahn, both of Randolph, and Minnie (Wayne) Rahn, Ripon; one sister-in-law, Irma Bernhagen; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Edward and Thomas Evers, and three sisters, Dena Vinning, and two in infancy.

Friends may call on Saturday, Aug. 31, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Manchester.

A memorial has been established.
