Dora M. Pegelow
HORICON - Dora M. Pegelow, 92, of Horicon, died on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon. The Rev. Dennis Sundell will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery, Horicon.

Mrs. Pegelow was born on Feb. 23, 1910, in Tomahawk, the daughter of Ben and Bertha (Berg) Mentink. She was married on Dec. 20, 1930, to Erwin Pegelow in the town of Hubbard.

Mrs. Pegelow lived in the Horicon area for many years where she farmed with her husband. She was a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Survivors include three sons, Harry (Bernice) Pegelow, Lester (Darlene) Pegelow, and Harlan (Barbara) Pegelow, all of Horicon; 10 grandchildren, Judy (Terry Bork) Pegelow, Roy, John Rosemary (Emerson) Beier, Steven, Susan (John) Moe, David, Connie (John) Hosfield, Tammie (Tom Tavafil) Pegelow, and Jeanne (Jay) Rotter; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Leona (Elmer) Strege, Watertown; one brother, Irvin Mentink, Horicon; one sister-in-law, Norma Mentink, Horicon; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin Pegelow, on Oct. 7, 1998; four brothers, Charles, Louis, Ernie and Ben, and two sisters, Bertha Heideman and Louise Pirola.

Friends may call on Friday, Aug. 30, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon.

Hannah M. Straley
GREENVILLE - Hannah Mae Straley, beautiful infant daughter of Patricia (Linke) Schmuhl and Jerry Straley Jr., Greenville, died on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Madison.

A private family graveside service was held on Thursday, Aug. 29, at Riverside Memorial Park cemetery, Fox Lake. The Rev. David Hussman officiated.

She will be sadly missed and mourned by her parents; siblings, Dianna, Hoshua, Jacob, Autumn, Mikayla, Dakota, Drew and Abby; grandparents, Dennis (Diann) Linke, Fox Lake, Jerry (Cynthia) Straley Sr., Fond du Lac; great-grandparents, Margaret Schears, Waupun, Martha Betry, Fond du Lac, and Vivian Straley, northern Wisconsin; godparents, Paul Linke, Juneau, Camaryn Meyer, Kenosha; aunts, April (Paul) White, South Dakota, Diana (Ted) Beard, Columbus, Kimberly Linke, Beaver Dam, Jennie (John) Moore, Jamie and Jessica Straley, all of Fond du Lac; uncles, Paul Link, Dick Linke, both of Juneau, and Jason Straley, Fond du Lac; relatives and family friends.

The Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake, served the family.

Charles D. Lehmann
LOWELL - Charles "Charlie" D. Lehmann, 83, of N2718 Maiden Lane Road, Lowell, died on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at the Columbus Care Center.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 1:30 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, N2296 Highway I, Reeseville. The Rev. Lowell Holtz will officiate. Inurnment will be held at Lowell cemetery.

Mr. Lehmann was born on Sept. 10, 1918, in the town of Elba, the son of Edwin and Lillie (Schuenke) Lehmann. He was married on May 3, 1952, to Lila Clark in Reeseville.

Mr. Lehmann was a 1936 graduate of Columbus High School. He farmed and later he was a Moorman's Feed salesman until his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Reeseville. He enjoyed hunting and riding his Harley.

Survivors include his companion, Loriene Benninger, Reeseville; one nephew, Donald (Elizabeth) Lehmann, Neenah; one niece, Jean (Dick) Hill, Harvard, Ill.; two brothers-in-law, Lynn (Carol) Clark, Reeseville, and Lee (Alene) Reinhard, Montrose, Colo.; five sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Edward) Hahn, Reeseville, Anna (Harold) Else, Theresa (Charles) Schaller, both of Arbor Vitae, Janice (Marvin) Borth, Mercer, and Sarah (Elmer) Graveen, Lac du Flambeau; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lila Lehmann, on Feb. 21, 1995, and one brother, Robert Lehmann.

Friends may gather from 1 p.m. until the time of service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Reeseville. There will be a time of fellowship at the church immediately following the committal service.

Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church repair fund.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Reeseville, is serving the family.

Margaret C. Schwonke
FOX LAKE - Margaret C. Schwonke, 87, of Fox Lake, died on Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Schwonke was born on July 5, 1914, in Rio, the daughter of Daniel and Nora (Martin) Hall. She was married in 1948, to Melvin Schwonke in Milwaukee.

Mrs. Schwonke grew up and attended a local school in the Rio area. She was a member of the Robert W. Ginther American Legion Auxiliary Unit 521 of Fox Lake, and served as past auxiliary president. She enjoyed gardening, especially tending to her rose bushes.

She will be sadly missed and mourned by two children, Dean (Sherry) Mielke, Appleton, and Sharon (Don) Pillsbury, Fox Lake; two grandchildren, Wendy (Chris) Hopp, Green Bay, and Ward (Jean) Pillsbury, Beaver Dam; four great-granddaughters, Ashley and Cassandra Hopp, Jessica and Abby Pillsbury; two brothers, Harold (Paula) Hall, Dover, Ark., and Daniel W. (Lucy) Hall, Rio; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin, on Oct. 20, 1984, and one daughter, Patsy, in 1965.

The Kratz-Smedema Funeral Home, Fox Lake, is serving the family.

Thomas M. Fox
MARKESAN/CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Thomas Marvin Fox died unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville, Fla.

There will be no service and inurnment will take place at the Lakeview Memorial Park, Oshkosh, at a later date.

Mr. Fox was born on Sept. 16, 1947, in Hartford, the son of Marvin and Hazel (Hunger) Fox.

Mr. Fox resided in Lowell for the early years of his life. He graduated from Reeseville High School. He worked with his father in the feed business for many years. He was a part-time trucker for Badger Trucking in Oshkosh.

Survivors include his mother, Hazel Fox, Markesan; one sister, Susan (David) Neuberger, Beaver Dam; one nephew, Joshua Neuberger, Menomonie; one niece, Alyson, Beaver Dam, one uncle, Gordon (Delores) Hunger, Ripon; one aunt, Everdine (Lester) Miller, Cove, Ore.; cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin in 1997; his grandparents, William and Viola Hunger, and Edward and Fern Fox, all formerly of Ripon.

Edith R. Frosch
Edith R. Frosch, 89, of Beaver Dam, died on Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

There will be no funeral service. Burial of the cremains will take place in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam, at a later date.

Mrs. Frosch was born on July 2, 1912, in Iowa, the daughter of William J. and Effie May (Cowell) Richardson. She was married to Coyt Stevenson. She was married on Aug. 16, 1952, to Virgil A. Frosch.

Mrs. Frosch was a sales clerk at JCPenney Co., and a cook at Beaver Dam High School and Old Hickory Country Club.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Carol (Jerry) Gilmore, Beaver Dam, and Ann Lambrecht, Austin, Texas; one stepson, Richard (Karla) Frosch, New Mexico; one brother, William Richardson, Washington; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Coyt Stevenson; her second husband, Virgil Frosch, two daughters, Judy Dietz and Marita "Gypsy" Schwoch.

There will be no visitation.

Michael R. Nemec
Michael Robert Nemec, 66, of W10972 Glen Drive, Beaver Dam, formerly of Milwaukee, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at his home.

No funeral services will be held.

Mr. Nemec was born on March 24, 1935, in Milwaukee, the son of Michael Theodore and Gertrude (Michalski) Nemec. He was married to Marta Alice Kanvik on Oct. 30, 1982.

Mr. Nemec was a truck driver for Roadway. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and served as a past steward.

Survivors include his wife, Marta Alice Nemec; one son, Robert Michael (Mary) Nemec; one daughter, Patty (Scott) Marsolek; his father, Michael T. Nemec; one brother, Ronald P. Nemec; two grandchildren, Robert Michael Nemec Jr. and Angela Marsolek; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother; and various aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Burt S. Hayward
BELOIT - Burt S. Hayward, 72, of 2022 Highland Ave., Beloit, died on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Beloit. The Rev. Harriet G. Shands will officiate. Burial will be in the Chapel of Joseph of Arimathea Columbarium.

Mr. Hayward was born on Feb. 22, 1929, in Beloit, the son of Burt and Marie "Mary" (Pellum) Hayward. He was married on Nov. 17, 1948, to Patricia A. Dooley in Dubuque, Iowa. He was later married on Aug. 26, 2000, to Ann Salisbury-Robson in Beloit.

Mr. Hayward was a 1946 graduate of Beloit High School. He served in the Wisconsin National Guard for 20 years, retiring in 1968, as sergeant major. He was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis in 1961. He was formerly employed by Yates-American Machine Co., and on July 6, 1953, joined Gardner Machine Co., retiring on Feb. 28, 1992. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Beloit, the church Garden Club, helped with the Old Rectory Sales, and served on the Fishing Hall of Fame and Muskie Inc. He was a St. Louis Cardinal fan since the 1940s, a Green Bay Packer fan, an avid muskie fisherman and enjoyed gardening and the out of doors.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Hayward, Beloit; one daughter, Jody (Steve) Langfeldt, Beaver Dam; two grandchildren, Megan and Brian Tuel, both of Beaver Dam; four stepchildren, Jim (Tami) Robson, Leslie (John) Blumreich, both of Beloit, Judie Robson, Oshkosh, and Mark (Camille) Peltier-Robson, Beloit; nine step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; nieces, Sharon Hatch, Waukesha, and Susan (Terry) Hurm, South Beloit; great-nephews, Jeffrey Hurm and Chris Hatch; great-niece, Jeni Hatch; great-great-niece, Brooke Hurm; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Patricia, on April 17, 1996; two sisters, Denise Hayward and Marie Ameigh, and one brother-in-law, Walter Ameigh.

Friends may call on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Beloit.

Memorials may be made in Burt's name to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Beloit.

Freda A. Wright
COLUMBUS - Freda A. Wright, 94, a resident of the Larson House, Columbus, died on Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Columbus Community Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m., at Columbus United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Hobbins will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus.

Mrs. Wright was born on June 2, 1907, in Columbus, the daughter of William and Agnes Schaefer. She was married on June 5, 1934, to Marshall W. Wright in Marinette.

Mrs. Wright was a 1925 graduate of Columbus High School, then was employed as a legal secretary for attorney George Bunsa. She worked for three years with Phil Hudson and the State Banking Commission. She was an active member of the Columbus United Methodist Church, Columbus, where she sang in the choir for over 50 years and was a soloist on many occasions. She was a member of the Susanna Circle, United Methodist Women, the Columbus Women's Civic Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two sons, Marshall "Woody" (Nancy) Wright, Elk Rapids, Mich., and John L. (Lana) Wright, Vienna, Va.; one sister, Gertrude Paust, Columbus; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall, in 1985; one sister, and two brothers.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to Columbus United Methodist Church or the Larson House, Columbus.

Yvonne L. Smith
DECORAH, Iowa - Yvonne L. Smith, 66, of 2986B Wagon Road, Decorah, Iowa, died on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m., at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville. The Rev. Geoffrey Hoy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul cemetery, town of Theresa.

Mrs. Smith was born on Nov. 25, 1935, in Freeport, Ill., the daughter of Clarence and Vera (Whitford) Schultz. She was married to William Anding for 35 years. She was later married to Gerald Smith for eight years.

Mrs. Smith was a former member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

Survivors include five children, Michael Anding, Thomas Anding, Donna Shepherd, all of Horicon, Robert (Katie) Anding, Clearwater, Fla., and Jayne (Joseph) Weber, Mayville; three sisters, Betty (Bruce) Jones, Rockford, Ill, Karen Adams, Wisconsin, and Patty Schultz, Utah; two brothers, Roger Schultz, Illinois, and Walter Kopplin III, Oak Creek; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, June; one son, Bill Jr., and one daughter, Diane.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Mayville.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville, is serving the family.

Gladys C. Siewert
RHINELANDER - Gladys C. Siewert, 83, of 115 E. Anderson St., Rhinelander, formerly of Beaver Dam, died on Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at the Howard Young Medical Center, Woodruff.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at noon, at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Lindner will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Siewert was born on Oct. 7, 1918, in Jefferson, the daughter of Royal and Charlotte (Senger) Strese. She was married on May 1, 1943, to Orrin B. Siewert in Jefferson.

Mrs. Siewert was a 1937 graduate of Jefferson High School. She was employed at Beaver Cleaners for several years. She was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn (Scott) Bratberg-Towne, Harshaw; one grandson, Jonathan Bratberg; one stepgrandson, Jacob Towne; one sister, Myra Draves; three brothers, Ivan (Mary Jane) Strese, Merlin (Mary Jane) Strese, and Curtis (Arlene) Strese; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Orrin, in 1991; one niece, and one nephew.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.
