William L. Schneiter
RANDOLPH - William L. "Bill" Schneiter, 83, of Randolph, died on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, peacefully after a one-day stay at Continental Manor with his family by his side.

The funeral was held on Monday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m., at the Second Christian Reformed Church, Randolph. The Rev. James Admiraal officiated. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Hartford, at a later date.

Mr. Schneiter was born on Sept. 24, 1918, the son of Jacob and Frieda (Bieri) Schneiter. He was married in April 1947, in Chicago, Ill., to Amanda Hildegarde Adam.

Mr. Schneiter was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Ill. He worked for many different sales companies and worked for Bordens Dairy for many years. After his retirement, he continued to work and had his own independent painting company. He was active in prison ministries after retirement. He was past commander of the VFW Post 9510 of Randolph, and was an annual speaker for Veterans Day and Memorial Day services, school programs and graduations.

Mr. Schneiter's greatest joys in life were his faith and his family. He embraced Christ in every aspect of his life and shared this conviction with others daily. As a father and grandfather, he could not contain his love and pride for his children and grandchildren. He relished their every accomplishment from a grandchild's winning basket, to a job promotion, and then enthusiastically shared the news to one and all. His final comment to his family was always "Remember God loves you and so do I." This is where we will take comfort, in knowing that he is finally home with God. We love and miss you Dad and Grandpa, and will forever keep you close in our hearts and in our prayers.

Survivors include his former wife and good friend, Amanda Hildegarde Schultz; five children, Daniel Schneiter, Plymouth, Susan (Bill) Hundley, Sheboygan, Richard "Sam" (Debbie) Schneiter, Randolph, Kathy (special friend, Harry Wile) Geertsma, Randolph, and Laurie (Jon) Katsma, Cambria; two stepchildren, William "Dutch" Schultz, Waupun, and Michael (Jo-Elyn) Schultz, Farmington, Minn.; 15 grandchildren, Cairie Virruetta, Misty Collins, Heather Hundley, Stephanie (Zach) Tisdale, Jeremy Geertsma, Melissa Geertsma, Vincent Schneiter, Stacy Katsma, Kristin Katsma, Dustin Schneiter, Ashley Hundley, Alicia Katsma, Leah Schneiter, Derek Schneiter, Deanna Schneiter; eight great-grandchildren, Cody, Brittany and Dezarae Collins, Karina, Marissa, Natasha and Nicholas Virruetta, and Emily Tisdale; 13 step-grandchildren; 10 great-step-grandchildren; one sister, Elsa Schneiter; and one brother-in-law, Clarence Brose.

He was preceded in death by two infant brothers; one infant sister; one sister, Elda Brose; one half-brother, Herman Bieri, and one stepdaughter-in-law, Martha Schultz.

Friends called on Sunday, Jan. 20, from noon to 3 p.m., at the Randolph Community Funeral Home, Randolph, and on Monday, Jan. 21, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Second Christian Reformed Church, Randolph.

Donald Meenk
BRANDON - Donald Meenk, 69, of Brandon, died on Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at the Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m., at Bethel Reformed Church, Brandon. The Rev. Ted Medema will officiate. Burial will be in Brandon cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Waupun American Legion Post No. 210.

Mr. Meenk was born on Sept. 28, 1932, in Brandon, the son of Elmer and Anna (Kastein) Meenk. He was married on Oct. 20, 1961, to Winnie Alsum in East Friesland.

Mr. Meenk and his wife lived in the Brandon area all their married lives. He was employed with Speed Queen, Ripon, from which he retired after 30 years of service. He was an active member of the Brandon Horseshoe League. He was a 4-H leader for several years and a member of the bowling league in Markesan. He was also a charter member of Bethel Reformed Church, Brandon.

Survivors include his wife, Winnie Meenk, Brandon; three sons, Duane Meenk, Brandon, John Meenk, Fond du Lac, and Wesley (fiancee Amie Marcelain) Meenk, Brandon; one daughter, Diane (Todd) Neubauer, Oshkosh; two granddaughters, Molly and Mary Neubauer, both of Oshkosh; one sister, Twilah (Charles) DeBoer, Brandon; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Bethel Reformed Church, Brandon.

Gerald J. Sroka
Gerald "Jerry" J. Sroka, 65, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Milwaukee, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at his home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at noon, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, West Allis. The Rev. Karl Schneider will officiate. A private burial will be held in St. Adalbert's cemetery, Milwaukee.

Mr. Sroka was born on May 5, 1936, in Milwaukee, the son of Joseph and Lucille (Bialk) Sroka. He was married to Theresa Pokora.

Mr. Sroka was employed with M.P.S. for 42 years.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Theresa Sroka; four children, Suzi (Pete) Marciniak, Lori Kolbow, Mark (Bev) Sroka, and Paul (Doris) Sroka; his mother, Lucille Sroka; seven grandchildren, Alison, Max, Cassie, Tyler, Michael, Hailey and Lauren; two brothers, Thomas (Shirley) Sroka, and Michael (Noreen) Sroka; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sroka.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, West Allis.

The Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Merton E. Walcott
COLUMBUS - Merton "Mert" E. Walcott, 89, of Columbus, died on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at the Columbus Center.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m., at Columbus United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Hobbins will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Columbus, with full military rites.

Mr. Walcott was born on April 7, 1912, in Beaver Dam, the son of Ned and Agnes (Kurtzbein) Walcott. He was married on Jan. 11, 1942, to Frances Shourd in Kankakee, Ill.

Mr. Walcott was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army European Theatre for three years. He owned and operated Walcott Photography Studio, Columbus, from 1951 to 1976, and continued to work part-time at the studio. He was a founding member of the Professional Photographers of America artists degree program and held all offices of the Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association of which he was a member. He was an active member of the Columbus Kiwanis Club for over 40 years, serving as past president and lieutenant governor. He orchestrated the Kiwanis "washboiler dinner" fund-raising event for 20 years. He was an active member of Columbus United Methodist Church, serving on numerous church committees and boards. He was a member of the choir, served on the church building committee, and served as lay leader and lay preacher for several terms. He and his wife participated in mission work trips to Costa Rica, Trinidad, and Bolivia. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 62.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Walcott, Columbus; one son, John (Suzanne) Walcott, Columbus; three grandchildren, Tui (Mark) Bedwell, Tim and Tom Walcott; one great-grandson, Noah Andrew Walcott; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Eric Walcott, and two brothers, Roy and Leonard.

Friends may call on Friday, Jan. 11, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Jones-Jensen Funeral Home, Columbus, and on Saturday, Jan. 12, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Columbus United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Columbus United Methodist Church or Columbus Community Hospital.

Walter Meyer
Walter "Wally" Meyer, 87, a resident of Hillcrest Home, formerly of 111 Karl St., Beaver Dam, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The closing service was held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 10:30 a.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m., at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie officiated. Burial was in St. Michael's cemetery, Beaver Dam. Graveside military rites were conducted by the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146.

Mr. Meyer was born on Sept. 11, 1914, in Beaver Dam, the son of Anton and Louise (Hartl) Meyer. He was married on Oct. 19, 1940, to Eleanore "Blanche" Bach in Beaver Dam.

Mr. Meyer was a lifelong resident of Beaver Dam, a longtime employee of the Weyenberg Shoe Co., and Schmidt TV and Appliance, retiring from Weyenberg in 1976. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, past president and longtime member of the Beaver Dam Eagles 1638. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion Post 146, and was very active with the post honor guard for many years. He was a member of the Catholic Knights Insurance Society for 80 years, St. Michael's Holy Name Society, a member of the Knights of Columbus 1837, and Msgr. Rohner-Fourth Degree Assembly. He loved cooking, fishing and gardening, in particular growing green peppers. He also loved to help others.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Longseth, Beaver Dam; one son, Robert (Brenda) Meyer, Beaver Dam; four grandchildren, Thomas, Curtis and David Longseth, and Christopher Meyer; two great-grandchildren, Arianne Longseth and Mable Longseth; one sister-in-law, Esther Caughlin; one brother-in-law, Joseph Kuzniewicz Sr.; three sisters, Hilda Schwantes, Mary (Fritz) Stange, and Anna Barbara Fischer, all of Beaver Dam nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanore "Blanche" Meyer, in December 1990; three brothers, Ray, William and Clarence; one sister, Evelyn Kuzniewicz; one infant grandson, Timmy Longseth; one son-in-law, Richard Longseth; three brothers-in-law, Richard Schwandt, Elmer Fischer, and Raphael Caughlin; two nieces, and two nephews.

Friends called on Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m., the Eagles met at 7 p.m., and there was a parish vigil at 7:45 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to the UCPS Endowment fund, or St. Michael's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Andrew J. Joneth
Andrew J. Joneth, 81, of 110 Industrial Drive, Apt. 705, Beaver Dam, died on Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

The funeral will be held on Friday, March 1, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Lindner will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Park, New Berlin.

Mr. Joneth was born on April 21, 1920, in Pittsburgh, the son of Anthony and Pauline (Bogoslosky) Joneth. He was married to Alma Joneth. He was married in 1971, to Dorothy Kanzenbach in Juneau.

Mr. Joneth was a tool and die maker at Maysteel, Mayville, for many years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. He moved to Packwaukee Lake after retirement. He was a very active member of the Lions Club in Packwaukee, receiving the Mel Jones Award.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Joneth, Beaver Dam; one daughter, Sandy (Henry) Hendricks, Waupun; one son, Robert (Nancy) Joneth, Raleigh, N.C.; two stepchildren, Rodney (Janice) Brooks, Juneau, and Larry (Sandy) Brooks, Beaver Dam; one sister, Rosie Bolden, Milwaukee; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alma; brothers, sisters, and one grandson.

Friends may call on Friday, March 1, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Irene D. Wendegatz
JUNEAU - Irene D. Wendegatz, 86, of 106 S. Fairfield Ave., Juneau, died on Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. The Rev. Thomas Biedenbender will officiate. Burial will be in Juneau City cemetery.

Mrs. Wendegatz was born on Feb. 7, 1916, in the town of Herman, the daughter of Herman and Lena (Knab) Scherger. She was married on Nov. 25, 1933, to Elmer Wendegatz at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Huilsburg.

Mrs. Wendegatz was employed at Clearview Nursing Home, Juneau, as a cook. She was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau, and a member of its Ladies Aid.

Survivors include one daughter, Carol Ann (Harold) Schrap, Grafton; one son, Gary Wendegatz, Hartford; one sister, Loretta Panzer, Juneau; five grandchildren, Brian, Natalie, Gina, Pamela and Alicia; 11 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Elise, Jacob, Leah, Joshua, Rebecca, Julia, Samuel, Cassandra, Brianna and Benjamin; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer, in 1998; three brothers, Adolph, Reinhold and Herman, and a special friend, Merlin Weinheimer.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau, or the Wisconsin Council of the Blind.

Milton E. Pettack
WAUPUN - Milton E. Pettack, 80, of Waupun, died on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at the Christian Home, Waupun.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m., at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun. The Revs. Richard Lawrence and Kathryn Ulrich will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Mound cemetery, Waupun. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 210, and the VFW Post 6709.

Mr. Pettack was born on Jan. 21, 1922, in the town of Trenton, the son of Edward and Lottie (Hiller) Pettack. He was married on Dec. 22, 1944, to Ruth M. Cramer in Randolph.

Mr. Pettack served his country during World War II with the 123rd Army Air Corps Base Unit, in the European Theatre, and with the 86th Fighter Squadron. He received the Army Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was formerly employed with Waupun Auto Sales as a mechanic for several years, and then as an officer with the Department of Corrections, until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waupun, the Getchel-Nelson American Legion Post 210, and the Bentley-Hull VFW Post 6709 of Waupun.

Survivors include one daughter, Dian (Delvin) Kuehn, Waupun; four grandchildren, Stephan (Christine) Kuehn, Beaver Dam, Angela, Kristina and Eric (special friend Jennifer Dickie) Kuehn, all of Waupun; one brother, Lester (Audrey) Pettack, Green Lake; a sister, Bernice Pater, Waupun; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth M. Pettack, on Jan. 11, 2000; his parents; one brother-in-law, Wallace Pater; one niece and one nephew.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 27, from noon until the time of service at the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun.

A memorial is being established in his name.

Robert J. Olson
COLUMBUS - Robert J. Olson, 62, of Columbus, died on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 2, at 11 a.m., at Bonnet Prairie Lutheran Church, near Rio. The Rev. Teri Forbes will officiate. Burial will be in Bonnet Prairie cemetery with full military rites.

Mr. Olson was born on Jan. 8, 1940, the son of Edmund and Martha (Hohlstein) Olson in the town of Hampden.

Mr. Olson attended Rio High School then entered the military serving in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for four years. He worked at the Del Monte Canning Co., Arlington, for 15 years.

Survivors include two sons, Paul and Tim Olson, both of Columbus; three daughters, Peggy (Rodney) Stanton, Juneau, Dawn (Thomas) Weissmann, and Pennie Olson, both of Columbus; three brothers, Nelvin (Gloria) Olson, Donald (Sally) Hohlstein, both of Rio, and Clifford (Barbara) Hohlstein, Wauwatosa; seven grandchildren; relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Friday, March 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vangen Funeral Home, Rio.

Elmer B. Schultz
RANDOLPH - Elmer B. Schultz, 75, of Randolph, died on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at his home.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m., at Randolph United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jason Dickerson will officiate. Burial will be in Randolph cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by the Randolph VFW Post 9510.

Mr. Schultz was born on May 10, 1926, in Randolph, the son of Arthur and Lena (Bahr) Schultz. He was married on June 13, 1959, in Randolph to Anita A. Pahl in Randolph.

Mr. Schultz was a lifelong resident of the Randolph area and a graduate of Randolph High School. He was employed with I.K. Mayr-Kienest Feeds, Beaver Dam, for 20 years, and was most recently employed at J.W. Jung Seed Co., Randolph. He served his country during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of the Randolph VFW Post 9570 and a past post commander. He was a member of the Randolph Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He will always be remembered for his love of gardening, especially his roses.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Schultz, Randolph; one sister-in-law, Anna Pahl, Randolph, one brother-in-law, Alvin Daye, Markesan; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Elda Wichmann; one sister-in-law, Elda Daye; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Pahl and Gordon Wichmann.

Friends may call on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at Randolph United Methodist Church.

A memorial is being established in his name.

The Randolph Community Funeral Home, is serving the family.
